< Jeremiah 26 >

1 Josiah capa Judah siangpahrang Jehoiakim siangpahrang ah oh nathuem ah, Angraeng khae hoiah hae lok hae angzoh,
At the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, this word came from the LORD:
2 Angraeng mah, Angraeng im thungah angdoeh loe, Sithaw bok han Angraeng im thungah angzo, Judah vangpui kaminawk boih khaeah, thuih han kang paek ih loknawk boih to thui ah; lokmu maeto doeh tahmat hmah;
“This is what the LORD says: Stand in the courtyard of the house of the LORD and speak all the words I have commanded you to speak to all the cities of Judah who come to worship there. Do not omit a word.
3 to tiah nahaeloe nihcae mah na lok to tahngai o ueloe, a sak o ih kahoih ai hmuen hoiah amlaem o let tih; kai mah doeh a sak o ih kahoih ai hmuen pongah nihcae danpaek han ka poekhaih to ka zuh let han, tiah a thuih.
Perhaps they will listen and turn—each from his evil way of life—so that I may relent of the disaster I am planning to bring upon them because of the evil of their deeds.
4 Angraeng mah, Ka lok na tahngai o ai moe, nangcae hmaa ah ka suek ih ka lok to na pazui o ai, tiah thuih, tiah thui paeh, tiah ang naa.
And you are to tell them that this is what the LORD says: ‘If you do not listen to Me and walk in My law, which I have set before you,
5 Khawnthaw ah kang thawk moe, nangcae khaeah ka tamna tahmaanawk to kang patoeh, toe nihcae mah thuih ih lok to na tahngai o ai, vaihi doeh lok na tahngai o ai nahaeloe,
and if you do not listen to the words of My servants the prophets, whom I have sent you again and again even though you did not listen,
6 hae im hae Shiloh baktiah ka sak moe, hae vangpui doeh long kaminawk boih mah tangoeng ih vangpui ah ka sak han, tiah a thuih.
then I will make this house like Shiloh, and I will make this city an object of cursing among all the nations of the earth.’”
7 Jeremiah mah Angraeng im thungah thuih ih hae loknawk loe, qaimanawk, tahmaanawk hoi kaminawk boih mah thaih o.
Now the priests and prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the house of the LORD,
8 Angraeng mah thuih han paek ih loknawk to Jeremiah mah kaminawk boih khaeah thuih pacoengah, qaimanawk, tahmaanawk hoi kaminawk boih mah anih to naeh o moe, Nang loe na duek han oh! tiah a naa o.
and as soon as he had finished telling all the people everything the LORD had commanded him to say, the priests and prophets and all the people seized him, shouting, “You must surely die!
9 Tipongah hae im loe Shiloh baktiah om ueloe, hae vangpui doeh pong sut tih boeh, tiah Angraeng ih ahmin hoiah lok na thuih loe? tiah a naa o. Angraeng im ah kaom kaminawk boih nawnto amkhueng o moe, Jeremiah to kasae net o.
How dare you prophesy in the name of the LORD that this house will become like Shiloh and this city will be desolate and deserted!” And all the people assembled against Jeremiah in the house of the LORD.
10 Judah ukkung angraengnawk mah to lok to thaih o naah, siangpahrang im hoiah Angraeng im ah caeh o tahang moe, Angraeng im khongkha kangtha ah anghnut o.
When the officials of Judah heard these things, they went up from the king’s palace to the house of the LORD and sat there at the entrance of the New Gate.
11 To naah qaimanawk hoi tahmaanawk mah, Nangmacae naa hoi na thaih o ih baktih toengah, Jeremiah mah hae vangpui amrohaih lok to thuih pongah, anih loe duek han krak! tiah ukkung angraengnawk hoi kaminawk khaeah a thuih pae o.
Then the priests and prophets said to the officials and all the people, “This man is worthy of death, for he has prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your own ears!”
12 To naah Jeremiah mah, ukkung angraengnawk boih hoi kaminawk khaeah, na thaih o ih lok baktih toengah, hae im hoi hae vangpui misa haih lok to taphong boih hanah, Angraeng mah ang patoeh, tiah a naa.
But Jeremiah said to all the officials and all the people, “The LORD sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that you have heard.
13 Vaihi na sak o ih hmuennawk hoi na pazui o ih loklamnawk to caeh o taak ah loe, Angraeng ih lok to tahngai oh; to tiah nahaeloe nangcae paro han Angraeng mah thuih ih loknawk to azuk let tih.
So now, correct your ways and deeds, and obey the voice of the LORD your God, so that He might relent of the disaster He has pronounced against you.
14 Khenah, kai loe nangcae ban ah ni ka oh, hoih moe amsoem, tiah na poek o ih baktih toengah ka nuiah sah oh.
As for me, here I am in your hands; do to me what you think is good and right.
15 Toe na panoek o han ih loe, kai nang hum o nahaeloe, zaehaih tawn ai kami athii longhaih atho loe nangmacae nuiah, hae vangpui nui hoi athung ah kaom kaminawk nuiah, na krah o sak tangtang tih, tiah panoek oh; hae loknawk boih na thaih o hanah, Angraeng mah ni kai hae nangcae khaeah patoeh, tiah a naa.
But know for certain that if you put me to death, you will bring innocent blood upon yourselves, upon this city, and upon its residents; for truly the LORD has sent me to speak all these words in your hearing.”
16 To naah ukkung angraeng hoi kaminawk boih mah, qaimanawk hoi tahmaanawk khaeah, Hae kami loe duek han krah ai! Anih loe Angraeng aicae Sithaw ih ahmin hoiah ni lok a thuih, tiah a naa o.
Then the officials and all the people told the priests and prophets, “This man is not worthy of death, for he has spoken to us in the name of the LORD our God!”
17 Prae thung ih kacoehta thoemto kaminawk to angthawk o moe, amkhueng kaminawk khaeah,
Some of the elders of the land stood up and said to the whole assembly of the people,
18 Judah siangpahrang Hezekiah angraenghaih saning ah, Moresheth ih Mikah mah lok to thuih; Judah kaminawk boih khaeah, Angraeng Sithaw mah, Zion loe laikok baktiah atok tih, Jerusalem loe angpop sut thlung baktiah om ueloe, tempul ih mae doeh taw kapring baktiah om tih, tiah thuih.
“Micah the Moreshite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah and told all the people of Judah that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: ‘Zion will be plowed like a field, Jerusalem will become a heap of rubble, and the temple mount a wooded ridge.’
19 To naah Judah siangpahrang Hezekiah hoi Judah kaminawk mah anih to hum o maw? Hezekiah mah Angraeng to zit moe, Angraeng khaeah tahmenhaih hnik na ai maw? Nihcae amrosak hanah Angraeng mah thuih tangcae ih lok to azuh let na ai maw? Toe aicae loe kalen parai aimacae amrohaih to a oh o sak tom boeh, tiah a thuih o.
Did Hezekiah king of Judah or anyone else in Judah put him to death? Did Hezekiah not fear the LORD and seek His favor, and did not the LORD relent of the disaster He had pronounced against them? But we are about to bring great harm on ourselves!”
20 Kirjath Jearim ih kaom Shemaiah capa Uriah mah doeh, Angraeng ih ahmin hoiah lok to thuih toeng; hae vangpui hoi hae prae amrohaih kawng thuih ih lok loe, Jeremiah mah thuih ih lok hoiah anghmong.
Now there was another man prophesying in the name of the LORD, Uriah son of Shemaiah from Kiriath-jearim. He prophesied against this city and against this land the same things that Jeremiah did.
21 Uriah mah thuih ih lok to siangpahrang Jehoiakim hoi anih ukkung angraengnawk, angmah ih thacak kaminawk mah, siangpahrang mah anih hum hanah patoem; to hmuen to Uriah mah thaih naah, zit pongah Izip prae ah cawnh ving;
King Jehoiakim and all his mighty men and officials heard his words, and the king sought to put him to death. But when Uriah found out about it, he fled in fear and went to Egypt.
22 to naah Jehoiakim mah, Akbor capa Elnathan hoi thoemto kaminawk to Izip prae ah patoeh.
Then King Jehoiakim sent men to Egypt: Elnathan son of Achbor along with some other men.
23 Izip prae hoiah Uriah to hoih o moe, Jehoiakim siangpahrang khaeah caeh o haih; siangpahrang mah Uriah to sumsen hoiah hum, kadueh qok to kamtang kaminawk ih taprong ah a vah sut.
They brought Uriah out of Egypt and took him to King Jehoiakim, who had him put to the sword and his body thrown into the burial place of the common people.
24 Toe Shaphan capa Ahikam mah Jeremiah to angdoet haih pongah, anih to hum hanah kaminawk ban ah paek o ai.
Nevertheless, Ahikam son of Shaphan supported Jeremiah, so he was not handed over to the people to be put to death.
