1 Malakhi khae hoiah Sithaw ih lok Israel kaminawk khaeah angzoh.
A prophecy: This message came from the Lord concerning Israel through Malachi.
2 Angraeng mah, Nangcae to kang palung, tiah thuih. Toe nangcae mah loe, Kawbangah maw kaicae hae nang palung? tiah na thuih o. Angraeng mah, Esau loe Jakob ih amya na ai maw? tiah thuih: toe Jakob ni ka palung,
I have loved you, says the Lord. But you ask, “How have you loved us?” Wasn't Esau Joseph's brother? the Lord responds. But I loved Joseph
3 Esau loe ka hnukma, anih ih mae hoi qawk ah a toep ih ahmuennawk to tasuinawk ohhaih praezaek ahmuen ah kang coengsak.
and despised Esau. I have made Esau's mountain homeland into a wasteland, and turned his inheritance into a desert for jackals.
4 Edom mah, Kaicae loe kamtang o, toe kam laem o moe, kapong sut ahmuen to ka sak o let han, tiah thuih; toe misatuh kaminawk ih Sithaw mah, Nihcae mah sah o ngawn tih, toe kai mah ka phraek pae han; prae loe kahoih ai kaminawk ih prae, tiah kawk ueloe, to kaminawk loe dungzan Angraeng palungphuihaih thungah om o tih.
The people of Edom may be saying: “We have been beaten down, but we will rebuild the ruins.” But this is what the Lord Almighty says, They may try and build, but I will tear down. They will be called a land of wickedness, and the people those who make the Lord angry forever.
5 Nangmacae mah mik hoi na hnuk o naah, Angraeng lensawkhaih loe Israel ramri tasa bang khoek to oh bae hae, tiah na thui o tih, tiah thuih.
You will see this destruction with your own eyes, and you will say, “The Lord is great, even beyond the borders of Israel.”
6 Capa mah ampa to saiqat moe, tamna mah angmah ih angraeng to saiqat: Aw, kai ih ahmin patoek, nangcae qaimanawk, misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng mah, Kai loe ampa ah ka oh, toe kai saiqat paek kami na oh o maw? Kai loe Angraeng ah ka oh, toe kai zii kami na oh o maw? tiah thuih. Nangcae mah, Kaicae mah nang ih ahmin to kawbangah maw khet ka patoek o? tiah na thuih o.
A son honors his father, and a servant respects his master. So if I am your father, where is my honor? If I am your master, where is my respect? says the Lord Almighty to you priests who show contempt for me. But you ask, “How have we shown contempt for you?”
7 Panuet thok takaw to ka hmaicam ah nang paek o; toe nangcae mah kawbang maw panuet thok ah kang sak o? tiah na thuih o. To tiah lok na thuih o naah, Angraeng ih caboi to nam hnong o sak boeh.
By making defiled offerings on my altar. Then you ask, “How have we defiled you?” By saying the Lord's table doesn't deserve respect.
8 Mik kamaeng moinawk to angbawnhaih ah na paek nahaeloe, sakpazaehaih ah om mak ai maw? Khokkhaem moi hoi kangoi moinawk to na sin o nahaeloe, sakpazaehaih ah om mak ai maw? To moinawk to prae ukkung hanah sin pae o noek ah! Nangcae nuiah anih palung anghoe tih maw? Nangcae to anih mah talawk tih maw? tiah misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng mah thuih.
When you offer a blind animal as a sacrifice, isn't that wrong? Or when you offer an animal that is crippled or sick, isn't that wrong? Would you give such gifts to your governor? Would he be pleased with you? Would he be kind and show favor to you? asks the Lord Almighty.
9 Vaihi Sithaw mah aicae tahmen hanah, Sithaw khaeah tahmen hnikhaih lawk to thui oh: to tiah na hnik o haih rang hoiah anih mah nangcae to talawk tih maw? tiah misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng mah thuih.
So why don't you try being kind to God, begging him to be merciful to you? But when you bring such offerings, why should he show favor to you? asks the Lord Almighty.
10 Nangcae thungah mi mah maw kai ih thok to khaa tih? Nangcae mah tidoeh avang ai ah Ka hmaicam nuiah hmai to tik o hmah: nangcae nuiah palung kang hoe ai, nangcae ih ban hoi na tathlang o ih hmuen doeh ka talawk mak ai, tiah misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng mah thuih.
I really wish one of you would shut the Temple doors to stop you lighting pointless fires on my altar! I am not pleased with you, says the Lord Almighty, and I will not accept offerings from you.
11 Ni tacawthaih hoi niduem khoek to Gentel kaminawk salakah Ka hmin lensawkhaih to om tih; prae kaminawk boih khaeah ka hmin lensawk han oh pongah, ka hmin ohhaih ahmuen kruekah hmuihoih thlaekhaih hoi kaciim hmuenpaekhaih to sah o tih, tiah misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng mah thuih.
I am honored by nations from the farthest east to the distant west; everywhere people make offerings to me of incense and pure sacrifices. I am honored among the nations, says the Lord Almighty.
12 Toe nangcae mah loe to hmuen to panuet thok ah na sak o lat, Angraeng ih caboi loe panuet thoh; anih ih thingthai hoi moi doeh panuet thoh, tiah na thuih o.
But you dishonor me when you say the Lord's table doesn't deserve respect, and that its food can be treated with contempt.
13 Nangcae mah, Khenah, kang pho o parai boeh! tiah na thuih o moe, hnah na uengh o thuih, tiah misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng mah thuih. Ahmaa kaom, khokkhaem, kangoi moinawk to hmuenpaekhaih ah na sin o, ban hoi na sin o ih hmuennawk to ka talawk han maw? tiah misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng mah thuih.
You say, “All this is too much trouble!” and you sniff scornfully at it, says the Lord Almighty. But when you bring animals that are stolen or crippled or sick and offer them as sacrifices, should I accept what you're giving? asks the Lord.
14 Lokkamhaih a sak pacoengah, tuu khongkha thungah tuu tae maeto a tawnh e, amsawnlok thuihhaih hoiah Angraeng khaeah coek koi kaom tuu paek kami loe kasae tongh nasoe: Kai loe lensawk Siangpahrang ah ka oh, kai ih ahmin loe zit thoh, tiah Sithaw panoek ai kaminawk mah thuih o, tiah misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng mah thuih.
Cursed are those who cheat by vowing to bring a ram as a sacrifice and then offers an imperfect animal to the Lord. For I am a great King, says the Lord Almighty, and I am respected among the nations!
