< Jeremiah 28 >
1 To saning thung, Judah siangpahrang Zedekiah prae uk amtonghaih saning palito haih, khrah pangato naah, Gibeon ah kaom tahmaa Azzur capa Hananiah mah, Angraeng im ah, qaimanawk hoi kaminawk boih hmaa ah, ang thuih ih lok loe,
In the fifth month of that same year, the fourth year, near the beginning of the reign of King Zedekiah of Judah, the prophet Hananiah son of Azzur, who was from Gibeon, said to me in the house of the LORD in the presence of the priests and all the people:
2 misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng, Israel Sithaw mah, Babylon sianhgpahrang ih hnam to ka khaeh pae boeh, tiah thuih.
“This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.
3 Babylon siangpahrang Nebuchadnezzar mah, hae ahmuen hoi ah lak moe, Babylon ah sin ving ih, Angraeng imthung ih laom sabaenawk boih to saning hnetto thungah hae ahmuen ah ka sin let han.
Within two years I will restore to this place all the articles of the house of the LORD that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon removed from here and carried to Babylon.
4 Judah siangpahrang Jehoiakim capa Jekoniah doeh, Babylon ah misong ah kalaem Judah kaminawk boih hoi nawnto, hae ahmuen ah ka hoih let han, nihcae ih hnam to ka khaeh pae boeh, tiah Angraeng mah thuih, tiah a naa.
And I will restore to this place Jeconiah son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, along with all the exiles from Judah who went to Babylon,’ declares the LORD, ‘for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.’”
5 Tahmaa Jeremiah mah, qaimanawk hoi Angraeng ih im thungah angdoe kaminawk boih mikhnuk ah tahmaa Hananiah khaeah lok a thuih pae.
Then the prophet Jeremiah replied to the prophet Hananiah in the presence of the priests and all the people who were standing in the house of the LORD.
6 Tahmaa Jeremiah mah, anih khaeah, Amen! Angraeng mah sah nasoe! Angraeng im ih laom sabaenawk boih, hae ahmuen hoiah Babylon ah misong ah caeh kaminawk kawng pongah, na thuih ih lok baktih toengah Angraeng mah koepsak nasoe!
“Amen!” Jeremiah said. “May the LORD do so! May the LORD fulfill the words you have prophesied, and may He restore the articles of His house and all the exiles back to this place from Babylon.
7 Toe nangmah hoi kaminawk boih khaeah, vaihi ka thuih ih lok hae tahngai ah;
Nevertheless, listen now to this message I am speaking in your hearing and in the hearing of all the people.
8 kai hoi nangcae om ai nathuem, canghnii ah kaom tahmaanawk mah kapop parai praenawk hoi misa ohhaih kawng, thacak praenawk hoi misa angcoenghaih kawng, misa angtukhaih kawng, kasae tonghaih hoi kasae nathaih kawngnawk to a thuih o.
The prophets of old who preceded you and me prophesied war, disaster, and plague against many lands and great kingdoms.
9 Misa amdinghaih kawng kathui, tahmaa mah thuih ih lok to koep naah ni, to tahmaa loe Angraeng mah patoeh tangtang, tiah panoek o tih, tiah a naa.
As for the prophet who prophesies peace, only if the word of the prophet comes true will the prophet be recognized as one the LORD has truly sent.”
10 To naah tahmaa Hananiah mah tahmaa Jeremiah tahnong pong ih hnam to lak moe, a khaeh pae.
Then the prophet Hananiah took the yoke off the neck of Jeremiah the prophet and broke it.
11 Hananiah mah kaminawk boih hmaa ah, Babylon siangpahrang Nebuchadnezzar mah, prae kaminawk ih tahnong ah bang ih hnam to saning hnetto thung, hae tiah ka khaeh pae boih han, tiah Angraeng mah thuih, tiah a naa. To naah tahmaa Jeremiah mah anih to caehtaak ving.
And in the presence of all the people Hananiah proclaimed, “This is what the LORD says: ‘In this way, within two years I will break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon off the neck of all the nations.’” At this, Jeremiah the prophet went on his way.
12 Tahmaa Jeremiah tahnong pong ih hnam to tahmaa Hananiah mah khaeh pae pacoengah, Angraeng ih lok tahmaa Jeremiah khaeah angzoh,
But shortly after Hananiah the prophet had broken the yoke off his neck, the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah:
13 Caeh ah loe, Hananiah khaeah, Angraeng mah, Thing hoi sak ih hnam to na khaeh pae; toe sum hoi sak ih hnam to na hnu tih, tiah thuih, tiah thui paeh, tiah a naa.
“Go and tell Hananiah that this is what the LORD says: ‘You have broken a yoke of wood, but in its place you have fashioned a yoke of iron.’
14 Nihcae mah Babylon siangpahrang Nebukhanezzar ih toksak pae o hanah, sum hoi sak ih hnam to hae prae kaminawk boih ih tahnong ah ka suek pae han; nihcae mah anih ih tok to sah pae o tih; taw ah kaom moisannawk doeh anih han ka paek boih boeh, tiah misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng, Israel Sithaw mah thuih.
For this is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘I have put a yoke of iron on the neck of all these nations to make them serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and they will serve him. I have even given him control of the beasts of the field.’”
15 To pacoengah tahmaa Jeremiah mah, tahmaa Hananiah khaeah, Hananiah, vaihi tahngai ah! Nang loe Angraeng mah patoeh ih kami na ai ni; toe hae kaminawk mah na thuih ih amsawnlok to tang o thai hanah, na zoek khing.
Then the prophet Jeremiah said to the prophet Hananiah, “Listen, Hananiah! The LORD did not send you, but you have persuaded this people to trust in a lie.
16 To pongah Angraeng mah hae tiah thuih; Khenah, long hoiah kang takhoe ving han; Angraeng ih lok aek hanah na patuk pongah, vaining saning thungah na dueh tih, tiah a naa.
Therefore this is what the LORD says: ‘I am about to remove you from the face of the earth. You will die this year because you have preached rebellion against the LORD.’”
17 To na saning khrah sarihto naah tahmaa Hananiah to duek.
And in the seventh month of that very year, the prophet Hananiah died.
