< Isaiah 28 >
1 Misurtui paquih hoi long kahoih azawn hmuen ah kaom, Ephraim amoekhaih angraeng lumuek, azaem thaih lensawkhaih hoi kranghoihhaih apawk loe khosak bing!
Woe to the crown of pride, the hirelings of Ephraim, the flower that has fallen from the glory of the top of the fertile mountain, they that are drunken without wine.
2 Khenah, sak thaihaih hoi thacak Angraeng mah, qaetui hoi hmuennawk boih amrosak thaih takhi pui baktih, khopui angzoh moe, kalen parai tuinawk baktiah, tha hoi long ah va tih.
Behold, the anger of the Lord is strong and severe, as descending hail where there is no shelter, violently descending; as a great body of water sweeping away the soil, he shall make rest for the land.
3 Mu paquih Ephraim kaminawk amoekhaih angraeng lumuek to, khok hoiah cawh pae tih.
The crown of pride, the hirelings of Ephraim, shall be beaten down with the hands and with the feet.
4 Long kahoih azawn ah kaom lensawkhaih hoi kranghoihaih loe azaem tathuk apawk baktih, pakhrikhaih atue pha ai naah kahmin nipui tue ih thingthai baktiah om tih; to thingthai to kami mah hnuk naah pakhrik moe caak roep.
And the fading flower of the glorious hope on the top of the high mountain shall be as the early fig; he that sees it, before he takes it into his hand, will desire to swallow it down.
5 To na niah misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng Sithaw loe, kanghmat angmah ih kaminawk hanah, lensawkhaih lumuek hoi kahoih parai lumuek ah om tih.
In that day the Lord of hosts shall be the crown of hope, the woven [crown] of glory, to the remnant of the people.
6 Anih loe lokcaek kaminawk khaeah, katoengah lokcaekhaih muithla ah oh moe, misanawk mah vangpui khongkha to muk naah thacakhaih paekkung ah oh.
They shall be left in the spirit of judgement for judgement, and for the strength of them that hinder slaying.
7 Toe to kaminawk doeh misurtui pongah lamcaeh pazae o moe, mu pongah loklam amkhraeng o boeh; tahmaanawk hoi qaimanawk doeh mu pongah lamcaeh pazae o boeh; nihcae loe misurtui mah muek moe, mu pongah loklam amkhraeng o boih boeh; amsoem ai hnuksakhaih to a hnuk o moe, lokcaekhaih bangah amtimh o boeh.
For these have trespassed through wine; they have erred through strong drink: the priest and the prophet are mad through strong drink, they are swallowed up by reason of wine, they have staggered through drunkenness; they have erred: this is [their] vision.
8 Nihcae ih caboi loe kaciim ahmuen roe om ai, tamlok hoi panuet thok hmuen hoiah ni koi.
A curse shall devour this counsel, for this [is their] counsel for the sake of covetousness.
9 Anih mah mi maw patuk thai tang tih? Thaih kop hanah anih mah mi khaeah maw lok to thui pae tih? Tahnu amphi nawktanawk khaeah maw? Tahnu nae ai kaminawk khaeah maw thui pae tih?
To whom have we reported evils? and to whom have we reported a message? [even to those] that are weaned from the milk, who are drawn from the breast.
10 Amtukhaih maeto pacoeng maeto, catlang maeto pacoeng maeto, haeah zetta, hoah zetta hoiah amtuk han oh, tiah thuih o.
Expect you affliction on affliction, hope upon hope: yet a little, [and] yet a little,
11 To pongah Angraeng mah prae kalah kaminawk ih lok to patoh ueloe, lok kalah hoiah hae kaminawk hanah lok to thui tih.
by reason of the contemptuous [words] of the lips, by means of another language: for they shall speak to this people, saying to them,
12 Anih mah to kaminawk khaeah, Hae loe angpho kaminawk anghakhaih ahmuen ah oh; hae loe anghakhaih ahmuen ni, tiah a naa. Toe nihcae mah lok tahngai pae o ai.
This is the rest to him that is hungry, and this is the calamity: but they would not hear.
13 To pongah Angraeng ih lok loe nihcae hanah, amtukhaih maeto pacoeng maeto, catlang maeto pacoeng maeto; haeah zetta, hoah zetta ah om pae tih. To pacoengah nihcae loe caeh o ueloe, hnuk bangah amtim o tih; ahmaa caa o ueloe, thaang pongah aman o tih.
Therefore the oracle of God shall be to them affliction on affliction, hope on hope, yet a little, [and] yet a little, that they may go and fall backward; and they shall be crushed and shall be in danger, and shall be taken.
14 To pongah Jerusalem ih kami ukkung, kasae kaminawk, Angraeng ih lok to tahngai oh.
Therefore hear you the word of the Lord, you afflicted men, and you princes of this people that is in Jerusalem.
15 Duekhaih hoi lokmaihaih to ka sak o boeh, hell hoi doeh palungduehaih ka sak o boeh; tui uemhaih oh naah doeh, kaicae khaeah pha mak ai; kaicae loe amsawnlok pongah ka buep o moe, alinghaih tlim ah kang hawk o boeh, tiah na thuih o. (Sheol )
Because you have said, We have made a covenant with Hades, and agreements with death; if the rushing storm should pass, it shall not come upon us: we have made falsehood our hope, and by falsehood shall we be protected: (Sheol )
16 To pongah Angraeng Sithaw mah hae tiah thuih; Khenah, Zion ah angdoethaih thlung, tanoek tangcae ih thlung, atho kaom im takii ih thlung, kacakah angdoethaih thlung to ka thling boeh; to thlung oephaih tawn kami loe natuek naah doeh tasoehhaih tawn mak ai.
Therefore thus says the Lord, [even] the Lord, Behold, I lay for the foundations of Sion a costly stone, a choice, a corner-stone, a precious [stone], for its foundations; and he that believes [on him] shall by no means be ashamed.
17 Katoengah lokcaekhaih to tahhaih qui ah ka patoh moe, toenghaih to qui ah ka patoh han; nihcae mah oep o ih amsawnlok to qaetui mah amrosak boih ueloe, nihcae anghawkhaih ahmuen to tui mah pazawk pae boih tih.
And I will cause judgement [to be] for hope, and my compassion shall be for [just] measures, and you that trust vainly in falsehood [shall fall]: for the storm shall by no means pass by you,
18 Duekhaih hoiah na sak o ih lokmaihaih to amro tih; taprong hoiah na sak o ih palungduehaih doeh cak mak ai; tui uemhaih phak naah tui mah nangcae to pazawk tih. (Sheol )
except it also take away your covenant of death, and your trust in Hades shall by no means stand: if the rushing storm should come upon you, you shall be beaten down by it. (Sheol )
19 Tui uemhaih phak naah nangcae to pazawk tih; akhawnbang kruek, khoving khodai, tui mah nangcae to pazawk tih; to tamthang to na thaih o naah zithaih to om tih.
Whenever it shall pass by, it shall take you; morning by morning it shall pass by in the day, and in the night there shall be an evil hope. Learn to hear,
20 Angsonghaih iihkhun loe tak amzueng haih hanah duem tet ueloe, kahni doeh angkhuk hanah thoeng kae tih.
you that are distressed; we can’t fight, but we are ourselves too weak for you to be gathered.
21 Angraeng loe angmah ih tok, anghmang kathok tok to sak hanah, a tok sakhaih hoi dawnrai koi kaom a tok sakhaih to pacoeng thai hanah, Perazim mae nuiah anih angthawk baktiah angthawk ueloe, Gibeon azawn ah palungphui ih baktih toengah palungphui tih.
The Lord shall rise up as a mountain of ungodly [men], and shall be in the valley of Gabaon; he shall perform his works with wrath, [even] a work of bitterness, and his wrath shall deal strangely, and his destruction shall be strange.
22 To pongah kami pahnui thuihaih to vaihi toeng lai ah; to tih ai nahaeloe nang ih sumqui to caksak aep tih; long pum amrosak hanah misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng Sithaw mah thuih ih lok to ka thaih boeh.
Therefore do not you rejoice, neither let your bands be made strong; for I have heard of works finished and cut short by the Lord of hosts, which he will execute upon all the earth.
23 Ka thuih ih lok to thaih kop hanah, naa to patueng ah; ka lok hae tahngai ah loe pakuem ah.
Listen, and hear my voice; attend, and hear my words.
24 Laikok sah kami mah cangtii et hanah athun qui long atok maw? Anih mah long to talaih moe, takaeh khing maw?
Will the ploughman plough all the day? or will he prepare the seed beforehand, before he tills the ground?
25 Long to kangvan ah sak pacoengah na ai maw aanmunawk to patit moe, cungpram muunawk, cangtinawk, barley cang hoi tun muunawk to angmah ih ahmuen ah a haeh?
Does he not, when he has levelled the surface thereof, then sow the small black poppy, or cumin, and afterward sow wheat, and barley, and millet, and bread-corn in your borders?
26 Sithaw mah anih hanah katoeng lokcaekhaih to paek moe, anih hanah katoeng loklam to thuih pae.
So you shall be chastened by the judgement of your God, and shall rejoice.
27 Hmuihoih aannawk loe khok hoiah atii vai ai, maitaw lakok hoiah doeh atii vai ai; toe hmuihoih aannawk loe cung hoiah boh o moe, cungpramkungnawk doeh thingboeng hoiah ni boh o.
For the black poppy is not cleansed with harsh treatment, nor will a wagon-wheel pass over the cumin; but the black poppy is threshed with a rod, and the cumin shall be eaten with bread;
28 Cang loe atit han oh; toe mi mah doeh atii tuektuek mak ai; atithaih hrang lakok khok hoiah atitsak cadoeh, cang to dipsak pung mak ai.
for I will not be angry with you for ever, neither shall the voice of my anger crush you.
29 Hae baktih hmuennawk doeh misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng khae hoiah ni angzoh; a thuih ih lok loe dawnrai han oh; palunghahaih doeh anghmang thoh.
And these signs came forth from the Lord of hosts. Take counsel, exalt vain comfort.
