< Isaiah 59 >

1 Khenah, pahlong thaih han ai khoek to, Angraeng ih ban loe duem ai; thaih thai han ai khoek to naa doeh pang ai.
Truly, the Lord's hand has not become short, so that he is unable to give salvation; and his ear is not shut from hearing:
2 Toe na sakpazaehaih hmuennawk mah ni na Sithaw hoi ampraeksak, anih mah thaih han ai ah, na zaehaih mah anih ih mikhmai to khuk khoep boeh.
But your sins have come between you and your God, and by your evil doings his face has been veiled from you, so that he will give you no answer.
3 Nangcae ih ban loe athii akap moe, na banpazungnawk doeh sakpazaehaih oh boeh; na pahninawk mah amsawnlok to thuih o moe, na palainawk mah doeh kasae hmuen khue ni thuih o.
For your hands are unclean with blood, and your fingers with sin; your lips have said false things, and your tongue gives out deceit.
4 Mi mah doeh kamsoem lok to thui ai, loktang doeh thui o ai; azom pui lok ah amha o moe, amsawnlok to a thuih o; kasae poekhaih to zokpomh o moe, zae sakhaih to tapen o.
No one puts forward an upright cause, or gives a true decision: their hope is in deceit, and their words are false; they are with child with sin, and give birth to evil.
5 Nihcae loe pahui sae tadui to awh o moe, bongpaha tayae to zaeng o; nihcae ih tadui caa kaminawk loe duek o, tadui koih naah pahui caanawk to tacawt o.
They give birth to snake's eggs, and make spider's threads: whoever takes their eggs for food comes to his death, and the egg which is crushed becomes a poison-snake.
6 Nihcae mah bongpaha tayae to kahni ah sah o thai ai; a sak o ih hmuen hoiah doeh padap o thai ai; a sak o ih hmuennawk loe sethaih ah oh pongah, nihcae ban ah athii longhaih to oh.
Their twisted threads will not make clothing, and their works will give them nothing for covering themselves: their works are works of sin, and violent acts are in their hands.
7 Nihcae loe kasae sakhaih bangah khok takan rang o moe, tidoeh panoek ai kami athii palong hanah angtawt rang o; kasae poekhaih to a tawnh o, nihcae ih loklam ah loe amrohaih hoi anghmathaih to oh.
Their feet go quickly to evil, and they take delight in the death of the upright; their thoughts are thoughts of sin; wasting and destruction are in their ways.
8 Monghaih loklam to panoek o ai; a caehhaih loklam ah toenghaih om ai; a caeh o haih loklam to angkawn o sak; to loklam ah caeh kaminawk loe monghaih to panoek o mak ai.
They have no knowledge of the way of peace, and there is no sense of what is right in their behaviour: they have made for themselves ways which are not straight; whoever goes in them has no knowledge of peace.
9 To pongah toenghaih loe aicae khae hoi angthla boeh, toenghaih mah aicae hae kae ai boeh; aanghaih a zing o, toe khenah vinghaih to oh lat; ni aengh to a pakrong o, toe tahmuep thungah ni a caeh o lat.
For this cause our right is far from us, and righteousness does not overtake us: we are looking for light, but there is only the dark; for the shining of the sun, but our way is in the night.
10 Aicae loe mikmaeng baktiah tapang to pathoep moe, mik tawn ai kami baktiah loklam to a pathoep o; athun naah khoving baktiah amthaek o; thacak kaminawk salakah kadueh kaminawk baktiah a oh o.
We go on our way, like blind men feeling for the wall, even like those who have no eyes: we are running against things in daylight as if it was evening; our place is in the dark like dead men.
11 Taqomnawk baktiah a hangh o moe; pahuu baktiah a oi o; toenghaih to a pakrong o, toe a hnu o ai; pahlonghaih to a pakrong o, toe pahlonghaih loe aicae khae hoi angthla aep.
We make noises of grief, like bears, and sad sounds like doves: we are looking for our right, but it is not there; for salvation, but it is far from us.
12 Kaicae sakpazaehaih loe na hmaa ah paroeai pop moe, kaimacae zaehaih mah zaehaih ang net; sakpazaehaih hoi ka oh o pongah, ka sakpazaehaihnawk to ka panoek o.
For our evil doings are increased before you, and our sins give witness against us: for our evil doings are with us, and we have knowledge of our sins:
13 Zae sakhaih hoi amsawnlok thuihaih mah Angraeng to misa ah ohsak, aimaecae ih Sithaw to angqoi o taak ving boeh; pacaekthlaekhaih lok, ang aekhaih lok, alinghaih hoi amsawnlok to palung thung hoiah a thuih o boeh.
We have gone against the Lord, and been false to him, turning away from our God, our words have been uncontrolled, and in our hearts are thoughts of deceit.
14 Katoeng ah lokcaekhaih loe hnukbang ah angnawn ving boeh moe, toenghaih doeh kangthla ah angdoet ving boeh; loktang loe loklam ah amtim sut, toenghaih loe athung ah akun thai ai.
And the right is turned back, and righteousness is far away: for good faith is not to be seen in the public places, and upright behaviour may not come into the town.
15 Ue, loktang loe anghmat ving boeh; hmuensae caehtaak kami to lomh o; lomhaih to Angraeng mah hnuk naah, toenghaih om ai boeh pongah anghoe ai.
Yes, faith is gone; and he whose heart is turned from evil comes into the power of the cruel: and the Lord saw it, and he was angry that there was no one to take up their cause.
16 Anih mah khet naah mi doeh hnu ai, hnikung mi doeh om ai pongah, palungboeng sut; to pongah a ban mah angmah hanah pahlonghaih to sak; a toenghaih mah anih to kacakah angdoetsak.
And he saw that there was no man, and was surprised that there was no one to take up their cause: so his arm gave salvation, and he made righteousness his support.
17 Toenghaih to saoek pakaahaih kahni baktiah angkhuk moe, pahlonghaih sumlumuek to angmuek; lu lakhaih kahni hoiah amthoep moe, poek thacakhaih kahni to angkhuk.
Yes, he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and salvation as a head-dress; and he put on punishment as clothing, and wrath as a robe.
18 A sak o ih hmuennawk baktih toengah, anih mah sah pathok let tih; a misanawk khaeah palungphuihaih baktih toengah, a misanawk to lu la tih; tuipui mah takui ih prae thungah kaom kaminawk doeh a sak o ih hmuennawk baktih toengah, anih mah sah pathok let tih.
He will give them the right reward of their doings, wrath to his attackers, punishment to his haters, and even on the sea-lands he will send punishment.
19 Niduem bang ih kaminawk mah Angraeng ih ahmin to zii o ueloe, ni angyae bang ih kaminawk mah a lensawkhaih to khingza o tih. Kalen tuiphu baktiah misa angzoh naah, Angraeng ih Muithla mah pakaa tih.
So they will see the name of the Lord from the west, and his glory from the east: for he will come like a rushing stream, forced on by a wind of the Lord.
20 Krangkung loe dawnpakhuem Jakob imthung ih kaminawk khae hoiah Zion mae ah angzo tih, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
And as a saviour he will come to Zion, turning away sin from Jacob, says the Lord.
21 Nihcae hoi ka sak ih lokmaihaih loe nangcae nuiah kaom kai ih Muithla, nangcae pakha thungah ka suek ih ka loknawk loe vaihi hoi kamtong dungzan khoek to, nangcae ih pakha, na caanawk ih pakha hoi na caanawk patoeng ih pakha thung hoiah anghmaa mak ai, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
And as for me, this is my agreement with them, says the Lord: my spirit which is on you, and my words which I have put in your mouth, will not go away from your mouth, or from the mouth of your seed, or from the mouth of your seed's seed, says the Lord, from now and for ever.
