Jeremiah the prophet and said, “May our petition come before you; pray to the LORD your God on behalf of this entire remnant. For few of us remain of the many, as you can see with your own eyes.
3 to tiah nahaeloe Angraeng na Sithaw mah, ka caeh o han ih loklam to na patuek ueloe, timaw ka sak o han, tito na hnusak tih, tiah a naa o.
Pray that the LORD your God will tell us the way we should walk and the thing we should do.”
4 Tahmaa Jeremiah mah nihcae khaeah, Lok kang thaih pae boeh; tahmenhaih nang hnik o haih lok baktih toengah, na Angraeng Sithaw khaeah lawk ka thuih han hmang; Angraeng mah ang pathim o ih loknawk boih, maeto doeh tahmaih ai ah, kang thuih o han, tiah a naa.
“I have heard you,” replied Jeremiah the prophet. “I will surely pray to the LORD your God as you request, and I will tell you everything that the LORD answers; I will not withhold a word from you.”
5 To naah nihcae mah Jeremiah khaeah, Na Angraeng Sithaw mah kaicae khaeah thuih han ang patoeh ih baktih toengah, hmuen boih ka sah o ai nahaeloe, Angraeng loe kaicae salakah oep kaom hnukung tangtang ah om tih.
Then they said to Jeremiah, “May the LORD be a true and faithful witness against us if we do not act upon every word that the LORD your God sends you to tell us.
6 Kahoih hmuen maw, to tih ai boeh loe kahoih ai hmuen maw om langlacadoeh, anih khaeah kang patoeh o baktih toengah, kaicae Angraeng Sithaw ih lok to ka tahngaih o han; kaicae Angraeng Sithaw ih lok to ka tahngaih o naah ni, khosak ka hoih o tih, tiah a naa o.
Whether it is pleasant or unpleasant, we will obey the voice of the LORD our God to whom we are sending you, so that it may go well with us, for we will obey the voice of the LORD our God!”
7 Ni hato oh pacoengah, Angraeng ih lok to Jeremiah khaeah angzoh.
After ten days the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah,
8 To pongah anih mah Kariah capa Johanan, anih khae kaom misatuh angraengnawk boih, kathoeng koek hoi kalen koek khoek to nawnto a kawk cuu,
and he summoned Johanan son of Kareah, all the commanders of the forces who were with him, and all the people from the least to the greatest.
9 nihcae khaeah, Tahmen hnikhaih lawkthuih pae hanah, nang patoeh o ih Angraeng, Israel Sithaw mah, hae tiah thuih:
Jeremiah told them, “Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, to whom you sent me to present your petition:
10 hae prae ah na oh o nahaeloe, kam timsak mak ai, kang pathawk o let han; kang thling o han, kang phongh o mak ai; nangcae nuiah ka sak ih raihaih pongah ka dawnpakhuem boeh.
‘If you will indeed stay in this land, then I will build you up and not tear you down; I will plant you and not uproot you, for I will relent of the disaster I have brought upon you.
11 Vaihi na zit o ih Babylon siangpahrang to zii o hmah, anih to zii o hmah; anih ih ban thung hoiah kang pahlong o moe, kang loih o sak han, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
Do not be afraid of the king of Babylon, whom you now fear; do not be afraid of him, declares the LORD, for I am with you to save you and deliver you from him.
12 Anih mah, Nangcae nuiah palungnathaih kam tuengsak han, nangmacae prae ah amlaem let hanah, anih mah nangcae nuiah palungnathaih to tawn tih, tiah a naa.
And I will show you compassion, and he will have compassion on you and restore you to your own land.’
13 Toe nangcae mah, Hae prae ah ka om o mak ai, nangmacae Angraeng Sithaw ih lok doeh, ka tahngai o mak ai, tiah na thuih o,
But if you say, ‘We will not stay in this land,’ and you thus disobey the voice of the LORD your God,
14 misatukhaih kaom ai, mongkah tuen doeh angthaih ai, zok amthlamhaih kaom ai, Izip prae ah ka caeh o moe, to ah kho ka sak o han, tiah na thuih o;
and if you say, ‘No, but we will go to the land of Egypt and live there, where we will not see war or hear the sound of the ram’s horn or hunger for bread,’
15 to pongah aw kanghmat Judah kaminawk, Angraeng ih lok hae tahngai oh; Izip prae ah caeh han palung na tawnh o nahaeloe, to ah khosak hanah caeh oh:
then hear the word of the LORD, O remnant of Judah! This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘If you are determined to go to Egypt and reside there,
16 na zit o ih sumsen mah Izip prae ah na kae o tih, na zit o ih khokhahaih mah Izip prae khoek to na patom o ueloe, to ah na dueh o tih.
then the sword you fear will overtake you there, and the famine you dread will follow on your heels into Egypt, and you will die there.
17 Izip prae ah caeh moe, to ah khosak hanah mikhmai angqoi kaminawk loe sumsen, khokhahaih, kasae nathaih hoiah dueh o boih tih; mi kawbaktih doeh nangcae nuiah ka phaksak han ih amrohaih hoiah loih o mak ai, anghmat doeh anghmat o mak ai, tiah misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng, Israel Sithaw mah thuih.
So all who resolve to go to Egypt to reside there will die by sword and famine and plague. Not one of them will survive or escape the disaster I will bring upon them.’
18 Misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng, Israel Sithaw mah, Jerusalem ah kaom kaminawk nuiah, palungphuihaih, kanung parai palungphuihaih to ka kraih thuih baktih toengah, Izip prae na kun o naah, nangcae nuiah ka kraih han; nangcae loe angzoehhaih, dawnraihaih, tangoenghaih hoi kasaethuih ih kami ah na om o tih; hae ahmuen hae na hnu o let mak ai boeh, tiah thuih.
For this is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘Just as My anger and wrath were poured out on the residents of Jerusalem, so will My wrath be poured out on you if you go to Egypt. You will become an object of cursing and horror, of vilification and disgrace, and you will never see this place again.’
19 Aw anghmat Judah kaminawk, nangcae kawng pongah Angraeng mah, Izip prae ah caeh o hmah; vaihni ah acoehaih lok kang thuih o boeh, tito panoek oh, tiah thuih.
The LORD has told you, O remnant of Judah, ‘Do not go to Egypt.’ Know for sure that I have warned you today!
20 Kaicae han, aicae Angraeng Sithaw khaeah lawkthui pae ah, aicae Angraeng Sithaw mah thuih ih loknawk to kaicae khae na thui boih ah, anih ih lok to ka tahngaih pae o han, tiah nangmacae Angraeng Sithaw khaeah nang patoeh o, toe poekhaih palungthin nam khraeng o ving boeh.
For you have deceived yourselves by sending me to the LORD your God, saying, ‘Pray to the LORD our God on our behalf, and as for all that the LORD our God says, tell it to us and we will do it.’
21 Vaihni ah lok kang thuih o boeh, kai ang patoeh moe, ang thuih o ih na Angraeng Sithaw ih loknawk doeh na tahngai o ai.
For I have told you today, but you have not obeyed the voice of the LORD your God in all He has sent me to tell you.
22 To pongah vaihi na caeh o baktih toengah, khosak han na koeh o haih ahmuen ah sumsen, khokhahaih, kasae nathaih hoiah na dueh o tangtang tih boeh, tiah panoek oh, tiah a naa.
Now therefore, know for sure that by sword and famine and plague you will die in the place where you desire to go to reside.”
