< Jeremiah 16 >

1 To pacoengah Angraeng ih lok kai khaeah angzoh moe,
Then the LORD’s word came to me, saying,
2 hae ahmuen ah zu na la mak ai, caa nongpanawk hoi nongpatanawk doeh na sah mak ai.
“You shall not take a wife, neither shall you have sons or daughters, in this place.”
3 Hae ahmuen ah tapen capanawk hoi canunawk, nihcae tapen amnonawk hoi nihcae sah ampanawk kawng pongah, Angraeng mah hae tiah thuih,
For the LORD says concerning the sons and concerning the daughters who are born in this place, and concerning their mothers who bore them, and concerning their fathers who became their father in this land:
4 nihcae loe kasae duekhaih hoiah dueh o tih; nihcae to qah o haih mak ai, aphum doeh aphum o mak ai; nihcae loe long nuiah aek baktiah ni om o tih; sumsen hoi khokhahaih mah nihcae to paduek tih; nihcae qoknawk loe van ih tavaanawk hoi taw ih moi kasannawk han buh ah om tih.
“They will die grievous deaths. They will not be lamented, neither will they be buried. They will be as dung on the surface of the ground. They will be consumed by the sword and by famine. Their dead bodies will be food for the birds of the sky and for the animals of the earth.”
5 Angraeng mah hae tiah thuih; hae kaminawk khae hoiah ka monghaih, amlunghaih hoi palungnathaih to ka lak ving boeh pongah, dueh kami im ah akun hmah, qah haih hmah loe, palung doeh sae haih hmah, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
For the LORD says, “Don’t enter into the house of mourning. Don’t go to lament. Don’t bemoan them, for I have taken away my peace from this people,” says the LORD, “even loving kindness and tender mercies.
6 Kathoeng kalen tih ai nihcae loe hae prae ah dueh o boih tih; mi mah doeh nihcae to aphum mak ai, qah haih kami doeh om mak ai, nihcae pongah angmah hoi angmah ang aat kami om mak ai, sam aat kami doeh om mak ai.
Both great and small will die in this land. They will not be buried. Men won’t lament for them, cut themselves, or make themselves bald for them.
7 Kadueh qah haih kaminawk pathloep hanah, buh thaak pae kami mi doeh om o mak ai; ampa hoi amno to duek pongah palungsae kaminawk pathloep hanah tui boengloeng paek kami doeh om mak ai.
Men won’t break bread for them in mourning, to comfort them for the dead. Men won’t give them the cup of consolation to drink for their father or for their mother.
8 Nang loe poihsakhaih ahmuen ah caeh hmah, nihcae hoi doeh nawnto anghnu hmah, nawnto nae hmah loe, caa hmah.
“You shall not go into the house of feasting to sit with them, to eat and to drink.”
9 Misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng, Israel Sithaw mah, Khenah, hae ahmuen hoiah anghoehaih lok, oephaih lok, zu la thendoeng ih lok hoi sava sah tangla ih loknawk to nangcae dung hoi nangcae hmaa roe ah ka boengsak han, tiah thuih.
For the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel says: “Behold, I will cause to cease out of this place, before your eyes and in your days, the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride.
10 Hae kaminawk khaeah hae loknawk hae na thuih pae naah, nihcae mah, Tipongah Angraeng mah hae baktih kalen parai amrohaih kaicae nuiah phaksak loe? Tih hmuen maw ka sakpazae o? Ka Angraeng Sithaw nuiah tih zaehaih maw ka sak o? tiah thuih o naah,
It will happen, when you tell this people all these words, and they ask you, ‘Why has the LORD pronounced all this great evil against us?’ or ‘What is our iniquity?’ or ‘What is our sin that we have committed against the LORD our God?’
11 nihcae khaeah, nam panawk mah kai ang pahnawt o moe, kalah sithawnawk hnukah bang o, nihcae ih tok to a sak pae o moe, a bok o; kai ang pahnawt o moe, ka patuk ih lok to pazui o ai;
then you shall tell them, ‘Because your fathers have forsaken me,’ says the LORD, ‘and have walked after other gods, have served them, have worshipped them, have forsaken me, and have not kept my law.
12 nangcae loe nam panawk pongah kanung kue hmuen to na sak o; khenah, ka lok tahngai han ai ah, kasae angmah ih palung mah thuih ih lok baktih toengah caeh o boih.
You have done evil more than your fathers, for behold, you each walk after the stubbornness of his evil heart, so that you don’t listen to me.
13 To pongah hae prae thung hoiah nangcae hoi nam panawk mah panoek vai ai ih prae ah kang vah o ving han; to ahmuen ah khoving khodai kalah sithawnawk ih tok to na sah o tih; to ahmuen ah kang pahnawt o sut han, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
Therefore I will cast you out of this land into the land that you have not known, neither you nor your fathers. There you will serve other gods day and night, for I will show you no favour.’
14 To pongah, khenah, Israel kaminawk Izip prae hoi zaehoikung, Angraeng loe hing, tiah thuihhaih om mak ai boeh;
“Therefore behold, the days come,” says the LORD, “that it will no more be said, ‘As the LORD lives, who brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;’
15 toe kaminawk mah, Aluek bang prae thung hoi Israel caanawk loisakkung, Angraeng loe hing tangtang, tiah thui o tih; nihcae to ampanawk khaeah ka paek ih prae ah ka caeh haih let han, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
but, ‘As the LORD lives, who brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the countries where he had driven them.’ I will bring them again into their land that I gave to their fathers.
16 Khenah, pop parai tanga naeh kaminawk to ka patoeh han, nihcae mah tanga naeh baktiah naeh o tih; moi kah kop kaminawk to ka patoeh bae han, nihcae mah moi zoep baktiah mae, maesom hoi thlungkhaw thung boih ah pakrong o tih, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
“Behold, I will send for many fishermen,” says the LORD, “and they will fish them up. Afterward I will send for many hunters, and they will hunt them from every mountain, from every hill, and out of the clefts of the rocks.
17 Nihcae caehhaih loklam to ka khet boih, nihcae loe ka hmaa hoi anghawk o ving thai ai, nihcae sakpazaehaih doeh ka hnuk han ai ah anghawk thai mak ai.
For my eyes are on all their ways. They are not hidden from my face. Their iniquity isn’t concealed from my eyes.
18 Nihcae mah ka prae to amhnong o sak moe, qawk ah ka toep ih kaimah ih long to panuet thok kadueh qok hoi krang hoiah koi o sak pongah, a sakpazae o haih hoi a zae o haihnawk baktiah alet hnetto ka pathok han.
First I will recompense their iniquity and their sin double, because they have polluted my land with the carcasses of their detestable things, and have filled my inheritance with their abominations.”
19 Aw Angraeng, nang loe raihaih ka tong naah ka thacakhaih, ka buephaih kacak sipae ah na oh; long boenghaih ahmuen hoiah Gentel kaminawk nang khaeah angzo o ueloe, Kaicae ampanawk loe lok amlai, tidoeh avang ai, atho kaom ai hmuennawk ni qawk ah toep o tangtang, tiah thui o tih.
LORD, my strength, my stronghold, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the nations will come to you from the ends of the earth, and will say, “Our fathers have inherited nothing but lies, vanity and things in which there is no profit.
20 Kami mah Sithaw tang ah kaom ai, sithaw rumramnawk to angmah hanah sak maw?
Should a man make to himself gods which yet are no gods?”
21 To pongah, khenah, nihcae to ka panoeksak han, ka ban hoi ka thacakhaih to vaihi nihcae khaeah ka panoeksak han; to naah ni nihcae mah kai ih ahmin loe Angraeng ni, tiah panoek o tih.
“Therefore behold, I will cause them to know, this once I will cause them to know my hand and my might. Then they will know that my name is the LORD.”
