< Isaiah 17 >
1 Damaska kawng pongah thuih ih lok loe, Khenah, Damaska loe vangpui ah oh han ai ah, kamro hmuenmaenawk tapophaih ahmuen ah om tih.
The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from [being] a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.
2 Aroer vangpuinawk loe pahnawt sut boeh pongah, tuunawk prathaih ahmuen hoi tabokhaih ahmuen ah om tih; mi mah doeh nihcae to pazih mak ai boeh.
The cities of Aroer are forsaken: they shall be for flocks; and they shall lie down and there shall be none to make them afraid.
3 Ephraim prae thungah sipae hoi thungh ih vangpui om mak ai boeh, Damaska hoi kanghmat Syria prae ah doeh siangpahrang ukhaih om mak ai boeh; nihcae loe Israel caanawk lensawkhaih baktiah om o tih, tiah misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng mah thuih.
The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria: they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith Jehovah of hosts.
4 To na niah loe Jakob lensawkhaih to azaem ueloe, ngan pong ih athawk doeh zaek tih boeh.
And in that day it shall come to pass, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh shall become lean.
5 To naah loe cang aatkung mah cangqui to aah moe, a ban ah cangqui tapom, Rephaim azawn ih cang aat kami baktiah om tih.
And it shall be as when the reaper gathereth the corn, and reapeth the ears with his arm; yea, it shall be as he that gathereth ears in the valley of Rephaim.
6 Toe Olive kung to ahuenh naah, tanghang ranui koekah ih kanghmat athaih hnetto, to tih ai boeh loe thumto maw baktih, kapop ah kathai tanghang pongah kaom kanghmat athaih palito, to tih ai boeh loe pangato baktiah, kanghmat misurthaih to om tih, tiah Israel Angraeng Sithaw mah thuih.
And a gleaning shall be left in it, as at the shaking of an olive-tree: two, three berries above, in the tree-top; four, five in its fruitful boughs, saith Jehovah, the God of Israel.
7 To na niah loe kami mah angmah sahkung to dan ueloe, Israel Ciimcai Sithaw to khingyahaih hoiah khen tih.
In that day shall man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have regard to the Holy One of Israel.
8 Anih mah ban hoiah sak ih hmaicam to khen mak ai, a banpazung hoiah sak moe, thing nuiah soi ih krangnawk hoi hmuihoih thlaekhaih hmaicamnawk doeh dawncang mak ai boeh.
And he will not look to the altars, the work of his hands, nor have regard to what his fingers have made, neither the Asherahs nor the sun-images.
9 To na niah loe kacak parai anih ih vangpuinawk loe, Israel kaminawk mah caeh taak moe, vah sut ih thing hoi tadong ih thing tanghang baktiah om ueloe, prae doeh angqai krang tih boeh.
In that day shall his strong cities be as the forsaken tract in the woodland, and the mountain-top which they forsook before the children of Israel; and there shall be desolation.
10 Nangmacae pahlongkung Sithaw to na pahnet o moe, na thacak o haih lungsong to na poek o ai boeh pongah, kahoih thingkung to na thling o ueloe, kalah amuunawk to na patii o tih;
For thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength; therefore shalt thou plant pleasant plantations, and shalt set them with foreign slips:
11 to na niah na patit o ih amuu loe amprawk moe, akhawnbang ah apawk roep cadoeh, athaih pakhrikhaih tue loe nang hanah kahoih thai ai palungsethaih tue ah ni om tih.
in the day of thy planting wilt thou make [them] to grow, and on the morrow wilt thou make thy seed to flourish; [but] the harvest will flee in the day of taking possession, and the sorrow will be incurable.
12 Tuipui tuen baktiah katuen, kanoih parai kaminawk hoi thacak tuiphu kangthawk baktiah angthawk kaminawk loe, khosak bing!
Ha! a tumult of many peoples! they make a noise as the noise of the seas; — and the rushing of nations! they rush as the rushing of mighty waters.
13 Kaminawk loe kalen parai kangthawk tuiphu baktiah angthawk o cadoeh, nihcae to Sithaw mah thuitaek tih, nihcae loe ahmuen kangthla ah cawn o tih; nihcae loe mae nuiah takhi song naah takhi mah hmuh phaeng ih tavai baktih, kamhae takhi mah hmuh ih anghnoeng baktiah om o tih.
The nations rush as the rushing of many waters; but he will rebuke them, and they shall flee far away, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a whirling [of dust] before the whirlwind:
14 Khenah, duembang ah raihaih pha ueloe, akhawnbang pha ai naah anghmaa o tih. Hae loe kaicae ih hmuenmae lomh kami, kaicae parokungnawk mah tongh han ih taham ah om tih.
behold, at eventide, trouble; before the morning they are not. This is the portion of them that spoil us, and the lot of them that rob us.
