1 Babylon siangpahrang Nebuchadnezzar loe Jehoiakim capa Jekoniah zuengah Josiah capa Zedekiah to Judah siangpahrang ah suek moe, prae to uksak.
And reign doth king Zedekiah son of Josiah instead of Coniah son of Jehoiakim whom Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon had caused to reign in the land of Judah,
2 Toe angmah hoi a tamnanawk, prae thungah kaom kaminawk loe tahmaa Jeremiah patohhaih rang hoiah thuih ih Angraeng ih lok to tahngai o ai.
and he hath not hearkened, he, and his servants, and the people of the land, unto the words of Jehovah, that He spake by the hand of Jeremiah the prophet.
3 Zedekiah siangpahrang mah, Shelemiah capa Jehukal hoi Maaseiah capa qaima Zephaniah to tahmaa Jeremiah khaeah patoeh; tahmenhaih hoiah aicae Angraeng Sithaw khaeah kaicae han vaihi lawk na thui paeh, tiah a naa o.
And Zedekiah the king sendeth Jehucal son of Shelemiah, and Zephaniah son of Maaseiah the priest, unto Jeremiah the prophet, saying, 'Pray, we beseech thee, for us unto Jehovah our God.'
4 To naah Jeremiah loe thongim krah ai vop pongah, kaminawk salakah angzoh thaih moe, a caeh thai vop.
And Jeremiah is coming in and going out in the midst of the people, (and they have not put him in the prison-house),
5 To pacoengah Faro ih misatuh kaminawk loe Izip prae hoiah angzoh o; Jerusalem takui Khaldian kaminawk mah to tamthang to thaih o naah, Jerusalem to caeh o taak.
and the force of Pharaoh hath come out of Egypt, and the Chaldeans, who are laying siege against Jerusalem, hear their report, and go up from off Jerusalem.
6 To naah tahmaa Jeremiah khaeah Angraeng ih lok to angzoh,
And there is a word of Jehovah unto Jeremiah the prophet, saying:
7 Israel Sithaw, Angraeng mah, Kai khaeah lokdueng han patoehkung, Judah siangpahrang khaeah, khenah, nang abomh han angzo Faro ih misatuh kaminawk loe angmacae prae Izip ah amlaem o let tih, tiah thuih paeh, tiah ang naa.
'Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, Thus do ye say unto the king of Judah, who is sending you unto Me, to seek Me: Lo, the force of Pharaoh that is coming out to you for help hath turned back to its land, to Egypt,
8 Khaldian kaminawk to angzo o let ueloe, hae vangpui phraek hanah tuh o tih, vangpui to la o ueloe, hmai hoiah thlaek o tih, tiah a thuih.
and the Chaldeans have turned back, and fought against this city, and captured it, and burnt it with fire.
9 Angraeng mah, Khaldian kaminawk mah ang caeh o taak boeh, tiah nangmacae hoi nangmacae to angling o hmah; nihcae mah na caeh o taak mak ai.
'Thus said Jehovah: Lift not up your souls saying, The Chaldeans surely go from off us, for they do not go;
10 Nangcae katuh Khaldian kaminawk to na pazawk o boih langlacadoeh, nihcae salakah kaom anghmat ahmaa caa kaminawk boih, angmacae ohhaih kahni imthung hoiah angthawk o ueloe, hae vangpui hae hmai hoiah thlaek o thai vop tih, tiah a naa.
for though ye had smitten all the force of the Chaldeans who are fighting with you, and there were left of them wounded men — each in his tent — they rise, and have burnt this city with fire.'
11 Khaldian misatuh kaminawk loe Faro misatuh kaminawk ih tamthang to thaih o pongah, zit o moe, Jerusalem hoi hnuk amlaem o let naah,
And it hath come to pass, in the going up of the force of the Chaldeans from off Jerusalem, because of the force of Pharaoh,
12 Jeremiah loe angmah ih kaminawk salakah a toep han koi thoemto hmuennawk to lak hanah, Jerusalem to tacawt taak moe, Benjamin prae ah a caeh.
that Jeremiah goeth out from Jerusalem to go [to] the land of Benjamin, to receive a portion thence in the midst of the people.
13 Toe Benjamin khongkha ah a phak naah, khongkha toepkung angraeng, Hananiah capa Shelemiah, anih ih capa Irijah mah, Jeremiah, nang loe Khaldian kaminawk khaeah na cawnh pongah, kang naeh, tiah a naa.
And it cometh to pass, he is at the gate of Benjamin, and there [is] a master of the ward — and his name is Irijah son of Shelemiah, son of Hananiah — and he catcheth Jeremiah the prophet, saying, 'Unto the Chaldeans thou art falling.'
14 Jeremiah mah, To tih na ai ni, Khaldian kaminawk khaeah ka cawn ai, tiah a naa. Toe Irijah mah tahngai pae ai; to pongah Jeremiah to naeh moe, toksah ukkung angraengnawk khaeah a hoih.
And Jeremiah saith, 'Falsehood — I am not falling unto the Chaldeans;' and he hath not hearkened unto him, and Irijah layeth hold on Jeremiah, and bringeth him in unto the heads,
15 Toksah angraengnawk loe Jeremiah nuiah palungphui o pongah, a boh o pacoengah ca tarikkung Jonathan ohhaih im ah paung o.
and the heads are wroth against Jeremiah, and have smitten him, and put him in the prison-house — the house of Jonathan the scribe, for it they had made for a prison-house.
16 Jeremiah to long thung ih thongim ah pakhrak o, Jeremiah loe ni pop parai thung to ah oh.
When Jeremiah hath entered into the house of the dungeon, and unto the cells, then Jeremiah dwelleth there many days,
17 To pacoengah Zedekiah siangpahrang mah kami to patoeh moe, anih to loisak; siangpahrang mah, Angraeng khae ih lok oh maw? tiah angmah im ah tamquta hoiah lok a duengh, to naah Jeremiah mah, Ue, Angraeng khae ih lok loe hae tiah oh, nang loe Babylon siangpahrang ban ah paek tih boeh, tiah a naa.
and the king Zedekiah sendeth, and taketh him, and the king asketh him in his house in secret, and saith, 'Is there a word from Jehovah?' And Jeremiah saith, 'There is,' and he saith, 'Into the hand of the king of Babylon thou art given.'
18 To pacoengah Jeremiah mah Zedekiah siangpahrang khaeah, Nang hoi na tamnanawk, hae kaminawk nuiah tih zaehaih maw ka sak moe, thongim thungah nang pakhrak?
And Jeremiah saith unto the king Zedekiah, 'What have I sinned against thee, and against thy servants, and against this people, that ye have given me unto a prison-house?
19 Babylon siangpahrang mah na tuh mak ai, hae prae doeh tuh tang mak ai, tiah nang khaeah, lok kathui nangmah ih tahmaamawk loe vaihi naa ah maw caeh o boih loe?
And where [are] your prophets who prophesied to you, saying, The king of Babylon doth not come in against you, and against this land?
20 To pongah Aw ka angraeng siangpahrang, vaihi tahngai ah, tahmenhaih kang hnik; na hmaa ah tahmen kang hnikhaih lok hae, na talawk pae ah; kai hae ca tarik kami Jonathan im ah amlaemsak hmah, to tih ai nahaeloe to ahmuen ah ka dueh moeng tih, tiah a naa.
And now, hearken, I pray thee, my lord, O king, let my supplication fall, I pray thee, before thee, and cause me not to return [to] the house of Jonathan the scribe, that I die not there.'
21 To naah Zedekiah siangpahrang mah, Jeremiah to thongim thungah pakhrak moe, vangpui thung ih takaw boeng ai karoek to, takaw zawhhaih ahmuen hoiah ni thokkruek takaw kae maeto paek hanah lok a paek; to tiah Jeremiah loe thongim thungah oh.
And the king Zedekiah commandeth, and they commit Jeremiah into the court of the prison, also to give to him a cake of bread daily from the bakers' street, till the consumption of all the bread of the city, and Jeremiah dwelleth in the court of the prison.
