< Jeremiah 31 >
1 To naah loe Israel imthung takoh boih ih Sithaw ah ka oh han, nihcae loe kai ih kami ah om o tih, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
“At that time,” declares the LORD, “I will be the God of all the families of Israel, and they will be My people.”
2 Angraeng mah, sumsen hoi loih anghmat kaminawk loe praezaek ah tahmenhaih hnu o ueloe, Israel doeh anghakhaih ka paek han boeh, tiah thuih.
This is what the LORD says: “The people who survived the sword found favor in the wilderness when Israel went to find rest.”
3 Canghnii ah aicae khae amtueng Sithaw mah, Ue, nang loe dungzan amlunghaih hoiah kang palung; to pongah tahmenhaih hoiah kang khetzawn.
The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have drawn you with loving devotion.
4 Aw tangla cuem, Israel, nang hae kang sak let han, nang loe sak let ah om tih; satuem to na la ueloe, anghoe kaminawk hoi hnawh hanah na caeh tih.
Again I will build you, and you will be rebuilt, O Virgin Israel. Again you will take up your tambourines and go out in joyful dancing.
5 Samaria maenawk nuiah misurkung to na thling tih; takha sah kaminawk mah thling o ueloe, athainawk to caa o tih.
Again you will plant vineyards on the hills of Samaria; the farmers will plant and enjoy the fruit.
6 Ephraim mae nuiah misatoep kaminawk mah, Angthawk oh, Zion ah, aicae Angraeng Sithaw khaeah caeh o tahang si, tiah hanghaih ni to om tih.
For there will be a day when watchmen will call out on the hills of Ephraim, ‘Arise, let us go up to Zion, to the LORD our God!’”
7 Angraeng mah hae tiah thuih; Jakob hanah anghoehaih laa to sah oh, kalen koek acaengnawk salakah hang oh; Aw Angraeng, nangmah ih kami, kanghmat Israel caanawk loe pahlong boeh, tiah saphaw oh loe, tamthang to thui oh.
For this is what the LORD says: “Sing with joy for Jacob; shout for the foremost of the nations! Make your praises heard, and say, ‘O LORD, save Your people, the remnant of Israel!’
8 Khenah, nihcae to aluek bang prae hoiah kang hoih moe, long boenghaih hoiah kang pakhueng han; nihcae hoi nawnto pop parai kaminawk, mikmaeng, khokkhaem, zokpom nongpata hoi nawkta tapen tom nongpatanawk to amlaem o let tih.
Behold, I will bring them from the land of the north and gather them from the farthest parts of the earth, including the blind and the lame, expectant mothers and women in labor. They will return as a great assembly!
9 Nihcae loe qahhaih, lawkthuihaih hoiah angzo o tih; nihcae amthaek han ai ah, vapui taeng ih katoeng loklam ah ka hoih han; kai loe Israel ih ampa ah ka oh, Ephraim loe ka calu ah oh.
They will come with weeping, and by their supplication I will lead them; I will make them walk beside streams of waters, on a level path where they will not stumble. For I am Israel’s Father, and Ephraim is My firstborn.”
10 Aw prae kaminawk boih, Angraeng ih lok hae tahngai oh, Israel haekkung mah anih to pakhueng let tih, tuutoep kami mah a tuunawk to toep baktih toengah, anih to toep tih, tiah tuipui thungah kaom praenawk khae khoek to thui oh.
Hear, O nations, the word of the LORD, and proclaim it in distant coastlands: “The One who scattered Israel will gather them and keep them as a shepherd keeps his flock.
11 Angraeng mah Jakob to pahlong moe, nihcae pongah thacak kue kami ih ban thung hoiah nihcae to akrang let.
For the LORD has ransomed Jacob and redeemed him from the hand that had overpowered him.
12 To pongah nihcae angzo o ueloe, Zion maesang ah laa to sah o tih; Angraeng hoihaih rang hoiah cang, misurthaih, situi, tuucaanawk hoi maitaw caanawk to hnu o tih; nihcae hinghaih loe tui bawh ih takha baktiah om o ueloe, natuek naah doeh palungsae o let mak ai boeh.
They will come and shout for joy on the heights of Zion; they will be radiant over the bounty of the LORD— the grain, new wine, and oil, and the young of the flocks and herds. Their life will be like a well-watered garden, and never again will they languish.
13 To naah tangla cuem loe anghoe hoi hnawh ueloe, thendoengnawk hoi mitongnawk doeh nawnto hnawh o tih; nihcae qahhaih to anghoehaih ah ka paqoi pae han, nihcae to ka pathloep moe, palungsethaih to anghoehaih ah ka sak han.
Then the maidens will rejoice with dancing, young men and old as well. I will turn their mourning into joy, and give them comfort and joy for their sorrow.
14 Qaimanawk to zok kam hahsak han; kaimah ih kaminawk doeh ka hoihhaih hoiah koi o tih boeh, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
I will fill the souls of the priests abundantly, and will fill My people with My goodness,”
15 Angraeng mah, qahhaih lok hoi oihaih lok loe Ramah hoiah angthaih; a caanawk om ai pongah, Rachel mah a caanawk to qah haih, pathloep thai ai boeh, tiah thuih.
This is what the LORD says: “A voice is heard in Ramah, mourning and great weeping, Rachel weeping for her children, and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more.”
16 Angraeng mah hae tiah thuih; Na qahhaih lok to angsum ah loe, na mikkhraetui to phuisak lai ah; na toksakhaih atho na hnu tih boeh hmang, tiah Angraeng mah thuih; nihcae loe misa ohhaih prae thung hoiah amlaem o let tih.
This is what the LORD says: “Keep your voice from weeping and your eyes from tears, for the reward for your work will come, declares the LORD. Then your children will return from the land of the enemy.
17 To pongah boenghaih ah nang han oephaih oh, tiah Angraeng mah thuih; na caanawk loe angmacae prae ah amlaem o let tih.
So there is hope for your future, declares the LORD, and your children will return to their own land.
18 Ephraim mah, kai hae nang thuitaek boeh, qui hoi pathlet thai ai ih maitaw kasan baktiah nang thuitaek boeh; na pathawk let ah, to tiah nahaeloe kam laem let han; nang loe ka Angraeng Sithaw ah na oh, tiah hang ih lok to ka thaih het boeh.
I have surely heard Ephraim’s moaning: ‘You disciplined me severely, like an untrained calf. Restore me, that I may return, for You are the LORD my God.
19 Kam laem pacoengah ka dawnpakhuem boeh; ang thuitaek pacoengah, kaimah ih phaih to ka tumh; thendoeng ah ka oh nathuem ih ahmin sethaih to ka phawh pongah, azathaih hoiah ka oh, ue, anghmanghaih hoiah ka oh.
After I returned, I repented; and after I was instructed, I struck my thigh in grief. I was ashamed and humiliated because I bore the disgrace of my youth.’
20 Ephraim loe ka palung ih ka capa na ai maw? Anih loe koeh koi kaom nawkta ah na ai maw oh? Anih misa haih lok to ka thuih, toe anih to vaihi khoek to ka pahnet ai vop; to pongah anih to ka poek khing, a nuiah tahmenhaih ka suek tangtang han, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
Is not Ephraim a precious son to Me, a delightful child? Though I often speak against him, I still remember him. Therefore My heart yearns for him; I have great compassion for him,”
21 Lam angmathaih to sah oh loe, loklam ah amtuenghaih to thling ah; na caehhaih loklam bangah palung to suem ah; Aw Israel, tangla cuem, amlaem let ah, nangmah ih vangpuinawk ah amlaem ah.
“Set up the roadmarks, establish the signposts. Keep the highway in mind, the road you have traveled. Return, O Virgin Israel, return to these cities of yours.
22 Loklam amkhraeng canu, nasetto maw nam het khing han vop? Angraeng mah long nuiah hmuen kangtha to sak boeh, nongpata mah nongpa to takui tih.
How long will you wander, O faithless daughter? For the LORD has created a new thing in the land— a woman will shelter a man.”
23 Misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng, Israel Sithaw mah, misong ah ohhaih prae thung hoiah nihcae to kam laem haih let naah loe, Aw toenghaih kaom ahmuen, kaciim mae, Angraeng mah tahamhoihaih ang paek, tiah Judah prae hoi vangpuinawk thungah kaom kaminawk mah hae lok hae patoh o let tih boeh.
This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: “When I restore them from captivity, they will once again speak this word in the land of Judah and in its cities: ‘May the LORD bless you, O righteous dwelling place, O holy mountain.’
24 Judah prae ah kaom kaminawk hoi vangpui thungah kaom kaminawk loe to ahmuen ah laikok atok kaminawk, tuutoep kaminawk hoi nawnto om o tih.
And Judah and all its cities will dwell together in the land, the farmers and those who move with the flocks,
25 Thazok kaminawk to ka pacah han; palungsae kaminawk palungsethaih to ka dipsak let han, tiah a thuih.
for I will refresh the weary soul and replenish all who are weak.”
26 Hae pongah kang lawt moe, ka khet naah, iih ka boep.
At this I awoke and looked around. My sleep had been most pleasant to me.
27 Khenah, Israel hoi Judah imthung takoh ah kami atii hoi moi kasan ih atii ka haehhaih atue to pha tih, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
“The days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man and of beast.
28 Nihcae to aphong ving moe, phraek hanah, vah ving moe, paro hanah, ka khet baktih toengah, nihcae to ka bomh han, nihcae to ka patit moe, ka khetzawn han, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
Just as I watched over them to uproot and tear down, to demolish, destroy, and bring disaster, so I will watch over them to build and to plant,” declares the LORD.
29 To na niah loe kaminawk mah, Kam panawk mah misurtui kathaw to caak o pongah, a caanawk loe haa kin o, tiah thui o mak ai boeh.
“In those days, it will no longer be said: ‘The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the teeth of the children are set on edge.’
30 Toe kami boih angmah sakpazaehaih pongah ni dueh o tih; misurtui kathaw caa kami loe, angmah ih haa ni kin tih boeh.
Instead, each will die for his own iniquity. If anyone eats the sour grapes, his own teeth will be set on edge.
31 Khenah, Angraeng mah, Israel imthung takoh, Judah imthung takoh hoi ka sak ih kangtha lokmaihaih atue to pha tih;
Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.
32 hae kaminawk ih ampanawk Izip prae thung hoiah ka zaeh naah, nihcae hoi ka sak ih lokmaihaih baktiah om mak ai; kai loe nihcae ih sava ah ka oh, toe nihcae loe ka lokmaihaih to phraek o, tiah Angraeng mah thuih;
It will not be like the covenant I made with their fathers when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt— a covenant they broke, though I was a husband to them,”
33 to pacoengah Israel imthung takoh hoi ka sak han ih lokmaihaih loe hae tiah om tih, Kai ih kaalok to nihcae palung thungah ka suek moe, nihcae ih palung thungah ka tarik pae han; kai loe nihcae ih Sithaw ah ka oh han, nihcae doeh kai ih kami ah om o tih, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
“But this is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the LORD. I will put My law in their minds and inscribe it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they will be My people.
34 Nihcae mah, Angraeng to panoek o khae, tiah mi mah doeh a imtaeng kami hoi nawkamyanawk to patuk o mak ai boeh; kathoeng koek hoi kalen koek karoek to kami boih mah Kai to panoek o tih boeh; nihcae sakpazaehaih to ka pakuem mak ai, ka tahmen pae han boeh, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
No longer will each man teach his neighbor or his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ because they will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquities and will remember their sins no more.”
35 Misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng, tiah ahmin kaom Angraeng mah, Khodai aangsak hanah ni, khoving aangsak hanah khrah hoi cakaehnawk, tuiphu angthawk hanah tuipui to ka paek, tiah thuih.
Thus says the LORD, who gives the sun for light by day, who sets in order the moon and stars for light by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar—the LORD of Hosts is His name:
36 To hmuen sakhaih dan loe natuek naah doeh ka hmaa hoi anghma ving mak ai, Israel caanawk loe ka hmaa hoi dungzan ah anghmaa zuep acaeng ah om o mak ai, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
“Only if this fixed order departed from My presence, declares the LORD, would Israel’s descendants ever cease to be a nation before Me.”
37 Angraeng mah hae tiah thuih; Van ranui ho na tah thai maw? Long angdoethaih ahmuen nasetto maw thuk, tiah na panoek thai maw? To hmuennawk panoek han rai parai baktih toengah Israel caanawk mah zaehaih sah o cadoeh, nihcae ka pahnawt sut hanah rai parai, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
This is what the LORD says: “Only if the heavens above could be measured and the foundations of the earth below searched out would I reject all of Israel’s descendants because of all they have done,”
38 Khenah, Hananel imsang hoi angtaeng koekah kaom khongkha khoek to, Angraeng hanah vangpui to sah o tih, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
“The days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when this city will be rebuilt for Me, from the tower of Hananel to the Corner Gate.
39 To ahmuen hoiah tahhaih qui to Gareb mae khoek to payuengh o ueloe, Goah ah caeh o haih tih.
The measuring line will once again stretch out straight to the hill of Gareb and then turn toward Goah.
40 Kadueh qok hoi maiphunawk vahhaih azawn, ni angyae bangah Kidron vacong taeng ih tangtling ahmuennawk boih hoi hrang khongkha ohhaih khoek to, Angraeng han hmuenciim ah om tih; vangpui loe natuek naah doeh aphong mak ai, phrae doeh phrae mak ai boeh, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
The whole valley of the dead bodies and ashes, and all the fields as far as the Kidron Valley, to the corner of the Horse Gate to the east, will be holy to the LORD. It will never again be uprooted or demolished.”
