< Jeremiah 27 >

1 Josiah capa Judah siangpahrang Zedekiah siangpahrang ah oh amtong nathuem ah, Angraeng ih lok Jeremiah khaeah angzoh,
Soon after Zedekiah became the King of Judah, Yahweh gave a message to me.
2 Angraeng mah, kai khaeah, Qui hoi hnam to sah ah loe, na tahnong nuiah koeng ah,
This is what he said to me: “Make a (yoke/set of wooden bars to fasten around the neck of an ox), but fasten it around your own neck with leather straps.
3 to pacoengah to qui hoi hnam to Edom, Moab, Ammon, Tura hoi Sidon siangpahrangnawk khaeah pat paeh. To prae hoi angzo siangpahrang ih laicaehnawk loe Judah siangpahrang Zedekiah tongh hanah Jerusalem ah oh o.
[Then] send messages to the kings of Edom, Moab, Ammon, Tyre, and Sidon, by telling those messages to the ambassadors from those countries who have come to Jerusalem to [talk to] King Zedekiah.
4 Nihcae mah angmacae ukkung angraengnawk khaeah, Misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng, Israel Sithaw mah, Nangmacae ukkung angraengnawk khaeah,
Tell them to give this message to their kings: This is what the Commander of the armies of angels, the God whom the Israeli [people worship, ]:
5 kaimah ni thacak parai ban to payangh moe, long hoi a nuiah kaom kaminawk hoi taw ah kaom moisannawk boih to ka sak; kai loe paek koeh ih kaminawk khaeah ka paek, tiah thuih, tiah thui pae oh, tiah a naa.
‘With my very great power [MTY, DOU] I created the earth and the people and the animals that are on the earth. And I can give my power to anyone whom I want to.
6 Ka tamna, Babylon siangpahrang Nebuchadnezzar khaeah vaihi hae praenawk hae ka paek boih boeh; a tok sak pae o hanah taw ih moinawk doeh anih hanah ka paek boeh.
And now I am going to enable King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, who does what I want him to do, to control your countries. I am going to enable him to rule everything, even the wild animals.
7 Anih ih prae boenghaih pha ai karoek to prae kaminawk boih mah, anih ih tok, a caanawk ih tok, a caanawk ih caa patoeng ih tok to sah pae o tih; pop parai kaminawk hoi lensawk siangpahrangnawk mah doeh anih ih tok to sah pae o tih.
[The people of] all the nations will work for him, and [later] for his son, and [later] for his grandson, until the time for them [to rule] is finished. Then [the armies of] many great kings from many nations will conquer Babylon.’
8 Toe, Babylon siangpahrang Nebuchadnezzar ih tok to sak koeh ai moe, anih ih hmuen phawh koeh ai kami hoi praenawk boih loe, anih ban ah kam rosak han: to prae to Nebuchadnezzar hanah sumsen hoi ka tuksak moe, khokhahaih hoiah maw, kasae nathaih hoiah maw ka dueksak han, tiah Angraeng mah thuih, tiah thui paeh oh, tiah a naa.
But now I tell you that you must [do what the king of Babylon wants you to do] [MET], [like an ox that has] a yoke on its neck [must do what its master wants it to do]. I will punish any nation that refuses to do that. I will cause those people to experience war and famine and diseases, until [the armies of] Babylon have conquered that nation.
9 To pongah Babylon siangpahrang ih tok to sah pae o hmah, tiah nangcae khaeah kathui, nangmacae ih tahmaanawk, hmabang angzo han koi thui kaminawk, amang sah kaminawk, taqawk kawk thaih kaminawk, adoi sah kop kaminawk ih lok to tahngai o hmah.
So, do not pay attention to your [false] prophets and fortune-tellers and people who predict what will happen by working magic or by talking with spirits of dead people. Those people say that the king of Babylon will not conquer your country.
10 Nihcae ih amsawnlok to na tahngaih o nahaeloe, prae kangthla ah kang thak o moe, kang haek o han, to tiah nangcae loe nang hmaa nang taa o tih.
Those people are [all] liars. [If you believe what they say, ] it will result in your being exiled from your land. I will cause you to be taken from your land, and you will die far away.
11 Toe Babylon siangpahrang ih lok to tahngaih moe, anih ih hmuen phaw kami, anih ih toksah kaminawk loe angmacae prae ah kho ka saksak han; nihcae loe to ah toksah o ueloe, khosah o tih, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
But the people of any country who do what the King of Babylon wants them to do will remain in their own country and be able to plant their crops [MTY] [as they always have done. That will surely happen because I], Yahweh, have said it.”
12 Hae loknawk hae Judah siangpahrang Zedekiah khaeah doeh ka thuih pae; Babylon siangpahrang ih hmuen to phaw oh, anih hoi anih kaminawk ih tok to sah pae oh, to tiah nahaeloe na hing o tih, tiah ka naa.
[After I gave that message to those ambassadors, ] I gave the same message to King Zedekiah of Judah. [I said to him, ] “If you want to remain alive, do what the King of Babylon and his officials want you to do [MET].
13 Babylon siangpahrang ih toksak koeh ai prae kaminawk loe, Angraeng mah thuih ih lok baktih toengah, nangmah hoi nangmah ih kaminawk loe sumsen, khokhahaih hoi kasae nathaih hoiah dueh ai ah om o tih maw?
[It would be foolish for you not to do that, because the result would be that] you and your people would die by [your enemies’] swords or by famine or diseases, which Yahweh will cause any nation to experience that refuses to allow the King of Babylon to rule them.
14 To pongah Babylon siangpahrang ih tok to sah pae o hmah, tiah nangcae khaeah thui, tahmaanawk ih lok to tahngai o hmah, nihcae mah amsawnlok ni ang thuih o.
Do not pay attention to those prophets who say to you, ‘The King of Babylon will not conquer your country.’ They are liars.
15 Nangcae khaeah lok kathui tahmaanawk loe Kai ih ahmin hoiah amsawnlok ni a thuih o, nihcae to ka patoeh ai; nihcae ih lok baktiah na sak o nahaeloe, nangcae hoi nangcae khaeah lokthui tahmaanawk to prae kangthla ah ka haek moe, kang hmatsak han, tiah Angraeng mah thuih, tiah ka thuih pae.
[This is what] Yahweh says: ‘I have not appointed those prophets. They are saying that I [MTY] gave them messages, but they are lying. So, [if you believe them, ] I will expel you from this land. And you and all those prophets will die [in Babylon]!’”
16 To pacoengah qaimanawk hoi kaminawk boih khaeah, Khenah, Angraeng mah, akra ai ah Angraeng imthung ih laom sabaenawk to Babylon hoiah sin o boih let tih, tiah lok kathui tahmaanawk ih lok to tahngai o hmah; nangcae khaeah amsawnlok ni ang thuih o, tiah Angraeng mah thuih, tiah ka naa.
Then I spoke to the priests and the other people, and I said, “This is what Yahweh says: ‘Do not believe your prophets who tell you that all the gold items [that were taken] from my temple [by soldiers from Babylon] will soon be returned from Babylon, because what they are prophesying is a lie.
17 Nihcae ih lok to tahngai o hmah; na hing o hanah Babylon siangpahrang ih tok to sah pae oh; to tiah na sah o ai nahaeloe hae vangpui hae amrosak boih mak ai maw?
Do not pay attention to what they say. Surrender to the king of Babylon. If you do that, you will remain alive. [If you do not do that] [RHQ], this entire city will be destroyed.
18 Nihcae loe tahmaa ah oh o moe, Angraeng ih lok to thuih hanah tawn o tangtang nahaeloe, Jerusalem ih Angraeng im hoi Judah siangpahrang im ih kanghmat laom sabaenawk Babylon ah caeh o haih han ai ah, misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng khaeah tahmenhaih hni o nasoe.
If they are really prophets who speak messages from me, tell them to plead to me, the Commander of the armies of angels, that [the soldiers from Babylon] will not be allowed to take away to Babylon the valuable items that [still] remain in the temple and in the king’s palace and in [the other palaces in] Jerusalem.
19 Babylon siangpahrang Nebuchadnezzar mah, Judah ih angraengnawk, Jerusalem ih angraengnawk hoi nawnto, Jehoiakim capa, Judah siangpahrang Jekoniah Jerusalem hoi Babylon ah misong ah caeh haih naah, hae vangpui thungah kaom tungnawk, tuipui, angthui thaih imcih angdoethaih tungnawk hoi kanghmat laom sabaenawk to la boih ai, Angraeng ih im, Jerusalem ah kaom Judah siangpahrang im ah atho kana hmuemaenawk to a caehtaak mang vop, tiah misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng mah thuih;
[I say this] because the [huge] pillars [that are in front of the temple] and the large water tank and the [ten water] carts and all the other items that are used [for offering sacrifices are still in this city].
King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon left those things here when he exiled Jehoiachin, the king of Judah, to Babylon, along with all the [other] leaders of Jerusalem and [the leaders of other places in] Judah.
[I], the Commander of the armies of angels, the God whom the Israeli [people worship], say this about all those valuable things that are still outside the temple and in the palace of the king of Judah and in [other places in]:
22 toe vaihi loe to hmuennawk to Babylon ah caeh o haih tih boeh, ka kawkhaih atue pha ai karoek to, to ah om o tih; to pacoengah kam laem haih let moe, hae ahmuen ah ka suek let han, tiah Angraeng mah thuih, tiah ka thuih pae.
They will [all] be carried away to Babylon. And they will stay there until I say that they should be brought back to Jerusalem. Then they will be bought back here. [That is what I, ] Yahweh, say.’”
