The LORD spoke to Joshua, saying,
2 Mosi patohhaih rang hoiah kang thuih o ih baktih toengah, Israel kaminawk mah abuephaih vangpui tarukto pahoe o hanah thui paeh;
"Speak to the children of Israel, saying, 'Assign the cities of refuge, of which I spoke to you by Moses,
3 to tiah ni kami maeto mah poek ai pui hoi kami hum moeng naah, athii tho lu lak koeh kami ban thung hoi loih thai hanah abuephaih vangpui ah om tih.
that the manslayer who kills any person accidentally or unintentionally may flee there. They shall be for you a refuge from the avenger of blood.
4 Hae vangpuinawk thung ih vangpui maeto ah a cawnh naah, vangpui thung akunhaih khogkha taengah angdoe ueloe, to vangpui thungah kaom kacoehtanawk hmaa ah angmah kawng to taphong tih; to tiah a thuih pacoengah ni anih to vangpui thungah akunsak ueloe, nihcae hoi nawnto oh hanah anih han ohhaih ahmuen to paek o tih.
He shall flee to one of those cities, and shall stand at the entrance of the gate of the city, and declare his cause in the ears of the elders of that city. They shall take him into the city with them, and give him a place, that he may live among them.
5 Athii tho lu lak koeh kami mah anih to patom nahaeloe, anih loe canghniah a imtaeng kami hnukmahaih tawn ai, kami hum koehhaih palungthin hoiah hum ai pongah, vangpui thungah kaom kaminawk mah anih to lu lak koeh kami ban ah paek o mak ai.
If the avenger of blood pursue after him, then they shall not deliver up the manslayer into his hand; because he struck his neighbor unintentionally, and did not hate him before.
6 Anih to rangpui lokcaekhaih hmaa ah angdoe ai karoek to, to atue thuemah toksah qaima dueh ai karoek to, to vangpui thungah om tih; qaima duek pacoengah ni poek ai pui hoiah kami hum moeng kami to a ohhaih vangpui ah amlaem thai let vop tih, tiah a naa.
He shall dwell in that city until he stands before the congregation for judgment, until the death of the high priest that shall be in those days. Then the manslayer shall return, and come to his own city, and to his own house, to the city he fled from.'"
7 To pongah nihcae mah Kalili prae ih Naphtali mae nuiah Kedesh vangpui, Ephraim mae nuiah Shekem vangpui, Judah mae nuiah Hebron, tiah kawk ih Kirjath-Arba vangpui,
They set apart Kedesh in Galilee in the hill country of Naphtali, Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim, and Kiriath Arba (that is, Hebron) in the hill country of Judah.
8 Jordan vapui yaeh, Jeriko vangpui ni angyae bang ih Reuben acaengnawk ohhaih ahmuen ah kaom praezaek azawn ih Bezer vangpui, Gad acaengnawk ohhaih ahmuen ih Gilead prae ih Ramoth vangpui, Manasseh acaengnawk ohhaih ahmuen Bashan prae ih Golan vangpui to a qoih o.
Beyond the Jordan at Jericho eastward, they assigned Bezer on the wilderness plateau out of the tribe of Reuben, Ramoth in Gilead out of the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan out of the tribe of Manasseh.
9 Hae loe Israel kaminawk hoi nihcae salakah khosah angvinnawk mah, poek ai pui hoiah kami hum moeng naah, hae vangpuinawk ah cawnh o moe, rangpui lokcaekhaih hmaa ah angdoe ai karoek to, athii tho lu lak koeh kami ban thung hoi loih thai hanah, kacawn kaminawk abuephaih vangpui ah oh o.
These were the appointed cities for all the children of Israel, and for the stranger who sojourns among them, that whoever kills any person unintentionally might flee there, and not die by the hand of the avenger of blood, until he stands before the congregation.
