< Johan 8 >
1 Jesu loe Olive mae ah caeh.
but, Jesus, went unto the Mount of Olives.
2 Anih loe khawnbang khawnthaw ah tempul ah caeh let, to naah kaminawk boih anih khaeah angzoh o; anih loe anghnut moe, nihcae to patuk.
And, early in the morning, again, came he into the temple, and all the people were coming unto him; and, sitting down, he began to teach them.
3 To naah ca tarik kaminawk hoi Farasinawk mah sava laep ah zaehaih sah nongpata maeto anih khaeah hoih o; kaminawk salakah nongpata to angdoet o sak pacoengah,
And the Scribes and the Pharisees bring a woman, caught, in adultery; and, setting her in the midst,
4 nihcae mah Jesu khaeah, Patukkung, zaehaih sak li naah hae nongpata hae ka naeh o.
they say unto him—Teacher! this woman, hath been caught in the very act of committing adultery!
5 Mosi ih kaalok baktiah, hae baktih nongpata loe thlung hoi vah maat han oh: toe nangmah loe kawbangmaw na poek? tiah a naa o.
Now, in the law, Moses, [unto us] gave command to stone, such as these. What, then, dost, thou, say?
6 Anih to zae net thai hanah, nihcae mah Anih to tanoek o. Toe Jesu loe lu takhum moe, nihcae ih lok thaih ai baktiah banpazung hoiah long ah ca tarik.
[This, however, they were saying, by way of testing him, —that they might have whereof to accuse him.] But, Jesus, stooping down, with his finger, wrote in the ground.
7 Nihcae mah boeng ai ah Anih to lokdueng o pongah, Anih loe angthawk tahang moe, nihcae khaeah, Nangcae thung ih zaehaih tawn ai kami mah, nongpata to thlung hoi va o hmaloe nasoe, tiah a naa.
When, however, they still continued questioning him, he lifted himself up and said [unto them]—He of you, that is without sin, let him first cast at her a stone;
8 Anih loe takhum moe, long ah ca tarik let.
and, again stooping down, he wrote in the ground.
9 Nihcae mah to lok to thaih o naah, angmacae panoekhaih palung mah angmacae zaehaih to amtuengsak pongah, kacoeh hoi kamtong boeng khoek to, maeto pacoeng maeto tacawt o boih: Jesu hoi toah nawnto angdoe nongpata khue oh hoi sut.
And, they who heard, began to go out, one by one, beginning from the elders, —and he was left, alone; the woman also, being, in the midst.
10 Jesu angthawk naah, nongpata khue ai ah loe, mi doeh hnu ai boeh. Anih mah nongpata khaeah, Nongpata, Nang zaehaih net kaminawk loe naa ah maw caeh o boih boeh? Mi mah doeh lok na caek o ai maw? tiah a naa.
And lifting himself up, Jesus said unto her—Woman, where are they? Hath, no one, condemned thee?
11 Nongpata mah, Angraeng, Mi mah doeh lok na caek o ai, tiah naa. Jesu mah nongpata khaeah, Kai mah doeh lok kang caek ai: caeh ah loe zaehaih sah let hmah lai ah, tiah a naa.
And, she, said—No one, Sir! And Jesus said—Neither do, I, condemn thee, —be going thy way: Henceforth, be sinning, no more.
12 Jesu mah nihcae khaeah lokthuih let, Kai loe long aanghaih ah ka oh: Ka hnukah bang kami loe, vinghaih thungah caeh mak ai, hinghaih to hnu tih, tiah a naa.
Again, therefore, unto them, spake Jesus, saying—I, am the light of the world: He that followeth me, shall in nowise walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
13 Farasinawk mah anih khaeah, Nang loe nangmah hoi nangmah hnukung ah na oh; hnukung ah na ohhaih to amsoem ai, tiah a naa o.
The Pharisees, therefore, said unto him—Thou, concerning thyself, bearest witness: thy witness, is not true.
14 Jesu mah nihcae khaeah, Kaimah hoi kaimah hnukung ah oh cadoeh, Kai loe naa hoiah maw angzoh moe, naa ah maw ka caeh han, tito ka panoek pongah, hnukung ah ka ohhaih loe amsoem: toe nangcae loe Kai naa hoiah maw angzoh moe, naa ah maw ka caeh han, tito na panoek o ai.
Jesus answered, and said unto them—Even though, I, bear witness concerning myself, true, is my witness, because I know whence I came, and whither I go; but, ye, know not whence I come, and whither I go.
15 Nangcae loe taksa baktiah lok na caek o; toe Kai loe mi doeh lok ka caek vai ai.
Ye, according to the flesh, do judge: I, am judging no one.
16 Kai loe kaimah bueng ah ka om ai, Kai patoehkung Pa hoi nawnto ka oh pongah, lok ka caek aep to mah, ka lokcaekhaih loe amsoem.
And, even if, I, am judging, my judging, is, genuine, —because, alone, am I not, but, I, and the Father who sent me;
17 Kami hnetto mah thuih ih lok loe amsoem, tiah nangmacae ih daan thungah tarik ih oh.
And, in your own law, it is written, that, two men’s witness, is, true:
18 Kai loe kaimah hoi kaimah hnukung ah Ka oh, Kai patoehkung Pa doeh Kai hnukung ah oh.
I, am the one bearing witness of myself, and the Father who sent me is bearing witness concerning me.
19 To naah nihcae mah anih khaeah, Nam pa loe naa ah maw oh? tiah dueng o. Jesu mah, Kai doeh Kam Pa doeh na panoek o ai: Kai nang panoek o soe nahaeloe, kam Pa doeh na panoek o tih, tiah a naa.
They were saying unto him, therefore—Where, is thy father? Jesus answered—Neither, me, do ye know, nor yet my Father: If, me, ye had known, my Father also, had ye known.
20 Hae lok loe Jesu mah tempul thung ih phoisa bawm suekhaih taengah patuk nathuem ah thuih pae ih lok ah oh: angmah ih atue pha ai vop pongah, mi mah doeh anih to naeh o ai.
These sayings, spake he in the treasury, teaching in the temple, and yet, no one, seized him, because, not yet, had come his hour.
21 Jesu mah nihcae khaeah lokthuih pae let, Kai loe ka caeh ving han boeh, kai nang pakrong o tih, toe nangmacae zaehaih pongah na dueh o tih: ka caehhaih ahmuen ah nang zo o thai mak ai, tiah a naa.
He said unto them again, therefore—I, go, and ye shall seek me, —and yet, in your sin, shall ye die: Whither, I, go, ye, cannot come.
22 Judahnawk mah, Ka caehhaih ahmuen ah nang zo o thai mak ai, tiah a thuih pongah, angmah hoi angmah anghum han thuih kalang mue, tiah poek o.
The Jews, therefore, were saying—Can it be that he will kill himself, that he saith, Whither, I, go, ye, cannot come?
23 Toe anih mah nihcae khaeah, Nangcae loe atlim bang ih kami ah na oh o; kai loe ranui bang ih kami ah ni ka oh: nangcae loe hae long kami ah na oh o; kai loe hae long kami na ai ni.
And he was saying unto them—Ye, are, of the realms below, I, am, of the realms above: Ye, are, of this world, I, am not of this world.
24 To pongah kang thuih o, Na zae o haih pongah na dueh o tih: Kai loe Anih to boeh ni, tiah na tang o ai nahaeloe, nangmacae zaehaih pongah na dueh o tih, tiah a naa.
Therefore said I unto you, Ye shall die in your sins: For, if ye believe not that, I, am he, ye shall die in your sins.
25 Nihcae mah anih khaeah, Nang loe mi aa? tiah dueng o. Jesu mah nihcae khaeah, Kai loe tangsuek nathuem hoi kang thuih o khing ih kami ah ka oh.
They were saying unto him, therefore—Who art, thou? Jesus said unto them—First and foremost, even what I speak unto you.
26 Lok thuih moe, nangcae lokcaek hanah ka tawnh mangh: toe kai patoehkung loe loktang ah oh; anih khae hoi ka thaih ih hmuennawk ni long khaeah ka thuih, tiah a naa.
Many things, have I, concerning you, to speak, and to judge; but, he who sent me, is, true, and, I, what things I heard from him, the same, speak I unto the world.
27 Jesu mah thuih ih Ampa kawng to nihcae mah thai pae o kop ai.
They noted not that, as touching the Father, unto them, he was speaking.
Jesus, therefore, said—Whensoever ye shall lift up the Son of Man, then, shall ye know, that, I, am he, and, of myself, am doing, nothing; but, just as the Father taught me, the same things, am I speaking.
29 Kai patoehkung loe Kai hoi nawnto oh: Pa mah kaimah bueng na caehtaak sut ai; a koeh ih hmuennawk ni ka sak pae toepsoep, tiah a naa.
And, he that sent me, is, with me: He hath not left me, alone. Because, I, the things that please him, ever do.
30 Anih mah hae loknawk thuih naah, paroeai kaminawk mah anih to tang o.
As he was speaking these things, many, believed on him.
31 Jesu mah Anih tanghaih tawn Judahnawk khaeah, Ka lok ah na oh o poe nahaeloe, ka hnukbang kami tangtang ah ni na oh o.
Jesus was saying, therefore, unto the Jews who had believed on him—If, ye, abide in my word, of a truth, my disciples, ye are;
32 Loktang to na panoek o ueloe, loktang mah na loih o sak tih, tiah a naa.
And ye shall know the truth, and, the truth, shall make you free.
33 Nihcae mah anih khaeah, Kaicae loe Abraham ih atii ah ka oh o, minawk ih tamna ah ka om o vai ai: kawbangmaw na loih o tih, tiah na thuih? tiah pathim pae o.
They made answer unto him—Seed of Abraham, are we, and, unto no one, have been brought into bondage, at any time: How sayest, thou, Free, shall ye be made?
34 Jesu mah nihcae khaeah, Loktang to, loktang ah, Kang thuih o, mi kawbaktih doeh zaehaih sah kami loe zaehaih tamna ah oh.
Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you: Every one who committeth sin, is, a slave, [of sin: ]
35 Tamna loe im ah om poe ai: toe Capa loe oh poe. (aiōn )
Now, the slave, doth not abide in the house, evermore. The Son, abideth, evermore. (aiōn )
36 To pongah Capa mah na loih o sak nahaeloe, na loih o tangtang tih.
If then, the Son, shall make you free, really free, shall ye be.
37 Abraham ih atii ah na oh o, tito ka panoek; toe nangcae thungah ka lok ohhaih ahmuen om ai pongah, kai hum hanah nang pakrong o.
I know that ye are, seed of Abraham; but ye are seeking to kill me, because, my word, findeth no place in you.
38 Kai loe Kam Pa khae hoi ka hnuk ih hmuen to ni ka thuih: nangcae loe nam pa khae hoi na hnuk o ih hmuen to na sak o, tiah a naa.
What things, I, have seen with the Father, I am speaking; Ye, also, then, what things ye have heard from your father, are doing.—
39 Nihcae mah anih khaeah, Abraham loe kaicae ih ampa ni, tiah pathim pae o. Jesu mah nihcae khaeah, Abraham ih caa ah na oh o nahaeloe, Abraham mah sak ih toknawk to na sak o han oh bae.
They answered and said unto him—Our father, is, Abraham. Jesus saith unto them—If, children of Abraham, ye are, the works of Abraham, are ye doing.
40 Toe Sithaw khae hoi ka thaih ih, loktang lok kang thuih o pongah, vaihi Kai hum hanah nang pakrong o, Abraham loe to baktih hmuen to sah ai.
But, now, ye are seeking, to kill me, —A man who, the truth, unto you, hath spoken, which I have heard from God: this, Abraham, did not.
Ye, are doing the works of your father. They said unto him—We, of fornication, were not born: One father, have we—God.
42 Jesu mah nihcae khaeah, Kai loe Sithaw khae hoi tacawt kami ah ka oh, anih khae hoiah ni kang zoh; kai mah koeh ah kang zo ai, Sithaw loe nangcae Ampa ah om nahaeloe, anih mah kai ang patoeh pongah, kai hae nang palung o tih.
Jesus said unto them—If, God, had been your father, ye had been loving me, for, I, from God, came forth, and am here; for, not even of myself, have I come, but, he, sent me forth.
43 Tipongah ka thuih ih lok na thaih o kop ai loe? Ka lok na tahngai o kop ai pongah ni, kalok hae na thaih o kop ai.
Wherefore, is it, that, my speech, ye do not understand? because ye cannot hear my word.
44 Nangcae loe nam pa taqawk ih caa ah na oh o, to pongah nam pa koehhaih sak hanah na koeh o. Anih loe tangsuek nathuem hoi boeh ni kami humkung ah oh, anih thungah loktang om ai pongah, anih loe loktang ah angdoe ai. Anih mah amsawnlok thuih naah, angmah koeh baktiah ni a thuih: anih loe lok amlai kami ah oh moe, lok amlai kaminawk ih ampa ah oh.
Ye, are, of your father—the adversary, and, the covetings of your father, ye choose to be doing. He, was, a murderer, from the beginning, and, in the truth, he stood not; because truth is not in him: Whensoever he speaketh falsehood, of his own, he speaketh; because, false, he is, and, the father of it.
45 Loktang lok ka thuih pongah, Kai nang tang o ai.
But, as for me, because, the truth, I speak, ye do not believe me.
46 Nangcae thungah kai zaehaih net thaih na oh o maw? Loktang bae kang thuih o, tipongah Kai nang tang o ai loe?
Which of you convicteth me of sin? If, truth, I speak, wherefore, do, ye, not believe me?
47 Sithaw kami loe, Sithaw ih loknawk to tahngaih: Sithaw kami ah na om o ai pongah ni, a lok na tahngai o ai, tiah a naa.
He that is of God, heareth, the sayings of God; therefore, do, ye, not hear, because, of God, ye are not.
48 Judahnawk mah anih khaeah, Taqawk na tawnh, Samaritan kami maeto ah na oh, tiah kang naa o ih lok loe amsoem, tiah pathim pae o.
The Jews answered, and said unto him—Do, we, not, well, say: Thou, art, a Samaritan, and hast a demon?
49 Jesu mah, Taqawk ka tawn ai; kam Pa to ni ka pakoeh, toe nangcae mah loe kasae nang thuih o.
Jesus answered—I, have not, a demon, but honour my Father: and, ye, dishonour me.
50 Kaimah hoi kaimah amkoehhaih ka pakrong ai: Ka lensawkhaih pakrong moe, lokcaek kami Maeto oh.
But, I, seek not my glory: There is one who seeketh and judgeth.
51 Loktang to, loktang ah, Kang thuih o, Ka thuih ih lok pakuem kami loe, natuek naah doeh dueh mak ai, tiah a naa. (aiōn )
Verily, verily, I say unto you: If anyone shall keep, my word, death, shall he not see, unto times age-abiding. (aiōn )
52 Judahnawk mah anih khaeah, Taqawk na tawnh, tiah vaihi kang panoek o boeh. Abraham loe duek boeh moe, Tahmaanawk doeh duek o boeh; toe nang mah loe Ka lok pakuem kami loe, natuek naah doeh duekhaih hnu mak ai, tiah na thuih. (aiōn )
The Jews said unto him—Now, we know that, a demon, thou hast: —Abraham, died, and, the prophets, and yet, thou, sayest: If anyone shall keep, my word, in nowise shall he taste of death, unto times age-abiding. (aiōn )
53 Nang loe kaicae ampa Abraham pongah na len kue maw? Anih loe duek boeh, tahmaanawk doeh duek o boeh: nangmah hoi nangmah to kawbangmaw na poek? tiah a naa o.
Surely, thou, art not, greater, than our father Abraham, —who, indeed, died? and, the prophets, died: —Whom, makest thou thyself?
54 Jesu mah, Kaimah hoi kaimah amkoeh nahaeloe, to tiah kam koehhaih to tiah doeh angcoeng mak ai: Anih loe kaicae ih Sithaw ni, tiah na thuih o ih, Kam Pa mah ni Kai hae ang pakoeh:
Jesus answered—If, I, glorify myself, my glory, is nothing: It is, my Father, that glorifieth me, —of whom, ye, say—He is, your God!
55 Anih to na panoek o ai, toe kaimah loe Anih to panoek: Anih to Ka panoek ai, tiah Ka thuih nahaeloe, Kai doeh nangcae baktiah amsawnlok thui kami ah ni ka om tih: toe anih to ka panoek moe, a thuih ih lok to ka pakuem.
And yet ye have not come to know him; but, I, do know him: If I say, I know him not, I shall be like you—false; but I know him, and, his word, am I keeping.
56 Nangcae ampa Abraham loe Kai ih ani to hnuk hanah koeh parai: anih mah hnuk naah, paroeai anghoe, tiah pathim pae.
Abraham, your father, exulted that he should see my day; and he saw, and rejoiced.
57 Judahnawk mah anih khaeah, Nang loe saning quipangato mataeng doeh akoep ai vop, Abraham to na hnuk maw? tiah a naa o.
The Jews, therefore, said unto him—Fifty years old, not yet art thou, and, Abraham, hast thou seen?
58 Jesu mah nihcae khaeah, Loktang to, loktang ah, Kang thuih o, Abraham om ai naah, Ka oh boeh, tiah a naa.
Jesus said unto them—Verily, verily, I say unto you: Before, Abraham, came into existence, I, am.
59 To naah nihcae mah Anih vah hanah thlung akhui o: toe Jesu mah anghawk taak ving, paroeai kaminawk salakah a caeh moe, tempul thung hoiah tacawt ving.
They took up stones, therefore, that they might cast at him; but, Jesus, was hidden, and went forth out of the temple.
