< Jeremiah 5 >
1 Jerusalem loklam boih ah ahnuk ahma cawn oh, poek oh loe ahmuen boih to pakrong oh, toenghaih sah kami, loktang pakrong kami maeto na hnuk o thaih nahaeloe, hae vangpui hae ka tahmen han.
Run ye about in the streets of Jerusalem, and see, and know, and seek in her broad places, if ye can find [one], if there is any one that does judgment, and seeks faithfulness; and I will pardon them, saith the Lord.
2 Nihcae mah, Angraeng loe hing, tiah thuih o e, ka hmin hoiah a sak o ih nihcae lokkamhaih loe amsawn ni.
The Lord lives, they say; do they not therefore swear falsely?
3 Aw Angraeng, na mik mah loe loktang na ai maw pakrong? Nihcae to na thuitaek e, kana panoek o ai; nam rosak, toe na thuitaekhaih to talawk o ai; nihcae ih mikhmai loe thlung pongah amtaak o kue; dawnpakhuem han koeh o ai.
O Lord, thine eyes are upon faithfulness: thou hast scourged them, but they have not grieved; thou hast consumed them; but they would not receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; and they would not return.
4 To pongah kaimah, tangtang ni hae kaminawk loe amtang o moe, amthu o; Angraeng ih loklam to panoek o ai, angmacae Sithaw lokcaekhaih doeh panoek o ai.
Then I said, It may be they are poor; for they are weak, for they know not the way of the Lord, or the judgment of God.
5 To pongah zaehoikungnawk khaeah ka caeh moe, lok ka thuih pae han; nihcae loe Angraeng ih loklam hoi angmacae Sithaw lokcaekhaih to panoek o; toe nihcae mah hnam to khaeh o moe, qui doeh taprawt o pat.
I will go to the rich men, and will speak to them; for they have known the way of the Lord, and the judgment of God: but, behold, with one consent they have broken the yoke, they have burst the bonds.
6 To pongah taw ih kaipui mah nihcae to kaek tih, duembang ah kavak tasuinawk mah nihcae ih moi to caa o tih; kaithlaeng mah nihcae ih vangpuinawk to toep ueloe, vangpui thung hoi tacawt kami to taprawt pet boih tih; nihcae zaehaih loe pop parai moe, loklam amkhraeng o pongah to tiah oh o.
Therefore has a lion out of the forest smitten them, and a wolf has destroyed them even to [their] houses, and a leopard has watched against their cities: all that go forth from them shall be hunted: for they have multiplied their ungodliness, they have strengthened themselves in their revoltings.
7 To baktih zaehaih pongah kawbangmaw kang tahmen thai tih? Ka caanawk mah ang pahnawt o sut moe, sithaw ah kaom ai hmuennawk khaeah lokkamhaih a sak o; zok kam hahsak naah, daan ai ah zaehaih a sak o moe, tangyat zawhaih ahmuen ah amkhueng o.
In what [way] shall I forgive thee for these things? Thy sons have forsaken me, and sworn by them that are no gods: and I fed them to the full, and they committed adultery, and lodged in harlots' houses.
8 Nihcae loe rawkcak kamhah ah pacah ih hrang tae baktiah, imtaeng kami ih zu to a khit o moe, a zae o haih boeh.
They became as wanton horses: they neighed each one after his neighbour's wife.
9 To baktih hmuennawk pongah thuitaek ai ah ka om tih maw? tiah Angraeng mah thuih; to baktih acaengnawk to danpaek ai ah poek angphohaih hoiah ka om tih maw?
Shall I not visit for these things? saith the Lord: and shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this.
10 Nihcae ih tapang nuiah daw oh loe phrae oh; toe phrae o boih hmah; tanghangnawk to athlik oh, nihcae loe Angraeng ih tanghang na ai ni.
Go up upon her battlements, and break [them] down; but make not a full end: leave her buttresses: for they are the Lord's.
11 Israel imthung takoh hoi Judah imthung takohnawk loe, ka nuiah oepthok ai, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
For the house of Israel have indeed dealt treacherously against me, saith the Lord: the house of Juda also
12 Nihcae loe Angraeng to aling o; anih mah tidoeh sah tang mak ai; aicae nuiah sethaih doeh phasak tang mak ai; sumsen hoi khokhahaih doeh a tongh o tangtang mak ai:
have lied to their Lord, and they have said, These things are not so; no evils shall come upon us; and we shall not see sword or famine.
13 tahmaanawk loe takhi khue ni, nihcae thungah lok to om ai; to pongah a thuih o ih lok baktiah nihcae nuiah om nasoe, tiah a thuih o.
Our prophets became wind, and the word of the Lord was not in them.
14 To pongah misatuh Angraeng Sithaw mah hae tiah thuih; Hae lok hae na thuih o pongah, khenah, ka lok to nangcae ih pakha ah hmai baktiah ka ohsak moe, hae kaminawk hae thing baktiah ka ohsak han, nihcae loe hmai mah kang tih.
Therefore thus saith the Lord Almighty, Because ye have spoken this word, behold, I have made my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.
15 Aw Israel imthung takoh, khenah, nangcae tuk hanah prae kangthla hoiah acaeng maeto ka hoih han, nihcae loe thacak o moe, canghnii hoi kaom acaeng ah oh o; nihcae ih lok to na panoek o mak ai.
Behold, I [will] bring upon you a nation from far, O house of Israel, saith the Lord; a nation the sound of whose language one shall not understand.
16 Nihcae ih kalii tabu loe kamong sut taprong baktiah oh, nihcae loe misatuk thacak kami ah oh o.
[They are] all mighty men:
17 Na capanawk hoi na canunawk mah caak han ih thingthai qumpo hoi takawnawk to nihcae mah caa o king tih; tuunawk hoi na pacah ih moinawk doeh nihcae mah caa o king ueloe, nang ih misurkung hoi thaiduet thingnawk doeh caa o boih tih; na oep ih kacak sipae hoi pakaa ih vangpuinawk doeh nihcae mah sumsen hoiah phrae o boih tih.
and they shall devour your harvest, and your bread; and shall devour your sons, and your daughters; and they shall devour your sheep, and your calves, and devour your vineyards, and your fig-plantations, and your olive yards: and they shall utterly destroy your strong cities, wherein ye trusted, with the sword.
18 Toe to batkih niah doeh nangcae to kang tahmat o boih mak ai.
And it shall come to pass in those days, saith the Lord thy God, that I will not utterly destroy you.
19 Kaminawk mah, Tipongah aicae Angraeng Sithaw mah aicae nuiah hae baktih hmuennawk a sak loe? tiah dueng naah, nangcae mah nihcae khaeah, Nang pahnawt o sut moe, na prae thungah minawk kalah sithawnawk na bok o baktih toengah, nangmacae ih prae ai, kalah kaminawk ih tok to na sah o tih, tiah thui paeh, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
And it shall come to pass, when ye shall say, Wherefore has the Lord our God done all these things to us? that thou shalt say to them, Because ye served strange gods in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land that is not yours.
20 Hae lok hae Jakob imthung takoh ah taphong ah, Judah prae thungah thui ah,
Proclaim these things to the house of Jacob, and let them be heard in the house of Juda.
21 Aw kamthu hoi panoekhaih tawn ai kaminawk, mik na tawnh o e, na hnu o thai ai, naa doeh na tawnh o, thaih kophaih tawn ai kaminawk hae lok hae tahngai oh:
Hear ye now these things, O foolish and senseless people; who have eyes, and see not; and have ears, and hear not:
22 Kai nang zii o ai maw? tiah Angraeng mah thuih; ka hmaa ah na tasoeh o han ai maw? Tuipui mah a caehhaih loklam caeh voek han ai, dungzan angzithaih ramri ah oh hanah, kaimah ni savuet to ka sak; tuiphu mah tanawt khing cadoeh, payawk thai mak ai; atuen apawk hoi angthawk o moe, tanawt o cadoeh poeng o thai mak ai.
will ye not be afraid of me? saith the Lord; and will ye not fear before me, who have set the sand for a bound to the sea, [as] a perpetual ordinance, and it shall not pass it: yea, it shall rage, but not prevail; and its waves shall roar, but not pass over it.
23 Toe hae kaminawk loe palungthah o moe, lokaek koehhaih palungthin to a tawnh o; lok a aek o moe, kalah bangah a caeh o ving.
But this people has a disobedient and rebellious heart; and they have turned aside and gone back:
24 Nihcae loe atue phak naah, kho angzosakkung, hmaloe hoi hnukkhuem ih kho angzosakkung, cang aahhhaih atue hoi thingthai qumpo lakhaih atuenawk paekkung, aicae Angraeng Sithaw to zii o si, tiah thuih ih palungthin roe tawn o ai.
and they have not said in their heart, Let us fear now the Lord our God, who gives us the early and latter rain, according to the season of the fulfillment of the ordinance of harvest, and has preserved [it] for us.
25 Na sakpazae o haih mah hae hmuennawk hae pakha ving moe, na zae o haih mah kahoih hmuennawk to pakaa khoep boeh.
Your transgressions have turned away these things, and your sins have removed good things from you.
26 Kasae kaminawk loe kai ih kaminawk salakah oh o; nihcae loe tavaa han dongh patung kaminawk baktih, kami naeh hanah, dongh patung kaminawk baktiah, kaminawk to angang o.
For among my people were found ungodly men; and they have set snares to destroy men, and have caught [them].
27 Tabu koi mongah kaom tavaa baktiah nihcae ih im loe alinghaih hoiah koi; to pongah nihcae loe lensawk o moe, angraeng ah angcoeng o.
As a snare which has been set is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore have they grown great, and become rich:
28 Nihcae loe thawk o hruk, mikhmai doeh ampha o; nihcae loe kasae kaminawk pongah doeh set o kue; toenghaih hoiah lok to caek o ai; ampa tawn ai kaminawk to angdoe o haih ai; toe nihcae loe khosak hoih o; amtang kaminawk to toenghaih hoiah lokcaek pae o ai.
and they have transgressed [the rule of] judgment; they have not judged the cause of the orphan, nor have they judged the cause of the widow.
29 Hae hmuennawk pongah nihcae to ka thuitaek mak ai maw? tiah Angraeng mah thuih; hae baktih prae nui ah lu la ai ah poek angpho hoiah ka oh han maw?
Shall I not visit for these things? saith the Lord: and shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
30 Dawnrai koi hmuen hoi zitthok hmuen to prae thungah a sak o boeh;
Shocking and horrible deeds have been done on the land;
31 tahmaanawk mah amsawnlok to thuih o moe, qaimanawk mah doeh angmacae koeh baktiah uk o; to baktih toksakhaih to kai ih kaminawk mah koeh o; toe boenghaih ah loe kawbangmaw na sak o han?
the prophets utter unrighteous prophecies, and the priests have clapped their hands: and my people has loved [to have it] thus: and what will ye do for the future.
