< Jeremiah 23 >

1 Kai ih tuu takha thungah kapra tuunawk to amrosak moe, ahmuen kruekah amkhraengsak tuutoep kaminawk loe khosak bing o! tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
“Woe to the shepherds who scatter and tear apart the sheep of my pasture, says the Lord.
2 To pongah Israel Angraeng Sithaw mah, kai ih kami pacah tuutoep kaminawk khaeah, Kai ih tuunawk to na toep o ai, na khenzawn o ai moe, na haek o boih; khenah, na sak o ih hmuennawk baktih toengah nangcae nuiah kang phaksak han, tiah thuih.
Because of this, thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, to the shepherds who pasture my people: You have scattered my flock, and you have driven them away, and you have not visited them. Behold, I will visit upon you because of your evil pursuits, says the Lord.
3 Ka haek ih prae boih thungah anghmat ka tuunawk to ka tacuu moe, angmacae ih tuu khongkha thungah ka prawt let han; nihcae loe to ah caa sah o ueloe, pung o tih.
And I will gather together the remnant of my flock from the entire earth, from the places to which I had cast them out. And I will return them to their own fields. And they will increase and be multiplied.
4 Nihcae khetzawn hanah tuutoep kaminawk to ka suek han, nihcae loe zithaih hoi tasoehhaih tawn o mak ai boeh, thuitaekhaih doeh om mak ai boeh, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
And I will raise up shepherds over them, and they will pasture them. They will no longer dread, and they will no longer fear. And no one among their number will be seeking more, says the Lord.
5 Khenah, David hanah toenghaih tadok ka tacawtsak han, siangpahrang maeto mah uk tih, khosak hoihaih om ueloe, long nuiah toenghaih hoi lokcaekhaih ani to angzo tih.
Behold, the days are approaching, says the Lord, when I will raise up to David a righteous branch. And a king will reign, and he will be wise. And he will exercise judgment and justice upon the earth.
6 Anih ih atue thungah Judah to pahlong ah om ueloe, Israel loe monghaih hoiah khosah tih; to angraeng loe aicae toenghaih Angraeng, Jehovah-tsikenu, tiah kawk tih.
In those days, Judah will be saved, and Israel will live in confidence. And this is the name that they will call him: ‘The Lord, our Just One.’
7 To pongah, khenah, to ani loe angzoh li boeh, tiah Angraeng mah thuih; to naah kaminawk mah, Israel caanawk Izip prae hoi zaehoikung Angraeng loe hing, tiah thui o mak ai boeh;
Because of this, behold, the days are approaching, says the Lord, when they will no longer say, ‘As the Lord lives, who led the sons of Israel away from the land of Egypt,’
8 toe, ka haek ih prae boih hoi aluek bang ih prae hoiah Israel imthung takohnawk zaehoikung, Angraeng loe hing, tiah thui o tih; nihcae loe angmacae ih prae thungah om o tih boeh.
but instead, ‘As the Lord lives, who led away and brought back the offspring of the house of Israel from the land of the north and from the entire earth,’ from the places to which I had cast them out. And they will live in their own land.”
9 Tahmaanawk kawng pongah ka palungthin to koih boeh; ka huhnawk boih anghuen boeh; Angraeng hoi kaciim a loknawk pongah, mu paquih baktiah ka oh, mu mah pazawk ih kami baktiah ka oh boeh.
To the prophets: “My heart is crushed within me. All my bones are trembling. I have become like an inebriated man, and like a man maddened by wine, before the face of the Lord, and before the face of his holy words.
10 Prae loe nongpa nongpata zaesakhaih hoiah koi boeh; tangoenghaih pongah prae to zaek boih boeh, praezaek ih kahoih long doeh zaek boih boeh, tahmaanawk loe kasae loklam to pazui o, nihcae thacakhaih to katoengah patoh o ai.
For the earth is full of adulterers! And the earth has mourned before the face of evil talk. The plains of the desert have dried up, and their course has become hazardous, and their firmness has become uneven.”
11 Tahmaa hoi qaima loe Sithaw saiqathaih to tawn ai; ka im thungah mataeng doeh, nihnik sethaih to ka hnuk, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
“For both the prophet and the priest have become polluted, and I have found their wickedness within my own house, says the Lord.
12 To pongah nihnik ih loklam loe khoving thung ih loklam kamnae baktiah oh, nihnik to nuih o tih, to naah nihnik loe amthaek hoi tih; nihnik thuitaekhaih saning phak naah, nihnik nuiah sethaih to ka phaksak han, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
For this reason, their way will be like a slippery path in the dark. For they will be impelled forward, and they will fall in it. For I will bring evils over them, in the year of their visitation, says the Lord.
13 Samaria ih tahmaanawk thungah doeh amthuhaih to ka hnuk; Baal ih ahmin hoiah lok a thuih o moe, kai ih kami Israel caanawk to loklam anghmang o sak.
And I have seen the foolishness of the prophets of Samaria. They have prophesied in Baal, and they have deceived my people Israel.
14 Jerusalem ih tahmaanawk salakah doeh panuet kaom hmuen to ka hnuk; nihcae loe zu sava nuiah nongpa nongpata zaehaih to sak o moe, amsawnlok a thuih o; kasae sah kaminawk ih ban to thacak o sak, a sak o ih sethaih hoiah amlaem kami om ai; nihcae loe kai hanah Sodom baktiah oh o, Jerusalem kaminawk loe Gomorrah baktiah oh o boih, tiah a thuih.
And in the prophets of Jerusalem, I have seen the likeness of adulterers and the path of falsehood. And they have strengthened the hands of the wicked, so that each one would not convert from his malice. They have all become to me like Sodom, and its inhabitants have become like Gomorrah.”
15 To pongah tahmaanawk pongah, misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng Sithaw mah, Jerusalem ih tahmaanawk amhnonghaih loe prae boih ah pung boeh, to pongah nihcae han kakhaa tasi to ka pacah moe, tui kakhaa to ka naeksak han, tiah thuih.
Because of this, thus says the Lord of hosts to the prophets: “Behold, I will feed them absinthe, and I will give them gall to drink. For from the prophets of Jerusalem corruption has gone forth over the entire earth.”
16 Misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng mah, tahmaa rumramnawk mah nangcae khaeah thuih o ih lok to tahngai o hmah; nihcae mah ni nangcae oep kaom ai ah ang oh o sak; Angraeng ih pakha thung hoiah tacawt lok na ai ah, angmacae palung thung hoiah poek o ih baktiah ni lok to a thuih o rumram, tiah thuih.
Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Do not choose to listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you and deceive you. They speak a vision from their own heart, and not from the mouth of the Lord.
17 Kai patoek kaminawk khaeah, Monghaih na tawn o tih, tiah Angraeng mah thuih, tiah a naa o; angmacae poekhaih hoi palung mah thuih ih lok baktiah pazui kaminawk khaeah, nangcae nuiah raihaih tidoeh pha mak ai, tiah a naa o.
To those who blaspheme me, they say: ‘The Lord has said: You shall have peace.’ And to everyone who walks in the depravity of his own heart, they have said: ‘No evil will overwhelm you.’”
18 A lok to hnuk moe, thaih hanah, nihcae salakah mi maw Angraeng hoi lokthuih hanah angdoe? Mi mah maw a lok thaih pae hanah tahngai?
For who has been present in the counsel of the Lord, and who has seen and heard his word? Who has considered his word and heard it?
19 Khenah, Angraeng ih takhi kamhae loe palungphuihaih hoiah song; to takhi loe ham parai, kahoih ai kaminawk lu nuiah krah tih.
Behold, the whirlwind of the Lord’s indignation will go forth, and a tempest will break out; it will overwhelm the head of the impious.
20 Angraeng palungphuihaih loe palung thungah poekhaih koepsak ai karoek to amlaem let mak ai; hnukkhuem ah ni kamtuengah na panoek o tih.
The fury of the Lord will not return until it succeeds, and until it completes the plan of his heart. In the last days, you will understand this counsel.
21 Hae tahmaanawk loe kai mah patoeh ih tahmaa na ai ni, toe nihcae loe cawnh o; nihcae khaeah lok ka thui ai, toe angmacae koehah lok to thuih o.
“I did not send these prophets, yet they hurry forward. I was not speaking to them, yet they were prophesying.
22 Nihcae hoi kai lokramhaih om nahaeloe, kai ih kaminawk mah ka lok to tahngai o ueloe, loklam kasae, kahoih ai hmuen sakhaih hoiah nihcae to amlaemsak tih.
If they had stood in my counsel, and if I had made my words known to my people, certainly I would have turned them away from their evil ways and from their most wicked plans.
23 Kai loe anghnai daek ah kaom Sithaw ah ka oh baktih toengah, angthla ah kaom Sithaw ah doeh ka om ai maw? tiah, Angraeng mah thuih.
Do you not realize that I am a God close by, says the Lord, and not a God far away?
24 Ka hnuk thaih han ai ah, tamquta hoi anghawk thaih kami to oh maw? tiah Angraeng mah thuih. Van hoi long koisakung loe kai na ai maw? tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
If a man is hidden in concealed places, do I not see him, says the Lord? Do I not fill up heaven and earth, says the Lord?
25 Tahmaanawk mah kai ih ahmin hoiah Amang ka sak! Amang ka sak! tiah thuih o ih amsawnlok to ka thaih.
I have heard what the prophets have said, prophesying falsehoods in my name, and also saying: ‘I have dreamed! I have dreamed!’
26 To tahmaanawk ih palung thungah amsawnlok thuihaih nasetto maw om vop tih? Ue, nihcae loe angmacae ih palung mah alinghaih baktiah ni lok to a thuih o,
How long will this be in the heart of the prophets who predict what is false, and who prophesy deceptions from their own heart?
27 ampanawk mah Baal to bok o moe, kai ih ahmin pahnet o baktih toengah, kai ih kaminawk mah kai ih ahmin pahnet o thai hanah, imtaeng kaminawk boih khaeah angmacae ih amang to a thuih pae o.
They want to cause my people to forget my name, by means of their dreams, which each of them describes to his neighbor, just as their fathers forgot my name for the sake of Baal.
28 Amang sah tahmaa mah amang to thui nasoe; ka lok taphong kami mah doeh ka lok to oep kaom ah thui nasoe. Cangni hoi canghii angvanhaih oh maw? tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
The prophet who has had a dream, let him describe the dream. And he who receives my word, let him speak my word in truth. For what has the chaff to do with the wheat, says the Lord?
29 Ka lok loe hmai baktiah oh moe, thlung khuekhaih cakii baktiah om ai maw? tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
Are not my words like a fire, says the Lord, and like a hammer crushing rock?
30 To pongah, khenah, imtaeng kaminawk khae hoi ka lok paqu patoeng tahmaanawk to misa ah ka sak han, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
Therefore, behold: I am against the prophets, says the Lord, who steal my words, each one from his neighbor.
31 Khenah, angmacae koeh ah palai to patoh moe, amang ka sak, tiah thui tahmaanawk to misa ah ka sak han, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
Behold, I am against the prophets, says the Lord, who take up their tongues and say: ‘The Lord says it.’
32 Khenah, avang ai amang thui kaminawk to misa ah ka suek, tiah Angraeng mah thuih; nihcae to ka patoeh ai, nihcae khaeah ka thui ai to mah, tiah doeh sah ai ah, kai ih kaminawk khaeah amsawnlok to a thuih pae o moe, loklam amkhraeng o sak; hae kaminawk loe atho om ai, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
Behold, I am against the prophets, who dream what is false, says the Lord; who explain and so seduce my people with their falsehoods and with their miracles, though I did not send them, nor did I command them. They have offered nothing beneficial to this people, says the Lord.
33 Hae kaminawk mah maw, tahmaa mah maw, qaima mah maw, Angraeng ih lok loe tih aa? tiah nang khaeah lok ang dueng o naah nihcae khaeah, Angraeng ih lok mah, kang pahnawt o sut han boeh, tiah Angraeng mah thuih, tiah thui pae oh.
Therefore, if this people, or a prophet, or a priest questions you, saying, ‘What is the burden of the Lord?’ you shall say to them, ‘You are the burden. And certainly I will cast you away, says the Lord.’
34 Hae loe Angraeng ih lok ni, tiah tahmaa mah maw, qaima mah maw, kaminawk mah maw thui o nahaeloe, kathui kami hoi a imthung takoh boih ka thuitaek han.
And as for the prophet, and the priest, and the people who say, ‘The burden of the Lord!’ I will visit upon that man and upon his house.
35 Nangcae mah, nihcae ampuinawk hoi nihcae ih caanawk boih khaeah, Angraeng mah timaw ang pathim moe, tih lok maw ang thuih? tiah dueng oh.
And then you will speak in this way, each one to his neighbor and to his brother: ‘What has the Lord answered? And what has the Lord said?’
36 Kami boih mah, angmah koehah thuih ih lok to oh; to lok to Angraeng mah thuih ih lok ni, tiah na thuih o nahaeloe, Kahing Sithaw hoi misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng, aicae Sithaw ih lok to nam khraeng o sak boeh.
And the burden of the Lord will no longer be called to mind. For each one’s own word will be a burden. For you have perverted the words of the living God, of the Lord of hosts, our God.
37 Tahmaa khaeah, Angraeng mah timaw ang pathim moe, tih lok maw ang thuih? tiah dueng oh.
And then you will speak in this way to the prophet: ‘What has the Lord answered you? And what has the Lord spoken?’
38 Toe hae loe Angraeng mah thuih ih lok ni, tiah thui o hmah, tiah Angraeng ang thuih o ih lok to na tang o ai moe, hae loe Angraeng mah thuih ih lok ni, tiah na thuih o pongah,
But if you say, ‘The burden of the Lord!’ then because of this, thus says the Lord: Since you have spoken this word, ‘The burden of the Lord!’ though I sent to you telling you not to say: ‘The burden of the Lord,’
39 khenah, nangcae to kang pahnet ving han, nangcae hoi nam panawk khaeah ka paek ih vangpui to ka pahnawt moe, ka hmaa hoiah kang vah o ving han.
because of this, behold, I will take you away, like a burden, and I will forsake you, as well as the city that I gave to you and to your fathers, before my face.
40 Nangcae nuiah dungzan ahminsethaih to ka phaksak moe, pahnet thai ai, dungzan azathaih to kang phaksak han, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
And I will give you over to an everlasting reproach and an eternal disgrace, which shall never be wiped away into oblivion.”
