Then sang Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam on that day, saying,
2 Israel siangpahrangnawk mah lu lak o moe, kaminawk mah angmacae koehah hmuenmae to paek o pongah, Angraeng to saphaw oh.
For that the leaders took the lead in Israel, for that the people offered themselves willingly, bless ye the LORD.
3 Aw nangcae siangpahrangnawk, tahngai oh; Aw nangcae ukkung angraengnawk, naa patueng oh; Angraeng khaeah laa ka sak han; Israel Angraeng Sithaw khaeah, saphawhaih laa to ka sak han.
Hear, O ye kings; give ear, O ye princes; I, [even] I, will sing unto the LORD; I will sing praise to the LORD, the God of Israel.
4 Aw Angraeng, Seir mae hoi na caeh moe, Edom prae hoiah na caeh naah, long to anghuen moe, van hoiah kho angzoh; tamai thung hoiah khotui to krak.
LORD, when thou wentest forth out of Seir, when thou marchedst out of the field of Edom, the earth trembled, the heavens also dropped, yea, the clouds dropped water.
5 Angraeng hmaa ah mae to tui ah amkaw moe, Sinai mae doeh Israel Angraeng Sithaw hmaa ah atui amzawt.
The mountains flowed down at the presence of the LORD, even yon Sinai at the presence of the LORD, the God of Israel.
6 Anath capa Shamgar dung hoi Jael dung ah, lampuinawk to angqai krang pongah, kholong caeh kaminawk mah lam tamcaek loklam to pazui o ving boeh.
In the days of Shamgar the son of Anath, in the days of Jael, the highways were unoccupied, and the travellers walked through byways.
7 Vangta thungah Israel kaminawk khosakhaih to boeng boeh; kai Deborah hae kangthawk moe, Israel ih amno ah kang thawk ai karoek to, Israel prae thungah khosah kami to kha.
The rulers ceased in Israel, they ceased, until that I Deborah arose, that I arose a mother in Israel.
8 Israel kaminawk loe kangtha sithawnawk to qoih o; to naah nihcae ih vangpui khongkha thungah misanawk angzoh o; Israel kami sang quipalito mah angvaenghaih aphaw hoi tayae maeto doeh tawn o ai.
They chose new gods; then was war in the gates: was there a shield or spear seen among forty thousand in Israel?
9 Israel siangpahrangnawk loe kaminawk hoi nawnto toksak hanah, angmacae koeh ah palung angpaek o pongah, Israel ukkungnawk khaeah poekhaih palungthin to ka suek; to pongah nangcae mah Angraeng to saphaw oh.
My heart is toward the governors of Israel, that offered themselves willingly among the people: bless ye the LORD.
10 Nangcae laa hrang kanglung angthueng kaminawk, lokcaek kaminawk, loklam caeh kaminawk,
Tell [of it], ye that ride on white asses, ye that sit on rich carpets, and ye that walk by the way.
11 Tuidokhaih ahmuen ah kalii sin kaminawk ih ban thung hoi nangcae pahlong kaminawk ih lok to na thaih o naah, laa to sah oh; nihcae loe Angraeng toenghaih to thuih o moe, Israel avangnawk thungah kaom kaminawk mah sak ih toenghaih kawng to a thuih o. To naah Angraeng ih kaminawk loe angmacae ohhaih ahmuen ah amlaem o tih.
Far from the noise of archers, in the places of drawing water, there shall they rehearse the righteous acts of the LORD, [even] the righteous acts of his rule in Israel. Then the people of the LORD went down to the gates.
12 Angthawk ah, angthawk ah, Deborah; angthawk ah, angthawk loe, laa sah ah; angthawk ah, Aw Barak! Aw Abinoam caanawk, misatukhaih ahmuen ah naeh ih kaminawk to hoi ah.
Awake, awake, Deborah; awake, awake, utter a song: arise, Barak, and lead thy captivity captive, thou son of Abinoam.
13 To naah kanghmat kaminawk loe kami ukkungnawk khaeah caeh o; Angraeng loe angzoh moe, thacak kaminawk ukhaih to ang paek.
Then came down a remnant of the nobles [and] the people; the LORD came down for me against the mighty.
14 Amalek kaminawk taengah kaom kaminawk loe, Ephraim prae thung hoiah tacawt o; Benjamin kaminawk loe nangcae hnukah bang o; misatuh ukkungnawk loe Makir ih acaeng thung hoiah angzoh o; Zebulun acaeng thung hoiah loe khokhan thaih kaminawk to angzoh o.
Out of Ephraim [came down] they whose root is in Amalek; after thee, Benjamin, among thy peoples; out of Machir came down governors, and out of Zebulun they that handle the marshal’s staff.
15 Issakar siangpahrang capanawk loe Deborah hoi nawnto oh o; Issakar acaeng loe Barak hoi doeh nawnto oh o; anih loe karangah azawn ah cawnh. Reuben ohhaih prae thungah loe khopoek thaih kaminawk to oh o.
And the princes of Issachar were with Deborah; as was Issachar, so was Barak; into the valley they rushed forth at his feet. By the watercourses of Reuben there were great resolves of heart.
16 Tipongah tuu hanghaih lok thaih hanah, tuu khongkha thungah na oh loe? Reuben ohhaih prae thungah loe khopoek thaih kaminawk oh o.
Why satest thou among the sheepfolds, to hear the pipings for the flocks? At the watercourses of Reuben there were great searchings of heart.
17 Gilead loe Jordan vapui yaeh ah oh; tipongah Dan acaeng loe palongpuinawk ohhaih ahmuen taengah khosak o loe? Asher loe tuipui taengah oh moe, tuipui taeng ih azawn ah oh.
Gilead abode beyond Jordan: and Dan, why did he remain in ships? Asher sat still at the haven of the sea, and abode by his creeks.
18 Zebulun kaminawk hoi Naphtali kaminawk loe misa angtukhaih maesang nuiah hinghaih paek han khoek to a koeh o.
Zebulun was a people that jeoparded their lives unto the death, and Naphtali, upon the high places of the field.
19 Siangpahrangnawk loe angzoh o moe, misa to tuk o; Kanaan ih siangpahrangnawk mah Meggido tui ohhaih taeng ih, Taanak vangpui to tuk o, toe aicae ih phoisa to la o thai ai.
The kings came and fought; then fought the kings of Canaan; in Taanach by the waters of Meggido: they took no gain of money.
20 Van bang hoiah nihcae tuk o; cakaehnawk loe angmacae amhaehaih loklam hoiah Sisera to tuk o.
They fought from heaven, the stars in their courses fought against Sisera.
21 Kishon vapui, kangquem vapui, Kishon vapui mah nihcae to pazawk boih boeh; Aw ka hinghaih, thacak kaminawk to na tit boeh.
The river Kishon swept them away, that ancient river, the river Kishon. O my soul, march on with strength.
22 Hrang kangthueng kaminawk loe hrang hoi cawnh o ving pongah, hrang khokpadae to koih pae, thacak hrang khokpadae to akah pae rak.
Then did the horsehoofs stamp by reason of the pransings, the pransings of their strong ones.
23 Nihcae loe Angraeng abomh hanah angzo o ai moe, thacak kaminawk tuk hanah Angraeng khaeah angzo o ai pongah, Meroz vangpui to tangoeng thui ah, tiah Angraeng ih van kami mah thuih.
Curse ye Meroz, said the angel of the LORD, curse ye bitterly the inhabitants thereof; because they came not to the help of the LORD, to the help of the LORD against the mighty.
24 Ken acaeng, Heber ih zu, Jael loe tahamhoih koek nongpata ah oh; kahni imthung ah kaom nongpatanawk thungah tahamhoih koek nongpata ah oh.
Blessed above women shall Jael be, the wife of Heber the Kenite, blessed shall she be above women in the tent.
25 Anih mah nongpata khaeah tui hnik naah, maitaw tahnutui to a paek moe, angraeng mah caak ih maitaw tahnutui kamkhawk to a paek.
He asked water, [and] she gave him milk; she brought him butter in a lordly dish.
26 Nongpata mah sumdik to lak moe, a bantang ban ah cakii to sinh pacoengah, cakii hoiah Sisera to boh mat; a lu ah boh pae hup moe, sumdik hoiah a naalaking to takhing pae puet.
She put her hand to the nail, and her right hand to the workmen’s hammer; and with the hammer she smote Sisera, she smote through his head, yea, she pierced and struck through his temples.
27 Anih loe Jael khokkung ah angsong, to ah amtimh moe, duek sut. Anih khokkung ah angsongh sut, to ah amtimh moe, amtimhaih ahmuen ah a duek.
At her feet he bowed, he fell, he lay: at her feet he bowed, he fell: where he bowed, there he fell down dead.
28 Sisera amno loe thokbuem hoiah khet, thokbuem taengah anghnut moe, tipongah maw anih ih hrang lakok loe angzo palang ai? Tipongah maw anih ih hrang lakok loe akra parai? tiah a qah.
Through the window she looked forth, and cried, the mother of Sisera [cried] through the lattice, Why is his chariot so long in coming? why tarry the wheels of his chariots?
29 Nongpatanawk thung ih palungha koek kami mah, anih han pathim pae ih lok loe,
Her wise ladies answered her, yea, she returned answer to herself,
30 Sisera hoi anih ih kaminawk loe nongpa maeto mah nongpata maeto han ih, to tih ai boeh loe hnetto han ih paek hanah, hmuenmae pakrong o moe, amzet o kalang mue, kahoih koek rong congca khukbuennawk, a-aem kaom kahoih rong congca khukbuennawk, misa pazawk kaminawk mah tahnong ah zaeng hanah angan kahoih kahninawk a lak o pongah mue, hae tiah akra o? tiah a naa.
Have they not found, have they not divided the spoil? a damsel, two damsels to every man; to Sisera a spoil of divers colours, a spoil of divers colours of embroidery, of divers colours of embroidery on both sides, on the necks of the spoil?
31 To pongah Aw Angraeng, na misanawk boih loe anghmaa angtaa o nasoe! Toe nang palung kaminawk loe, ni tacawt tahang nathuem ih thacakhaih baktih toengah om o nasoe, tiah a thuih. To pacoengah prae thungah saning quipalito thung monghaih to oh.
So let all thine enemies perish, [O LORD]: but let them that love him be as the sun when he goeth forth in his might. And the land had rest forty years.
