< Isaiah 3 >

1 Angraeng, Khenah, misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng mah, abomhaih hmuenmaenawk, caaknaeknawk hoi tuinawk boih to Jerusalem, Judah hoiah lak pae ving boeh.
For the Lord, the Lord of armies, is about to take away from Jerusalem and from Judah all their support; their store of bread and of water;
2 Thacak kami, misatuh kop kami, lokcaek kami hoi tahmaa, khopoek thaih kami, kacoehtanawk,
The strong man and the man of war; the judge and the prophet; the man who has knowledge of secret arts, and the man who is wise because of his years;
3 kami qui pangato ukkung misatuh angraeng hoi khingya han koi kami, poekhaih paekkung, bantok sah kop kami, lokthuih kop kaminawk doeh la ving tih boeh.
The captain of fifty, and the man of high position, and the wise guide, and the wonder-worker, and he who makes use of secret powers.
4 Nawktanawk to nihcae ukkung angraeng ah ka sak han, nawktanawk mah nihcae to uk o tih.
And I will make children their chiefs, and foolish ones will have rule over them.
5 Kaminawk loe maeto hoi maeto, imtaeng kami maeto hoi maeto, pacaekthlaek o tih; nawkta mah mitong to zoeh ueloe, tidoeh panoek ai kami mah khingya paek koi kami to patoek tih.
And the people will be crushed, every one by his neighbour; the young will be full of pride against the old, and those of low position will be lifted up against the noble.
6 Kami maeto mah ampa im ah angmah ih amnawk to naeh ueloe, anih khaeah, Nang loe khukbuen na tawnh, to pongah kaicae ukkung ah om ah; hae ih kamro hmuennawk doeh khenzawn ah, tiah naa o tih;
When one man puts his hand on another in his father's house, and says, You have clothing, be our ruler and be responsible for us in our sad condition:
7 toe to na niah loe anih mah, Kai loe kahoih hmuen sahkung ah ka om thai mak ai; kai ih im ah loe caeknaek om ai, khukbuen doeh om ai; kami ukkung ah na suem hmah, tiah naa tih.
Then he will say with an oath, I will not be a helper, for in my house there is no bread or clothing: I will not let you make me a ruler of the people.
8 Jerusalem loe amtimh moe, Judah doeh amtimh boeh; a thuih o ih loknawk hoi a sak o ih hmuennawk mah Angraeng ih lok to aek o moe, anih ih lensawk mik to tiah doeh sah pae o ai.
For Jerusalem has become feeble, and destruction has come on Judah, because their words and their acts are against the Lord, moving the eyes of his glory to wrath.
9 A sak o ih kahoih ai hmuen to angmacae mikhmai ah amtuengsak; a sak o ih zaehaih to angphat thai ai, Sodom baktiah amtuengsak. Nihcae hinghaih loe khosak bing! Angmacae mah ni angmacae nuiah raihaih to phak o sak.
Their respect for a man's position is a witness against them; and their sin is open to the view of all; like that of Sodom, it is not covered. A curse on their soul! for the measure of their sin is full.
10 Katoeng kami loe khosak hoih, tiah thui oh; nihcae loe toksakhaih atho to caa o tih.
Happy is the upright man! for he will have joy of the fruit of his ways.
11 Kahoih ai kaminawk khosak na bing o! Amrohaih loe nihcae nuiah om tih! A ban mah sak ih zaehaih atho loe pathok let tih.
Unhappy is the sinner! for the reward of his evil doings will come on him.
12 Nawktanawk mah kai ih kaminawk pacaekthlaek o, nongpatanawk mah nihcae to uk. Aw kai ih kaminawk, nangcae zaehoikungnawk mah loklam amkhraengsak moe, na caeh o haih loklam to amrosak boeh.
As for my people, their ruler is acting like a child, and those who have authority over them are women. O my people, your guides are the cause of your wandering, turning your footsteps out of the right way.
13 Angraeng loe lokcaek hanah angdoet, anih loe kaminawk lokcaek hanah angdoet tahang.
The Lord is ready to take up his cause against his people, and is about to come forward as their judge.
14 Angraeng loe angmah ih kacoehtanawk, angraengnawk hoi nawnto lokcaekhaih thungah akun tih; kai ih misur takha loe nihcae mah caak o boih boeh; amtang kaminawk ih hmuenmae to a lomh pae o moe, angmacae im ah suek o.
The Lord comes to be the judge of their responsible men and of their rulers: it is you who have made waste the vine-garden, and in your houses is the property of the poor which you have taken by force.
15 Tipongah kai ih kaminawk to na pacaekthlaek o moe, amtang kaminawk ih mikhmai to na tabaeng o loe? tiah misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng Sithaw mah thuih.
By what right are you crushing my people, and putting a bitter yoke on the necks of the poor? This is the word of the Lord, the Lord of armies.
16 Angraeng mah, Zion nongpatanawk loe amoek o phi, nihcae loe tahnong padoengh tahang hoiah lamcaeh o moe, amoekhaih mik hoiah kami to khet o, atuen tacawt hanah khok tangkan tamcaek ah takanh o, khok amthoephaih hmuen loe lamcaeh naah tuenh parai.
Again, the Lord has said, Because the daughters of Zion are full of pride, and go with outstretched necks and wandering eyes, with their foot-chains sounding when they go:
17 To pongah Angraeng mah Zion canunawk ih lu to ahmaa caasak tih, Angraeng mah nihcae ih khukbuen to khring pae ueloe, azathaih tongsak tih.
The Lord will send disease on the heads of the daughters of Zion, and the Lord will let their secret parts be seen.
18 To na niah loe Angraeng mah atuenh katuen nihcae amthoephaih hmuennawk to la pae ving tih; khok amthoephaih hmuennawk, lumueknawk, khrah baktiah sak ih amthoephaih hmuennawk,
In that day the Lord will take away the glory of their foot-rings, and their sun-jewels, and their moon-ornaments,
19 a oih koi hmuennawk, ban lakoknawk, mikhmai khukhaihnawk,
The ear-rings, and the chains, and the delicate clothing,
20 lu khukhaih hmuennawk, khok amthoephaih hmuennawk, lu zaenghaih hmuennawk, hmuihoih tui tabunawk, amthoephaih hmuennawk, naa tangkraengnawk,
The head-bands, and the arm-chains, and the worked bands, and the perfume-boxes, and the jewels with secret powers,
21 bantueknawk hoi hnah ah abuen koi amthoephaih hmuennawk,
The rings, and the nose-jewels,
22 angkraihaih kahninawk, khukbuennawk, anui ah angkhuk ih laihawnawk, pasahnawk,
The feast-day dresses, and the robes, and the wide skirts, and the handbags,
23 hmaidannawk, puu kahninawk, lu zaenghaih palanawk hoi kahninawk to la pae ving tih.
The looking-glasses, and the fair linen, and the high head-dresses, and the veils.
24 Hmuihoih zuengah hmuisae, kazii zuengah qui, sam zuengah lu sam aah muilumhaih, kaeng ah angzaeng ih kahni zuengah buri qui, kranghoihaih zuengah bohhaih ahmaa to om lat tih.
And in the place of sweet spices will be an evil smell, and for a fair band a thick cord; for a well-dressed head there will be the cutting-off of the hair, and for a beautiful robe there will be the clothing of sorrow; the mark of the prisoner in place of the ornaments of the free.
25 Nang ih kaminawk loe sumsen hoiah amtimh o ueloe, thacak misatuh kaminawk loe misatukhaih ahmuen ah amtimh o tih.
Your men will be put to the sword, and your men of war will come to destruction in the fight.
26 Zion ih khongkhanawk loe palungset hoiah qah o ueloe, palungboeghaih hoiah long ah anghnu o sut tih.
And in the public places of her towns will be sorrow and weeping; and she will be seated on the earth, waste and uncovered.
