< Jakob 4 >
1 Misa angtukhaih hoi angzoehhaihnawk loe naa hoiah maw nangcae khaeah angzoh? Taksa koehhaih pongah misa kangtuh na takpum thung hoiah na ai maw, to hmuennawk to angzoh o?
Where do wars and fights among you come from? Do they not come from your passions that wage war among your members?
2 Na tawn o ai pongah, na khit o; tawnh han na koeh o pongah, kami na hum o, toe na tawn o thai ai: nang zoeh o moe, misa nang tuk o, na hni o ai pongah na tawn o ai.
You desire but do not have. You murder and are jealous but cannot obtain what you want. You fight and war. You do not have, because you do not ask.
3 Na hnik o, toe na hak o ai, na taksa koehhaih baktiah patoh hanah na hnik o pazae pongah, na hnu o ai.
You ask and do not receive because you ask wrongly, so that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.
4 Zu sava laep ah zaehaih sah nongpa hoi nongpatanawk! Long hoi ampui sah kami loe Sithaw ih misa ni, tito na panoek o ai maw? Mi kawbaktih doeh long hoi ampui sak koeh kami loe Sithaw ih misa ah ni oh.
Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
5 Cabu mah, Aicae thungah kaom Muithla loe uthaih palungthin tawnh, tiah thuih ih lok loe azom pui ah maw na poek o?
Or do you think that the Scripture speaks in vain? The spirit that dwells in us desires to the point of envy,
6 Toe Anih mah loe tahmenhaih to pop aep ah paek. To pongah, Amoek kaminawk loe Sithaw mah koeh ai, toe poeknaem kaminawk khaeah loe tahmenhaih to paek, tiah a thuih.
but God gives greater grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
7 To pongah Sithaw khaeah angpaek oh. Taqawk to pakaa oh, to tiah nahaeloe anih mah na cawn o taak tih.
Submit yourselves therefore to God, but resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8 Sithaw khaeah anghnai oh, to tiah nahaeloe anih doeh nangcae khaeah anghnai toeng tih. Nangcae kazae kaminawk, na ban to pasae oh; nangcae poekhaih angphae kaminawk, na poekhaih palungthin to ciim o sak ah.
Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
9 Poek amtang oh loe palungset hoiah qah oh: na pahnui o haih to palungsethaih ah angcoeng nasoe loe, nang hoe o haih to palungsethaih ah angcoeng nasoe.
Grieve, mourn, and weep. Turn your laughter into mourning, and your joy into gloom.
10 Angraeng mikhnuk ah poek pahnaem oh, to tiah nahaeloe anih mah na tapom o tahang tih.
Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.
11 Nawkamyanawk, minawk kasae thui o hmah. Angmah ih nawkamya to kasae thui moe, lokcaek kami loe, kaalok kasae thui kami hoi kaalok lokcaekkung ah oh: toe kaalok to kasae na thuih nahaeloe, kaalok pazui kami ah na om ai, kaalok lokcaekkung ah ni na oh.
Do not speak evil against one another, brothers. He who speaks evil against a brother and judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law. Now if yoʋ judge the law, yoʋ are not a doer of the law but a judge.
12 Kaalok paekkung maeto khue ni oh, anih loe pahlong thaih baktih toengah amrosak thaih: minawk lokcaek kami nang loe mi aa?
There is only one lawgiver—he who is able to save and destroy. But who are yoʋ to judge another?
13 Vaihniah maw, to tih ai boeh loe khawnbangah maw, to vangpui ah caeh o si, to vangpui ah saningto cam o si loe, amekhaih hnuk hanah, hmuenmae qanhaih hoi zawhhaih tok to sah o si, tiah thui kaminawk, tahngai oh:
Come now, you who say, “Today and tomorrow let us go to such and such a city, spend a year there, trade, and make a profit.”
14 khawnbang timaw om tih, tito na panoek o ai. Na hing o haih to kawbangah maw na poek o? Atue setta thung amtueng pacoengah anghma ving tamai hoiah ni anghmong.
You do not know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? It is a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.
15 Angraeng koehhaih baktiah om nahaeloe, a hing o tih, to naah hae baktih tok maw, to tih ai boeh loe to baktih tok maw sah o si, tiah na thuih o han oh.
Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, let us live and do this or that.”
16 Toe vaihi loe poeksanghaih hoiah nam oek o: to baktih amoekhaihnawk boih loe kasae hmuen ah ni oh.
But as it is, you boast in your arrogance; all such boasting is evil.
17 To pongah kahoih hmuen sak han panoek, toe sah ai kami loe zaehaih a tawnh.
So whoever knows the right thing to do and does not do it, for him it is sin.
