< Jeremiah 7 >
1 Jeremiah khaeah angzo Angraeng ih lok loe hae tiah oh;
This is the Lord's message that came to Jeremiah from the Lord:
2 Angraeng im khongkha ah angdoe ah loe to ah hae lok hae taphong ah; Angraeng bok hanah hae khongkha thungah akun, nangcae Judah kaminawk boih, Angraeng ih lok hae tahngai oh.
Go and stand in the entrance to the Lord's Temple, and deliver this message: Listen to what Lord has to say, all of you from Judah who are coming in through these gates to worship the Lord.
3 Misatuh Angraeng hoi Israel Sithaw mah hae tiah thuih; Na caehhaih loklamnawk hoi na sak ih hmuennawk to pakhraih oh, to tih nahaeloe hae ahmuen ah kang oh o sak han.
This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel says: Change your ways and do what's right, and I'll let you go on living here.
4 Hae loe Angraeng ih tempul ni, Angraeng ih tempul ni, Angraeng ih tempul ni, tiah amsawnlok thui kaminawk to tang hmah.
Don't believe in those who try and deceive you by repeating, “The Temple of the Lord is here, the Temple of the Lord is here, the Temple of the Lord is here.”
5 Na caeh o haih loklamnawk hoi na sak o ih hmuennawk to na pakhraih o tangtang moe, kami maeto hoi maeto katoengah lokcaek pacoengah,
If you sincerely change your ways and do what's right, if you treat each other fairly,
6 imtaeng kami, angvin, ampa tawn ai kami hoi lamhmainawk doeh pacaekthlaek ai, hae ahmuen ah zaehaih tawn ai kami to na hum o ai boeh moe, aimah nganbawh kana paek hanah kalah sithawnawk to na bok o ai boeh nahaeloe,
if you stop mistreating foreigners and orphans and widows, and if you stop murdering innocent people and stop hurting yourselves by worshiping,
7 dungzan ah toep hanah nam panawk khaeah ka paek ih, hae ahmuen ah kang oh o sak han.
then I'll let you go on living here in the country that I gave to your forefathers forever and ever.
8 Khenah, nangcae loe tidoeh avang ai, alinghaih loknawk to na tang o lat.
But look at you! You go on believing in these deceptions, these worthless words.
9 Na paquk o, kami na hum o, zu sava nuiah zaehaih na sak o moe, amsawnlok na thuih o, Baal khaeah hmuihoih tui na thlaek o moe, na panoek o ai ih kalah sithawnawk hnukah na bang o.
Are you really going to continue stealing, murdering, committing adultery, and lying, burning incense to Baal, and worshiping other gods that you know nothing about,
10 Nang zoh o moe, ka hmin hoiah kawk ih hae im hmaa ah nang doet o, Ka loih o boeh pongah, hae baktih panuet thok hmuennawk sak hanah ka zii o ai, tiah na thuih o han vop maw?
and then come and stand before me in my own Temple and say, “We're safe, so we can continue doing all these offensive things”?
11 Ka hmin hoiah kawk ih hae im loe nangcae mik ah mingcahnawk ohhaih thlungkhaw ah maw na poek o? Khenah, ka hnuk boeh, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
Do you see this house, my own Temple, as a den of thieves? Well, that's what it looks like to me too, declares the Lord.
12 Toe vaihi hmaloe koekah ka hmin caksakhaih ahmuen, Shiloh ih ka ohhaih ahmuen ah caeh ah loe kai ih kasae Israelnawk pongah ka sak ih hmuen to khenah.
So why don't you go to Shiloh where I first made myself a place for me to live with you, and see what I did to it because of the evil my people Israel did?
13 Vaihi Angraeng mah hae tiah thuih, hae baktih hmuennawk boih na sak pongah, nangcae khaeah kang thuih o, khawnthaw ah kang thawk moe, lok ka thuih, toe lok tahngaih han na koeh o ai; kang kawk o, toe nang pathim o ai,
I've warned you time and again about all these things you've done but you've refused to listen, declares the Lord. I've called out to you but you didn't want to answer me.
14 to pongah Shiloh khaeah ka sak ih baktih toengah, ka hmin hoiah kawk ih na oep o haih ih im, nangmacae hoi nam panawk khaeah ka paek ih hae ahmuen khaeah ka sak han.
So now I'm going to do to my Temple, what I did to Shiloh. This is the Temple your put your faith in, the place I gave to you and your forefathers.
15 Nam nawkamyanawk boih, Ephraim ih atiinawk boih ka haek baktih toengah, ka hmaa hoiah kang haek han.
I will throw you out of my presence, just as I expelled all your Israelite relatives, all the descendants of Ephraim.
16 To pongah hae kaminawk hanah lawkthui pae hmah, nihcae hanah tahmenhaih doeh hni pae hmah; kai khaeah doeh tahmenhaih hni hmah, kang tahngai pae mak ai.
You, Jeremiah, are not to pray for these people. Don't cry out to me in prayer for them, don't plead with me on their behalf, because I won't listen to you.
17 Judah vangpuinawk hoi Jerusalem loklamnawk ah timaw a sak o, tito na hnu ai maw?
Can't you see how they're behaving in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?
18 Nawktanawk mah thing to akhuih o, ampanawk mah hmai to tik o, van siangpahrang ih zu hanah, nongpatanawk mah takaw to naep o; kai palungphuisak hanah kalah sithawnawk khaeah naek han koi tui to a paek o.
The children collect the firewood, the fathers light the fire, and the women knead the dough to make cakes for the Queen of Heaven, and they pour out drink offerings to other gods to make me angry and hurt.
19 To tiah maw kai ang pahrue o? tiah Angraeng mah thuih; angmacae mikhmai set hanah nihcae mah na ai maw kai palung ang phui o sak?
But is it really me they're hurting? declares the Lord. Aren't they really hurting themselves and bringing shame on themselves?
20 To pongah Angraeng Sithaw mah hae tiah thuih; khenah, hae ahmuen ah, kami nuiah, taw ih moi kasan nui ah, taw ih thingnawk hoi long ih thingthainawk nuiah, palungphuihaih to ka kraih han; to ih hmai mah paduek thai ai khoek to hmuennawk to kangh tih.
So this is what the Lord God says: Watch! My furious anger and will be poured out on this country, on people and animals, on the orchards and the crops in the field. It will burn and nobody will be able to put it out.
21 Misatuh Angraeng, Israel Sithaw mah hae tiah thuih; hmai hoi angbawnhaih to kalah hmuen tathlanghaih hoi nawnto suem oh, toe moi to loe caa oh.
This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: You can add your burnt offerings to your other sacrifices and eat all the meat yourselves!
22 Nam panawk Izip prae thung hoi ka zaeh naah, hmai angbawnhaih hoi hmuen tathlanghaih kawng to nihcae khaeah ka thui pae ai, lok doeh ka paek ai.
When I led your forefathers out of Egypt I didn't just give them instructions about burnt offerings and sacrifices,
23 Toe nihcae khaeah, Ka lok tahngai oh, to tih nahaeloe nangcae ih sithaw ah ka om ueloe, nangcae doeh kai ih kami ah na om o tih; khosak na hoih o thai hanah, kang thuih o ih loklamnawk hae pazui oh, tiah ka thuih pae.
This is the commandment I gave them: Obey me, and I will be your God, and you will be my people. Follow everything I have commanded you to do, so that all will go well for you.
24 Toe nihcae mah tahngai o ai, naa doeh patueng o ai; hmabang caeh o ai ah palungthahaih, poeksethaih hoiah hnukbang ah amlaem o lat.
But they refused to listen or pay attention. Instead they followed the desires of their own stubborn and evil thinking, so they ended up going backward and not forward.
25 Nam panawk mah Izip prae tacawt o taak nathuem hoi kamtong vaihni ni khoek to, nangcae khaeah ka tamna tahmaanawk to kang patoeh, ni thokkruek khawnthaw ah kang thawk moe, nihcae to nangcae khaeah kang patoeh.
From the time your forefathers left Egypt until now, I have sent you time after time my servants the prophets.
26 Toe nihcae mah ka lok to tahngai o ai, naa doeh patueng o ai, palung a thah o; ampanawk pongah doeh set o kue.
But you refused to listen or pay them attention. Instead, you became more stubborn and rebellious than your forefathers!
27 To pongah nihcae khaeah hae loknawk hae na thuih pae boih; toe nihcae loe tahngai o mak ai; nihcae to na kawk, toe na pathim o mak ai.
When you tell them all this, they won't listen to you. When you call out to them, they won't answer.
28 To pongah nihcae khaeah, Nangcae loe Angraeng Sithaw ih lok tahngai ai acaeng ah na oh o, thuitaekhaih doeh na koeh o ai pongah, loktang lok loe anghmat boeh; loktang lok loe nihcae ih pakha thung hoiah tacawt boih boeh, tiah thui ah, tiah ang naa.
So you have to tell them, “This is the nation that refused to listen to what the Lord their God said, and would not accept the Lord's discipline. Truth has died out; people don't even talk about it.
29 Aw Jerusalem, na sam to aat ah loe vah ving ah; hmuensangnawk ah qah ah; palungphuihaih mah phak thuih ih adung kaminawk loe, Angraeng mah vah ving moe, pahnawt sut boeh.
Cut off your hair and throw it away. Sing a song of mourning on the bare hills, for the Lord has rejected and abandoned the generation who made him angry.”
30 Judah kaminawk loe ka mikhnuk ah kasae hmuen to sak o boeh, tiah Angraeng mah thuih; ka hmin hoi kawk ih im to amhnongsak hanah, panuet thok hmuennawk to a suek o boeh.
For the people of Judah have done what is evil in my sight, declares the Lord. They have placed their offensive idols in my own Temple, making it unclean.
31 Ka thui ai moe, palung thungah doeh ka poek ai ih, a capanawk hoi a canunawk hmaithlaek hanah, Hinnom capa ih azawn ah Topheth hmuensang to a sak o boeh.
They have built pagan shrines at Topheth in the Valley of Hinnom so they could sacrifice their sons and daughters by burning them in the fire. This is something I never commanded. I never even thought of such a thing!
32 To pongah acoe oh, khenah, Angraeng mah hae tiah thuih; kaminawk mah Topheth, tiah kawk o mak ai, Hinnom capa ih azawn, tiah doeh kawk o mak ai, kami humhaih azawn, tiah kawkhaih ani to pha tih; ahmuen kong ai khoek to, nihcae to Topheth ah aphum o tih.
So watch out! The time is coming, declares the Lord, when instead of Topheth and the Valley of Hinnom this place will be called the Valley of Killing. People will bury their dead in Topheth until it's full.
33 Hae kaminawk ih qok loe, van ih tavaanawk hoi long ih moinawk hanah buh ah om tih; to ih moi kasannawk loe mi mah doeh hui mak ai.
The dead bodies of these people will be food for birds of prey and wild animals, and there won't be anyone to scare them away.
34 Judah vangpuinawk, Jerusalem loklamnawk ah oephaih lok, nawmhaih lok, zu paluemh nongpa ih lok, sava sah nongpata ih lok to ka dipsak han; prae loe angqai krang ah ni om tih boeh, tiah a thuih.
I will put a stop to the cheerful sounds of celebration and the happy voices of the bride and bridegroom from the cities of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem, for the country will be turned into a wasteland.
