< Job 15 >
1 To naah Taman acaeng Eliphaz mah,
Then answered Eliphaz the Temanite, and said,
2 palungha kami loe takhi hoi kanghmong lokthuih han oh maw? A zok to ni angyae bang ih takhi hoi koisak han oh maw?
Should a wise men utter vain knowledge, and fill his belly with the east wind?
3 Tidoeh avang ai lok, to tih ai boeh loe atho om ai lok thuih han oh maw?
Should he reason with unprofitable talk? or with speeches with which he can do no good?
4 Ue, nang loe Sithaw zithaih to na pahnawt sut boeh moe, Sithaw khae lawkthuihaih doeh na pakaa khoep boeh.
Yes, thou castest off fear, and restrainest prayer before God.
5 Na pakha mah zaehaih to thuih moe, aling thaih kami ih lok to na patoh.
For thy mouth uttereth thy iniquity, and thou choosest the tongue of the crafty.
6 Kai mah zaehaih kang net ai, na pakha mah ni ang net; ue, na palai mah na sethaih to thuih.
Thy own mouth condemneth thee, and not I: yes, thy own lips testify against thee.
7 Nang loe tapen tangsuek kami ah maw na oh? Maenawk sah ai naah sak ah na oh boeh maw?
[Art] thou the first man [that] was born? or wast thou made before the hills?
8 Sithaw khae hoi ih tamqu lok to na thaih vai maw? Palunghahaih tawn kami loe nang khue maw?
Hast thou heard the secret of God? and dost thou restrain wisdom to thyself?
9 Ka panoek o ai ih hmuen, timaw na panoek? Ka thaih o kop ai ih hmuen, timaw na thai kop?
What knowest thou that we know not? [what] understandest thou, which [is] not in us?
10 Nam pa pongah saning coeh, sampok kaminawk kaicae khaeah oh vop.
With us [are] both the gray headed and very aged men, much older than thy father.
11 Sithaw pathloephaih lok to na khawt ai vop maw? Hawk ih hmuen na suek vop maw?
[Are] the consolations of God small with thee? is there any secret thing with thee?
12 Tipongah palung koehhaih to na paroi moe, miktamai hoiah mik na padai loe?
Why doth thy heart carry thee away? and what do thy eyes wink at,
13 To tiah na oh pongah na ai maw Sithaw koeh ai ih hmuen to na sak moe, na pakha thung hoiah lok na tacawtsak?
That thou turnest thy spirit against God, and lettest [such] words go out of thy mouth?
14 Kami loe timaw, anih loe ciim thai tih maw? Nongpata mah tapen ih kami loe toeng thai tih maw?
What [is] man, that he should be clean? and [he who is] born of a woman, that he should be righteous?
15 Khenah, Sithaw loe angmah ih kaciim kaminawk mataeng doeh oep ai; ue, a hmaa ah loe vannawk doeh ciim ai.
Behold, he putteth no trust in his saints; yes, the heavens are not clean in his sight.
16 To tiah nahaeloe zaehaih tui baktih kanae, panuet thok kami cae loe kawkruk maw amhnong tih?
How much more abominable and filthy [is] man, who drinketh iniquity like water?
17 Tahngai ah, kang thuih han vop; ka hnuk ih hmuen to kang thuih han vop;
I will show thee, hear me; and that [which] I have seen, I will declare;
18 palungha kaminawk loe, ampanawk khae hoi hak ih hmuennawk to angphat ai ah thuih o:
Which wise men have told from their fathers, and have not hid [it]:
19 nihcae acaeng han khue ni prae to paek, nihcae salakah acaeng kalah mi doeh om o ai.
To whom alone the earth was given, and no stranger passed among them.
20 Kasae kami loe a hing thung patangkhang, pacaekthlaek thaih kami loe a hing thung karai tong han ih saningnawk to panoek ai.
The wicked man travaileth with pain all [his] days, and the number of years is hidden to the oppressor.
21 Anih ih naa loe zithaih lok hoiah koi; khosak hoih nathuem ah, a nuiah amrohaih to phak.
A dreadful sound [is] in his ears: in prosperity the destroyer shall come upon him.
22 Anih loe vinghaih thung hoi loih hanah oephaih tawn ai; sumsen ni a zing sut boeh.
He believeth not that he shall return out of darkness, and he is waited for by the sword.
23 Anih loe amhet rumram moe, caaknaek to pakrong; a nuiah pha han koi vinghaih ani loe zoi boeh, tiah anih mah panoek.
He wandereth abroad for bread, [saying], Where [is it]? he knoweth that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.
24 Raihaih hoi palungboenghaih mah anih to tasoehsak moe, siangpahrang mah misatuk han amsakcoek baktih toengah, raihaih hoi palungboenghaih mah anih to pazawk.
Trouble and anguish shall make him afraid; they shall prevail against him, as a king ready to the battle.
25 Anih mah Sithaw to ban payangh thuih moe, Thacak Sithaw ih lok aek hanah tha pathok.
For he stretcheth out his hand against God, and strengtheneth himself against the Almighty.
26 Kathah parai misa angvaenghaih aphawnawk to angkhuk moe, Sithaw to a hmang;
He runneth upon him, [even] on [his] neck, upon the thick bosses of his bucklers:
27 anih ih mikhmai loe thawk hruk moe, a kaeng ih ngan doeh tasa bangah tacawt dok.
Because he covereth his face with his fatness, and maketh collops of fat on [his] flanks.
28 Anih loe kamro tangcae vangpuinawk, mi mah doeh om haih ai ih, kamtimh tom imnawk ah ni khosak.
And he dwelleth in desolate cities, [and] in houses which no man inhabiteth, which are ready to become heaps.
29 Anih loe angraeng thai mak ai, anih angraenghaih doeh cak mak ai; long nui khosak naah a tawnh ih hmuennawk doeh pung mak ai.
He shall not be rich, neither shall his substance continue, neither shall he prolong the perfection of it upon the earth.
30 Anih loe vinghaih thung hoi loih thai mak ai; anih ih tanghangnawk loe hmai mah kang ueloe, Sithaw pakha thung ih takhi mah hmut phaeng tih.
He shall not depart out of darkness; the flame shall dry up his branches, and by the breath of his mouth shall he go away.
31 Avang ai hmuen oephaih hoiah angmah hoi angmah to angling hmah nasoe, to tih ai nahaeloe avang ai atho to ni anih mah hnu tih.
Let not him that is deceived trust in vanity: for vanity shall be his recompense.
32 Anih loe atue pha ai naah azaem ueloe, tanghang doeh tacawt mak ai boeh.
It shall be accomplished before his time, and his branch shall not be green.
33 Anih loe hmin ai naah pakhrik ving ih misurthaih baktih, apawk kangmuen olive thingkung baktiah ni om tih.
He shall shake off his unripe grape as the vine, and shall cast off his flower as the olive.
34 Sithaw tidoeh sah ai kaminawk loe azaem o tih; bokhaih tangqum koeh kaminawk ih kahni im loe hmai mah kang tih.
For the congregation of hypocrites [shall be] desolate, and fire shall consume the tabernacles of bribery.
35 Nihcae loe raihaih to zok ah pomh o moe, tidoeh avang ai caa to tapen o; nihcae ih zok loe alinghaih to ni pomh o, tiah a naa.
They conceive mischief, and bring forth vanity, and their belly prepareth deceit.
