< Job 35 >

1 Elihu mah,
And Elihu went on to say:
2 hae lok loe toeng, tiah na poek maw? Sithaw pongah ka toeng kue, tiah na poek maw? tiah a naa.
“Do you think this is just? You say, ‘I am more righteous than God.’
3 Nang mah, Tih amekhaih maw na hnu tih? Nang mah, Tih atho maw ka hak tih? Zaehaih ka sah ai pongah tih atho maw ka hak tih? tiah na thuih.
For you ask, ‘What does it profit me, and what benefit do I gain apart from sin?’
4 Nangmah hoi nam puinawk khaeah lok pathim han ka koeh.
I will reply to you and to your friends as well.
5 Vannawk ho doeng ah loe, khenah, nang pongah kasang kue tamainawk ho khenah.
Look to the heavens and see; gaze at the clouds high above you.
6 Na zae nahaeloe, na zaehaih mah kawbangmaw Sithaw raihaih paek? Na zaehaih pop parai nahaeloe, to zaehaih mah Sithaw kawbangmaw amrosak?
If you sin, what do you accomplish against Him? If you multiply your transgressions, what do you do to Him?
7 Katoeng kami ah na oh pongah, Anih hanah tih hmuen maw na paek boeh? To tih ai boeh loe na ban hoiah Anih mah tih hmuen maw talawk vai boeh?
If you are righteous, what do you give Him, or what does He receive from your hand?
8 Na sak ih sethaih mah nang baktih kami to raihaih paek; na toenghaih mah loe kami capa han amekhaih ohsak.
Your wickedness affects only a man like yourself, and your righteousness only a son of man.
9 Paroeai pacaekthlaekhaih tongh naah, nihcae mah tahmenhaih hnik o, Thacak Sithaw ih ban pongah nihcae mah abomhaih to hnik o.
Men cry out under great oppression; they plead for relief from the arm of the mighty.
10 Toe mi mah doeh, Aqum ah laa paekkung, kai sahkung Sithaw loe naa ah maw oh;
But no one asks, ‘Where is God my Maker, who gives us songs in the night,
11 long ih moinawk pong pop kue ah aicae patukkung, van ih tavaanawk pongah aicae palungha kue ah sahkung loe naa ah maw oh? tiah thui o ai.
who teaches us more than the beasts of the earth and makes us wiser than the birds of the air?’
12 Kasae kaminawk hoi amoek kaminawk lawkthuihaih lok Sithaw mah pathim pae ai.
There they cry out, but He does not answer, because of the pride of evil men.
13 Sithaw mah avang ai kaminawk tahmenhnikhaih lok to tahngai pae mak ai; Thacak Sithaw mah to baktih loknawk to tiah doeh sah pae mak ai.
Surely God does not listen to empty pleas, and the Almighty does not take note of it.
14 Sithaw ka hnu ai, tiah na thuih cadoeh, anih hmaa ah lokcaekhaih to oh pongah, nang loe anih nuiah amha ah.
How much less, then, when you say that you do not see Him, that your case is before Him and you must wait for Him,
15 Vaihi loe palung a phuihaih hoiah dan na paek mak ai; sakpazaehaih to pakuem khruek mak ai boeh, tiah a poek pongah,
and further, that in His anger He has not punished or taken much notice of folly!
16 Job loe avang ai lok to thuih moe, panoekhaih tawn ai ah pop parai loknawk to a thuih, tiah a naa.
So Job opens his mouth in vain and multiplies words without knowledge.”
