< Jeremiah 48 >

1 Misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng, Israel Sithaw mah, Moab misa haih lok to hae tiah thuih; Nebo loe khosak bing! Amro boeh; Kiriathaim loe azat paw moe, naeh ah oh boeh; Misgab doeh azat paw moe, tasoeh boeh.
Of Moab. The LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: “Woe to Nebo! For it is laid waste. Kiriathaim is disappointed. It is taken. Misgab is put to shame and broken down.
2 Moab loe mi mah doeh pakoeh mak ai boeh; anih paduek hanah Heshbon ah kasae pacaenghaih to oh; angzo oh, acaeng maeto ah ohhaih to anghmasak ving si, tiah a thuih o. Aw Madmen vangpui, nang loe sumsen mah patom tih.
The praise of Moab is no more. In Heshbon they have devised evil against her: ‘Come! Let’s cut her off from being a nation.’ You also, Madmen, will be brought to silence. The sword will pursue you.
3 Horonaim ah lomhaih hoi kalen parai amrohaih to oh pongah, qahhaih hoi hanghaih lok to oh.
The sound of a cry from Horonaim, desolation and great destruction!
4 Moab loe amro boeh pongah, anih ih caa nawktanawk loe qah o.
Moab is destroyed. Her little ones have caused a cry to be heard.
5 Luhith bangah a caeh o tahang naah, nihcae loe apet ai qahhaih hoiah ni caeh o tahang; Honoraim bangah caeh o tathuk naah doeh, amrohaih pongah qahhaih lok to misanawk mah thaih o.
For they will go up by the ascent of Luhith with continual weeping. For at the descent of Horonaim they have heard the distress of the cry of destruction.
6 Na hinghaih loih thai hanah cawn ah loe, praezaek ih thing baktiah om ah.
Flee! Save your lives! Be like the juniper bush in the wilderness.
7 Na sak ih hmuen hoi nang raenghaih to nang oep haih pongah, nang doeh na naeh o toeng tih; Khemosh doeh angmah ih qaimanawk, angmah ih angraengnawk hoi nawnto misong ah caeh tih.
For, because you have trusted in your works and in your treasures, you also will be taken. Chemosh will go out into captivity, his priests and his princes together.
8 Angraeng mah thuih ih lok baktih toengah, vangpui boih ah parokung to angzo tih, vangpui maeto doeh loih mak ai; azawn doeh anghmaa ueloe, tangtling doeh amro tih.
The destroyer will come on every city, and no city will escape; the valley also will perish, and the plain will be destroyed, as the LORD has spoken.
9 Azawk ving hanah Moab han pakhraeh to paek ah; to ah kaom vangpuinawk loe angqai krang tih; a thungah kami om mak ai.
Give wings to Moab, that she may fly and get herself away: and her cities will become a desolation, without anyone to dwell in them.
10 Alinghaih hoiah Angraeng ih toksah kami loe kasae tong nasoe loe, athii longsak ai ah sumsen kasuem kami loe kasae tong nasoe!
“Cursed is he who does the work of the LORD negligently; and cursed is he who keeps back his sword from blood.
11 Moab loe thendoeng na hoi boeh ni, kamongah khosak, a ohhaih ahmuen ah oh poe, anih loe misong ah doeh caeh vai ai, anih loe pailang maeto hoi maeto ah pakong vai ai ih misurtui baktiah oh pongah, a khraemhaih anghmaa ai baktih toengah, ahmui doeh amkhrai ai.
“Moab has been at ease from his youth, and he has settled on his dregs, and has not been emptied from vessel to vessel, neither has he gone into captivity; therefore his taste remains in him, and his scent is not changed.
12 To pongah khenah, anih khaeah misurtui pakong kaminawk patoehhaih ni to angzo tih; nihcae mah misurtui to krai pae o ueloe, pailangnawk to pakhoih pae o boih tih, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
Therefore behold, the days come,” says the LORD, “that I will send to him those who pour off, and they will pour him off; and they will empty his vessels, and break their containers in pieces.
13 Israel imthung takoh loe a oep o ih Bethel pongah azat paw o baktih toengah, Moab doeh Khedesh pongah azat paw toeng tih.
Moab will be ashamed of Chemosh, as the house of Israel was ashamed of Bethel, their confidence.
14 Kaicae loe thacak kami, misatuh thaih kami ni, tiah kawbangmaw na thui o thai tih?
“How do you say, ‘We are mighty men, and valiant men for the war’?
15 Moab loe amro boeh moe, vangpuinawk doeh phraek pae o boeh; a qoih ih kranghoih parai thendoengnawk doeh hum hanah caeh o tathuk boeh, tiah misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng, tiah ahmin kaom, Siangpahrang mah thuih.
Moab is laid waste, and they have gone up into his cities, and his chosen young men have gone down to the slaughter,” says the King, whose name is the LORD of Hosts.
16 Moab amrohaih ni loe zoi boeh, anih patangkhanghaih loe karangah angzoh boeh.
“The calamity of Moab is near to come, and his affliction hurries fast.
17 Anih taengah kaom kaminawk boih, anih to qah o haih ah; anih ih ahmin panoek kaminawk boih, Thacak cunghet, kranghoih cung loe kawbangmaw angkhaeh ving halat! tiah thui oh.
All you who are around him, bemoan him; and all you who know his name, say, ‘How the strong staff is broken, the beautiful rod!’
18 Aw Dibon ah kaom canu, na lensawkhaih hoi anghum tathuk ah loe, tui anghaehhaih hoiah anghnu ah; Moab paro kami to nangcae khaeah angzo ueloe, anih mah kacak na buephaih to phrae tih.
“You daughter who dwells in Dibon, come down from your glory, and sit in thirst; for the destroyer of Moab has come up against you. He has destroyed your strongholds.
19 Aroer ah kaom kaminawk, lamtaeng ah angdoe oh loe khen oh; timaw na sak o? tiah kacawn nongpa hoi kaloih nongpata to dueng oh.
Inhabitant of Aroer, stand by the way and watch. Ask him who flees, and her who escapes; say, ‘What has been done?’
20 Moab loe azathaih tong moe, amtim boeh; hang oh loe, qah oh; Moab loe amro boeh, tiah Ammon ah thui oh.
Moab is disappointed; for it is broken down. Wail and cry! Tell it by the Arnon, that Moab is laid waste.
21 Lokcaekhaih loe tangtling prae ah kaom, Holon, Jahazah hoi Mephaath,
Judgement has come on the plain country— on Holon, on Jahzah, on Mephaath,
22 Dibon, Nebo hoi Beth Diblathaim,
on Dibon, on Nebo, on Beth Diblathaim,
23 Kirjathaim, Beth Gamul hoi Beth Meon,
on Kiriathaim, on Beth Gamul, on Beth Meon,
24 Kerioth hoi Bozrah, to tiah kaom hmuen loe kazoi kangthla tih ai, Moab prae thung ih vangpuinawk boih nuiah om tih.
on Kerioth, on Bozrah, and on all the cities of the land of Moab, far or near.
25 Moab ih takii to boeng pae ving boeh, a ban doeh angkhaeh boeh, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
The horn of Moab is cut off, and his arm is broken,” says the LORD.
26 Angraeng hmaa ah angmah hoi angmah amoek pongah, anih to mu paqui o sak ah; Moab loe angmah ih tamlok nuiah amlet ueloe, kami mah pahnui thui tih.
“Make him drunk, for he magnified himself against the LORD. Moab will wallow in his vomit, and he also will be in derision.
27 Israel loe na pahnui o thuih han ih na ai maw oh? Anih to kamqunawk salakah na hnuk o vai maw? Anih kawng thuih kruek pahnui thuih hanah lu na haek thuih.
For wasn’t Israel a derision to you? Was he found amongst thieves? For as often as you speak of him, you shake your head.
28 Moab ah kaom kaminawk, vangpuinawk to caeh o taak ah loe lungsong thungah om oh; thlung khaw taengah tabu bop pahuu baktiah om oh.
You inhabitants of Moab, leave the cities, and dwell in the rock. Be like the dove that makes her nest over the mouth of the abyss.
29 Moab amoekhaih, anih amoek hmoekhaih, anih amkoehhaih, a poeksanghaih, amoekhaih, kasang a poekhaih palungthin to ka thaih o boeh.
“We have heard of the pride of Moab. He is very proud in his loftiness, his pride, his arrogance, and the arrogance of his heart.
30 Anih palungphuihaih doeh ka panoek, toe azom pui ni, a thuih ih amsawnlok loe tiah doeh angcoeng mak ai, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
I know his wrath,” says the LORD, “that it is nothing; his boastings have done nothing.
31 To pongah Moab to ka hangh thuih moe, Moab kaminawk boih ka qah haih han; Kir Hares kaminawk to palung ka set haih han.
Therefore I will wail for Moab. Yes, I will cry out for all Moab. They will mourn for the men of Kir Heres.
32 Aw Sibmah ih misurkung, Jazer ka qah haih pongah loe, nang to kang qah haih han; nang ih tadoknawk loe tuipui khoek to phak o, Jazer tuipui khoek to amzam; parokung mah nipui tue ih na thingthai hoi na misurthaih to ang paro pae boeh.
With more than the weeping of Jazer I will weep for you, vine of Sibmah. Your branches passed over the sea. They reached even to the sea of Jazer. The destroyer has fallen on your summer fruits and on your vintage.
33 Thingthai pop parai kathai lawk, anghoehaih hoi oephaih loe Moab prae hoiah lak ving ah oh boeh; misurthaih pasawhhaih ahmuen hoiah misurtui to ka boengsak boeh; misurthaih to anghoehaih lok hoiah kae o mak ai; anghoehaih lok loe anghoehaih lok ah om mak ai boeh.
Gladness and joy is taken away from the fruitful field and from the land of Moab. I have caused wine to cease from the wine presses. No one will tread with shouting. The shouting will be no shouting.
34 Nihcae qahhaih lok loe Heshbon, Elealeh hoi Jahaz khoek to amthang, nihcae loe saning thumto kaom, maitaw tala baktiah hang o; hanghaih lok loe Zoar, Horonaim khoek to amthang; Nimrim ih tuinawk doeh kang boih tih.
From the cry of Heshbon even to Elealeh, even to Jahaz they have uttered their voice, from Zoar even to Horonaim, to Eglath Shelishiyah; for the waters of Nimrim will also become desolate.
35 Hmuensang ah angbawnhaih sah kami, angmah ih sithawnawk khaeah hmuihoih thlaek kami to Moab prae thungah kam rosak boih han, tiah Angreng mah thuih.
Moreover I will cause to cease in Moab,” says the LORD, “him who offers in the high place, and him who burns incense to his gods.
36 To pongah kami duek naah ueng ih tamoi lok baktiah, Moab to ka qah haih moe, Kir Hares kaminawk han doeh palung thung hoi ka qah haih han; nihcae mah tawnh o ih hmuenmaenawk loe amro boih tih.
Therefore my heart sounds for Moab like flutes, and my heart sounds like flutes for the men of Kir Heres. Therefore the abundance that he has gotten has perished.
37 Lu sam to aat o boih ah loe, pahni mui doeh ataep o boih ah; ban to aat o boih ah loe, kaeng ah kazii to angzaeng oh.
For every head is bald, and every beard clipped. There are cuttings on all the hands, and sackcloth on the waist.
38 Moab loe patoh han kahoih ai laom baktiah ka koihsak boeh pongah, Moab kaminawk ih imphu hoi loklamnawk boih ah qahhaih loknawk to om tih, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
On all the housetops of Moab, and in its streets, there is lamentation everywhere; for I have broken Moab like a vessel in which no one delights,” says the LORD.
39 Nihcae mah Moab loe amro ving boeh moe, azat loiah hnuk angnawn ving boeh, tiah hang o tih; Moab loe kami mah pahnui thuih han ih ni oh boeh, a taengah kaom kaminawk loe zit kaom kami ah ni oh o boeh, tiah a thuih.
“How it is broken down! How they wail! How Moab has turned the back with shame! So will Moab become a derision and a terror to all who are around him.”
40 Angraeng mah, Khenah, tahmu to azawk ueloe, Moab nuiah pakhraeh payangh tih.
For the LORD says: “Behold, he will fly as an eagle, and will spread out his wings against Moab.
41 Kerioth to naeh ueloe, kacak sipae doeh la tih; to na niah Moab misatuh kaminawk ih palungthin loe caa tapen tom nathuem ah nongpata mah tongh ih kana baktiah om tih.
Kerioth is taken, and the strongholds are seized. The heart of the mighty men of Moab at that day will be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.
42 Angraeng khaeah amoek pongah, Moab loe acaeng maeto ah oh han ai ah paro tih.
Moab will be destroyed from being a people, because he has magnified himself against the LORD.
43 Aw Moab kaminawk, zithaih, kathuk tangqom hoi thaang mah nangcae to zing boeh, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
Terror, the pit, and the snare are on you, inhabitant of Moab,” says the LORD.
44 Zit hoiah kacawn kami loe tangqom thungah krah tih; tangqom thung hoi kaloih kami loe thaang pongah aman tih; Moab nuiah thuitaekhaih saning to ka phaksak han, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
“He who flees from the terror will fall into the pit; and he who gets up out of the pit will be taken in the snare, for I will bring on him, even on Moab, the year of their visitation,” says the LORD.
45 Misa zit pongah Heshbon tlim ah kacawn kami loe, bomkung om ai ah angdoe sut tih; to naah Heshbon hoiah hmai to tacawt tih; Sihon a um hoiah hmaipalai to angthawk ueloe, Moab ih lupataeh hoi amoek kaminawk ih luhuhnawk to kangh tih.
“Those who fled stand without strength under the shadow of Heshbon; for a fire has gone out of Heshbon, and a flame from the middle of Sihon, and has devoured the corner of Moab, and the crown of the head of the tumultuous ones.
46 Aw Moab! Khosak na bing! Khemosh ih kaminawk loe anghmaa o boih tih; na capanawk hoi na canunawk to misong ah caeh o haih boih boeh.
Woe to you, O Moab! The people of Chemosh are undone; for your sons are taken away captive, and your daughters into captivity.
47 Toe hnukkhuem niah loe Moab to misong angtanghaih thung hoiah ka hoih let han, tiah Angraeng mah thuih. Moab nuiah lokcaekhaih loe hae ah boeng boeh.
“Yet I will reverse the captivity of Moab in the latter days,” says the LORD. Thus far is the judgement of Moab.
