< Lokcaekkung 3 >
1 Kanaan prae ah misatukhaih panoek vai ai Israel kaminawk boih tanoek hanah,
Now these [are] the nations which the LORD left, to prove Israel by them, ([even] as many [of Israel] as had not known all the wars of Canaan;
2 misatuk naah caeh vai ai Israel kaminawk ih a caanawk misatuk amtuk o hanah, Angraeng mah caehtaak ih kaminawk loe,
Only that the generations of the children of Israel might know to teach them war, at the least such as before knew nothing of it; )
3 Philistin ukkung angraeng pangato, Kanaan kaminawk boih, Sidon kaminawk, Lebanon mae nuiah kaom Hiv kaminawk, Baal-Hermon mae nui hoi Hamath karoek to kaom kaminawk to athum o.
[Namely], five lords of the Philistines, and all the Canaanites, and the Sidonians, and the Hivites that dwelt on mount Lebanon, from mount Baal-hermon to the entrance of Hamath.
4 Angraeng mah Mosi rang hoiah ampanawk khaeah paek ih loknawk to pazui o tih maw, pazui o mak ai, tiah panoek hanah Israel kaminawk to tanoek.
And they were to prove Israel by them, to know whether they would hearken to the commandments of the LORD, which he commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses.
5 Israel kaminawk loe Kanaan kaminawk, Hit kaminawk, Amor kaminawk, Periz kaminawk, Hiv kaminawk hoi Jebus kaminawk salakah khosak o.
And the children of Israel dwelt among the Canaanites, Hittites, and Amorites, and Perizzites, and Hivites, and Jebusites:
6 Nihcae ih canu to zu ah lak o moe, angmacae ih canu to nihcae capanawk hanah zu ah a paek o pacoengah, nihcae sithawnawk ih tok to a sak pae o.
And they took their daughters to be their wives, and gave their daughters to their sons, and served their gods.
7 Israel kaminawk loe Angraeng mikhnukah kahoih ai hmuen to sak o; angmacae ih Angraeng Sithaw to pahnet o moe, Baal hoi Asherah ih tok to sak pae o.
And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and forgot the LORD their God, and served Baalim, and the groves.
8 To pongah Angraeng palungphuihaih Israel kaminawk nuiah krak moe, nihcae to Mesopotamia siangpahrang Kushan-Rishathaim ban ah a zawh; Israel kaminawk loe anih ban ah saning tazetto thung toksak o.
Therefore the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Chushan-rishathaim king of Mesopotamia: and the children of Israel served Chushan-rishathaim eight years.
9 Toe Angraeng khaeah a hangh o naah loe, nihcae pahlong hanah Angraeng mah Kaleb ih amnawk, Kenaz capa Othniel to pathawk; anih mah nihcae to pahlong.
And when the children of Israel cried to the LORD, the LORD raised up a deliverer to the children of Israel, who delivered them, [even] Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother.
10 Anih nuiah Angraeng ih Muithla to oh; anih loe Israel kaminawk lokcaekkung ah oh pacoengah, misatukhaih ahmuen ah a caeh. Angraeng mah Mesopotamia siangpahrang Kushan-Arathaim to anih ban ah paek pongah, anih mah to siangpahrang to pazawk.
And the Spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he judged Israel, and went out to war: and the LORD delivered Chushan-rishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand; and his hand prevailed against Chushan-rishathaim.
11 To pongah Kenaz capa Othniel duek karoek to, saning quipalito thung prae thungah monghaih to oh.
And the land had rest forty years: and Othniel the son of Kenaz died.
12 Israel kaminawk mah Angraeng mikhnukah kahoih ai hmuen to sak o let; to tiah nihcae mah Angraeng hmaa ah kahoih ai hmuen to sak o pongah, Angraeng mah Moab siangpahrang Eglon to thacaksak.
And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD: and the LORD strengthened Eglon the king of Moab against Israel, because they had done evil in the sight of the LORD.
13 Eglon mah Ammon hoi Amelek kaminawk to nawnto pakhueng, Israel to a tuk moe, ungsikung kaom vangpui to lak.
And he gathered to him the children of Ammon and Amalek, and went and smote Israel, and possessed the city of palm-trees.
14 Israel kaminawk loe saning hatlaitazetto thung, Moab siangpahrang Eglon ban thungah toksak o.
So the children of Israel served Eglon the king of Moab eighteen years.
15 Israel kaminawk mah Angraeng khaeah hang o let naah, Angraeng mah banqoi ban patoh thaih, Benjamin acaeng, Gera capa, Ehud to pahlongkung ah paek; Israel kaminawk mah anih to Moab siangpahrang Eglon khaeah tangqum paek hanah patoeh o.
But when the children of Israel cried to the LORD, the LORD raised them up a deliverer, Ehud the son of Gera, a Benjaminite, a man left-handed: and by him the children of Israel sent a present to Eglon king of Moab.
16 Ehud loe ahnuk ahmaa kanoe, dongto kasawk sumsen to sak moe, kahni thungah ayaw hmoek pacoengah, a bantang phaih nuiah angnaengh.
But Ehud made him a dagger which had two edges, of a cubit length; and he girded it under his raiment upon his right thigh.
17 Tangqum to Moab siangpahrang Eglon khaeah paek; anih loe thawk parai.
And he brought the present to Eglon king of Moab: and Eglon [was] a very fat man.
18 Ehud mah tangqum to paek pacoengah, tangqum phaw kaminawk to a caehsak ving.
And when he had made an end to offer the present, he sent away the people that bore the present.
19 Anih loe Gilgal vangpui taeng ih thlung lakhaih ahmuen phak naah, amlaem let moe, Aw siangpahrang, nang khaeah tamqulok thuih han ka tawnh, tiah a naa. Siangpahrang mah, To lok to thui hmah raeh! tiah a naa. To naah a taengah kaom kaminawk boih to tasa bangah tacawt o king.
But he himself turned again from the quarries that [were] by Gilgal, and said, I have a secret errand to thee, O king: who said, Keep silence. And all that stood by him went out from him.
20 Siangpahrang loe ni nat naah anghnuthaih ahmuen ah angmah bueng anghnut. Ehud mah anih khaeah, Sithaw khae ih lok nang han kang sinh, tiah a naa. Siangpahrang loe anghnuthaih ahmuen hoiah angthawk tahang.
And Ehud came to him; and he was sitting in a summer-parlor, which he had for himself alone: and Ehud said, I have a message from God to thee. And he arose from [his] seat.
21 To naah Ehud mah, A banqoi ban hoiah a bantang phaih pongah angnaeng ih sumsen to aphongh moe, siangpahrang to zok ah a thunh.
And Ehud put forth his left hand, and took the dagger from his right thigh, and thrust it into his belly:
22 Sumsen toeng akun boih khoek to a thunh, ahnuk bang khoek to sumsen to pra; a thawk mah padap khoep pongah, sumsen to aphong thai ai.
And the haft also entered after the blade: and the fat closed upon the blade, so that he could not draw the dagger out of his belly; and the dirt came out.
23 To pacoengah Ehud loe imhmaa bangah caeh moe, thok khah khoep pacoengah, cabi takraeng thuih caeng.
Then Ehud went forth through the porch, and shut the doors of the parlor upon him, and locked them.
24 Anih caeh pacoengah, a tamnanawk angzoh o; toe thok khah khoep moe, takraeng ih thok to hnuk o naah, siangpahrang loe ni nat naah angsonghaih ahmuen ah anghak kalang mue, tiah thuih o.
When he had gone out, his servants came; and when they saw that, behold, the doors of the parlor [were] locked, they said, Surely he covereth his feet in his summer-chamber.
25 Nihcae loe azatpaw khoek to zing o, anih mah thok paong ai naah loe, cabi to a lak o moe, thok to paong o; khenah, nihcae ih angraeng loe long ah duek sut.
And they tarried till they were ashamed: and behold, he opened not the doors of the parlor, therefore they took a key and opened [them]: and behold, their lord lay dead on the earth.
26 Nihcae mah zing o nathung ah Ehud loe loih ving boeh; thlung lakhaih ahmuen ah caeh moe, Seirah avang bang hoiah a loih ving.
And Ehud escaped while they tarried; and passed beyond the quarries, and escaped to Seirath.
27 To ahmuen to a phak naah, Ephraim mae nui hoiah mongkah to a uengh; Israel kaminawk loe anih hoi nawnto mae nui hoiah anghumh o tathuk, anih mah nihcae to caeh haih.
And it came to pass when he had come, that he blew a trumpet in the mountain of Ephraim, and the children of Israel went down with him from the mount, and he before them.
28 Ka hnukah bang oh; Angraeng mah na misa Moab kaminawk to nangcae ban ah paek boeh, tiah a naa. To pongah kaminawk loe anih hnukah bang o tathuk moe, Moab prae caehhaih Jordan vapui yaeh ah caeh o, mi kawbaktih doeh vapui angkatsak ai.
And he said to them, Follow me: for the LORD hath delivered your enemies the Moabites into your hand. And they went down after him, and took the fords of Jordan towards Moab, and suffered not a man to pass over.
29 To nathuem ah thacak Moab misatuh kami sang hato a hum o; kami maeto doeh loih o ai.
And they slew of Moab at that time about ten thousand men, all lusty, and all men of valor: and there escaped not a man.
30 To na niah Moab kaminawk loe Israel kaminawk khaeah angpaek o. To nathuem hoi kamtong saning quitazetto thung prae thungah monghaih to oh.
So Moab was subdued that day under the hand of Israel: and the land had rest eighty years.
31 Ehud pacoengah, Anath capa Shamgar mah doeh, Philistin kami cumvai tarukto tayae toeng hoiah hum; anih mah doeh Israel kaminawk to pahlong.
And after him was Shamgar the son of Anath, who slew of the Philistines six hundred men with an ox-goad; and he also delivered Israel.
