< Oihaih Laa 3 >

1 Kai loe anih palungphuihaih quiboeng hoiah patang ka khang boeh.
I [, the one who am writing this, ] am a man who has been afflicted/punished [MTY] by Yahweh because he was angry.
2 Anih mah khodai ai, khoving thungah ang hoih.
[It was as though] he caused me to walk in a very dark place without any light [at all].
3 Anih mah ang thuitaek; athun qui vaihi hoi vaihi a ban hoiah ang thuitaek.
He has punished [IDM] me many times, all day, [every] day.
He has caused my skin and my flesh to become old. He has broken my bones.
5 Kai tuk hanah misatuh kaminawk to pakhueng moe, kakhaa hoi karai hmuen hoiah ang takui khoep.
He has surrounded me [DOU] with bitterness and suffering.
6 Canghnii ah kadueh kami baktiah, khoving thungah ang suek.
[It is as though] he has buried me in a dark place like [SIM] [the graves of] those who have been dead for a long time.
[It is as though] [MET] he has built a wall around me, and fastened/tied me with heavy chains, and I cannot escape.
Although I call out and cry out for him to help me, he does not pay attention to my prayers.
9 Ka caehhaih loklam to thlung hoiah ang pakaa pae khoep moe, kang koih loklam to ang pazuisak.
[It is as though] he has blocked my path with a [high] stone [wall] and has caused my path to become crooked.
10 Anih loe kai hanah, moi angang taqom baktih, amtueng ai ahmuen ah kaom kaipui baktiah oh.
He has waited to attack me like [SIM] a bear or a lion hides and waits [to attack other animals].
11 Anih mah kai loklam amkhraengsak moe, ang taprawt pet pacoengah, kai hae amrosak.
[It is as though] he has dragged me off the path and (mauled me/torn me into pieces), and left me without help.
12 Anih mah kalii anueng moe, kai to palaa kahhaih ahmuen ah ang suek.
[It is as though] [MET] he bent his bow and caused me to become the target [at which he shot] his arrows.
13 Kalii tabu thung ih anih ih palaanawk mah ka kaeng ah cop.
[It is as though] he shot his arrows deep into my body.
All my relatives laugh at me; all day, [every] day they sing songs that make fun of me.
15 Anih mah kakhaa tui hoiah ang bawh moe, kakhaa ahmuet hoiah ang paquisak.
He has filled me with (bitterness/great suffering), [like] [MET] someone who drinks a very bitter liquid suffers.
[It is as though] he has caused me to chew gravel that broke my teeth, and he has trampled me in the dirt.
Things no longer go well for me; I no longer remember being prosperous.
18 To pongah Angraeng khae ih thacakhaih hoi oephaih to om ai boeh, tiah ka thuih.
I [continued to] say [to myself], “I no longer expect to live much longer; I no longer confidently expect [to receive good things] from Yahweh!”
19 Patangkhanghaih hoi raihaih, kakhaa tui hoi kakhaa ahmuet doeh ka pahnet ai vop.
When I think about my suffering and my wandering [away from home], [it is like drinking] a very bitter [DOU] liquid.
20 To baktih hmuennawk to ka hinghaih pakhra mah panoek poe moe, ka thung ah angam sut boeh.
I will never forget this time when I feel very depressed/discouraged [IDM].
21 Palung thungah ka poek poe pongah oephaih ka tawnh.
However, I confidently expect [Yahweh to do good things for me again] when I think about this:
22 Angraeng amlunghaih loe boeng thai ai, anih mah palungnathaih tawn ai nahaeloe, aicae loe amro tih boeh.
Yahweh never stops faithfully loving [us], and he never stops being kind to us.
23 Akhawnbang kruek tahmenhaih kangtha a hnuk o; na oep thohhaih loe paroeai len.
[He is the one whom we can] always trust/lean on. Every morning he is merciful [to us again].
24 Angraeng loe kai ih taham ah oh, tiah ka hinghaih pakhra mah thuih pongah, anih to ka zing han.
[So] I say to myself, “Yahweh is all that I need; so I will confidently wait for him [to do good things for me].”
25 Angraeng hoihhaih loe anih oephaih tawn kami, hinghaih pakhra hoi anih pakrong kaminawk khaeah oh.
Yahweh is good to [all] those who depend on him, to those who seek his [help].
26 Kami loe Angraeng pahlonghaih to oep moe, zing han hoih.
[So] it is good for us to wait quietly for Yahweh to save/rescue [us].
27 Kami loe thendoeng nathuem ah tok karai sak han hoih.
And it is good for us to [patiently] endure [suffering] while we are young.
28 Anih nuiah hmuen to amtik boeh pongah, angmabueng anghnut moe, anghngai duem han oh.
Those [who seek his help] should sit by themselves, silently, [knowing that] it is Yahweh who has allowed/caused them to suffer.
29 Oephaih om tih hmang tiah poek nahaeloe, a mikhmai to maiphu pongah akuep nasoe.
They should lie in the dirt, with their faces on the ground, [because] they can still hope [that Yahweh will help them].
30 Anih tabaeng kami khaeah tangbaeng patueng pae nasoe loe, ahmin sethaih hoiah koi nasoe.
If someone strikes us on one cheek, we should turn the other cheek toward that person [in order that he may strike it, too], and accept/endure it when we are insulted.
31 Sithaw mah aicae dungzan khoek to vaa mak ai;
Yahweh does not abandon [us his people] forever.
32 anih mah palungsethaih phaksak, toe paroeai pop anih palungnathaih hoi amlunghaih to amtuengsak let tih.
Sometimes he causes us to suffer, but sometimes he is kind [to us] because he continually and faithfully loves [us].
33 Anih loe kaminawk nuiah palungsethaih hoi amtanghaih phaksak han koeh ai.
And he is not happy about causing human beings to suffer or to be sad.
34 Long ah thongkrah kaminawk boih khok hoiah cawh moe,
If people (mistreat all the prisoners/crush all the prisoners under their feet)
35 sang koek Sithaw hmaa ah kami mah toenghaih baktiah hnuk han koi hmuen lak pae ving pacoengah,
or if they rebel against God by refusing to give to people the things that it is right for them [to receive],
36 kami mah hnuk han koi hmuen sungsak ving hanah Angraeng mah koeh ai.
or if they cause judges to decide matters unjustly, (does Yahweh not see all those things?/Yahweh certainly sees all those things!) [RHQ]
37 Angraeng lokpaekhaih om ai ah, mi mah maw a thuih ih lok baktiah angcoengsak thaih?
No one can [RHQ] command something to happen [and then cause it to happen] if Yahweh has not already decided that it should happen.
38 Sang koek Sithaw ih pakha thung hoiah na ai maw kahoih hoi kasae hmuen to angzo hmaek?
God in heaven [MTY] is [RHQ] the one who causes disasters to happen, and he [also] causes good things to happen.
39 Kami mah a zaehaih pongah danpaek naah, tipongah kahing kami loe laisaep khing loe?
[So] it is certainly not [RHQ] right for us, who are only humans, to complain when he punishes us for the sins that we have committed.
40 To tiah oh pongah loe a caeh o haih loklam hae pakrong tanoek si loe, Angraeng khaeah amlaem o let si.
Instead, we should (examine/think carefully about) our behavior; we should turn back to Yahweh.
41 Vannawk ranui ah kaom Sithaw khaeah, ban a payangh o moe, lawk a thuih o naah, poekhaih palungthin doeh anih khaeah paek o si.
We should pray [IDM] sincerely and lift up our arms toward God in heaven, [and say, ]
“We have sinned and rebelled [against you], and you have not forgiven [us].
You have surrounded us with your anger and pursued us; you have slaughtered [us] without pitying us.
You have hidden yourself in a cloud, with the result that you do not hear [us] when we pray.
45 Kaminawk salakah anghnoeng baktih, panuet thok hmuen baktiah nang ohsak boeh.
You have caused [the people of other] nations to consider us to be only garbage [DOU].
46 Kaicae ih misa boih mah, pakha ang angh o thuih.
All our enemies have insulted us.
47 Kaicae nui ah zithaih, amtimhaih, amrohaih hoi anghmat angtaahaih to phak boeh.
We are constantly afraid [DOU], [because] we have experienced disasters and ruin [DOU].”
48 Kai kami ih canunawk amro o boeh pongah, ka mik hoiah vapui tui to long.
I cry a lot because my people have been destroyed.
49 Ka mikkhraetui loe kang ai ah long tih, anghak mak ai,
My tears continually flow; they will not stop
50 Angraeng mah hnu ai karoek to van hoiah dan tathuk.
until Yahweh looks down from heaven and sees [us].
I am very grieved because of [what has happened to] the women of my city.
Those who are my enemies hunted for me like [SIM] [people hunt for] a bird [to kill it] [even though] there was no reason [for them to do that].
They threw me into a pit to kill me, and they threw stones on top of me.
54 Tui mah ka lu uem naah, ka duek boeh, tiah ka poek.
The water [in the pit] rose above my head, and I said [to myself], “I am about to die/drown!”
55 Aw Angraeng, tangqom thung hoiah na hmin to kang kawk.
But from the bottom of the pit I cried out to you [MTY], “Yahweh, [help me]!”
I pleaded with you, “Do not refuse to heed [MTY] me while I cry out to you!”
57 Nang kang kawk naah, kai nang hnai thuih moe, zii hmah, tiah nang naa.
Then you answered me and said, “Do not be afraid!”
Yahweh, you defended me; you did not allow me to die.
[Now], Yahweh, you have seen the evil things that my enemies have done to me, [so] decide my case [and show that I am right]!
60 Nihcae mah misa ah ang suekhaih hoi a poek o ih hmuen to na hnuk boih boeh.
You know the evil things that they have planned to do to me.
61 Aw Angraeng, nihcae kasaethuihaih hoi poekhaihnawk to na thaih boeh.
Yahweh, you have heard them insult [me] and what they have planned to do to me.
62 Athun qui kai patoem kaminawk hoi kai misa angthawk thuih kaminawk mah thuih ih lok to na thaih boeh.
Every day they whisper and mutter things about me, all day long.
63 Nihcae anghnuthaih hoi angthawkhaih to khenah; kai loe nihcae laasak thuih han ih ni ka oh sut boeh.
Look at them! Whether they are standing or sitting they make fun of me with the songs that they sing.
64 Aw Angraeng, angmacae ban mah sak ih hmuen baktih toengah, nihcae khaeah pathok pae let ah.
Yahweh, cause them to suffer in return for their causing [me] to suffer!
65 Nihcae han qahhaih palungthin to paek ah loe, nihcae to tangoeng thuih ah.
Curse them [IDM] [for] their being very stubborn [IDM].
66 Palungphuihaih hoiah nihcae to pacaekthlaek hanah, maeto doeh anghmat ai ah Angraeng ih van tlim ah kaom hmuennawk to amrosak boih ah.
Because you are angry with them, pursue them and get rid of them, [until none of them remain] on the earth.
