< Isaiah 5 >

1 Ka palung ih kami hanah, anih ih misur takha to laa ah ka sak pae han. Ka palung ih kami loe long kahoih maesom nuiah misur takha to a tawnh;
Let me make a song about my loved one, a song of love for his vine-garden. My loved one had a vine-garden on a fertile hill:
2 anih loe long to takaeh moe, thlungnawk to takhoe boih pacoengah, a koeh ih misurkung to a thling, athung ah toephaih imsang to sak moe, misurtui pasawhhaih doeh a sak; anih mah kahoih misurthaih athai tih tiah oephaih a tawnh, toe kahoih ai misurthaih to athaih pae lat.
And after working the earth of it with a spade, he took away its stones, and put in it a very special vine; and he put up a watchtower in the middle of it, hollowing out in the rock a place for the grape-crushing; and he was hoping that it would give the best grapes, but it gave common grapes.
3 Vaihiah, Aw Jerusalem kaminawk hoi Judah kaminawk, nangcae loe kai hoi misur takha salakah lokcaekkung ah om oh.
And now, you people of Jerusalem and you men of Judah, be the judges between me and my vine-garden.
4 Kaih ih misur takha hanah timaw ka sah thai tih boeh? Ka hoih misurthaih athai tih mue, tiah oephaih ka tawnh, toe kahoih ai misurthaih to athaih lat.
Is there anything which might have been done for my vine-garden which I have not done? why then, when I was hoping for the best grapes did it give me common grapes?
5 Kaimah ih misur takha hae kawbangmaw ka sak han, tiah vaihi kang thuih o noek han; pakaa ih sipae to ka phraek moe, minawk kalah ka caaksak han; tapang to ka phraek moe, minawk kalah ka cawhsak han.
And now, this is what I will do to my vine-garden: I will take away the circle of thorns round it, and it will be burned up; its wall will be broken down and the beasts of the field will go through it;
6 Misur takha to ka pahnong sut han; takha loe mi mah doeh pathoep mak ai, takae doeh takae o mak ai ueloe, congca soekhring ni amprawk lat tih boeh; a nuiah kho angzoh han ai ah tamai to lok ka paek han.
And I will make it waste; its branches will not be touched with the knife, or the earth worked with the spade; but blackberries and thorns will come up in it: and I will give orders to the clouds not to send rain on it.
7 Israel imthung takoh loe misatuh kaminawk Angraeng ih misur takha ah oh, Judah kaminawk loe palung han koi kaom misurkung ah oh o; anih loe katoeng lokcaekhaih to pakrong e, pacaekthlaekhaih to a tongh lat; toenghaih to pakrong e, khenah, qahhaih to a hnuk lat.
For the vine-garden of the Lord of armies is the people of Israel, and the men of Judah are the plant of his delight: and he was looking for upright judging, and there was blood; for righteousness, and there was a cry for help.
8 Nihcae loe long ah angmacae bueng oh o sut moe, ohhaih ahmuen kakong om ai boeh pongah, im maeto pacoeng maeto, lawk maeto pacoeng maeto kangbet ah khosah kaminawk loe khosak bing o!
Cursed are those who are joining house to house, and putting field to field, till there is no more living-space for any but themselves in all the land!
9 Lensawk kahoih parai impuinawk loe kami om ai angqai krangah om o tih boeh, tiah misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng mah, ka naa taengah ang thuih boeh.
The Lord of armies has said to me secretly, Truly, numbers of great and fair houses will be waste, with no one living in them.
10 Ue, lawk bung hato kaom misur takha ahmuen ah, misur tanghang abom bath maeto khue athai ueloe, homer maeto ahmuen ah aanmu patit naah, ephah maeto khue ni hak tih.
For ten fields of vines will only give one measure of wine, and a great amount of seed will only give a small measure of grain.
11 Mu naek hanah khawnthaw ah angthawk, misurtui paquih hanah, khoving khoek to mu nae kaminawk loe khosak bing!
Cursed are those who get up early in the morning to give themselves up to strong drink; who keep on drinking far into the night till they are heated with wine!
12 Nihcae ih poihkung ah loe kalen pui katoeng, aqui aah koi katoeng, satuem, tamoi hoi misurtuinawk to oh; toe Angraeng mah sak ih hmuen to tiah doeh sah o ai, a ban hoiah sak ih hmuen doeh dawncang pae o ai.
And corded instruments and wind-instruments and wine are in their feasts: but they give no thought to the work of the Lord, and they are not interested in what his hands are doing.
13 Kai ih kaminawk loe panoekhaih tamsi o pongah, misong ah laemh o; nihcae ih angraengnawk loe zok kamthlam ah duek o moe, pop parai kaminawk doeh tui anghaeh loiah palai zaek o boih.
For this cause my people are taken away as prisoners into strange countries for need of knowledge: and their rulers are wasted for need of food, and their loud-voiced feasters are dry for need of water.
14 To pongah taprong loe amoeh moe, boep thai ai ah pakha to aangh; anih ih angraengnawk, pop parai kaminawk, lensawkhaih hoi khosak nawmhaih acaeng kaminawk loe to ah anghum o tathuk tih. (Sheol h7585)
For this cause the underworld has made wide its throat, opening its mouth without limit: and her glory, and the noise of her masses, and her loud-voiced feasters, will go down into it. (Sheol h7585)
15 Kahoih ai kami doeh atlim ah pakhrah tathuk ueloe, thacak kami doeh pahnaem tih; amoek kaminawk ih mik doeh atlim ah pakhrah pae tih.
And the poor man's head is bent, and the great man goes down on his face, and the eyes of pride are put to shame:
16 Toe misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng loe toenghaih hoiah pakoehhaih to om tih, Ciimcai Sithaw loe a toenghaih rang hoiah ciimcaisak tih.
But the Lord of armies is lifted up as judge, and the Holy God is seen to be holy in righteousness.
17 Tuucaanawk loe angmacae rawkcak caakhaih ahmuen ah paqai o tih, angraeng ih ahmuennawk loe angvinnawk mah caa o tih.
Then the lambs will get food as in their grass-lands, and the fat cattle will be feasting in the waste places.
18 Atho kaom ai alinghaih hoi sakpazaehaih to qui hoiah azuk kaminawk loe khosak bing!
Cursed are those who make use of ox-cords for pulling the evil thing, and the bands of a young ox for their sin!
19 Nihcae mah Sithaw toksakhaih ka hnuk o thai hanah, anih loe karangah angzo nasoe, a tok to karangah sah lai nasoe; ka panoek o thai hanah, Ciimcai Israel Sithaw to anghnai nasoe loe, angzo lai nasoe, tiah thuih o.
Who say, Let him do his work quickly, let him make it sudden, so that we may see it: let the design of the Holy One of Israel come near, so that it may be clear to us.
20 Hmuen kasae to kahoih hmuen, tiah thui kami, kahoih hmuen to kasae hmuen ah thui kami, vinghaih to aanghaih ah, aanghaih to vinghaih ah poek kami, kakhaa to kaluep ah, kaluep to kakhaa ah poek kaminawk loe khosak bing!
Cursed are those who give the name of good to evil, and of evil to what is good: who make light dark, and dark light: who make bitter sweet, and sweet bitter!
21 Angmacae mik ah palungha kami, angmacae mik ah khopoek thaih, tiah poekhaih tawn kaminawk loe khosak bing!
Cursed are those who seem wise to themselves, and who take pride in their knowledge!
22 Misurtui amoeh, mu abaeh moe, naek koeh hmoek kaminawk loe khosak bing!
Cursed are those who are strong to take wine, and great in making mixed drinks!
23 To baktih kaminawk loe bokhaih hmuen to lak moe, katoeng ai kaminawk to danpaek ai ah loih o sak ving; katoeng kaminawk to toenghaih hoiah lokcaek han koeh o ai.
Who for a reward give support to the cause of the sinner, and who take away the righteousness of the upright from him.
24 To pongah hmai mah caphaeh to kangh moe, hmaipalai mah qam kazaek to kangh baktih toengah, nihcae ih tangzuun to qong ueloe, apawk doeh maiphu baktiah van ah anghaeh tahang boih tih; nihcae loe Angraeng Sithaw ih kaalok to vah o ving moe, Ciimcai Israel kami ih lok to aek o pongah to tiah oh o.
For this cause, as the waste of the grain is burned up by tongues of fire, and as the dry grass goes down before the flame, so their root will be like the dry stems of grain, and their flower will go up in dust: because they have gone against the law of the Lord of armies, and have given no honour to the word of the Holy One of Israel.
25 To pongah angmah ih kaminawk nuiah Angraeng palungphui; a ban payangh moe, nihcae to boh, to pongah maesomnawk loe anghuen o moe, kami qoknawk doeh loklam um li ah aek baktiah oh o. To tiah oh pacoengah doeh, anih palungphuihaih dii ai vop, a ban to phok tahang toengtoeng vop.
For this reason the wrath of the Lord has been burning against his people, and his hand has been stretched out against them in punishment, and the hills were shaking, and their dead bodies were like waste in the open places of the town.
26 Angthla parai ahmuen ah khosah kaminawk hanah kahni to payang pae o moe, long boenghaih ahmuen ah kaom kaminawk hanah ban uengh o thuih; khenah, nihcae loe karangah angzo o tih;
And he will let a flag be lifted up as a sign to a far-off nation, whistling to them from the ends of the earth: and they will come quickly and suddenly.
27 nihcae thungah angpho moe, amthaek kami mi doeh om mak ai, mi doeh iih angam o mak ai, iip doeh iip o mak ai; kazii angzaenghaih doeh khram o mak ai, khokpanai qui doeh apet mak ai;
There is no weariness among them, and no man is feeble-footed: they come without resting or sleeping, and the cord of their shoes is not broken.
28 nihcae ih palaa loe noet parai, nihcae loe kalii to anueng o coek boeh; nihcae ih hrang khoknawk loe thlung baktiah amtaak, hrang lakoknawk doeh takhi kamhae baktiah oh.
Their arrows are sharp, and every bow is bent: the feet of their horses are like rock, and their wheels are like a rushing storm.
29 Nihcae hanghaih lok loe kaipui baktiah oh moe, tha kaom li kaipui baktiah a hangh o; ue, hanghaih hoiah moi to kaek o ueloe, ruet o tih, mi mah doeh lomh pae thai mak ai.
The sound of their armies will be like the voice of a lion, and their war-cry like the noise of young lions: with loud cries they will come down on their food and will take it away safely, and there will be no one to take it out of their hands.
30 To na niah nihcae loe tuipui ih tuiphu kangthawk lok baktiah hang o tih; kami mah to prae to khet naah, khoving hoi palungsethaih khue to hnu tih; vannawk aanghaih loe tamai mah khuk khoep tih boeh.
And his voice will be loud over him in that day like the sounding of the sea: and if a man's eyes are turned to the earth, it is all dark and full of trouble; and the light is made dark by thick clouds.
