< Joshua 14 >
1 Qaima Eleazar, Nun capa Joshua hoi Israel acaeng zaehoikungnawk loe, nihcae khaeah paek ih, Kanaan praenawk to Israel kaminawk mah qawk ah toep o.
And, these, are the inheritances which the sons of Israel received in the land of Canaan, —which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the ancestral heads of the tribes of the sons of Israel gave them to inherit.
2 Angraeng mah Mosi khae thuih ih lok baktih toengah, acaeng takawtto pacoeng, acaeng ahap ah kaom kaminawk loe, taham khethaih phoisa vah ih baktih toengah qawk to a toep o.
By lot, was their inheritance divided, —as Yahweh commanded by the hand of Moses, unto the nine tribes and unto the half tribe.
3 Mosi mah acaeng hnetto hoi acaeng ahap ah kaom kami hanah, Jordan vapui ni angyae bang ih prae to qawk ah paek; toe Levi kaminawk loe tih qawk doeh paek pae ai.
For Moses had given the two tribes and the half tribe their inheritance over the Jordan, —but, unto the Levites, gave he no inheritance in their midst;
4 Acaeng hnetto ah kaom Joseph ih caanawk loe, Manasseh hoi Ephraim acaeng thuikoehhaih ih ni; Levi kaminawk han prae to paek ai; toe maitawnawk to pacah hanah nihcae ohhaih vangpui hoi a taeng ah kaom long ahmuennawk to a hak o.
for the sons of Joseph became two tribes: Manasseh and Ephraim, —so they gave no portion to the Levites in the land, save only cities to dwell in, with the pasture lands thereof, for their cattle and for their substance.
5 Angraeng mah Mosi khae paek ih lok baktih toengah, Israel kaminawk mah, prae to amzet o.
As Yahweh commanded Moses, so, did the sons of Israel, —when they apportioned the land.
6 Judah kaminawk loe Gilgal vangpui ah Joshua khaeah caeh o; Keniz acaeng Jephunneh capa Kaleb mah anih khaeah, Angraeng mah Kadesh-Bernea ah, Sithaw kami Mosi khaeah nang hoi kai kawng thuih ih lok to na panoek.
Then came near the sons of Judah unto Joshua in Gilgal, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, the Kenizzite, said unto him, —Thou, knowest the word which Yahweh spake unto Moses the man of God in my behalf and in thine in Kadesh-barnea.
7 Angraeng ih tamna Mosi mah prae khet han Kadesh-Bernea hoi ang patoeh naah, kai loe saning quipalito ka oh boeh; ka hnuk ih baktih toengah anih khaeah ka thuih pae let.
Forty years old, was I when Moses the servant of Yahweh sent me from Kadesh-barnea to spy out the land, —so I brought him back word, as was in my heart.
8 Toe kaimah hoi nawnto kacaeh kam nawkamyanawk mah kaminawk ih palungthin to tui baktiah amkaw o sak; toe kai loe ka Angraeng Sithaw hnukah palungthin boih hoiah pazui.
But, my brethren who had been up with me, made the heart of the people melt, —whereas, I, wholly followed Yahweh my God.
9 To na niah Mosi mah, Nang loe palungthin boih hoiah ka Angraeng Sithaw hnukah na bang pongah, na khok hoi cawh ih prae to, nangmah hoi na caanawk mah dungzan khoek to toep o ih qawk ah om tih, tiah lokkamhaih a sak.
So then Moses sware on that day saying, Surely, the land on which thy foot hath trodden, unto thee, shall belong, for an inheritance, and unto thy sons, unto times age-abiding, —because thou hast wholly followed Yahweh my God.
10 Israel kaminawk praezaek ah amhet o naah, Angraeng mah Mosi khaeah lokthuih pae na ni hoi kamtong, a thuih ih lok baktih toengah vaihni ni khoek to, saning quipali, pangato khoek to ang hingsak boeh; khenah, kai loe vaihi saning quitazet, pangato oh boeh.
Now, therefore lo! Yahweh hath kept me alive as he spake these forty and five years from the time Yahweh spake this word unto Moses, while Israel journeyed in the desert. Now, therefore lo! I—to-day, am eighty and five years old:
11 Mosi mah ang patoeh nathuem ih baktih toengah vaihni doeh ka thacak vop; canghnii ih ka thacakhaih baktih toengah, misatukhaih ahmuen ah caeh hanah thacak vop.
I remain, to-day, as courageous as on the day when Moses sent me, as my strength was then, so also my strength is now, —for war, both to go out and to come in.
12 To pongah to nathuem ah Angraeng mah thuih ih lok baktih toengah, hae mae hae vaihi kai hanah na paek ah; hae mae nuiah Anak kaminawk oh o; paroeai kalen, sipae kacakah thung ih vangpuinawk doeh oh, tiah nang mah doeh na thaih boeh; toe Angraeng mah na oh haih nahaeloe, Angraeng mah thuih ih lok baktih toengah, nihcae to ka haek boih thai tih hmang, tiah a naa.
Now, therefore, give me this mountain, whereof Yahweh spake, on that day, —for, thou thyself, didst hear, on that day, that, Anakim, were there, and great cities fortified, if so be Yahweh be with me, then shall I dispossess them, as spake Yahweh.
13 To naah Joshua mah, Jephunneh capa Kaleb to tahamhoihaih paek moe, qawk ah Hebron vangpui to a paek.
So Joshua blessed him, and gave Hebron unto Caleb son of Jephunneh, for an inheritance.
14 Keniz acaeng Jephunneh capa Kaleb loe, palungthin boih hoiah Israel Angraeng Sithaw hnukah bang pongah, Hebron vangpui to vaihni ni khoek to qawk ah a toep.
For this cause, hath Hebron belonged unto Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenezzite, for an inheritance, unto this day, —because he wholly followed Yahweh, God of Israel.
15 Canghnii ah loe Hebron vangpui to Kirjath-Arba, tiah kawk o; Arba loe Anak kaminawk thungah zaehoikung kalen koek ah oh; to nathuem ah prae thungah misa amdinghaih to oh.
Now, the name of Hebron, was formerly, City of Arba, the greatest man among the Anakim, was he. And, the land, had rest from war.
