< Isaiah 42 >

1 Khenah ka caksak ih ka tamna; ka qoih ih kami, palung koek ih loe anih ni; a nuiah ka Muithla to ka suek, anih mah Gentel kaminawk hanah toenghaih to sin pae tih.
“Here is My Servant, whom I uphold, My Chosen One, in whom My soul delights. I will put My Spirit on Him, and He will bring justice to the nations.
2 Anih loe loklam ah hang mak ai, lok to aek mak ai, mi mah doeh anih ih lok to thai mak ai.
He will not cry out or raise His voice, nor make His voice heard in the streets.
3 Ahmaa kaom akung to anih mah khaek mak ai, kadueh tom hmai doeh paduek mak ai; anih mah oephaih hoi toenghaih to sin tih.
A bruised reed He will not break and a smoldering wick He will not extinguish; He will faithfully bring forth justice.
4 Anih loe long ah toenghaih om ai karoek to, palungboeng mak ai, tha doeh sae mak ai; tui mah takui ih prae kaminawk mah anih patukhaih to zing o tih.
He will not grow weak or discouraged before He has established justice on the earth. In His law the islands will put their hope.”
5 Vannawk sak pacoengah, payuengkung; long thungah kaom hmuennawk boih pungsakkung, long ah kaom kaminawk han anghahaih takhi paekkung, long cawh kaminawk hanah hinghaih takhi paekkung, Angraeng Sithaw mah hae tiah thuih;
This is what God the LORD says— He who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spread out the earth and its offspring, who gives breath to the people on it and life to those who walk in it:
6 Kai Angraeng mah toenghaih hoiah kang kawk, na ban to kang patawnh pae moe, kang toep han; kaminawk lokmaihaih hoi Gentelnawk aanghaih ah kang suek han;
“I, the LORD, have called you for a righteous purpose, and I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and appoint you to be a covenant for the people and a light to the nations,
7 mikmaengnawk ih mik to amtuengsak moe, thongkrah kaminawk loisak pacoengah, thongkrakhaih im kaving thungah anghnu kaminawk prawt kami ah kang suek han.
to open the eyes of the blind, to bring prisoners out of the dungeon and those sitting in darkness out from the prison house.
8 Kai loe Angraeng ah ka oh; ka hmin loe to tiah oh; ka lensawkhaih to minawk kalah khaeah ka paek mak ai, kai pakoehhaih doeh sak cop ih krangnawk khaeah ka paek mak ai.
I am the LORD; that is My name! I will not yield My glory to another or My praise to idols.
9 Khenah, hmaloe ah ka thuih ih hmuennawk loe oh tangtang boeh, vaihi loe kangtha hmuennawk ni ka thuih; to hmuennawk om ai naah kang thuih coek boeh, tiah a naa.
Behold, the former things have happened, and now I declare new things. Before they spring forth I proclaim them to you.”
10 Tuipui thung caeh kaminawk hoi tuipui thungah kaom hmuennawk boih, tuipui mah takui ih prae kaminawk hoi a thungah kaom kaminawk boih, Angraeng khaeah laa kangtha to sah oh loe long boenghaih hoiah anih saphawhaih laa to sah oh.
Sing to the LORD a new song— His praise from the ends of the earth— you who go down to the sea, and all that is in it, you islands, and all who dwell in them.
11 Praezaeknawk hoi to ah kaom vangpuinawk loe tha hoiah hang o nasoe, Kedar ih kaminawk doeh anghoe o nasoe; lungsong pongah kaom kaminawk mah anghoehaih laa to sah o nasoe loe, mae nui hoiah hang o nasoe.
Let the desert and its cities raise their voices; let the villages of Kedar cry aloud. Let the people of Sela sing for joy; let them cry out from the mountaintops.
12 Angraeng khaeah lensawkhaih paek o nasoe, tuipui thung ih praenawk khaeah anih saphawhaih laa to panoek o sak nasoe.
Let them give glory to the LORD and declare His praise in the islands.
13 Angraeng loe thacak kami baktiah caeh ueloe, misatuh kami baktiah minawk palungthin to pahruek tih; hanghaih hoi misatukhaih lok to thui tih, ue, hang ueloe, a misanawk to pazawk tih.
The LORD goes forth like a mighty one; He stirs up His zeal like a warrior. He shouts; yes, He roars in triumph over His enemies:
14 Kai loe atue kasawk ah kam uep; lok apae ai ah ka oh duem, pauephaih hoiah kho ka sak; toe vaihi loe nongpata caa oh natuem ih kana aham baktih toengah, ka hangh han; vaito ah kam rosak phaeng han.
“I have kept silent from ages past; I have remained quiet and restrained. But now I will groan like a woman in labor; I will at once gasp and pant.
15 Maenawk hoi maesomnawk to ka pongsak sut moe, phrohnawk doeh ka zaeksak boih han; vapui tui to ka kangsak moe, tuilinawk doeh ka kangsak boih han.
I will lay waste the mountains and hills and dry up all their vegetation. I will turn the rivers into dry land and drain the marshes.
16 Nihcae mah panoek o vai ai ih loklam hoiah mikmaengnawk to ka zaeh han; nihcae mah panoek o vai ai ih loklam ah ka caeh haih han; nihcae hmaa ih vinghaih to aanghaih ah kang coengsak moe, kangkawn loklamnawk to ka patoengh han. Nihcae khaeah hae hmuennawk hae ka sak pae han, nihcae to ka pahnawt sut mak ai.
I will lead the blind by a way they did not know; I will guide them on unfamiliar paths. I will turn darkness into light before them and rough places into level ground. These things I will do for them, and I will not forsake them.
17 Sak cop ih krang oep kaminawk, krangnawk khaeah, Nangcae loe kaicae ih sithaw ah na oh o, tiah thui kaminawk loe azathaih hoiah hnukbang ah amlaem o let tih.
But those who trust in idols and say to molten images, ‘You are our gods!’ will be turned back in utter shame.
18 Nangcae naapang kaminawk, tahngai oh; nangcae mikmaengnawk, na hnuk o thai hanah, khen oh.
Listen, you deaf ones; look, you blind ones, that you may see!
19 Mi maw ka tamna baktiah mik kamaeng, to tih ai boeh loe mi maw ka patoeh ih laicaeh baktiah naa kapang? Kai khaeah angpaek kami baktih, Angraeng ih tamna baktiah mi maw mikmaeng ah kaom?
Who is blind but My servant, or deaf like the messenger I am sending? Who is blind like My covenant partner, or blind like the servant of the LORD?
20 Hmuen kating ai na hnuk o boeh, toe tidoeh na poek o ai; naa doeh akhaw to mah na thaih o ai.
Though seeing many things, you do not keep watch. Though your ears are open, you do not hear.”
21 Angraeng loe a toenghaih pongah ni anghoe, a patuk ih lok to pakoeh moe, lensawkhaih hoiah koisak.
The LORD was pleased, for the sake of His righteousness, to magnify His law and make it glorious.
22 Hae acaeng loe amrohaih hoi lomhaih tongh kami ah oh; nihcae loe tangqom thungah krak o moe, thongim thungah anghawk o boih; amrohaih tongh o naah, mi mah doeh akrang ai; hmuenmae lomh pae o naah, mi mah doeh paek o let ah, tiah thui pae o ai.
But this is a people plundered and looted, all trapped in caves or imprisoned in dungeons. They have become plunder with no one to rescue them, and loot with no one to say, “Send them back!”
23 Tipongah hae kaminawk loe lok tahngai o ai loe? Angzo han koi atue to panoek moe, pakuem kami oh o maw?
Who among you will pay attention to this? Who will listen and obey hereafter?
24 Mi mah maw lomh hanah Jacob to paek moe, mingcahnawk ban ah Israel to paek? A zae o pongah to tiah paekkung loe Angraeng angmah na ai maw? Nihcae loe Angraeng ih loklam to pazui o ai moe, anih mah patuk ih lok doeh tahngai pae o ai.
Who gave Jacob up for spoil, and Israel to the plunderers? Was it not the LORD, against whom we have sinned? They were unwilling to walk in His ways, and they would not obey His law.
25 To pongah nihcae nuiah hmai baktih kamngaeh palungphuihaih to kraih moe, kanung parai misatukhaih to phaksak; nihcae loe hmai mah takui khoep, toe panoek o ai toengtoeng vop; hmaipalai mah kangh boeh, toe tidoeh sah ai ah oh o toengtoeng vop.
So He poured out on them His furious anger and the fierceness of battle. It enveloped them in flames, but they did not understand; it consumed them, but they did not take it to heart.
