< Jeremiah 20 >
1 Jeremiah mah thuih ih hmuennawk to thaih naah, Angraeng ih im ukkung, Immer capa qaima Pashur mah,
Now Pashur the son of Immer the priest, who [was] also chief governor in the house of the LORD, heard that Jeremiah prophesied these things.
2 tahmaa Jeremiah to tabaeng moe, thlongthuk pacoengah Angraeng im taeng ih Benjamin khongkha aluek bangah a suek.
Then Pashur smote Jeremiah the prophet, and put him in the stocks that [were] in the high gate of Benjamin, which [was] by the house of the LORD.
3 Khawnbang ah loe Pashur mah Jeremiah to prawt. To naah Jeremiah mah, Angraeng mah nang hae Pashur, tiah kawk ai, Magor-missa-bib, tiah ang kawk, tiah a naa.
And it came to pass on the morrow, that Pashur brought forth Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then said Jeremiah unto him, The LORD hath not called thy name Pashur, but Magor-missabib.
4 Angraeng mah, Khenah, nangmah hoi nam puinawk boih khaeah zit kaom hmuen kang phaksak han; nihcae loe angmacae misa ih sumsen hoiah na hmaa ah dueh o tih; Judah kaminawk to Babylon siangpahrang ban ah ka paek boih han, anih mah nihcae to Babylon ah misong ah hoi o ueloe, sumsen hoiah hum o tih, tiah thuih.
For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will make thee a terror to thyself, and to all thy friends: and they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, and thine eyes shall behold [it: ] and I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall carry them captive into Babylon, and shall slay them with the sword.
5 Hae vangpui thacakhaih hoi hmuenmaenawk boih, atho kana hmuenmaenawk boih, Judah siangpahrang ih tacongnawk loe nihcae misa ban ah ka paek boih han, nihcae mah lomh o ueloe, Babylon ah phaw o boih tih.
Moreover I will deliver all the strength of this city, and all the labours thereof, and all the precious things thereof, and all the treasures of the kings of Judah will I give into the hand of their enemies, which shall spoil them, and take them, and carry them to Babylon.
6 Nang, Pashur hoi na imthung takoh kamianwk loe misong ah na laem o boih tih; na thuih ih amsawnlok tahngai kaminawk loe nam puinawk hoi nawnto Babylon ah na caeh o boih tih; to vangpui ah na dueh o ueloe, to ah aphum o tih, tiah a naa.
And thou, Pashur, and all that dwell in thine house shall go into captivity: and thou shalt come to Babylon, and there thou shalt die, and shalt be buried there, thou, and all thy friends, to whom thou hast prophesied lies.
O LORD, thou hast deceived me, and I was deceived: thou art stronger than I, and hast prevailed: I am in derision daily, every one mocketh me.
8 Lok ka thuih kruek, athii longhaih hoi amrohaih lok to ni ka thuih; to tiah Angraeng ih lok to ka thuih pongah, ni thokkruek kai kasae thuihaih hoi pahnui thuihaih to oh.
For since I spake, I cried out, I cried violence and spoil; because the word of the LORD was made a reproach unto me, and a derision, daily.
9 To pongah, kawbaktih atue naah maw loe anih kawng to ka thui mak ai, anih ih ahmin doeh ka thui mak ai boeh, tiah poekhaih ka tawnh. Toe anih ih lok loe ka huhnawk thungah kraeng khak ih hmai kamngaeh baktiah oh pongah, ka khaang thai ai moe, pauep doeh ka pauep thai ai.
Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But [his word] was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not [stay].
10 Kami ahminset paraihaih to ka thaih, ahmuen kruekah zit kaom hmuen to oh. Kaminawk mah kaicae khaeah, tamthang na thui oh, minawk khaeah ka thuih pae o patoeng han, tiah thuih o. Kam puinawk mah kai amthaekhaih to zing o, anih loe aling thai tih hmang, aling pazawk pacoengah, a nuiah lu la si, tiah a thuih o.
For I heard the defaming of many, fear on every side. Report, [say they], and we will report it. All my familiars watched for my halting, [saying], Peradventure he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.
11 Toe Angraeng loe kai khaeah thacak misatuh kami baktiah oh; to pongah kai pacaekthlaek kaminawk mah na pazawk o mak ai, nihcae loe azathaih tong o tih; nihcae loe khosak hoih o mak ai; pahnet thai ai azathaih to tong o tih.
But the LORD [is] with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed; for they shall not prosper: [their] everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten.
12 Katoeng kaminawk tanoekkung, kami poekhaih panoekkung, Aw misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng, nihcae nuiah lu na lakhaih to na hnusak ah, kai kawng hoi kasaeng hmuen loe nang khaeah kang tathlang boeh.
But, O LORD of hosts, that triest the righteous, [and] seest the reins and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for unto thee have I opened my cause.
13 Angraeng khaeah laa to sah oh, Angraeng to pakoeh oh; anih mah amtang kaminawk hinghaih to kahoih ai hmuen sah kaminawk ban thung hoiah loisak boeh.
Sing unto the LORD, praise ye the LORD: for he hath delivered the soul of the poor from the hand of evildoers.
14 Ka tapenhaih ani loe tangoenghaih ah om nasoe! Kam no mah ang tapenhaih ani loe tahamhoihhaih om hmah nasoe!
Cursed [be] the day wherein I was born: let not the day wherein my mother bare me be blessed.
15 Kam pa khaeah, nang loe caa nongpa na sak boeh; tiah kam pa palung anghoe han thui kami loe, tahamsethaih tong nasoe.
Cursed [be] the man who brought tidings to my father, saying, A man child is born unto thee; making him very glad.
16 To kami loe Angraeng mah tahmenhaih tawn ai ah, phraek ih vangpui baktiah om nasoe; akhawnbang ah qahhaih lok hoi athun naah misatuk pahruekhaih lok to thaih nasoe;
And let that man be as the cities which the LORD overthrew, and repented not: and let him hear the cry in the morning, and the shouting at noontide;
17 kam no loe kai ih taprong ah oh hanah, anih mah kam no ih zokthung ah na hum ai; kam no hoi nawnto a zok thungah oh poe hanah, na hum halat nahaeloe hoih han to mah!
Because he slew me not from the womb; or that my mother might have been my grave, and her womb [to be] always great [with me].
18 Tipongah khosak raihaih hoi palungsethaih to tong moe, azathaih hoi ka hinghaih boeng hanah zokthung hoiah ka tapen?
Wherefore came I forth out of the womb to see labour and sorrow, that my days should be consumed with shame?
