< Jeremiah 49 >

1 Ammon kaminawk kawng pongah, Angraeng mah hae tiah thuih; Israel loe capa tawn ai maw? Qawktoepkung tawn ai ah maw a oh? To tih nahaeloe tipongah nihcae ih siangpahrang mah Gad acaeng to qawk ah lak moe, anih ih kaminawk vangpui thungah khosak o loe?
Concerning the children of Ammon. Thus saith Jehovah: Hath Israel no sons? Hath he not an heir? Why then doth Milcom inherit Gad, And his people dwell in his cities?
2 To pongah khenah, Ammon kaminawk ohhaih Rabbah ah misa angtukhaih lok thaihaih atue to pha tih; to ahmuen loe tapop cuu ih ahmuen kamro ah om ueloe, a canunawk to hmai hoiah thlaek o tih, tiah Angraeng Sithaw mah thuih; to naah Ammon mah toep han koi hmuen to Israel mah toep tih boeh, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
Therefore, behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, That I will cause a cry of war to be heard against Rabbah of the sons of Ammon, And she shall become a ruinous heap, And her daughters shall be burned with fire; And Israel shall take possession of their land, who took possession of his.
3 Aw Heshbon hang ah, Ai loe amro boeh! Nangcae Rabbah canunawk, kazii to angzaeng oh; qah oh loe sipae taengah ahnuk ahmaa cawn oh, nihcae ih siangpahrang loe angmah ih qaimanawk, angraengnawk hoi nawnto misong ah caeh tih boeh.
Howl, O Heshbon, for Ai is laid waste! Cry, ye daughters of Rabbah, Gird yourselves with sackcloth, lament, And run ye to and fro within the fences! For Milcom goeth into captivity, His priests and his princes together.
4 Kai tuk hanah mi maw angzo tih, tiah kathui, a tawnh o ih hmuenmae oephaih hoiah hnukbang ah amlaem canunawk, tipongah athii longhaih ah kaom azawn to nam oek o haih loe?
Wherefore dost thou glory in the valleys? Thy valley shall flow [[with blood]], O perverse daughter, That gloriest in thy treasures, [[Saying, ]] “Who shall come against me?”
5 Khenah, na nuiah tasoehhaih phaksak hanah, na taengah kaom kaminawk to kang patoeh han, tiah misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng mah thuih; nangcae to na haek o boih tih, mi mah doeh kamhet kaminawk to tacuu let mak ai.
Behold, I will bring a terror upon thee, saith Jehovah of hosts, From all those that are around thee, And ye shall be driven out, every one right forth, And there shall be none to gather up the fugitives.
6 To pacoengah ni, Ammon kaminawk to misong thung hoiah ka zaeh let han, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
But after this will I bring back the captivity of the sons of Ammon, saith Jehovah.
7 Edom kawng pongah, misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng Sithaw mah hae tiah thuih; Teman ah palunghahaih om ai boeh maw? Palungha kaminawk mah paek ih poekhaih loe anghmat boeh maw?
Concerning the Edomites. Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Is wisdom no more in Teman? Is counsel passed away from the prudent? Is their wisdom vanished?
8 Nangcae Dedan ah kaom kaminawk, hnuk angqoi oh, cawn oh loe, kathuk ahmuen ah anghawk oh; Esau thuitaekhaih ni, amrohaih to na nuiah ka phaksak han.
Flee ye, turn ye back, Dwell in deep places, O ye inhabitants of Dedan! For the destruction of Esau do I bring, The time of his punishment upon him.
9 Misurthaih pakhrik kaminawk mah athaih pakhrik han ih nangcae khaeah angzoh o naah, misurthaih pakhrik boih ai ah zetta anghmat o sak na ai maw? Paquk hanah aqum ah kamqu angzoh naah doeh a koeh ih hmuen khue na ai maw paquk?
If grape-gatherers had come upon thee, Would they not have left some gleanings? If thieves by night, They would have destroyed only till they had enough.
10 Toe Esau ih khukbuen to ka khram pae han; anih anghawkhaih ahmuen to kam tuengsak han, anih loe anghawk thai mak ai; a caanawk, angmah ih nawkamyanawk hoi a imtaeng kaminawk to amro o ueloe, angmah to doeh anghmaa angtaa tih.
But I will make Esau bare; I will uncover his hiding-places, So that he shall not be able to hide himself. His offspring shall be destroyed, and his brethren, and his neighbors, And he shall be no more.
11 Amno ampa tawn ai nawktanawk to caehtaak ah; nihcae to ka khetzawn han; nangcae khae kaom lamhmainawk mah kai hae oep o nasoe.
Leave thy fatherless children, I will preserve them alive, And thy widows, let them trust in me!
For thus saith Jehovah: Behold, they who ought not to have drunk the cup have deeply drunken, And shalt thou go altogether unpunished? Thou shalt not go unpunished; Thou shalt surely drink.
13 Bozrah prae loe amrohaih, kasaethuihaih, pong suthaih hoi tangoenghaih ah om tih; vangpuinawk doeh dungzan khoek to amro poe hanah, lokkamhaih to ka sak boeh, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
For by myself have I sworn, saith Jehovah, That Bozrah shall become an astonishment, A reproach, a desolation, and a curse; And all her cities shall be perpetual wastes.
14 Angraeng hanghaih lok to ka thaih boeh; Nawnto angpop oh, Edom tuk hanah angzo oh loe misatuk hanah angthawk oh! tiah a thuih.
I have heard a proclamation from Jehovah, And an ambassador hath been sent among the nations, [[Saying, ]] “Assemble yourselves, and come against her, And arise to battle!”
15 Khenah, nang loe Sithaw panoek ai kaminawk salakah kathoeng kae acaeng kami hoi kami mah patoek ih kami ah kang ohsak han.
For, behold, I will make thee small among the nations, Despised among men.
16 Thlung salakah kaom kaminawk hoi maesang ah kaom kaminawk, zit kaom khosakhaih hoi palung thung ih nam oek o haih mah, ang ling o boeh; tahmu baktiah sang parai ah tabu na boh o langlacadoeh, to ahmuen hoiah kang pakhrak o tathuk han, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
Thy terribleness hath deceived thee, The pride of thy heart, Because thou dwellest in the recesses of the rock, And holdest the height of the hill. Though thou set thy nest on high, like the eagle, From thence will I bring thee down, saith Jehovah.
17 Edom loe amrohaih ah om tih; anih taengah caeh kaminawk boih dawnrai o tih; a tongh ih raihaihnawk boih pongah minawk mah kasae thui o tih.
And Edom shall be an astonishment: Every one that passeth by her shall be astonished, And shall hiss on account of all her plagues.
18 Anih loe Sodom hoi Gomorrah, a taeng ih kamro vangpuinawk baktiah oh pongah, to ah kami om mak ai, mi kawbaktih doeh a thungah om mak ai, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, And their neighboring cities, saith Jehovah, There shall not a man abide there, Nor a son of man dwell within her.
19 Khenah, kaipui mah rawkcak pakronghaih ahmuen ah phak hanah, Jordan vapui ih taw thung hoiah angzoh baktih toengah, misa angzoh naah, kaimah Edom to a ohhaih ahmuen hoiah ka cawnsak ving han; Edom nuiah suek han qoih ih kami loe mi aa? Kai baktih mi maw kaom? Mi mah maw kai han atue khaek pae thai tih? Kawbaktih tuutoep kami maw ka hmaa ah angdoe thaih? tiah a thuih.
Behold, he [[the enemy]] cometh up like a lion from the pride of Jordan against the habitation of the rock; Suddenly will I drive him [[Edom]] thence, And him who is chosen by me will I set over her. For who is like me, Or who will summon me to trial? Or who is the shepherd that will stand up against me?
20 To pongah Angraeng mah Edom tuk han atimhaih hoi Teman ah kaom kaminawk tuk han poekhaih to tahngai oh; anih mah thacak ai tuucaa to la pae ving ueloe, nihcae ohhaih ahmuen to amrosak tih.
Therefore, hear ye the purpose of Jehovah, Which he hath formed against Edom, And the designs which he meditateth against the inhabitants of Teman! Surely he [[the enemy]] shall drag them forth like feeble sheep; Surely he shall come upon them, And make their pastures desolate.
21 Nihcae amtimhaih atuen pongah long hae tasoeh tih; nihcae qahhaih lok loe tuipui kathim khoek to amthang tih.
At the noise of their fall the earth trembleth, Even to the Red Sea is their cry heard.
22 Khenah, anih loe angzo tanghang tih, tahmu baktiah azawk ueloe, Bozrah vangpui nuiah pakhraeh payueng tih; to naah Edom kaminawk ih palungthin loe nawkta tapen nathuem ih nongpata poekhaih palungthin baktiah om tih.
Behold, like an eagle, he [[the enemy]] cometh up, And spreadeth his wings over Bozrah; And the hearts of the heroes of Edom, in that day, Shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.
23 Damaska kawng pongah, Harmath hoi Arpad loe tamthang kasae to thaih hoi moe, azathaih tongh hoi boeh; tuipui khoek to palungsethaih to oh pongah, monghaih om thai ai.
Concerning Damascus. Hamath and Arpad are confounded; They faint, because they have heard evil tidings. There is anxiety at the sea; It cannot be at rest.
24 Damaska loe thaboeng sut moe, cawnh ving hanah angqoi boeh; anih loe tasoehhaih hoiah oh; anih loe nongpata caa oh nathuem ih kana panoek baktiah, patanghaih hoi palungsethaih mah naeh.
Damascus is faint-hearted; She turneth herself to flee; Trembling hath seized on her; Anguish and pangs have taken hold of her, as of a woman in travail.
25 Canghnii ah kang hoehaih vangpui hoi pakoehhaih vangpui doeh anghmat mak ai!
“Why is not the praised city left, The city of my joy?”
26 To pongah anih ih thendoengnawk loe angmacae ih loklam ah amtimh o tih, misatuh kaminawk doeh to niah dueh o boih tih, tiah Angraeng Sithaw mah thuih.
Yea, her young men shall fall in her streets, And all her men of war shall be cut off in that day, Saith Jehovah of hosts.
27 Damaska vangpui sipae to hmai hoiah ka thlaek han, to naah Ben-Hadad ohhaih ahmuen to hmai mah kang boih tih, tiah a thuih.
Yea, I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, Which shall consume the palaces of Benhadad.
28 Kedar hoi Babylon siangpahrang Nebuchadnezzar mah naeh ih Hazor siangpahrang ukhaih prae kawng pongah, Angraeng mah hae tiah thuih; Angthawk oh, Kedar ah caeh oh tahang ah loe, ni angzae bang ih kaminawk to hum ah.
Concerning Kedar, and concerning the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, smote. Thus saith Jehovah: Arise ye, go up against Kedar, And spoil the sons of the East!
29 Nihcae ih kahni imnawk, tuunawk, angmacae im pakaahaih kahninawk, laomnawk hoi tahnongsawk hrangnawk boih, angmacae hanah la o boih tih; ahmuen kruekah zithaih to oh! tiah kaminawk mah nihcae to hang o thui tih.
Their tents and their flocks shall they take away; They shall take to themselves their curtains, and all their furniture, and their camels, And men shall cry to them, “Terror is on every side.”
30 Aw Hazor ah kaom kaminawk, Ahmuen kangthla ah cawn oh! Kathuk ahmuen ah om oh, tiah Angraeng mah thuih; Babylon siangpahrang Nebuchadnezzar mah nang hum han pacaenghaih lok to thuih boeh.
Flee, get you far off, dwell in deep places, O ye inhabitants of Hazor, saith Jehovah. For Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, meditates a design against you, And has formed a purpose against you.
31 Angthawk oh, mawnhaih om ai acaeng, khongkha hoi thok takraenghaih om ai, angmabueng khosah kami ohhaih ahmuen ah caeh oh! tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
Arise ye, go up against a nation at ease, That dwelleth securely, saith Jehovah; Which hath neither gates nor bars; Which dwelleth alone.
32 Anih ih tahnongsawk hrangnawk to lomh pae o ueloe, a tawnh o ih tahnongsawk hrangnawk hoi maitawnawk doeh lomh pae o tih; angthla koek taki taket ah kaom kaminawk to takhi ah ka haeh phaeng han; ahmuen kruek hoiah nihcae amrohaih to ka phaksak han, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
And their camels shall be a booty, And the multitude of their cattle a spoil; And I will scatter to all the winds them that shave the cheeks, And from every side will I bring their calamity, saith Jehovah.
33 Hazor prae loe tasuinawk paqaihhaih ahmuen ah angcoeng ueloe, dungzan ah pong rup tih boeh; mi doeh to ahmuen ah om mak ai, a thungah kami mi doeh om mak ai, tiah Angraeng Sithaw mah thuih.
And Hazor shall be a dwelling for jackals, A desolation forever. There shall not a man abide there, Nor any son of man dwell therein.
34 Judah siangpahrang Zedekiah angraeng ah oh tangsuek naah, Elam kawng pongah tahmaa Jeremiah khaeah angzo, Angraeng ih lok loe,
The word of Jehovah which came to Jeremiah the prophet against Elam, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah, king of Judah, saying: —
35 misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng Sithaw mah, Khenah, Elam thacak koekhaih, kalii to ka khaeh pae han, tiah thuih.
Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Behold, I break the bow of Elam, The chief part of their strength.
36 Van ahmuen palito bang hoiah takhi palito Elam nuiah kang zoh haih moe, takhi palitonawk thungah nihcae to ka haeh phaeng han; Elam mah misong ah caeh ai ih prae maeto doeh om mak ai.
And I will bring against Elam The four winds from the four extremities of the heavens, And I will scatter them to all these winds, And there shall be no nation To which the outcasts of Elam shall not come.
37 Elam kaminawk to angmacae misanawk hmaa hoi nihcae hinghaih pakrong kaminawk hmaa ah tasoehhaih ka tongsak moe, kanung parai palung ka phuihaih hoi amrohaih to nihcae nuiah ka phaksak han; nihcae ka hum boih ai karoek to nihcae hnukah sumsen hoiah ka patom han, tiah Angraeng mah thuih:
For I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies, And before them that seek their life. And I will bring evil upon them, The fierceness of my anger, saith Jehovah. And I will send after them the sword, Until I have consumed them.
38 Elam ah kaimah ih angraeng tangkhang to ka pahnut moe, anih ih siangpahrang hoi angraengnawk to ka hum han, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
And I will set up my throne in Elam, And I will destroy from thence king and princes, saith Jehovah.
39 Toe hmabangah loe misong thungah kaom Elam kaminawk to ka hoih let han, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
But it shall come to pass in future times, That I will bring back the captivity of Elam, saith Jehovah.
