< Job 14 >

1 Nongpata mah tapen ih kami loe nawnetta hing nathung raihaih hoiah koi.
Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.
2 Anih loe apawk baktiah ampha tahang moe, azaem roep; tahlip baktiah cawnh, cak poe ai.
He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.
3 To baktih hmuen pongah mik na padai moe, lokcaekhaih hmaa ah nang caeh haih han maw?
And dost thou open thine eyes upon such an one, and bringest me into judgment with thee?
4 Mi mah maw kaciim ai thung hoiah kaciim hmuen to sin thai tih? Mi mah doeh sin thai mak ai.
Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.
5 Kami ih aninawk to kroek moe, khrah nazetto maw oh pae vop, tiah na panoek pae pongah, anih mah poeng thai han ai ah ramri to na sak pae.
Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months is with thee, and thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;
6 Toksak han tlai ih kami baktiah, angmah ih aninawk boeng khoek to, angmah koeh ah oh hanah, anih to angqoi taak ah.
Look away from him, that he may rest, till he shall accomplish, as an hireling, his day.
7 Thing loe pakhruk cadoeh, tadok tacawt let ueloe, tanghang kangtha tacawt let tih, tiah oep han oh.
For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.
8 Long thung ih tangzuun loe mitong boeh pongah, long ah akung dueh cadoeh,
Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground;
9 tui hmui hoiah tadok let ueloe, thingkung kanawk baktiah tanghang tacawt let tih.
Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and put forth boughs like a plant.
10 Toe kami loe duek moe, qong ving; ue, a hinghaih boeng pacoengah loe naa ah maw om vop tih?
But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?
11 Tuipui tui loe anghmat moe, vacong tui doeh kaang king baktih toengah,
[As] the waters fail from the sea, and the river decayeth and drieth up;
12 kami loe angsong moe, angthawk let ai boeh; vannawk anghmaa ai karoek to anglawt mak ai, a iihhaih ahmuen hoi angthawk mak ai boeh.
So man lieth down and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be roused out of their sleep.
13 Aw taprong thungah na hawk ah, palung na phuihaih dip ai karoek to, tamquta hoi na hawk ah! Kai pahnet han ai ah, ka oh han ih atue to na khaek pae ah. (Sheol h7585)
Oh that thou wouldest hide me in Sheol, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me! (Sheol h7585)
14 Kami loe duek pacoengah hing let tih maw? Karai toksakhaih aninawk loe sawk parai cadoeh, kam khraihaih atue pha ai karoek to ka zing han.
If a man die, shall he live [again]? all the days of my warfare would I wait, till my release should come.
15 Nang kawk naah, kang pathim pae han; na ban hoi sak ih hmuen to na koeh.
Thou shouldest call, and I would answer thee: thou wouldest have a desire to the work of thine hands.
16 Vaihi loe ka khok tangkannawk to na kroek moe, ka zaehaih to na khen ai boeh.
But now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin?
17 Ka sakpazaehaih loe pasah thungah catui ka daeng boeh moe, ka zaehaih nang kraeng pae hmoek boeh.
My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and thou fastenest up mine iniquity.
18 Tanim thaih mae loe anghmat boeh moe, lungsong doeh a ohhaih ahmuen hoiah angthuih ving boeh.
And surely the mountain falling cometh to nought, and the rock is removed out of its place;
19 Tuinawk mah thlung to maawtsak moe, tui tha mah long to takhawh baktih toengah, kami oephaih to nam rosak.
The waters wear the stones; the overflowings thereof wash away the dust of the earth: and thou destroyest the hope of man.
20 Kami to na pazawk poe, anih loe anghmat ving boeh; anih ih mikhmai to nam khraisak moe, kalah bangah na patoeh ving.
Thou prevailest for ever against him, and he passeth; thou changest his countenance, and sendest him away.
21 A capanawk mah pakoehhaih hnu o cadoeh, anih mah panoek ai boeh; nihcae atlim ah krah o cadoeh, anih mah panoek pae ai boeh.
His sons come to honour, and he knoweth it not; and they are brought low, but he perceiveth it not of them.
22 Toe anih ih ngan to naa ueloe, a hinghaih palungsae tih, tiah a naa.
But his flesh upon him hath pain, and his soul within him mourneth.
