1 Jerub-Baal (Gideon) loe khawnbang khawnthaw ah angthawk moe, angmah ih kaminawk boih hoi nawnto Harod tui longhaih ahmuen ah atai o; Midian kaminawk loe nihcae ataihaih aluek bang, Moreh mae taeng ih tangtling ah atai o.
Then Jerubbaal, the same, is Gideon, and all the people that were with him, rose up early, and encamped by the fountain of Harod, —and, the camp of Midian, was on the north of them, by the hill of Moreh, in the vale.
2 Angraeng mah Gideon khaeah, Midian kaminawk nangcae ban ah kang paek hanah, kami paroeai na pop o vop; to tiah nangcae khae kang paek nahaeloe, kaimacae ban thacakhaih hoiah ni kaimacae hoi kaimacae kam hlong o tiah, Israel kaminawk mah ka nuiah amoek o moeng tih.
And Yahweh said unto Gideon, Too many, are the people that are with thee, for me to deliver the Midianites into their hand, —lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand, hath saved me.
3 To pongah vaihi kaminawk khaeah, Mi kawbaktih doeh zithaih tawn kami loe Gilead mae hoi amlaem o roep nasoe, tiahg thui paeh, tiah a naa. To pongah kami sang pumphae hnetto amlaem o moe, kami sang hato tang.
Now, therefore, proclaim, I pray thee, in the ears of the people, saying, Whoso feareth and trembleth—let him turn and go back from Mount Gilead. And there returned of the people twenty-two thousand, and, ten thousand, remained.
4 Toe Angraeng mah Gideon khaeah, Kami na pop o parai vop pongah, tui ohhaih ahmuen ah caeh haih ah, to ah nihcae to kang tanoek pae han; nang hoi nawnto caeh tih, tiah kang thuih ih kami to ni, nang hoi nawnto caeh tih; toe nang hoi nawnto caeh mak ai, tiah kang thuih ih kami loe, nang hoi nawnto caeh mak ai, tiah a naa.
Then said Yahweh unto Gideon—Yet, are the people too many, take them down unto the waters, that I may prove them for thee, there, —and it shall be, that, he of whom I say unto thee, This one, shall go with thee, the same, shall go with thee, and, every one of whom I say unto thee, This one, shall not go with thee, the same, shall not go.
5 To pongah Gideon mah kaminawk to tui ohhaih ahmuen ah caeh haih; Angraeng mah anih khaeah, ui baktiah palai hoi tui nae kaminawk hoi khokkhu cangkrawn moe, tui nae kaminawk to tapraek ah, tiah a naa.
So he took down the people unto the waters, —and Yahweh said unto Gideon—Every one that lappeth with his tongue of the water, as a dog lappeth, thou shalt set him by himself, likewise, every one that boweth down upon his knees, to drink.
6 Kami cumvai thumtonawk loe tui to ban hoiah soh o moe, naek o. Kalah kaminawk boih loe tuinaek hanah cangkrawn o.
And so it was, that, the number of them that lapped with their hand to their mouth, was three hundred men, —but, all the rest of the people, bowed down on their knees, to drink water.
7 Angraeng mah Gideon khaeah, Ban hoi tui nae kami cumvai thumto hoiah nang to kang pahlong moe, Midian kaminawk to na ban ah kang paek han; kalah kaminawk loe angmacae ohhaih ahmuen ah caehsak boih ah, tiah a naa.
Then said Yahweh unto Gideon—By the three hundred men that lapped, will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thy hand; and let, all [the rest of] the people, go every man to his own place.
8 To pongah Gideon mah kalah Israel kaminawk boih khaeah angmacae ih hmuenmae hoi mongkahnawk to a laksak moe, angmacae ohhaih ahmuen ah patoeh let; anih loe kami cumvai thumto hoiah caeh; to naah Midian kaminawk loe nihcae ohhaih aloih bang ih tangtling ah atai o.
So the people took provisions in their hand, and their horns, but, every man of Israel besides, sent he away every man to his home, whereas, the three hundred men, he retained. Now, the camp of Midian, was beneath him in the vale.
9 To na aqum ah Angraeng mah Gideon khaeah, Angthawk loe, misatuh kaminawk ataihaih ahmuen ah caeh tathuk ah, nihcae to na ban ah kang paek boeh.
And it came to pass, on that night, that Yahweh said unto him, Arise! go down against the camp, —for I have delivered it into thy hand.
10 Toe caeh tathuk hanah na zit nahaeloe, misatuh kaminawk ohhaih ahmuen ah na tamna Phurah hoiah nawnto caeh ah;
Or, if, thou, art afraid to go down, go down—thou and Purah thy young man, unto the camp;
11 nihcae mah thuih ih lok to na thaih tih; to pacoengah loe misatuh kaminawk ohhaih ahmuen ah caeh tathuk hanah, na ban thacakhaih to om tih, tiah a naa. To pongah Gideon loe a tamna Phurah hoi nawnto misatuh kaminawk ataihaih tasa bang ih misatoephaih ahmuen ah caeh.
so shalt thou hear what they shall say, —and, afterward, shall thy hands grow strong, and thou shalt go down against the camp. Then went he down, he and Purah his young man, unto the outmost part of the armed men that were in the camp.
12 Midian kaminawk, Amalek kaminawk hoi ni angyae bangah kaom kaminawk loe azawn ah atai o; nihcae loe kroek laek ai pakhuh zetto oh o; nihcae ih kaengkuu hrangnawk doeh, kroek laek ai savuet zetto pop o.
Now, the Midianites and the Amalekites and all the sons of the east, were lying along in the vale, like locusts for multitude, —their camels also, were without number, as the sand that is by the sea side, for multitude.
13 Gideon phak naah, kami maeto mah angmah ih ampui khaeah amang to thuih pae, khenah, amang ka sak; barli cang hoi sak ih takaw kae loe Midian kaminawk ohhaih ahmuen ah amlet tathuk; kahni im phak naah, kahni im to a taeh phaeng, kahni im loe amtimh rup, tiah a naa.
And Gideon came in, and lo! a man relating to his neighbour a dream, —and he said—Lo! a dream, have I dreamt, and lo! a round cake of barley bread tumbling into the camp of Midian, and it came as far as the tent—and smote it that it fell, and turned it upside down, and the tent lay along.
14 Anih ih ampui mah, To hmuen loe kalah hmuen mak ai; Israel kami Joash capa Gideon ih sumsen ni; Sithaw mah Midian kaminawk hoi haeah katai misatuh kaminawk boih, anih ban ah paek boeh, tiah a naa.
Then responded his neighbour and said: —Nothing else, is this, than the sword of Gideon son of Joash, a man of Israel, —God hath delivered into his hand, both Midian and all the host.
15 To ih amang hoi amang lehkung ih lok to Gideon mah thaih naah, Sithaw to bok, Israel kaminawk ataihaih ahmuen ah amlaem let moe, Angthawk oh; Angraeng mah Midian kaminawk to nangcae ban ah paek boeh, tiah a thuih pae.
And it was so, when Gideon heard the story of the dream, and the interpretation thereof, that he bowed himself down, —and returned unto the camp of Israel, and said—Arise! for Yahweh hath delivered into your hand the host of Midian.
16 Kami cumvai thumtonawk to abu thumto ah tapraek pacoengah, mongkah hoi long laom thungah hmai paang pacoengah kaminawk hanah a paek boih.
And he divided the three hundred men, into three companies, —and put horns into the hands of them all, with empty pitchers, and torches inside the pitchers.
17 Nihcae khaeah, Kai hae na khen oh; ka sak ih baktih toeng ah sah oh; nihcae ohhaih kahni im ka phak naah, ka sak ih baktih toengah sah oh, tiah a naa.
Then he said unto them, On me, shall ye look, and, in like manner, shall ye do, —and lo! when I am coming unto the outermost part of the camp, then shall it be, that, as I do, so, shall ye do.
18 Kaimah hoi ka taengah kaom kaminawk boih mah mongkah uengh o naah, nihcae ataihaih kahni im taeng boih ah mongkah to ueng o thuih loe, Angraeng hoi Gideon ih sumsen, tiah hang oh, tiah a naa.
When I shall blow with the horn, I and all who are with me, then shall, ye also, round about all the camp, blow with your horns, and shall say, For Yahweh and for Gideon!
19 To pongah Gideon hoi a taengah kaom kami cumvaitonawk to angthawk o moe, qum taning ih misatoep angthlaenghaih tue phak naah, nihcae ataihaih kahni imtaeng ah a caeh o; to naah mongkah to uengh o moe, a ban ah sin o ih long laomnawk to vah o phaeng.
So Gideon came, and the hundred men that were with him, unto the outermost part of the camp, at the beginning of the middle watch, they had but, newly set, the watchers, —and they blew with the horns, and brake in pieces the pitchers, that were in their hand.
20 To naah abu thumto ah tapraek ih kaminawk boih mah mongkah to ueng o; long laomnawk to a vah o phaeng, banqoi bang hoiah hmaithaw to sin o moe, bantang bang hoiah mongkah to a sin o; Angraeng hoi Gideon ih sumsen, tiah a hang o.
Yea the three companies blew with the horns, and shivered the pitchers, and caught hold—with their left hands—of the torches, while, in their right hands, were the horns, to blow with, —and they cried, A sword for Yahweh, and for Gideon!
21 Kaminawk boih kahni im taengah angdoet o naah, Midian kaminawk to cawnh o boih; cawnh hoiah a hangh o.
And they stood still, every man in his place, round about the camp, —and all the host ran and shouted, and fled.
22 Kami cumvai thumtonawk mah mongkah uengh o naah, Angraeng mah misatuh kaminawk boih, angmacae ampuinawk to sumsen hoiah tuksak; misatuh kaminawk loe Zererah ahmuen Beth-Shittah vangpui ah, Tabbath vangpui taengah kaom Abel-Meholah ramri karoek to cawnh o.
When the three hundred blew the horns, Yahweh set the sword of every man, against his neighbour, and against all the host, —and the host fled, as far as the Place of Acacias, towards Zererath, as far as the border of Abel-meholah, by Tabbath.
23 Naphtali, Asher hoi Manasseh ih kaminawk boih nawnto amhong o moe, Midian kaminawk to patom o.
And the men of Israel were called together, out of Naphtali and out of Asher, and out of all Manasseh, —and pursued Midian.
24 Midian kaminawk tuk hanah, Jordan vapui hoi Beth-Barah avang khoek to caeh oh loe, a ngang oh tiah, Gideon mah Ephraim mae boih ah laicaeh to patoeh. To pacoengah Ephraim kaminawk boih nawnto amkhueng o moe, Jordan vapui taeng Berth-Barah avang khoek to angang o.
And, messengers, did Gideon send through all the hill country of Ephraim, saying—Go down to meet Midian, and capture, before them, the waters, as far as Beth-barah, and the Jordan. So all the men of Ephraim were called out, and captured the waters, as far as Beth-barah, and the Jordan.
25 Midian kaminawk zaehoikung misatuh angraeng hnetto, Oreb hoi Zeeb to a naeh o; Oreb to Oreb lungsong nuiah a hum o moe, Zeeb to Zeeb misurtui pasawhaih ahmuen ah a hum o. Midian kaminawk to patom o moe, Jordan vapui yaeh ah kaom Gideon khaeah Oreb hoi Zeeb ih lu to a sin pae o.
And they captured the two princes of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb, and slew Oreb at Oreb’s Rock, and, Zeeb, they slew at Zeeb’s Winepress, and pursued Midian, —and, the heads of Oreb and Zeeb, brought they in unto Gideon at the ford of the Jordan.
