< Jonah 2 >

1 Jonah loe tanga zok thung hoiah angmah ih Angraeng Sithaw khaeah lawkthuih:
From inside the fish, Jonah prayed to the LORD his God,
2 raihaih ka tongh naah, ka Angraeng khaeah lawk ka thuih, to naah anih mah ang pathim; hell zok thung hoiah nang to kang palawk naah, ka lok nang tahngaih pae. (Sheol h7585)
saying: “In my distress I called to the LORD, and He answered me. From the belly of Sheol I called for help, and You heard my voice. (Sheol h7585)
3 Kathuk tui thungah nang vah, tuipui um li ah nang vah; tuinawk mah kai ang takui o khoep, na tuiphunawk hoi nang ih tui sambanawk mah kai ang uem o.
For You cast me into the deep, into the heart of the seas, and the current swirled about me; all Your breakers and waves swept over me.
4 Kai loe na hmaa hoiah vah ving ah ka oh boeh; toe kaciim na tempul to ka khet let han, tiah lawk ka thuih.
At this, I said, ‘I have been banished from Your sight; yet I will look once more toward Your holy temple.’
5 Tuinawk mah kai ang takui o khoek, ka hinghaih pakhra ang ven o khoep: kathuk tui mah kai ang takui khoep, tuipan mah ka lu to zaeng khoep.
The waters engulfed me to take my life; the watery depths closed around me; the seaweed wrapped around my head.
6 Kai loe mae tlim ih tui thung khoek to ka krak tathuk; tui thung ih long mah dungzan khoek to ang naeh boeh; toe aw Angraeng ka Sithaw, kathuk amrohaih thung hoiah ka hinghaih nang loihsak.
To the roots of the mountains I descended; the earth beneath me barred me in forever! But You raised my life from the pit, O LORD my God!
7 Ka hinghaih pakhra thazok naah, Angraeng to ka poek; to naah lawk ka thuihaih loe nang khaeah, kaciim na tempul thungah dawh tahang.
As my life was fading away, I remembered the LORD. My prayer went up to You, to Your holy temple.
8 Tidoeh athum ai krang poekhaih tawn kaminawk mah, angmacae nuiah palungnathaih katawn Sithaw to angqoi o taak ving boeh.
Those who cling to worthless idols forsake His loving devotion.
But I, with the voice of thanksgiving, will sacrifice to You. I will fulfill what I have vowed. Salvation is from the LORD!”
10 Angraeng mah tanga to lokpaek, to naah tanga mah Jonah to saoeng bangah pathak let.
And the LORD commanded the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land.
