< Job 38 >
1 To naah Angraeng mah takhi kamhae thung hoiah Job ih lok to pathim pae, anih khaeah;
Then spake Jehovah to Job out of the whirlwind, and said:
2 panoekhaih tawn ai ah thuih ih lok hoiah khoving baktiah omsak kami loe mi aa?
Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?
3 Vaihi nongpa baktiah kaeng to angzaeng ah; kang dueng ih lok hae na pathim ah.
Gird up thy loins like a man! I will ask thee, and answer thou me!
4 Long angdoethaih akung ka sak nathuem ah naa ah maw na oh? Na panoek nahaeloe, na thui ah.
Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? Declare, if thou hast understanding!
5 Mi mah maw long tahhaih qui to sak? To tih ai boeh loe mi mah maw a nuiah tahhaih qui to payang? Na panoek nahaeloe pathim ah.
Who fixed its dimensions, that thou shouldst know it! Or who stretched out the line upon it?
6 Long angdoethaih akung to naa ah maw a paeh? To tih ai boeh loe im takii ih thlung loe mi mah maw tlingh?
Upon what were its foundations fixed? And who laid its corner-stone,
7 Khawnbang cakaehnawk nawnto laasak o moe, Sithaw caanawk anghoehaih hoiah hangh o nathuem,
When the morning stars sang together, And all the sons of God shouted for joy?
8 to tih ai boeh loe amno zok thung hoiah tuipui tacawt moe, tapok naah, mi mah maw tuipui thok khah?
And who shut up the sea with doors, When it burst forth as from the womb?
9 Tamai ka sak naah, kathah parai vinghaih hoiah ka khuk moe, ka yaw hmoek,
When I made the clouds its mantle, And thick darkness its swaddling-band;
10 angzithaih ramri to ka suek pae, thok hoi takraenghaih thing to ka suek pae moe,
When I appointed for it my bound, And fixed for it bars and doors;
11 hae karoek to ni nang zoh thaih, hae ahmuen hae na poeng mak ai; nam oekhaih tuiphu loe hae ah boengsak ah, tiah ka naa.
And said, Thus far shalt thou come, and no farther, And here shall thy proud waves be stayed!
12 Na hing thung akhawnbang hanah lok na paek vai moe, akhawnbang khodai hanah angmah ih ahmuen to na patuek vai maw;
Hast thou, in thy life, given charge to the morning, Or caused the day-spring to know its place,
13 akhawnbang khodai mah long boenghaih to patawnh moe, kasae kaminawk tasoehsak maw?
That it should lay hold of the ends of the earth, And shake the wicked out of it?
14 Long loe catui daeng ih baktiah krang to amtueng moe, khukbuen pong ih krang baktih toengah oh.
It is changed as clay by the seal; And all things stand forth as in rich apparel.
15 Kasae kaminawk aanghaih loe anghmat moe, payangh ih ban doeh angkhaeh pae.
But from the wicked their light is withheld, And the high-raised arm is broken.
16 Tuipui tacawthaih akhaw thungah na kun moe, kathuk koek ahmuen ah na caeh vai maw?
Hast thou visited the springs of the sea, And walked through the recesses of the deep?
17 Nang hanah duekhaih khongkha to paong vai maw? To tih ai boeh loe duekhaih tahlip ih thoknawk to na hnuk vai maw?
Have the gates of death been disclosed to thee, And hast thou seen the gates of the shadow of death?
18 Kawk parai long hae na panoek vai maw? Na panoek boih nahaeloe, na thui ah.
Hast thou surveyed the breadth of the earth? Declare, if thou knowest it all!
19 Aanghaih ahmuen phakhaih loklam loe naa ah maw oh? Vinghaih ahmuen loe naa ah maw oh?
Where is the way to the abode of light? And darkness—where is its dwelling-place?
20 Khoving khodai ohhaih ahmuen ah nihcae to na hoi thai tih maw? To hmuennawk ohhaih loklam to na panoek maw?
That thou shouldst lead it to its boundary, And that thou shouldst know the paths to its mansion!
21 Nang loe na tapen boeh, to tih ai boeh loe saning paroeai na hing boeh pongah, na panoek han oh.
Surely thou knowest; for thou wast then born! And the number of thy years is great!
22 Dantui kamkhawk suekhaih imthung ah na kun vai maw? To tih ai boeh loe qaetui patunghaih ahmuen to na hnuk vai maw?
Hast thou visited the storehouses of the snow, Or seen the treasuries of the hail,
23 To hmuennawk loe raihaih tue, misa angkahhaih hoi misa angtukhaih tue nathuem han ih na ai maw ka suek?
Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, —Against the day of battle and war?
24 Aanghaih loe naa ih loklam hoiah maw aang, to tih ai boeh loe ni angyae bang ih takhi loe naa bang ih loklam hoiah maw song?
What is the way to where light is distributed, And the east wind spread abroad upon the earth?
25 Tui longhaih loklam to paqoi moe, tangphrapuekhaih loklam sahkung loe mi maw?
Who hath prepared channels for the rain, And a path for the thunder-flash,
26 Mi mah maw kami om ai praezaek hoi kami om ai, long ah kho angzosak?
To give rain to the land without an inhabitant, To the wilderness wherein is no man;
27 Long karoem, pahnawt sut ih long ah, qam kanawk hoi phro amprawksak hanah mi mah maw sak?
To satisfy the desolate and waste ground, And cause the tender herb to spring forth?
28 Khotui loe ampa tawnh maw? To tih ai boeh loe mi mah maw dantui ohsak?
Hath the rain a father? Or who hath begotten the drops of the dew?
29 Kamkhawk tui loe mi ih zok thung hoiah maw tacawt? Van hoi krah tathuk dantui loe mi ih zok thung hoiah maw tacawt?
Out of whose womb came the ice? And who hath gendered the hoar-frost of heaven?
30 Tuinawk loe siktue naah thlung baktiah amkhawk o.
The waters are hid as under stone, And the face of the deep becometh solid.
31 Kranghoih Pleiades cakaehnawk to qui hoi na zaeng thai maw? Nawnto kangpop Orion cakaehnawk ih qui to na khram thai maw?
Canst thou fasten the bands of the Pleiades, Or loosen the chains of Orion?
32 Atue phak naah Mazzaroth cakaehnawk to na zaeh thai maw? To tih ai boeh loe Akturus to a caanawk hoi nawnto na zaeh thai maw?
Canst thou lead forth the Signs in their season, Or guide the Bear with her sons?
33 Van ukhaih daan to na panoek maw? To baktih daan hoiah long uk hanah na sak thai maw?
Knowest thou the ordinances of the heavens? Hast thou appointed their dominion over the earth?
34 Pop parai tui ang kraih pae hanah, tamai to lok na paek thai maw?
Canst thou lift up thy voice to the clouds, So that abundance of waters will cover thee?
35 Tangphra na pueksak thai maw? Nihcae mah nang khaeah, Hae ah ka oh o, tiah na thui o ueloe, caeh o tih maw?
Canst thou send forth lightnings, so that they will go, And say to thee, “Here we are”?
36 Mi mah maw palunghahaih hoi panoek thaihaih palungthin to paek?
Who hath put understanding in the reins, And given intelligence to the mind?
37 Tamai kroek thaih palungha mi maw kaom? Maiphu loe amtaak moe, longnawk nawnto amhlom o naah, van ih pailangnawk krai thaih mi maw kaom?
Who numbereth the clouds in wisdom? And who poureth out the bottles of heaven,
When the dust floweth into a molten mass, And the clods cleave fast together?
39 Kaipui hanah moi na zoep pae thai maw? To tih ai boeh loe saning nawk kaipui zok nam hahsak thai maw?
Canst thou hunt prey for the lioness, Or satisfy the hunger of the young lions,
40 Nihcae loe thlungkhaw thungah tabok o moe, kapring thung hoiah moi angang o naah, na pacah thai maw?
When they couch in their dens, And lie in wait in the thicket?
41 Pangaah ih caanawk loe rawkcaak tawn ai ah amhet o moe, Sithaw khaeah hang o naah, mi mah maw rawkcaak pacah?
Who provideth for the raven his food, When his young ones cry unto God, While they wander about without food?
