Luka 7

When Jesus had finished saying all this in the hearing of the people, he entered Capernaum.
2 Misatuh cumvaito ukkung ih tamna maeto loe, angmah ih angraeng mah palung parai, toe anih loe ngannat moe, duek duih.
There a centurion's servant, who was highly regarded by his master, was sick and about to die.
3 Misatuh angraeng mah Jesu kawng to thaih naah, anih loe angzoh moe, nganna a tamna to ngantuisak hanah, anih khaeah Judah kacoehtanawk to patoeh moe, tahmenhaih hniksak.
The centurion heard about Jesus and sent some Jewish elders to him, asking him to come and heal his servant.

When they came to Jesus, they earnestly pleaded with him, saying, “This man is worthy to have yoʋ do this for him,
5 Anih loe kaicae ih prae hae palung pongah, kaicae hanah Sineko maeto ang sak pae, tiah a naa o.
for he loves our nation and built our synagogue for us.”
6 Jesu loe nihcae hoi nawnto caeh o. Im phak tom naah loe, misatuh cumvaito ukkung mah ampuinawk to anih khaeah patoeh moe, anih khaeah, Angraeng, nangmah hoi nangmah to raihaih angpaek hmah, kai ih imthung ah nang akunsak hanah kam cuk ai:
So Jesus went with them. When he was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to say to him, “Lord, do not trouble yoʋrself, for I am not worthy to have yoʋ enter under my roof;
7 kai loe nang khaeah angzoh han kam cuk ai, tiah ka poek: toe lokmu maeto mah thui ah, ka tamna loe ngantui tih.
therefore I did not even consider myself worthy to come to yoʋ. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.
8 Kai doeh ukhaih thungah kaom kami maeto ah ni ka oh toeng, kai tlim ah misatuh kami oh o mangh, maeto khaeah, Caeh ah, tiah ka thuih naah, anih to caeh: kalah maeto hanah, Angzoh, tiah ka thuih naah, anih to angzoh; ka tamna khaeah hae hmuen hae sah ah, tiah ka thuih pae naah, a sak, tiah a naa.
For I too am a man set under authority, with soldiers under me. I say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
9 Jesu mah anih ih loknawk to thaih naah, dawnrai, a hnukbang paroeai kaminawk khaeah angqoi moe, Kang thuih o, hae tiah kalen tanghaih ka hnu vai ai, ka hnu ai, Israel kaminawk salakah ka hnu vai ai vop, tiah a naa.
When Jesus heard this, he was amazed at the centurion. And turning to the crowd that was following him, he said, “I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such great faith.”

Then the men the centurion had sent returned to the house and found that the servant who had been sick was well.

Soon afterward Jesus went to a town called Nain, and many of his disciples went with him, along with a large crowd.
12 Vangpui khongkha phak tom naah loe, khenah, lamhmai nongpata maeto oh, anih loe capa maeto khue sak, a capa loe duek boeh pongah a qok to angzawnh o: vangpui thung ih paroeai kaminawk loe lamhmai hoi nawnto caeh o.
As he drew near to the gate of the town, behold, a man who had died was being carried out, the one and only son of his mother (who was a widow). And a large crowd from the town was with her.

When the Lord saw her, he was moved with compassion for her and said to her, “Do not weep.”

Then he came up and touched the bier, and those who were carrying it stood still. He said, “Young man, I say to yoʋ, arise!”

So the dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.

Then all the people were filled with awe and began glorifying God, saying, “A great prophet has arisen among us,” and, “God has visited his people.”

This news about Jesus then spread throughout Judea and all the surrounding region.

John's disciples told him about all these things.

So John called two of his disciples and sent them to ask Jesus, “Are yoʋ the one who is to come, or should we wait for another?”

When the men came to him, they said, “John the Baptist has sent us to yoʋ to ask, ‘Are yoʋ the one who is to come, or should we wait for another?’”

Now in that very hour Jesus had healed many people of diseases, afflictions, and evil spirits, and had given sight to many who were blind.

So Jesus replied to John's disciples, “Go tell John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive their sight, the lame walk, lepers are made clean, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have good news preached to them.
23 Mi kaw baktih doeh kai pongah palungboeng ai kami loe, tahamhoih, tiah a naa.
And blessed is anyone who does not take offense at me.”
24 Johan mah patoeh ih kami hnik amlaem hoi pacoengah, anih mah kaminawk khaeah Johan kawng to thuih pae, Tih hnuk han ih maw praezaek ah na caeh o? Takhi mah hmuh naah, ahnuk ahma kamtimh phroh kung khet han ih maw?
When John's messengers had gone away, Jesus began to speak to the crowds about John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?
25 To tih ai boeh loe tih khet han ih maw na caeh o? Khukbuen kanaem angkhuk kami khet han ih maw? Khenah, kahoih khukbuen hoi kamthoep, kanawm ah khosah kami loe, siangpahrang im ah ni oh.
What then did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft garments? Behold, those who are dressed in splendid clothing and who live in luxury are in royal palaces.
26 Nangcae loe tih hnuk han ih maw na caeh o? Tahmaa maeto khet han ih maw? Ue, kang thuih o, tahmaa maeto pongah doeh a len kue.
But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet.
27 Anih kawng pongah, Khenah, na hmaa ah tamthang sinkung kang patoeh han, anih mah na hmaa ah na loklam to tuh tih, tiah tarik ih oh.
This is the one of whom it is written, ‘Behold, I am sending my messenger ahead of yoʋ, who will prepare yoʋr way before yoʋ.’
28 Kang thuih o, Nongpatanawk mah tapen ih kami thungah tuinuem paekkung Johan pongah kalen kue tahmaa om ai vop: toe Sithaw mah siangpahrang ah ukhaih prae ih kathoeng koek kami loe anih pongah len kue, tiah a naa.
For I tell you, among those born of women there is no prophet greater than John the Baptist, but whoever is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.”
29 Kaminawk boih hoi tamut cong kaminawk mah, Johan ih lok to thaih o naah, Sithaw to saphaw o moe, Johan mah paek ih tuinuemhaih to hnuk o.
(When all the people heard this, including the tax collectors, they affirmed that God's way was right, because they had been baptized with the baptism of John.
30 Toe Farasinawk hoi kaalok kop kaminawk mah loe, Sithaw lok to tapom o ai, angmacae hoi angmacae to lok angaek o pongah, Johan khaeah tuinuem o ai.
But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected the will of God for themselves, because they had not been baptized by John.)
31 Angraeng mah, Hae dung ih kaminawk loe tih hoiah maw ka patah han? Nihcae loe tih hoiah maw anghmong o?
Jesus went on to say, “To what then should I compare the people of this generation, and what are they like?
32 Nihcae loe hmuenmae zawhhaih ahmuen ah anghnu nawktanawk mah, Maeto hoi maeto ang kawk o moe, Tamoi kang ueng o thuih, toe na hnaw o ai; qahhaih lok hoiah kang oi o thuih, toe na qah o ai, tiah thuih ih lok hoiah ni anghmong o.
They are like children who sit in the marketplace and call out to one another, ‘We played the flute for you, but you did not dance; we sang a lament for you, but you did not weep.’
33 Johan loe angzoh moe, buh to caa ai, misurtui doeh nae ai, to naah nangcae mah, Anih loe taqawk tawnh, tiah na naa o.
For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon.’
34 Kami Capa angzoh naah loe, a caak moe, a naek, to naah nangcae mah, Zok amoeh, misurtui amoeh kami, tamut cong kaminawk hoi kazae kaminawk ih ampui ho khen oh! tiah na naa o.
The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Behold, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’
35 Toe a caanawk mah palunghahaih to amtuengsak, tiah a naa.
Yet wisdom is vindicated by all her children.”
36 Farasi kami maeto mah anih to buh caak hanah kawk: to pongah anih loe buh caak hanah Farasi im ah caeh moe, buhkung ah anghnut.
One of the Pharisees asked Jesus to eat with him, so he went into the Pharisee's house and reclined at the table.
37 Khenah, to vangpui thungah kaom kami zae, nongpata maeto mah Jesu loe buh caak hanah Farasi kami im ah caeh, tiah a thaih naah, alabaster hmuihoih tui tabu maeto a sin,
And behold, when a woman in that city who was a sinner found out that Jesus was reclining at the table in the Pharisee's house, she brought an alabaster jar of ointment.
38 anih hnuk bang ih khok taengah angdoet moe, a qah, mikkhraetui hoiah anih ih khok to pasaeh pae moe, a sam hoiah a huk pae, anih ih khok to pahnuem moe, hmuihoih tui hoiah pazut pae.
As she stood behind him at his feet, weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with the hair of her head, kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.

When the Pharisee who had invited him saw it, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is—that she is a sinner.”
40 Jesu mah anih khaeah, Simon, lok kang thuih han, tiah a naa. To naah anih mah, Patukkung, thui khae, tiah a naa.
Jesus said to him in response, “Simon, I have something to say to yoʋ.” So he said, “Say it, Teacher.”
41 Jesu mah, Kami long hnetto loe phoisa tawnkung khaeah phoisa a coi hoi: maeto mah phoisa cumvai pangato coi, kalah maeto mah quipangato coi.
“A certain moneylender had two debtors. The one owed him five hundred denarii, and the other owed him fifty.
42 A coi hoi ih phoisa to pathok hoi thai ai pongah, phoisa coi han paekkung mah nihnik to loihsak hmaek. Nihnik thungah mi mah maw phoisa coi han paekkung to palung kue tih, na thui ah, tiah a naa.
When they did not have the means to repay, he forgave the debts of them both. So tell me, which of them will love him more?”

Simon answered, “I suppose that it would be the one for whom he forgave the larger debt.” Jesus said to him, “Yoʋ have judged correctly.”
44 Nongpata khaeah angqoi moe, Simon khaeah, Hae nongpata hae na hnuk maw? Na im ah kang zoh naah, khok pasaehhaih tui mataeng doeh nang paek ai: toe anih mah loe ka khok hae mikkhraetui hoiah pasaeh moe, a sam hoiah huk.
Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, “Do yoʋ see this woman? When I came into yoʋr house, yoʋ did not give me water for my feet, but this woman has wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head.
45 Kai nang mok vai ai: toe hae nongpata mah loe imthung ah ka kun nathuem hoi kamtong boeng ai ah ka khok hae a mok.
Yoʋ did not give me a kiss, but from the time I came in, this woman has not stopped kissing my feet.
46 Ka lu ah ungsi nang nok pae vai ai: toe hae nongpata mah loe ka khok hae hmuihoih tui hoiah ang nok pae.
Yoʋ did not anoint my head with oil, but this woman has anointed my feet with ointment.
47 To pongah kang thuih o, Nongpata mah thui laek ai amlunghaih to amtuengsak pongah, anih ih pop parai zaehaihnawk loe tahmen boeh: toe zaehaih zetta tahmen kami loe amlunghaih zetta ni a tawnh, tiah a naa.
Therefore I tell yoʋ, her many sins are forgiven; that is why she has shown great love. But he to whom little is forgiven shows little love.”
48 Anih mah nongpata khaeah, Na zaehaihnawk loe tahmen boeh, tiah a naa.
Then Jesus said to her, “Yoʋr sins are forgiven.”
49 To naah anih hoi nawnto buh caak han anghnu kaminawk mah, Zaehaihnawk tahmen thaih hae kami loe mi maw? tiah angmacae palung thung hoiah a thuih o.
Those who were reclining at the table with him began to say among themselves, “Who is this man that even forgives sins?”
50 Jesu mah nongpata khaeah, Na tanghaih mah ang pahlong boeh; kamongta ah caeh lai ah, tiah a naa.
And Jesus said to the woman, “Yoʋr faith has saved yoʋ; go in peace.”
