< Joshua 6 >
1 Israel kaminawk zit o pongah, Jeriko vangpui khongkha to kacakah khah o; mi doeh tasa bangah caeh o ai, vangpui thungah doeh akun o ai.
Now Jericho was tightly shut up because of the children of Israel. No one went out, and no one came in.
2 To naah Angraeng mah Joshua khaeah, Khenah, Na ban ah Jeriko vangpui hoi nawnto siangpahrang doeh, thacak misatuh kaminawk doeh, na ban ah kang paek boeh.
The LORD said to Joshua, “Behold, I have given Jericho into your hand, with its king and the mighty men of valor.
3 Vangpui to takui oh, misatuh kaminawk boih hoiah, vangpui to vaito takui oh; to tiah vai tarukto takui oh.
All of your men of war shall march around the city, going around the city once. You shall do this six days.
4 Qaima sarihto mah Angraeng ih thingkhong hmaa ah tuu takii hoi sak ih mongkah to sin o tih; toe ni sarihto naah, vangpui to vai sarihto takui oh; to naah qaimanawk mah mongkah to ueng o tih.
Seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark. On the seventh day, you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets.
5 Nihcae mah tuu takii hoi sak ih mongkah kasawkah ueng o moe, mongkah lok to na thaih o naah, kaminawk boih mah tha hoi hang oh; to pacoengah loe vangpui sipae to amtimh tih boeh; to naah kaminawk boih angmacae hmabang ah katoengah caehsak tahang ah, tiah a naa.
It shall be that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; then the city wall will fall down flat, and the people shall go up, every man straight in front of him.”
6 To pongah Nun capa Joshua mah qaimanawk to kawk moe, nihcae khaeah, Angraeng ih thingkhong to apu oh, qaima sarihto mah Angraeng ih thingkhong hmaa ah tuu takii hoi sak ih mongkah sarihto sin o nasoe, tiah a naa.
Joshua the son of Nun called the priests, and said to them, “Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the LORD’s ark.”
7 Anih mah kaminawk khaeah, Hmabang ah caeh oh, vangpui to takui oh! Maiphaw maica sin kaminawk Angraeng ih thingkhong hmaa ah caeh oh, tiah naa.
They said to the people, “Advance! March around the city, and let the armed men pass on before the LORD’s ark.”
8 Joshua mah kaminawk khaeah lokthuih pacoengah, qaima sarihtonawk loe tuu takii hoi sak ih mongkah sarihto sin o, Angraeng ih thingkhong hmaa ah a caeh o moe, mongkah to ueng o; Angraeng ih thingkhong loe nihcae hnukah bang.
It was so, that when Joshua had spoken to the people, the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the LORD advanced and blew the trumpets, and the ark of the LORD’s covenant followed them.
9 Maiphaw sin kaminawk loe, mongkah ueng qaimanawk ih ahnuk ahmaa caeh o; qaimanawk loe mongkah ueng o moe, hmabangah caeh o poe.
The armed men went before the priests who blew the trumpets, and the ark went after them. The trumpets sounded as they went.
10 Joshua mah kaminawk khaeah, Kai mah hangh han kang thuih ih ni pha ai karoek to lok apae o hmah, hraw-ang o hmah; hangh han lok kang thuih o naah hang oh, tiah naa.
Joshua commanded the people, saying, “You shall not shout nor let your voice be heard, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth until the day I tell you to shout. Then you shall shout.”
11 To pongah Angraeng ih thingkhong hoi vangpui to takui o; vaito takui o pacoengah, angmacae ohhaih ahmuen ah amlaem o moe, to ah atai o.
So he caused the LORD’s ark to go around the city, circling it once. Then they came into the camp, and stayed in the camp.
12 Joshua loe khawnbang khawnthaw ah angthawk, qaimanawk mah Angraeng ih thingkhong to aput o.
Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the LORD’s ark.
13 Tuu takii hoi sak ih mongkah sin qaima sarihtonawk loe, Angraeng ih thingkhong hmaa ah caeh o poe moe, mongkah to ueng o; maiphaw sin kaminawk loe Angraeng ih thingkhong hmaa ah caeh o; toe hnukah kaom misatuh kaminawk loe Angraeng ih thingkhong hnukah caeh o, qaimanawk loe mongkah ueng hoiah caeh o poe.
The seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams’ horns in front of the LORD’s ark went on continually, and blew the trumpets. The armed men went in front of them. The rear guard came after the LORD’s ark. The trumpets sounded as they went.
14 Ni hnetto haih naah doeh vangpui to vaito takui o, to pacoengah atai o haih ahmuen ah amlaem o let; to tiah ni sarihto takui o.
The second day they marched around the city once, and returned into the camp. They did this six days.
15 Ni sarihto naah loe khawnbang khawnthaw ah angthawk o moe, a sak o zong ih baktih toengah, vangpui to vai sarihto takui o; to na ni khue ah vangpui to vai sarihto takui o.
On the seventh day, they rose early at the dawning of the day, and marched around the city in the same way seven times. On this day only they marched around the city seven times.
16 Vai sarihto takui o moe, qaimanawk mah mongkah ueng o naah, Joshua mah kaminawk khaeah, Hang oh! Angraeng mah vangpui to ang paek o boeh.
At the seventh time, when the priests blew the trumpets, Joshua said to the people, “Shout, for the LORD has given you the city!
17 Vangpui hoi athung ah kaom hmuennawk boih to paro oh loe, lokkamhaih hoiah Angraeng khaeah paek oh; aicae mah patoeh ih misa khen kami hnik to hawk pongah, tangyat zaw kami Rahab hoi anih ih imthung takoh kaminawk khue to pathlung oh.
The city shall be devoted, even it and all that is in it, to the LORD. Only Rahab the prostitute shall live, she and all who are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.
18 Toe Sithaw mah la o hmah, tiah thuih ih tangoeng ah kaom hmuen to caeh o taak ah; to tih ai nahaeloe nangcae nuiah kasae pha moeng tih; Israel kaminawk ataihaih ahmuen ah kasae omsak kami hoi raihaih phasak kami ah om moeng tih.
But as for you, only keep yourselves from what is devoted to destruction, lest when you have devoted it, you take of the devoted thing; so you would make the camp of Israel accursed and trouble it.
19 Toe phoisa, sui, sum, sum kamlingnawk hoiah sak ih laom sabaenawk loe Angraeng hanah ciimcai o sak loe, Angraeng ih hmuenmae pakuemhaih thungah suem oh, tiah a naa.
But all the silver, gold, and vessels of bronze and iron are holy to the LORD. They shall come into the LORD’s treasury.”
20 Qaimanawk mah mongkah to ueng o naah, kaminawk to hangh o; kaminawk mah mongkah uenghaih lok thaih o moe, tha hoi hangh o naah, sipae to amtim rup; to naah kaminawk boih angmacae hmaa ah katoengah vangpui thungah akun o moe, vangpui to a lak o.
So the people shouted and the priests blew the trumpets. When the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the people shouted with a great shout, and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight in front of him, and they took the city.
21 Vangpui thung kaom nongpa, nongpata, nawkta, mitong, maitaw, tuu, laa hrangnawk hoi vangpui thung kaom hmuennawk boih to sumsen hoiah paro pae o boih.
They utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, both young and old, and ox, sheep, and donkey, with the edge of the sword.
22 Joshua mah tamquta hoi prae khet han patoeh ih kami hnik khaeah, Tangyat zaw kami im ah caeh hoih loe, anih khaeah lokkamhaih na sak hoi baktih toengah, nongpata angmah hoi a imthung ah kaom kaminawk boih to angzo haih ah, tiah a naa.
Joshua said to the two men who had spied out the land, “Go into the prostitute’s house, and bring the woman and all that she has out from there, as you swore to her.”
23 To pongah prae khen thendoeng hnik loe caeh hoi moe, Rahab, amno hoi ampa, angmah ih nawkamyanawk hoi a tawnh ih hmuennawk boih angzoh hoi haih; angmah ih imthung takoh kaminawk lak boih pacoengah, Israel kaminawk ataihaih tasa bangah oh o sak.
The young men who were spies went in, and brought out Rahab with her father, her mother, her brothers, and all that she had. They also brought out all of her relatives, and they set them outside of the camp of Israel.
24 To pacoengah vangpui hoi athung ah kaom hmuennawk to hmai hoiah a thlaek o boih; toe phoisa, sui, sum, sum kamlingnawk hoiah sak ih laom sabaenawk loe, Angraeng ih hmuenmae patunghaih im ah a suek o.
They burned the city with fire, and all that was in it. Only they put the silver, the gold, and the vessels of bronze and of iron into the treasury of the LORD’s house.
25 Toe Jeriko vangpui khet han patoeh ih kami hnik to a hawk pongah, Joshua mah tangyat zaw Rahab hoi ampa imthung takoh kaminawk boih ih hinghaih to pathlung pae; to nongpata loe vaihni ni khoek to Israel kaminawk khaeah oh.
But Rahab the prostitute, her father’s household, and all that she had, Joshua saved alive. She lives in the middle of Israel to this day, because she hid the messengers whom Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.
26 To naah Joshua mah, Hae Jeriko vangpui pathawk moe, sah let kami loe, Angraeng hmaa ah tangoenghaih tong nasoe; anih loe a calu dung ah vangpui ahmuen sak amtong nasoe loe, a capa asoi dung ah sipae khongkhanawk to thungh nasoe, tiah lokkamhaih to a sak.
Joshua commanded them with an oath at that time, saying, “Cursed is the man before the LORD who rises up and builds this city Jericho. With the loss of his firstborn he will lay its foundation, and with the loss of his youngest son he will set up its gates.”
27 Joshua khaeah Angraeng oh pongah, anih ih ahmin to prae boih ah amthang.
So the LORD was with Joshua; and his fame was in all the land.
