< Jeremiah 36 >

1 Judah siangpahrang Josiah capa Jehoiakim angraenghaih saning palito naah, Jeremiah khaeah Angraeng ih lok hae tiah angzoh,
Now it came about in the fourth year of Jehoiakim, the son of Josiah, king of Judah, that this word came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying,
2 caqam tangoeng to la ah loe, Josiah angraenghaih saning ah lok kang thuih ni hoi kamtong vaihni ni khoek to Israel prae, Judah prae hoi prae kaminawk boih khaeah ka thuih ih misa ah ohhaih loknawk to tarik boih ah.
Take a book and put down in it all the words I have said to you against Israel and against Judah and against all the nations, from the day when my word came to you in the days of Josiah till this day.
3 Nihcae nuiah ka phaksak han, tiah ka thuih ih amrohaih lok to Judah imthung takoh mah thaih naah, a sak o pazae ih hmuenawk to ka tahmen pae thai hanah, a caeh o ih kahoih ai loklam hoiah amlaem o khoe doeh om tih, tiah thuih.
It may be that the people of Judah, hearing of all the evil which it is my purpose to do to them, will be turned, every man from his evil ways; so that they may have my forgiveness for their evil-doing and their sin.
4 To pongah Jeremiah mah, Neriah capa Baruk to kawk moe, Angraeng khae hoi angzo Jeremiah mah thuih ih loknawk boih to, Baruk mah caqam tangoeng pongah tarik pae.
Then Jeremiah sent for Baruch, the son of Neriah; and Baruch took down from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the Lord which he had said to him, writing them in a book.
5 To pacoengah Jeremiah mah, Baruk khaeah, Toksah kaminawk mah kai ang pakaa o khoep pongah, Angraeng im thungah ka caeh thai mak ai:
And Jeremiah gave orders to Baruch, saying, I am shut up, and am not able to go into the house of the Lord:
6 to pongah buhzahhaih niah, Angraeng im ah caeh ah loe Angraeng khae hoi kangzo, caqam tangoeng pongah na tarik ih ka thuih ih loknawk to kaminawk khaeah kroek paeh; angmacae vangpui hoi angzo Judah kaminawk boih khaeah doeh kroek paeh.
So you are to go, reading there from the book, which you have taken down from my mouth, the words of the Lord, in the hearing of the people in the Lord's house, on a day when they go without food, and in the hearing of all the men of Judah who have come out from their towns.
7 To tih nahaeloe nihcae mah a caeh o haih kahoih ai loklam hoiah amlaem o ueloe, Angraeng khaeah lawkthuih hoiah tahmenhaih hni o khoe doeh om tih; Angraeng palungphuihaih, kanung parai palungphuihaih hoi thuih ih hae kaminawk misa haih lok loe len parai, tiah a naa.
It may be that their prayer for grace will go up to the Lord, and that every man will be turned from his evil ways: for great is the wrath and the passion made clear by the Lord against this people.
8 Tahmaa Jeremiah mah thuih ih loknawk boih, Neriah capa Baruk mah sak pae, Angraeng im thungah cabu thung ih Angraeng ih loknawk to a kroek pae.
And Baruch, the son of Neriah, did as Jeremiah the prophet gave him orders to do, reading from the book the words of the Lord in the Lord's house.
9 Judah siangpahrang Josiah capa Jehoiakim angraenghaih saning pangato haih, khrah takawtto naah, Jerusalem ih kaminawk boih, Judah vangpui taeng hoi Jerusalem ah angzo kaminawk boih khaeah, Angraeng hmaa ah buhzahhaih atue to taphong o.
Now it came about in the fifth year of Jehoiakim, the son of Josiah, king of Judah, in the ninth month, that it was given out publicly that all the people in Jerusalem, and all the people who came from the towns of Judah to Jerusalem, were to keep from food before the Lord.
10 To naah Baruk mah, ca tarik kami Shaphan capa Gemariah ohhaih imkhaan, ranui bang ih longhma, Angraeng imthung khongkha kangtha akunhaih ahmuen ah, cabu thungah kaom Jeremiah mah thuih ih loknawk to Angraeng im ah angzo kaminawk boih khaeah kroek pae.
Then Baruch gave a public reading of the words of Jeremiah from the book, in the house of the Lord, in the room of Gemariah, the son of Shaphan the scribe, in the higher square, as one goes in by the new doorway of the Lord's house, in the hearing of all the people.
11 Cabu thung kaom Angraeng ih loknawk boih Shaphan capa Gemariah, Gemariah capa Mikaiah mah thaih naah,
And Micaiah, the son of Gemariah, the son of Shaphan, after hearing all the words of the Lord from the book,
12 siangpahrang im thung ih ca tarik kami imkhaan ah caeh tathuk; khenah, toksah kaminawk boih, ca tarik kami Elishama, Shemiah capa Delailah, Akbor capa Elnathan, Shaphan capa Gemariah, Hananiah capa Zedekiah hoi ukkung angraengnawk boih to ahmuen ah anghnut o.
Went down to the king's house, to the scribe's room: and all the rulers were seated there, Elishama the scribe and Delaiah, the son of Shemaiah, and Elnathan, the son of Achbor, and Gemariah, the son of Shaphan, and Zedekiah, the son of Hananiah, and all the rulers.
13 Baruk mah kaminawk hanah cabu to kroek pae naah, Mikaiah mah a thaih ih loknawk boih to nihcae khaeah thuih pae.
Then Micaiah gave them an account of all the words which had come to his ears when Baruch was reading the book to the people.
14 To pacoengah toksah angraengnawk boih mah, Kushi capa Shelemiah, anih ih capa Nethaniah, anih ih capa Jehudi to Baruk khaeah patoeh moe, Kaminawk khaeah na kroek pae ih caqam tangoeng to sinh moe, nihcae khaeah caeh hanah a thuisak. To pongah Neriah capa Baruk loe caqam tangoeng to ban ah sinh moe, nihcae khaeah caeh.
So all the rulers sent Jehudi, the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, to Baruch, saying, Take in your hand the book from which you have been reading to the people and come. So Baruch, the son of Neriah, took the book in his hand and came down to them.
15 Toksah angraengnawk mah Baruk khaeah, Anghnu ah loe, kaicae han na kroek paeh, tiah a naa o. To pongah Baruk mah nihcae khaeah kroek pae.
Then they said to him, Be seated now, and give us a reading from it. So Baruch did so, reading it to them.
16 To loknawk boih a thaih o naah, maeto hoi maeto zithaih palungthin tawnh o moe, Baruk khaeah hae loknawk hae siangpahrang khaeah ka thuih pae o boih han, tiah a naa o.
Now it came about that, after hearing all the words, they said to one another in fear, We will certainly give the king an account of all these words.
17 Nihcae mah Baruk khaeah, Hae loknawk boih tarik hanah mi mah maw ang thuih? Thui ah, tiah a naa o.
And questioning Baruch, they said, Say now, how did you put all these words down in writing from his mouth?
18 Baruk mah, Jeremiah mah hae loknawk boih hae ang thuih, kaimah catui hoi cabu thungah ka tarik, tiah a naa.
Then Baruch, answering, said, He said all these things to me by word of mouth, and I put them down with ink in the book.
19 To naah toksah angraengnawk mah Baruk khaeah, Jeremiah hoi caeh hoih loe anghawk hoi ah; naa ah maw na oh hoi, tito mi mah doeh panoek hmah nasoe, tiah a naa o.
Then the rulers said to Baruch, Go and put yourself in a safe place, you and Jeremiah, and let no man have knowledge of where you are.
20 Caqam tangoeng to ca tarikkung Elishama imkhaan thungah suek o pacoengah, imthung longhma ah siangpahrang khaeah caeh o moe, lok a thuih pae o boih.
Then they went into the open square to the king; but the book they put away in the room of Elishama the scribe; and they gave the king an account of all the words.
21 To caqam tangoeng to lak hanah, siangpahrang mah Jehudi to patoeh; anih mah ca tarikkung Elishama imthung hoiah caqam tangoeng to lak. Jehudi mah siangpahrang hoi a taengah angdoe toksah angraengnawk boih hmaa ah kroek pae.
So the king sent Jehudi to get the book, and he took it from the room of Elishama the scribe. And Jehudi gave a reading of it in the hearing of the king and all the rulers who were by the king's side.
22 Hae hmuen loe khrah takawtto naah oh, siangpahrang loe siktue naah a ohhaih im ah anghnut; a hmaa ah hmaitikhaih long laom to suek moe, hmai angawt.
Now the king was seated in the winter house, and a fire was burning in the fireplace in front of him.
23 Jehudi mah caphaek thumto maw, palito maw kroek pacoeng kruek, caqam to haita hoiah aah moe, hmai laom thungah a vah; to tiah caqam tangoeng to hmai mah kang boih.
And it came about that whenever Jehudi, in his reading, had got through three or four divisions, the king, cutting them with his penknife, put them into the fire, till all the book was burned up in the fire which was burning in the fireplace.
24 Hae lok kathaih siangpahrang hoi anih ih tamnanawk thung ih kami mi kawbaktih mah doeh to lok to zii o ai; angmacae ih khukbuen doeh asik o ai.
But they had no fear and gave no signs of grief, not the king or any of his servants, after hearing all these words.
25 Elnathan, Delailah hoi Gemariah cae mah caqam tangoeng hmai thlaek han ai ah siangpahrang khaeah hnik o; toe nihcae ih lok to tahngai pae ai.
And Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had made a strong request to the king not to let the book be burned, but he would not give ear to them.
26 Siangpahrang mah, ca tarikkung Baruk hoi Jeremiah to naeh hanah siangpahrang capa Jerameel, Azriel capa Seraiah hoi Abdeel capa Shelemaiah to patoeh; toe Angraeng mah nihnik to hawk ving.
And the king gave orders to Jerahmeel, the king's son, and Seraiah, the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah, the son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet: but the Lord kept them safe.
27 Jeremiah mah thuih ih loknawk baktih toengah Baruk mah tarik ih caqam tangoeng to siangpahrang mah hmai thlaek pacoengah, Angraeng ih lok Jeremiah khaeah angzoh,
Then after the book, in which Baruch had put down the words of Jeremiah, had been burned by the king, the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying,
28 kalah caqam to la ah loe, Judah siangpahrang Jehoiakim mah hmai hoi thaek ih kangquem caqam pong ih loknawk to tarik let ah.
Take another book and put down in it all the words which were in the first book, which Jehoiakim, king of Judah, put into the fire.
29 Judah siangpahrang Jehoiakim khaeah, Angraeng mah, tipongah Babylon siangpahrang to angzo ueloe, hae prae hae phrae tih, hae ah kaom kami hoi moinawk to paduek boih tih, tiah na thuih moe, caqam tangoeng to hmai hoiah nathlaek loe? tiah thuih, tiah thui paeh, tiah ang naa.
And about Jehoiakim, king of Judah, you are to say, This is what the Lord has said: You have put this book into the fire, saying, Why have you put in it that the king of Babylon will certainly come, causing the destruction of this land and putting an end to every man and beast in it?
30 To pongah Judah siangpahrang Jehoiakim kawng pongah Angraeng mah, Anih ih acaeng loe mi doeh David ih angraeng tangkhang pongah anghnu mak ai; anih ih qok loe khodai naah ni kana thungah va o ueloe, khoving naah dantui thungah va o sut tih.
For this reason the Lord has said of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, He will have no son to take his place on the seat of David: his dead body will be put out to undergo the heat of the day and the cold of the night.
31 Angmah hoi a caanawk, a im ah kaom kaminawk boih, angmacae sakpazaehaih pongah ka thuitaek han; nihcae loe lok tahngai o ai pongah, nihcae nuiah phaksak han ka thuih ih raihaihnawk to Jerusalem ah kaom kaminawk hoi Judah kaminawk boih nuiah ka phaksak boih han, tiah thuih, tiah a naa.
And I will send punishment on him and on his seed and on his servants for their evil-doing; I will send on them and on the people of Jerusalem and the men of Judah, all the evil which I said against them, but they did not give ear.
32 To pongah Jeremiah mah caqam kalah to lak moe, ca tarikkung Neriah capa Baruk khaeah paek; Judah siangpahrang Jehoiakim mah hmai hoi thlaek ih caqam tangoeng thung ih loknawk boih to Jeremiah mah thuih moe, Baruk mah tarik let; to lok hoi anghmong kalah pop parai loknawk doeh tarik hoi thap.
Then Jeremiah took another book, and gave it to Baruch the scribe, the son of Neriah, who put down in it, from the mouth of Jeremiah, all the words of the book which had been burned in the fire by Jehoiakim, king of Judah: and in addition a number of other words of the same sort.
