< Jeremiah 50 >

1 Babylon hoi Khaldian kaminawk misa haih lok kawng pongah tahmaa Jeremiah khaeah angzo Angraeng ih lok loe,
This is the Lord's message that he told Jeremiah the prophet to give about Babylon and the country of Babylonia.
2 prae kaminawk boih khaeah thui oh, tahmaih ai ah kahni to payang oh loe, kami boih panoek o sak ah; Babylon to lak o boeh, Bel sithaw loe azat paw boeh; Merodak sithaw doeh angkhaeh lawt boeh; anih ih krangnawk loe azat paw o boeh moe, koih o boih boeh.
Tell everyone the news! Hold up a sign and shout it out, don't hold back! Tell them, Babylon has fallen! Her god Bel is humiliated; the power of her god Marduk is broken; all Babylon's idols are humiliated and their power is broken.
3 Anih misatuk hanah aluek bang ih prae maeto angzo ueloe, prae to amrosak tih, to prae thungah mi doeh om mak ai; kami hoi moi loe to ahmuen hoiah cawn o boih tih.
A northern nation will come and attack her and turn the country into a wasteland. No one will live there—both people and animals will desert it.
4 To na ni hoi to atue thuem ah, Israel caanawk loe Judah caanawk hoi nawnto angzo o tih; mikkhraetui krakhaih hoiah caeh o ueloe, angmacae ih Angraeng Sithaw to pakrong o tih.
That's the time when the people of Israel and Judah will join together, weeping as they go to worship the Lord their God, declares the Lord.
5 Zion bangah anghae o ueloe, caehhaih loklam to dueng o tih, nihcae mah, Angzo oh, pahnet thai ai lokmaihaih hoiah Angraeng khaeah anghnai o si, tiah thui o tih boeh.
They will ask the way to Zion, and start going in that direction. They will arrive and commit themselves to the Lord in an everlasting agreement that won't ever be forgotten.
6 Kai kaminawk loe anghmaa tuu baktiah oh o; angmacae tuutoep kaminawk mah loklam anghmang o haih pongah, mae nuiah loklam anghmang o boeh; nihcae loe mae hoi maesom bangah amhet o, angmacae anghakhaih ahmuen to anghmang o ving boeh.
My people are sheep that are lost, led astray by their shepherds, making them wander aimlessly in the mountains. They go from place to place in the mountains and hills, forgetting where they used to rest.
7 Nihcae hnu kaminawk mah nihcae to hum o; nihcae ih misanawk mah, Nihcae loe angmacae ampanawk mah oep o ih Angraeng, nihcae toenghaih Angraeng nuiah zaehaih sak o pongah, kaicae mah sak ih hmuen loe zaehaih ah om ai, tiah a thuih o.
All those who came across them attacked them. Their enemies declared, “We're not to blame! They're the ones who sinned against the Lord, their true resting place; the Lord who was the hope of their forefathers.”
8 Babylon hoiah cawn oh; Khaldian prae thung hoiah tacawt oh; tuunawk hmaa ah kacaeh maeh tae baktiah om oh.
Run away from the city of Babylon; get away from the country of Babylonia! Lead the way like the male goats that lead the flock.
9 Khenah, kalen parai aluek bang ih prae kaminawk to ka pahruek moe, Babylon vangpui ah ka hoih han; nihcae mah Babylon tuk hanah amkhueng o ueloe, naeh o tih; nihcae ih kalii loe thacak misatuh kami ih kalii baktiah, kah koehhaih ahmuen to cop ai ah om mak ai.
Look! I'm assembling a coalition of strong northern nations who will come and attack Babylon. They will line up in battle against her; she will be conquered from the north. Their arrows will be like the best warriors—they don't miss!
10 Khaldian loe to tiah amro tih; anih ih hmuenmae lomh kaminawk loe zok amhah o tih, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
Babylonia will be plundered—everyone who plunders her will have plenty of loot, declares the Lord.
11 Aw kai ih qawk lomh kami nangcae loe na kawnh o moe, palung nang hoe o; cang atii maitaw tala baktiah na thawk o hruk moe, maitaw taenawk baktiah nam buu o;
Though for now you Babylonians celebrate and sing triumphantly as you plunder my special people, though for now you jump around like a frisky young cow treading out the grain, and neigh like stallions,
12 to pongah nam no loe anghmang kathok ah khosah tih, nang tapenkung loe azat paw tih; khenah, prae thung boih ah kathoeng koek prae to praezaek, prae karoem hoi prae kangqo ah om tih.
you are going to bring shame on your mother, you are going to disgrace the one who gave birth to you. Watch as she becomes the least important of all the nations, a wilderness, a dry desert land.
13 Angraeng palunghui pongah mi doeh a thungah om mak ai, angqai krang ah om tih boeh; Babylon taengah caeh kaminawk boih dawnrai o ueloe, anih patangkhanghaih to pahnui o thui tih.
Because of Lord's angry punishment, she will be deserted, completely desolate. Everyone who passes by will be horrified at what has happened to Babylon, and sneer at all her wounds.
14 Babylon taeng boih ih misatukhaih ahmuen to la oh; anih loe Angraeg nuiah zaehaih sak pongah, kalii takoih kaminawk, paquem ai ah anih to kalii hoiah kaat oh!
All you archers, line up ready for battle around Babylon. Shoot at her! Don't save your arrows, because she has sinned against the Lord.
15 Anih taeng boih ah hang oh; anih loe ban payangh boeh; anih angdoethaih ahmuen hoi sipaenawk doeh amtim boeh; hae loe Angraeng lu lakhaih ah oh pongah, a nuiah lu la oh; anih mah sak ih hmuen baktih toengah a nuiah sah pae oh.
Shout war-cries against her from every side! She holds up her hands in surrender. Her towers have collapsed; her walls are demolished. This is the Lord paying her back, so you too can pay her back—do the same to her as she did to others.
16 Babylon ah cang aah tue phak naah cangti haeh kami hoi cakra sin kami to anghmat o sak hmah; pacaekthlaek thaih kami ih sumsen to zit pongah, kami boih angmah ih kaminawk khaeah amlaem o ueloe, angmah prae ah cawn o boih tih.
Stop the sower from sowing in the country of Babylon, and stop the harvester swinging the sickle to reap the grain. Under the threat of the enemies' swords, everyone runs home to their own people, they go back to where they came from.
17 Israel loe anghaeh phang tuu ah ni oh; kaipuinawk mah anih to haek ving boeh; Assyria siangpahrang mah anih to caak hmaloe; hnukkhuem koekah Babylon siangpahrang Nebuchadnezzar mah anih ih ahuhnawk to khaeh pae boih.
The Israelites are a flock that's been chased and scattered by lions. The first on the attack was the king of Assyria; then lastly Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon crushed their bones.
18 To pongah misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng, Israel Sithaw mah, Khenah, Assyria siangpahrang ka thuitaek baktih toengah, Babylon siangpahrang hoi anih ih prae to ka thuitaek han, tiah thuih.
So this is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: I'm going to punish the king of Babylon and his country just like I punished the king of Assyria.
19 Toe Israel to angmah ohhaih ahmuen ah ka caeh haih let han, Karmel hoi Bashan ah anih to ka pacah han, Ephraim hoi Gilead mae nuiah anih hinghaih zok to amhah tih.
I will lead the Israelites back to their pasturelands, to feed on Carmel and Bashan, to satisfy their appetites on the hills of Ephraim and Gilead.
20 To na ni hoi atue ah loe, Israel zaehaih to pakrong tih, toe maeto doeh hnu mak ai; Judah zaehaihnawk doeh pakrong tih, toe hnu mak ai; ka pathlung ih kaminawk ni ka tahmen han.
This will be when the guilt and the sins of Israel and Judah will be looked for, but none will be found, because I will forgive those people who remain that I'm looking after, declares the Lord.
21 Merathaim prae hoi Pekod ah kaom kaminawk tuk hanah caeh oh; nihcae to hum oh loe tamit oh, tiah Angraeng mah thuih, kang thuih ih lok baktih toengah sah oh.
Go and attack the land of Merathaim, and the people living in Pekod. Kill them with swords, set them apart for destruction, along with everything they leave behind. Make sure you do everything I have ordered you to do, declares the Lord.
22 Misatukhaih lok hoi amrohaih lok loe prae thungah oh.
The noise of battle is heard in the country, the noise of terrible destruction.
23 Long boih atumhaih caki loe kawbangmaw koih ving moe, Babylon loe kawbangmaw prae kaminawk salakah angqai krang ah oh ving!
See how the hammer of the whole earth is lying broken in pieces in the ground! The nations look with horror on what Babylon has become!
24 Aw Babylon, nang hanah thaang kang patung pae, nang loe panoek ai ah na man boeh; Angraeng ih lok to na aek pongah, nang to ang hnuk moe, ang naeh boeh.
Babylon, I set a trap for you, and you were caught before you realized it. You were hunted down and captured because you fought against the Lord.
25 Angraeng loe maiphaw suekhaih ahmuen to paongh moe, palung a phuihaih maiphawnawk to a sinh; hae tok loe Khaldian kaminawk ih prae thungah misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng Sithaw mah sak ih tok ah oh.
In his anger the Lord opened his armory to bring out his weapons, for this is what the Lord God Almighty is doing in the country of Babylonia.
26 Kangthla parai ahmuen hoiah anih tuk hanah angzo oh loe, anih ih hmuenmae suekhaih imnawk to paong oh; anih to kamro hmuen angpop baktiah tapop oh loe, hnukkhuem ah paro oh; maeto doeh tahmat o hmah nasoe.
Come and attack her from every side! Open her granaries; collect the loot you take from her like piles of grain. Set her apart for destruction; don't leave any survivors.
27 Anih ih maitaw taenawk to bop o boih ah; nihcae loe bohhaih ahmuen ah caeh o tathuk nasoe; nihcae loe khosak bing o! Nihcae thuitaekhaih ni hoi atue loe phak boeh.
Kill all her young bulls with the sword; let them be slaughtered. What a disaster for them, because their time has come when they're punished.
28 Kaicae Angraeng Sithaw lu lakhaih hoi anih ih tempul lu lakhaih loe Babylon prae thung hoi kaloih, kacawn kaminawk mah Zion ah taphong o boeh.
(Listen to the refugees and survivors who have returned from Babylonia, announcing in Zion, “The Lord our God is paying them back for what happened to his Temple.”)
29 Babylon kah hanah kalii kaat thaih kaminawk to kawk cuu ah; anih to takui o khoep ah, maeto doeh pathlung o hmah; anih mah Israel Ciimcai Kami, Angraeng to amoek thuih pongah, a sak ih hmuen baktiah pathok oh; a sak ih hmuennawk boih baktiah a nuiah sah pae o toeng ah.
Call up the archers to attack Babylon, yes, all of them! Completely surround her—don't let anyone escape. Pay her back for what she's done, because in her pride she defied the Lord, Israel's Holy One.
30 To pongah thendoengnawk loe loklam ah amtim o tih, to na niah loe Babylon misatuh kaminawk to sung o tih, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
As a result her young men will be killed in the streets; all her soldiers will die that day, declares the Lord.
31 Aw amoek kami nang, khenah, nang to kang tuk han boeh, tiah misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng Sithaw mah thuih; nang kang thuitaekhaih ni hoi atue loe phak boeh.
Watch out, because I'm against you, you arrogant people! declares the Lord God Almighty. Your time has come when I will punish you.
32 Amoek kami loe amthaek ueloe, amtim tih, mi mah doeh pathawk mak ai; anih ih vangpuinawk to hmai hoiah ka thlaek pae han, a taengah kaom kaminawk boih hmai mah kang tih.
You arrogant people will trip and fall. Nobody will be there to pick you up. I'm going to set fire to your towns and burn up everything around you.
33 Misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng Sithaw mah, Israel hoi Judah loe pacaekthlaek ih kami ah oh o; naeh kaminawk mah nihcae to misong ah suek o, prawt han koeh o ai, tiah thuih.
This is what the Lord Almighty says: The people of Israel and Judah are being mistreated. All who captured them are holding onto them, refusing to let them go.
34 Toe nihcae krangkung loe thacak; anih loe misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng, tiah ahmin oh; nihcae to Angraeng mah angsak haih tih, nihcae han prae monghaih to paek ueloe, monghaih om ai hmuen to Babylon ah sin pae lat tih.
But the one who rescues them is powerful; the Lord Almighty is his name. He will defend them and their cause, so he may bring peace on earth, but trouble to the people of Babylon.
35 Sumsen loe Khaldian kaminawk, Babylon ah kaom kaminawk, anih ih angraengnawk, anih ih palungha kaminawk nuiah oh boeh, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
A sword is raised to attack the Babylonians, declares the Lord, ready to attack those who live in Babylon, and her officials and wise men.
36 Lok amlai kaminawk nuiah sumsen phak naah, nihcae loe amthu o tih; thacak misatuh kaminawk nuiah sumsen phak naah, nihcae palung boeng o tih.
A sword is raised to attack her false prophets, and they will become fools. A sword is raised to attack her soldiers, and they will be terrified.
37 Sumsen loe hrangnawk, hrang lakoknawk hoi anih khaeah kaom congca kaminawk nuiah pha tih; nihcae loe nongpatanawk baktiah om o tih; hmuenmae suekhaih ahmuen ah sumsen phak naah, misanawk mah hmuenmae to lomh o boih tih.
A sword is raised to attack her horses and chariots, along with all the foreign soldiers with her, and they will become like frightened women. A sword is raised to attack her stores of treasure, and they will be plundered.
38 Vangpui thungah tui kanghaih oh pongah, tuinawk loe kang o boih tih; to prae loe krangnawk hoiah koi, prae kaminawk loe a sak o ih krangnawk to oep o lat.
A drought has hit her rivers, and they will dry up. For it's a country full of pagan images. These horrible idols drive their worshipers mad.
39 To ahmuen ah praezaek ih moisannawk, tasuinawk hoi bukbuhnawk ni om o tih; mi doeh to ahmuen ah om mak ai; adung maeto pacoeng maeto khoek to kami mah om haih mak ai boeh.
Consequently desert animals and hyenas will live there, and it will be a home for owls. It will be uninhabited forever—it won't be lived in from one generation to the next.
40 Sithaw mah Sodom hoi Gomorrah, a taeng ih vangpuinawk vah phaeng baktiah om tih, tiah Angraeng mah thuih; to pongah mi doeh to ah om mak ai, kawbaktih kami doeh a thungah om mak ai.
In the same way that God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighboring towns, declares the Lord, no one will live there, no one will stay there.
41 Khenah, kami acaeng maeto aluek bang hoiah angzo tih, long boenghaih hoiah thacak acaeng hoi siangpahrangnawk angthawk o tih.
Look! An army is advancing from the north. A great nation and many kings are coming against you from the distant lands.
42 Nihcae loe kalii hoi tayae to sinh o; hmawsaeng o parai, tahmenhaih tawn o mak ai; nihcae loe hrang nuiah angthueng o tih, nihcae ih lok loe tuipui tuen baktiah tuen tih; Aw Babylon canu, kami boih misatuh kami baktiah amthoep o ueloe, nang tuk hanah angzo o tih.
They're carrying bows and javelins. They are cruel and merciless. When they shout it's like the sea roaring. They ride on horses and attack in formation against you, people of Babylon.
43 Babylon siangpahrang mah nihcae ih tamthang to thaih naah, a ban thazok pae sut; nongpata ca tapen nathuem ih kana baktiah, kanung parai nathaih mah anih to patawnh caeng boeh.
The king of Babylon has heard the news and he's terrified. He's overcome with fear, in pain like a woman in labor.
44 Khenah, anih loe Jordan taw hoi phroh saihaih ahmuen ah angzo tahang kaipui baktiah angzo tih; toe nihcae loe Babylon prae thung hoiah ka cawnsak ving han; anih nuiah suek han ka qoih ih kami loe mi aa? Kai hoi anghmong mi maw kaom? Mi maw Kai han atue khaek thaih? Ka hmaa ah angdoe thai koi tuutoep kami mi maw kaom? tiah a thuih.
Watch out! I'm going to come like a lion from the tangled undergrowth beside the Jordan to attack the animals grazing the green pasture. In fact I'm going to chase the Babylonians from their land very quickly. Who will I choose to conquer them? Who is like me? Who can challenge me? Which leader could oppose me?
45 To pongah Babylon tuk hanah Angraeng mah thuih ih lok, anih amsakhaihnawk, Khaldian kaminawk ih prae tuk han pacaenghaih to tahngai oh; misa mah thacak ai tuunawk to lomh pae ving ueloe, nihcae ohhaih ahmuen doeh amrosak tangtang tih.
So listen to what the Lord has planned to do to Babylon and the country of Babylonia: Their children will be dragged away like lambs from the flock, and because of them their pasture will become a wasteland.
46 Babylon vangpui tukhaih lok pongah long to anghuen ueloe, qahhaih lok loe prae kaminawk boih khaeah amthang tih.
The sound of Babylon's capture will make the earth shake; their cries will be heard throughout the nations.
