1 Israel kaminawk loe Angraeng mikhnukah kahoih ai hmuen to sak o let bae; to pongah Angraeng mah nihcae to saning quipalito thung Philistin kaminawk ban ah paek.
The children of Israel again did that which was evil in the LORD’s sight; and the LORD delivered them into the hand of the Philistines forty years.
2 Dan acaeng, Zorah vangpui kami, Manoah, tiah ahmin kaom kami maeto oh; anih ih zu loe, caa kaak, caa sah thai ai.
There was a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren, and childless.
3 Angraeng ih van kami to a zu khaeah angphong moe, anih khaeah, Khenah, vaihi nang loe caa na kaak, caa na sah ai; toe zokpomh ueloe, capa maeto na sah tih.
The LORD’s angel appeared to the woman, and said to her, “See now, you are barren and childless; but you shall conceive and bear a son.
4 To pongah vaihi hoi kamtong misurtui hoi paqui thai koi hmuen tidoeh nae hmah; ciimcai ai caaknaek doeh caa hmah.
Now therefore please beware and drink no wine nor strong drink, and don’t eat any unclean thing;
5 Khenah, zok na pomh ueloe, capa maeto na sah tih; anih lu ih sam to aat pae hmah; nawkta loe Nazari kami ah om ueloe, zok thung hoi Sithaw han pahoe ih kami ah om tih; anih mah Israel kaminawk Philistin kaminawk ih ban thung hoiah pahlonghaih tok to sah amtong tih, tiah a naa.
for, behold, you shall conceive and give birth to a son. No razor shall come on his head, for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb. He shall begin to save Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.”
6 To pacoengah nongpata loe sava khaeah caeh moe, Sithaw kami maeto kai khaeah angzoh; anih loe Sithaw ih van kami baktiah oh, a krang loe zitthoh parai; naa bang hoiah maw nang zoh, tiah ka dueng ai moe, angmah ih ahmin doeh na thui ai.
Then the woman came and told her husband, saying, “A man of God came to me, and his face was like the face of the angel of God, very awesome. I didn’t ask him where he was from, neither did he tell me his name;
7 Toe anih mah kai khaeah, Zok na pomh ueloe, ca nongpa maeto na sah tih, vaihi hoi kamtong misurtui nae hmah lai ah, paqui thai koi hmuen to nae hmah loe, ciimcai ai tidoeh caa hmah; nawkta loe zok thung hoi kamtong a duek khoek to Sithaw ih Nazari kami ah om tih, tiah ang thuih, tiah a naa.
but he said to me, ‘Behold, you shall conceive and bear a son; and now drink no wine nor strong drink. Don’t eat any unclean thing, for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb to the day of his death.’”
8 To naah Manoah mah Sithaw khaeah lawkthuih; Aw ka Angraeng, nang patoeh ih Sithaw kami to angzosak let loe, tapen han koi nawkta to kawbangmaw ka khetzawn han, tito na patuk nasoe, tiah a naa.
Then Manoah entreated the LORD, and said, “Oh, Lord, please let the man of God whom you sent come again to us, and teach us what we should do to the child who shall be born.”
9 Manoah lawkthuihaih to Sithaw mah tahngaih pae; nongpata loe lawk ah oh naah, Sithaw ih van kami anih khaeah angzoh pae let; to naah a sava Manoah loe anih khaeah om ai.
God listened to the voice of Manoah, and the angel of God came again to the woman as she sat in the field; but Manoah, her husband, wasn’t with her.
10 Nongpata loe a sava khaeah karangah cawnh moe, Khenah, canghniah kai khae angzo kami to, vaihi hae ah angzoh let, tiah a naa.
The woman hurried and ran, and told her husband, saying to him, “Behold, the man who came to me that day has appeared to me.”
11 Manoah loe angthawk moe, a zu hnukah bang; to kami khae phak naah, Ka zu khae lokthuikung loe nang maw? tiah a naa. To naah anih mah, Ue kai ni, tiah a naa.
Manoah arose and followed his wife, and came to the man, and said to him, “Are you the man who spoke to my wife?” He said, “I am.”
12 Manoah mah, Na thuih ih lok akoep naah, nawkta loe kawbangmaw om ueloe, kawbangmaw ka khetzawn han loe? tiah a naa.
Manoah said, “Now let your words happen. What shall the child’s way of life and mission be?”
13 Angraeng ih van kami mah, Manoah khaeah, Nongpata khae ka thuih pae ih loknawk baktiah anih mah khenzawn nasoe.
The LORD’s angel said to Manoah, “Of all that I said to the woman let her beware.
14 Misur takha thung hoi tacawt tidoeh caa mak ai ueloe, misurkung hoi tacawt tih hmuen doeh caa mak ai; misurtui hoi paquih thai koi hmuen tidoeh nae mak ai ueloe, ciimcai ai hmuen tidoeh caa mak ai; ka paek ih loknawk boih nongpata mah pazui nasoe, tiah a naa.
She may not eat of anything that comes of the vine, neither let her drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing. Let her observe all that I commanded her.”
15 Manoah mah Angraeng ih van kami khaeah, Nang han maeh caa maeto bop pacoeng ai kakroek to, hae ah om raeh, tiah a naa.
Manoah said to the LORD’s angel, “Please stay with us, that we may make a young goat ready for you.”
16 Angraeng ih van kami mah, Kai nang kang khruek cadoeh, nang ih buh to ka caa mak ai; toe hmai angbawnhaih sak na koeh nahaeloe, Angraeng khaeah sah ah, tiah a naa. Manoah mah anih loe Angraeng ih van kami ni, tiah panoek ai.
The LORD’s angel said to Manoah, “Though you detain me, I won’t eat your bread. If you will prepare a burnt offering, you must offer it to the LORD.” For Manoah didn’t know that he was the LORD’s angel.
17 To pacoengah Manoah mah Angraeng ih van kami khaeah, Na thuih ih lok akoep naah na hmin pakoeh hanah, na hmin loe mi aa? tiah a dueng.
Manoah said to the LORD’s angel, “What is your name, that when your words happen, we may honour you?”
18 Anih mah tih hanah ka hmin nang dueng loe? Ka hmin loe dawnrai koiah oh, tiah a naa.
The LORD’s angel said to him, “Why do you ask about my name, since it is incomprehensible?”
19 To pacoengah Manoah mah maeh caa to lak moe, canghum hoi nawnto angbawnhaih to thlung nuiah Angraeng khaeah paek; Manoah hoi a zu mah khet hoi li naah, van kami mah dawnrai hmuen to sak.
So Manoah took the young goat with the meal offering, and offered it on the rock to the LORD. Then the angel did an amazing thing as Manoah and his wife watched.
20 Hmaicam thung hoiah van bangah hmai angqong tahang naah, Angraeng ih van kami loe hmaicam hmai kangqong pongah van ah dawh tahang; Manoah hoi a zu mah hnuk hoi naah, long ah mikhmai akuep hoi.
For when the flame went up towards the sky from off the altar, the LORD’s angel ascended in the flame of the altar. Manoah and his wife watched; and they fell on their faces to the ground.
21 Manoah hoi a zu khaeah van kami to amtueng let ai boeh. To pacoengah loe Manoah mah Anih loe Angraeng ih van kami ni, tiah panoek.
But the LORD’s angel didn’t appear to Manoah or to his wife any more. Then Manoah knew that he was the LORD’s angel.
22 To naah Manoah mah a zu khaeah, Sithaw a hnuk hoi boeh pongah, a dueh hoi tangtang tih boeh, tiah a naa.
Manoah said to his wife, “We shall surely die, because we have seen God.”
23 Toe a zu mah anih khaeah, Angraeng mah aihnik hum han koeh nahaeloe, a paek hoi ih hmai angbawnhaih hoi canghum angbawnhaih to talawk mak ai, hae hmuennawk boih doeh patuek mak ai, to baktih loknawk doeh vaihi thuem ah na thui mak ai, tiah a naa.
But his wife said to him, “If the LORD were pleased to kill us, he wouldn’t have received a burnt offering and a meal offering at our hand, and he wouldn’t have shown us all these things, nor would he have told us such things as these at this time.”
24 Nongpata mah capa maeto tapen, anih ih ahmin to Samson, tiah a sak; anih loe qoeng tahang moe, Angraeng mah tahamhoihaih paek.
The woman bore a son and named him Samson. The child grew, and the LORD blessed him.

The LORD’s Spirit began to move him in Mahaneh Dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.
