< Jeremiah 9 >
1 Aw kai kaminawk ih canu humhaih pongah, aqum athun ka qah, ka lu loe tui suih moe, ka mik loe tuibap ah oh boeh.
Who will give water to my head, and a fountain of tears to my eyes? then would I weep for this my people day and night, [even] for the slain of the daughter of my people.
2 Aw nihcae loe zu sava nuiah zaehaih sah kami, oep kaom ai kami ah oh o pongah, kaimah ih kaminawk to ka caeh taak moe, praezaek ah ohhaih ahmuen pakrong han ka koeh boeh.
Who would give me a most distant lodge in the wilderness, that I might leave my people, and depart from them? for they all commit adultery, an assembly of treacherous men.
3 Nihcae loe amsawnlok thuih hanah palai to kalii baktiah anueng o coek boeh; toe nihcae loe long nuiah loktang lok hoi qoeng o ai; zaehaih maeto pacoeng maeto bangah caeh o moe, Kai hae panoek o ai, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
And they have bent their tongue like a bow: falsehood and not faithfulness has prevailed upon the earth; for they have gone on from evil to evil, and have not known me, says the Lord.
4 Nam puinawk nuiah acoe oh; nam nawkamyanawk to oep o hmah; nawkamyanawk loe aling thaih kami ah oh o boih, ampuinawk doeh kasae thui thaih kami ah ni oh o.
Beware you each of his neighbor, and trust you not in your brethren: for every one will surely supplant, and every friend will walk craftily.
5 Nihcae loe angmacae ampui to aling o, loktang to thui o ai; amsawnlok thuih hanah palai to patuk o; zaehaih sak o loiah angpho o boeh.
Every one will mock his friend; they will not speak truth: their tongue has learned to speak falsehoods; they have committed iniquity, they ceased not, so as to return.
6 Nang loe alinghaih um ah na oh, alinghaih pongah kai panoek han koeh o ai, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
[There is] usury upon usury, and deceit upon deceit: they would not know me, says the Lord.
7 To pongah misatuh Angraeng mah hae tiah thuih; Khenah, nihcae to atui ah kam kawsak moe, Ka tanoek han; Kai kaminawk canu hanah kawbangmaw Ka sak pae han?
Therefore thus says the Lord, Behold, I will try them with fire, and prove them; for I will do [thus] because of the wickedness of the daughter of my people.
8 Nihcae ih palai loe duekhaih palaa ah oh moe, alinghaih hoiah lok a thuih o; a imtaeng kami khaeah pakha hoiah angdaehhaih lok to thuih o, toe palung thung hoiah loe Anih han dongh patung pae o.
Their tongue is a wounding arrow; the words of their mouth are deceitful: [one] speaks peaceably to his neighbor, but in himself retains enmity.
9 Hae hmuennawk pongah thuitaek ai ah ka oh han maw? tiah Angraeng mah thuih; to baktih acaeng nuiah danpaek ai ah poek angphohaih hoiah maw Ka oh han?
Shall I not visit for these things? says the Lord: and shall not my soul be avenged on such a people as this?
10 Maenawk to ka qah haih moe, praezaek ih ohhaih ahmuennawk hanah doeh ka oi haih han; mi mah doeh caeh thaih han ai ah, hmai mah kangh boih boeh; kaminawk mah im ah pacah ih moi lok doeh thaih o ai boeh; van ih tavaanawk doeh angpoeng o boih boeh, moi kasannawk doeh cawnh o boih boeh moe, om o ai boeh.
Take up a lamentation for the mountains, and a mournful dirge for the paths of the wilderness, for they are desolate for lack of men; they heard not the sound of life from the birds of the sky, nor the cattle: they were amazed, they are gone.
11 Jerusalem loe anghnoeng tapophaih ahmuen, tasuinawk ohhaih ahmuen ah ka sak han; Judah vangpuinawk doeh, kami om ai ahmuen ah ka ohsak han.
And I will remove the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and make it a dwelling-place of dragons; and I will utterly waste the cities of Juda, so that they shall not be inhabited.
12 Hae hmuen panoek thaih, palungha kami loe mi aa? Hae hmuen thuih thai hanah Angraeng mah lokthuih pae ih kami loe mi aa? Mi doeh caeh thaih han ai ah, prae loe amro boeh moe, praezaek baktiah hmai mah kang boih boeh.
Who is the wise man, that he may understand this? and he that has the word of the mouth of the Lord [addressed] to him, let him tell you therefore the land has been destroyed, has been ravaged by fire like a desert, so that no one passes through it.
13 Angraeng mah hae tiah thuih; Nihcae loe angmacae hmaa ah ka suek pae ih, ka patukhaih lok to pahnawt o, ka lok tahngai o ai moe, pazui doeh pazui o ai;
And the Lord said to me, Because they have forsaken my law, which I set before them, and have not listened to my voice;
14 angmacae poekhaih loklam to pazui o moe, ampanawk mah patuk ih, Baalnawk hnukah bang o lat.
but went after the lusts of their evil heart, and after the idols which their fathers taught them [to worship]:
15 To pongah misatuh Angraeng, Israel Sithaw mah hae tiah thuih; Khenah, hae kaminawk, nihcae loe kakhaa buh to ka pacah moe, kasoetui to ka naeksak han.
therefore thus says the Lord God of Israel, Behold, I will feed them with trouble and will cause them to drink water of gall:
16 Angmacae hoi ampanawk mah panoek o vai ai ih, Sithaw panoek ai kaminawk salakah kam hetsak han; nihcae ka hum boih ai karoek to, sumsen ka patoeh han.
and I will scatter them among the nations, to them whom neither they nor their fathers knew; and I will send a sword upon them, until I have consumed them with it.
17 Misatuh Angraeng mah hae tiah thuih; Kho poek oh, qah thaih nongpatanawk angzoh hanah kawk oh; oi thaih nongpatanawk angzoh thai hanah patoeh oh.
Thus says the Lord, Call you the mourning women, and let them come; and send to the wise women, and let them utter their voice;
18 Kaminawk mah, aicae mikkhraetui long moe, mikkhraetui hoi mik koi ai karoek to ang qah o haih hanah, nihcae to karangah angzo o sak ah.
and let them take up a lamentation for you, and let your eyes pour down tears, and your eyelids drop water.
19 Qahhaih lok loe Zion hoiah angthaih; aicae loe amro o tangtang boeh! Azathaih a tongh o boeh, minawk mah aicae ohhaih ahmuennawk to phraek boih boeh pongah, prae loe pahnawt sut han oh boeh.
For a voice of lamentation has been heard in Sion, How are we become wretched! we are greatly ashamed, for we have forsaken the land, and have abandoned our tabernacles!
20 Aw nongpatanawk, Angraeng ih lok to tahngai oh; anih pakha hoi tacawt lok pongah naa to patueng oh; na canunawk hanah qahhaih lok, a imtaeng kaminawk boih hanah oihaih lok to patuk oh.
Hear now, you women, the word of God, and let your ears receive the words of his mouth, and teach your daughters lamentation, and [every] woman her neighbor a dirge.
21 Duekhaih loe aicae ih thokbuem ah dawh tahang moe, tasa bang ih nawktanawk to hum moe, longhma ih thendoengnawk to hum hanah, aicae ohhaih ahmuen thungah akunh.
For death has come up through your windows, it has entered into our land, to destroy the infants without, and the young men from the streets.
22 Angraeng mah hae tiah thuih, tiah thui paeh; Kadueh qoknawk loe aek batiah azawn ah angsong o tih, cang aat kami mah tahmaih ih cangqui baktiah, mi mah doeh nihcae ih qok to pakuem mak ai.
And the carcases of the men shall be for an example on the face of the field of your land, like grass after the mower, and there shall be none to gather [them].
23 Angraeng mah hae tiah thuih; Palungha kami loe palunghahaih pongah amoek o hmah nasoe, thacak kami doeh a thacakhaih pongah amoek hmah nasoe loe, angraeng kami doeh angraenghaih pongah amoek hmah nasoe:
Thus says the Lord, Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, and let not the strong man boast in his strength, and let not the rich man boast in his wealth;
24 amoek kami mah, Kai loe long nuiah tahmenhaih hoi amlunghaih, katoengah lokcaekhaih, toenghaih sahkung Angraeng ah oh, tiah kai panoekhaih bangah amoek o haih nasoe, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
but let him that boasts boast in this, the understanding and knowing that I am the Lord that exercise mercy, and judgment, and righteousness, upon the earth; for in these things is my pleasure, says the Lord.
25 Khenah, takpum ah khue tangyat hin aat kaminawk thuitaekhaih aninawk to angzoh li boeh;
Behold, the days come, says the Lord, when I will visit upon all the circumcised their uncircumcision;
26 Izip, Judah, Edom, Ammon, Moab hoi praezaek hoi angthla parai ahmuen ah kaom kaminawk boih loe tangyat hin aat o ai, Israel imthung takoh boih doeh palungthin tangyat hin aat o ai, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
on Egypt, and on Idumea, and on Edom, and on the children of Ammon, and on the children of Moab, and on every one that shaves his face round about, [even] them that dwell in the wilderness; for all the Gentiles are uncircumcised in flesh, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised [in] their hearts.
