< Jeremiah 17 >
1 Judah zaehaih loe sum cacung, diamond thlung kamsum hoiah tarik pae boeh, na hmaicam takiinawk nuiah tarik ih baktiah nihcae palung thungah tarik pae boeh;
The sin of Judah is inscribed with an iron stylus, engraved with an adamant point, on their minds and on corners of their altars where they worship.
2 a caanawk mah doeh maesom nui ih kahing thingnawk taengah, angmacae ih hmaicamnawk to suek o moe, thing hoi sak o cop ih krangnawk to bok o.
Even their children remember to worship at their pagan altars and Asherah poles, set up by the green trees and on the high hills,
3 Aw kai ih mae, azawn ih hmuenmaenawk, na tawnh ih tacongnawk hoi na prae thungah zae sak haih hmuensangnawk boih to na misanawk ban ah ka paek han boeh.
on my mountain in the fields. I will hand over your wealth and all your valuable possessions as plunder, because of the sin committed on your pagan high places inside your country.
4 Kang paek ih qawk to na pathlong ving tih boeh; kadueh thai ai palung ka phuihaih hmai baktiah angqong hanah na sak pongah, na panoek ai ih prae ah na misanawk ih misong ah kang suek han.
You will have to give up the land I gave you. I will have your enemies make you their slaves in an unfamiliar country for you made my anger blaze, and it will burn forever.
5 Angraeng mah hae tiah thuih; Angraeng khae hoi poek amkhraeng ving moe, minawk oep lat kami, taksa thacakhaih oep kami loe kasae tongh kami ah oh.
This is what the Lord says: Cursed are those who put their confidence in human beings, who trust in human strength and give up relying on the Lord.
6 Anih loe long karoem ahmuen ih thing kazaek baktiah oh, khosak hoihaih hnu mak ai; anih loe kami om ai paloi long hoi praezaek ahmuen ah khosah tih.
They will be like a shrub alone in the desert that isn't even aware when good things happen. It just goes on living in the dry desert, in a salt flat that's uninhabited.
7 Toe Angraeng khaeah amha moe, anih oephaih tawn kami loe tahamhoih.
Blessed are those who trust in the Lord, who put their confidence in him.
8 Anih loe tui taengah thling moe, tuipui ah tangzun pakhrah, ni kana panoek ai, aqam kahing poe, khokha naah mawnhaih tawn ai, boeng ai ah kathai, thing baktiah om tih.
They are like trees planted by water, sending out roots toward the stream. They don't panic when it gets hot; their leaves are always green. They don't worry during a time of drought—they go on producing fruit.
9 Palung loe hmuennawk boih thungah aling thaih koek ah oh; poekhaih doeh set parai, mi mah maw anih to panoek thai tih?
The mind is more deceptive than anything else—it's incurably sick! Who can possibly understand it?
10 Kai, Angraeng loe kami boih a caeh o haih loklam baktih, a sak o ih hmuen baktih toengah paek hanah, poekhaih to ka khet moe, palungthin to ni ka caek.
But I, the Lord, see what people are thinking. I examine their minds, so I can reward them depending on their attitudes and the way they behave.
11 Toenghaih loklam hoi na ai ah hmuenmae pakrong pongah, angraeng kami loe acaa khaek thai mak ai, angmah ih tadui awh ai tavaa baktiah ni oh; a hinghaih saning ahap phak naah, minawk mah caeh o taak tih, anih amthuhaih loe hnukkhuem ah amtueng tih.
Like a partridge hatching eggs it didn't lay is someone who makes a fortune by cheating others. Their riches will fly away at midday, and in the end they'll look like a fool.
12 Tangsuek hoi kaom lensawk kasang angraeng tangkhang loe, kaicae ih hmuenciim ah oh.
Our Temple is a throne of glory, raised up high from the beginning.
13 Aw Angraeng, Israel caanawk oephaih, Nang pahnawt kaminawk boih loe azathaih tong o tih; ka thuih ih lok angqoi taak kaminawk loe hinghaih tuibap ah kaom, Angraeng to pahnawt o ving pongah, long ah ahmin tarik o tih.
Lord, you are Israel's hope, anyone who deserts you will be disgraced. Anyone who turns their back on you will vanish like names written in the dust, for they have abandoned the Lord, the source of living water.
14 Aw Angraeng, ka nathaih hae hoisak ah; to tih nahaeloe ngan ka tui tih boeh; na pahlong ah, to tih nahaeloe pahlong ah ka om tih, nang loe ka pakoehhaih ah na oh.
Please heal me, Lord, and I'll be healed; save me, and I'll be saved, for you are the one I praise.
15 Khenah, nihcae mah kai khaeah, Angraeng ih lok loe naa ah maw oh? Vaihi akoep lai nasoe, tiah ang naa o.
See how they keep on saying to me, “Where is the disaster that the Lord's predicted? Is it ever going to happen?”
16 Kai loe nang hnuk ah kabang zaehoikung ah oh hanah kang aek ai; kai loe tahamsethaih ani koeh ai kami ah ka oh, tiah na panoek; ka pakha hoi tacawt lok loe na hmaa ah oh.
But I haven't been in a hurry to give up being your shepherd. I haven't wanted the time of trouble to come. You know that whatever I said was said in front of you.
17 Kai han zit koi hmuen ah om hmah; kam rohaih niah nang loe ka buephaih ah na oh.
Please don't be the one who terrifies me! You are my protection in the time of trouble.
18 Kai pacaekthlaek kaminawk loe azathaih tong o nasoe, toe kai loe azathaih na tongsak hmah; nihcae to zithaih hoiah koisak ah, toe kai loe ziisak hmah; nihcae nuiah amrohaih ani to phasak ah loe, nihcae to alet hnetto amrohaih phasak ah.
Bring shame on my persecutors, but not on me. Terrify them, but not me, Let them experience the time of trouble, and smash them to pieces.
19 Angraeng mah kai khaeah hae tiah thuih; Caeh ah loe, Judah siangpahrangnawk akunhaih hoi tacawthaih khongkha, nawktanawk ih khongkha hoi Jerusalem ih khongkhanawk boih ah angdoe ah,
This is what the Lord told me: Go and stand at the main gate of the city, the one used by kings of Judah, and do the same at all the other gates of Jerusalem.
20 nihcae khaeah, Hae khongkha hoiah akun, Judah siangpahrangnawk, Judah kaminawk boih, Jerusalem ah kaom kaminawk boih, Angraeng ih lok hae tahngai oh;
Tell them, Listen to the Lord's message, kings of Judah, and all you people of Judah and Jerusalem who come in through these gates.
21 Angraeng mah hae tiah thuih; Sabbath niah kazit hmuen to phaw o hmah, Jerusalem khongkha thung hoiah kawbaktih hmuen doeh sin han ai ah, acoe oh:
This is what the Lord says: Pay attention, if you value your lives! Don't carry a load on the Sabbath day, and don't bring it through the gates of Jerusalem.
22 Sabbath niah imthung hoi kazit hmuen to phaw o hmah, tok doeh sah o hmah, nam panawk khaeah ka thuih pae ih lok baktih toengah, Sabbath ni to kaciim ah zaa oh.
Don't carry a load out of your houses, and don't do any work on the Sabbath day. Keep the Sabbath day holy, just as I ordered your forefathers.
23 Toe nihcae mah tahngai o ai, naa doeh patueng o ai; a thaih o han ai, thuitaekhaih lok talawk o han ai ah, tahnong to amtaak o sak.
However, they refused to listen or pay attention. Instead they were stubborn and refused to obey or accept instruction.
24 Toe Angraeng mah hae tiah thuih; ka lok hae na tahngaih o moe, Sabbath niah hae khongkhanawk hoiah kazit hmuen na sin o ai, toksah ai ah Sabbath ni to kaciim ah na zah o nahaeloe,
Listen carefully to me, says the Lord, and don't bring any load through the gates of this city on the Sabbath day, and keep the Sabbath day holy, and don't do any work on it.
25 David ih angraeng tangkhang pongah anghnu, siangpahrang hoi siangpahrang capanawk, hrang lakok hoi hrang angthueng kaminawk, angmacae hoi angmacae ukkung angraengnawk, Judah kaminawk hoi Jerusalem ah kaom kaminawk loe, hae khongkhanawk hoiah akun o tih, hae vangpui doeh dungzan khoek to cak poe tih.
Then kings and princes will enter through the gates of this city. They will sit on the throne of David. They will ride in chariots and on horses with their officials, accompanied by the people of Judah and those living in Jerusalem, and this city will be inhabited forever.
26 Judah avang, Jerusalem taeng ih avang, Benjamin prae ih avang, tangtling ah kaom avang, mae nui hoi aloih bang prae ah kaom kaminawk loe Angraeng ih im ah angzo o tih. Nihcae loe angbawnhaih congca, hmai angbawnhaih, moi angbawnhaih, hmuihoih angbawnhaih, pakoeh angbawnhaih to sin o tih.
People will come from the towns of Judah and everywhere around Jerusalem, from the land of Benjamin, and from the lowlands the hill country, and the Negev. They will bring burnt offerings and sacrifices, grain offerings and frankincense, and thank offerings to the Lord's Temple.
27 Toe Sabbath niah hmuen phawh moe, Jerusalem khongkha ah akun pacoengah, Sabbath ni to kaciim ah zah han oh; ka paek ih lok to tahngai ai nahaeloe, to ih khongkhanawk to hmai hoiah ka thlaek han, kadueh thai ai hmai mah Jerusalem angraeng ohhaih ahmuennawk to kang boih tih, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
But if you refuse to listen to me and keep the Sabbath day holy by not carrying a load while entering the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, then I will set its gates alight with a fire that can't be put out, and it will burn down Jerusalem's fortresses.
