< Joshua 20 >

1 To naah Angraeng mah Joshua khaeah,
And Jehovah speaketh unto Joshua, saying,
2 Mosi patohhaih rang hoiah kang thuih o ih baktih toengah, Israel kaminawk mah abuephaih vangpui tarukto pahoe o hanah thui paeh;
'Speak unto the sons of Israel, saying, Give for you cities of refuge, as I have spoken unto you by the hand of Moses,
3 to tiah ni kami maeto mah poek ai pui hoi kami hum moeng naah, athii tho lu lak koeh kami ban thung hoi loih thai hanah abuephaih vangpui ah om tih.
for the fleeing thither of a man-slayer smiting life inadvertently, without knowledge; and they have been to you for a refuge from the redeemer of blood.
4 Hae vangpuinawk thung ih vangpui maeto ah a cawnh naah, vangpui thung akunhaih khogkha taengah angdoe ueloe, to vangpui thungah kaom kacoehtanawk hmaa ah angmah kawng to taphong tih; to tiah a thuih pacoengah ni anih to vangpui thungah akunsak ueloe, nihcae hoi nawnto oh hanah anih han ohhaih ahmuen to paek o tih.
'When [one] hath fled unto one of these cities, and hath stood [at] the opening of the gate of the city, and hath spoken in the ears of the elders of that city his matter, then they have gathered him into the city unto them, and have given to him a place, and he hath dwelt with them.
5 Athii tho lu lak koeh kami mah anih to patom nahaeloe, anih loe canghniah a imtaeng kami hnukmahaih tawn ai, kami hum koehhaih palungthin hoiah hum ai pongah, vangpui thungah kaom kaminawk mah anih to lu lak koeh kami ban ah paek o mak ai.
'And when the redeemer of blood doth pursue after him, then they do not shut up the man-slayer into his hand, for without knowledge he hath smitten his neighbour, and is not hating him hitherto;
6 Anih to rangpui lokcaekhaih hmaa ah angdoe ai karoek to, to atue thuemah toksah qaima dueh ai karoek to, to vangpui thungah om tih; qaima duek pacoengah ni poek ai pui hoiah kami hum moeng kami to a ohhaih vangpui ah amlaem thai let vop tih, tiah a naa.
and he hath dwelt in that city till his standing before the company for judgment, till the death of the chief priest who is in those days — then doth the man-slayer turn back and hath come unto his city, and unto his house, unto the city whence he fled.'
7 To pongah nihcae mah Kalili prae ih Naphtali mae nuiah Kedesh vangpui, Ephraim mae nuiah Shekem vangpui, Judah mae nuiah Hebron, tiah kawk ih Kirjath-Arba vangpui,
And they sanctify Kedesh in Galilee, in the hill-country of Naphtali, and Shechem in the hill-country of Ephraim, and Kirjath-Arba (it [is] Hebron), in the hill-country of Judah;
8 Jordan vapui yaeh, Jeriko vangpui ni angyae bang ih Reuben acaengnawk ohhaih ahmuen ah kaom praezaek azawn ih Bezer vangpui, Gad acaengnawk ohhaih ahmuen ih Gilead prae ih Ramoth vangpui, Manasseh acaengnawk ohhaih ahmuen Bashan prae ih Golan vangpui to a qoih o.
and beyond the Jordan, [at] Jericho eastward, they have given Bezer in the wilderness, in the plain, out of the tribe of Reuben, and Ramoth in Gilead out of the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan out of the tribe of Manasseh.
9 Hae loe Israel kaminawk hoi nihcae salakah khosah angvinnawk mah, poek ai pui hoiah kami hum moeng naah, hae vangpuinawk ah cawnh o moe, rangpui lokcaekhaih hmaa ah angdoe ai karoek to, athii tho lu lak koeh kami ban thung hoi loih thai hanah, kacawn kaminawk abuephaih vangpui ah oh o.
These have been cities of meeting for all the sons of Israel, and for a sojourner who is sojourning in their midst, for the fleeing thither of any one smiting life inadvertently, and he doth not die by the hand of the redeemer of blood till his standing before the company.
