< Isaiah 10 >
1 Amtang kaminawk ih hmuen to lomh pae moe, kamtang kai ih kaminawk toenghaih lak pae ving hanah, lamhmainawk to pacaekthlaek moe, ampa tawn ai kaminawk ih hmuenmae to lomh hanah, katoeng ai patukhaih daan sah kaminawk hoi pacaekthlaek hanah lok takroek kaminawk loe khosak bing!
Woe to those who enact unjust statutes and issue oppressive decrees,
to deprive the poor of fair treatment and withhold justice from the oppressed of My people, to make widows their prey and orphans their plunder.
What will you do on the day of reckoning when devastation comes from afar? To whom will you flee for help? Where will you leave your wealth?
4 Kai mah abomh ai nahaeloe nihcae loe misong ah kaom kaminawk tlim ah om o ueloe, hum ih kaminawk salakah amtimh o tih. To tiah oh pacoengah doeh, anih palungphuihaih to dii ai, a ban phok toengtoeng vop.
Nothing will remain but to crouch among the captives or fall among the slain. Despite all this, His anger is not turned away; His hand is still upraised.
5 Ka palungphuihaih cunghet, ka palungphuihaih thingboeng, Assyria loe khosak bing!
Woe to Assyria, the rod of My anger; the staff in their hands is My wrath.
6 Sithaw panoek ai kaminawk to tuk hanah, anih to ka patoeh moe, kai palungphuisak kaminawk to tuk pacoengah, tangnong baktiah loklam ah cawh hanah, anih to ka patoeh han.
I will send him against a godless nation; I will dispatch him against a people destined for My rage, to take spoils and seize plunder, and to trample them down like clay in the streets.
7 Toe hae loe anih mah sak atim ih hmuen na ai, anih palung thungah kaom hmuen doeh na ai ni; anih mah sak atimhaih loe kanoih parai prae kaminawk to phraek moe, amrosak han ih hae ni.
But this is not his intention; this is not his plan. For it is in his heart to destroy and cut off many nations.
8 Assyria siangpahrang mah, misatuh angraengnawk boih loe kai ih kami ah na ai maw oh o?
“Are not all my commanders kings?” he says.
9 Kalno vangpui, Karkhemish vangpui, Hammath vangpui, Arpad vangpui, Samaria vangpui hoi Damaska vangpui loe nihcae mah lak o boeh na ai maw? tiah thuih.
“Is not Calno like Carchemish? Is not Hamath like Arpad? Is not Samaria like Damascus?
10 Jerusalem hoi Samaria vangpui ih krangnawk pongah kahoih kue, krang bok kaminawk ih prae to ka lomh pae boeh moe,
As my hand seized the idolatrous kingdoms whose images surpassed those of Jerusalem and Samaria,
11 Samaria hoi anih ih krangnawk nuiah ka sak ih hmuen baktih toengah, Jerusalem hoi anih ih krangnawk nuiah doeh ka sah mak ai maw? tiah thuih.
and as I have done to Samaria and its idols, will I not also do to Jerusalem and her idols?”
12 Angraeng mah sak atim ih hmuen boih Zion mae hoi Jerusalem nuiah sah tih, anih loe poeksang moe, amoekhaih hoiah mik padai, Assyria siangpahrang to thuitaek tih.
So when the Lord has completed all His work against Mount Zion and Jerusalem, He will say, “I will punish the king of Assyria for the fruit of his arrogant heart and the proud look in his eyes.
13 Anih mah, Hae hmuennawk loe ka ban thacakhaih hoi palunghahaih hoiah ni ka sak; kai loe palunghahaih hoiah acung; prae kaminawk ih ramri to ka tahruet pae moe, thacak kami mah nihcae ih siangpahrang pazawk pae baktih toengah, nihcae ih hmuenmae to ka lomh pae boeh:
For he says: ‘By the strength of my hand I have done this, and by my wisdom, for I am clever. I have removed the boundaries of nations and plundered their treasures; like a mighty one I subdued their rulers.
14 kami mah tavaa tabu thung ih tadui to lak baktih toengah, prae kaminawk boih ih angraenghaih to ka lak boeh; mi doeh pakhraeh bop ai, hangh hanah pakha ang o ai.
My hand reached as into a nest to seize the wealth of the nations. Like one gathering abandoned eggs, I gathered all the earth. No wing fluttered, no beak opened or chirped.’”
15 Caka mah caka patohkung to laisaep thuih vai maw, to tih ai boeh loe thing aahhaih sarang mah patohkung nuiah amoek thuih vai maw? Thingboeng mah patohkung to atoengh tahang vai maw, kami mah na ai maw thingboeng to atoengh tahang? tiah a naa.
Does an axe raise itself above the one who swings it? Does a saw boast over him who saws with it? It would be like a rod waving the one who lifts it, or a staff lifting him who is not wood!
16 To pongah Angraeng, misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng mah, kathawk hruk misatuh kaminawk khaeah nganzaek nathaih to patoeh ueloe, lensawkhaih hoiah ohhaih tlim ah kangqong hmai baktiah hmai mah kangh tih.
Therefore the Lord GOD of Hosts will send a wasting disease among Assyria’s stout warriors, and under his pomp will be kindled a fire like a burning flame.
17 Israel aanghaih loe kangqong hmai ah om tih; anih ih Ciimcai Sithaw loe hmaipalai ah om tih; anih ih kapring phroh hoi soekhring loe nito thung hmai mah kangh ueloe, amro boih tih.
And the Light of Israel will become a fire, and its Holy One a flame. In a single day it will burn and devour Assyria’s thorns and thistles.
18 Taw thung ih hmuennawk hoi long kahoih lawk hmuennawk boih, a hinghaih hoi a takpum doeh nawnto amro boih tih; nihcae loe nganna kaminawk baktiah thazok o tih.
The splendor of its forests and orchards, both soul and body, it will completely destroy, as a sickness consumes a man.
19 Anih taw thung ih kanghmat thingnawk doeh, nawkta mah cazin lak thai koiah zetta ni om sut tih boeh, tiah thuih.
The remaining trees of its forests will be so few that a child could count them.
20 To na niah kanghmat Israel kami hoi kaloih anghmat Jakob imthung takohnawk loe, nihcae hum kami nuiah amha o mak ai boeh, Ciimcai Israel Sithaw nuiah ni amha o tih boeh.
On that day the remnant of Israel and the survivors of the house of Jacob will no longer depend on him who struck them, but they will truly rely on the LORD, the Holy One of Israel.
21 Anghmat kami, kanghmat Jakob acaeng loe, Thacak Sithaw khaeah amlaem o let tih.
A remnant will return —a remnant of Jacob— to the Mighty God.
22 Israelnawk loe tuipui taeng ih savuet zetto pop o e, anghmat kaminawk ni amlaem o let tih; nihcae mah tongh o han koi amrohaih loe katoeng lokcaekhaih ah ni om tih.
Though your people, O Israel, be like the sand of the sea, only a remnant will return. Destruction has been decreed, overflowing with righteousness.
23 Misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng mah prae boih nuiah suekcoek ih amrohaih to akoepsak tih.
For the Lord GOD of Hosts will carry out the destruction decreed upon the whole land.
24 To pongah misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng Sithaw mah, Izip kaminawk mah sak ih baktih toengah, Zion ah kaom kai ih kaminawk to Assyria kaminawk mah thingboeng hoiah bop o tih, nihcae mah thingboeng hoiah na pahuem o tih; toe nihcae to zii o hmah.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD of Hosts says: “O My people who dwell in Zion, do not fear Assyria, who strikes you with a rod and lifts his staff against you as the Egyptians did.
25 Palung ka phuihaih loe nihcae amrohaih ah oh baktih toengah, nangcae nuiah palung ka phuihaih loe nawnetta thungah dii tih boeh.
For in just a little while My fury against you will subside, and My anger will turn to their destruction.”
26 Angraeng Sithaw mah Oreb lungsong taengah, Median kaminawk danpaek baktih toengah, Assyria kaminawk to thingboeng hoiah bop tih; Egypt prae ah tuipui to boh moe, tui koihsak baktih toengah a thacakhaih to amtuengsak tih.
And the LORD of Hosts will brandish a whip against them, as when He struck Midian at the rock of Oreb. He will raise His staff over the sea, as He did in Egypt.
27 To na niah loe na palaeng ih hmuen kazit hoi na tahnong ih hmuen phawhhaih hnam to azuk pae ving tih boeh; situi to bawh boeh pongah, hmuen phawhhaih hnam to apet tih boeh.
On that day the burden will be lifted from your shoulders, and the yoke from your neck. The yoke will be broken because your neck will be too large.
28 Misanawk loe Aiath vangpui ah phak o moe, Migron vangpui ah caeh o poe; Mikmash vangpui ah hmuenmae to amtik o:
Assyria has entered Aiath and passed through Migron, storing their supplies at Michmash.
29 mae salak ih loklam hoiah a caeh o moe, Geba ah anghak o; Ramah loe tasoeh moe, Saul ohhaih Gibeah loe cawnh ving.
They have crossed at the ford: “We will spend the night at Geba.” Ramah trembles; Gibeah of Saul flees.
30 Aw Gallim canu, hang ah! Aw laishiah, tahngai ah! Anathoth loe tahmen thoh parai!
Cry aloud, O Daughter of Gallim! Listen, O Laishah! O wretched Anathoth!
31 Madmenah loe cawnh ving boeh; Gebim ih kaminawk doeh cawnh o moe, loih o boeh.
Madmenah flees; the people of Gebim take refuge.
32 To na niah loe Nob vangpui ah anghak o tih; Jerusalem ih mae, Zion canu ih mae ah a ban to takhoek tih.
Yet today they will halt at Nob, shaking a fist at the mount of Daughter Zion, at the hill of Jerusalem.
33 Khenah, Angraeng, misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng mah zitthok thing tanghang to pakhruh ving tih; anih mah kasang parai thing tanghangnawk doeh pakhruh ueloe, kasang parai tanghangnawk doeh kahnaem ah pakhru tih.
Behold, the Lord GOD of Hosts will lop off the branches with terrifying power. The tall trees will be cut down, the lofty ones will be felled.
34 Taw thung ih thingnawk to caka hoiah pakhru tih, Babylon loe Thacak Kami ih ban hoiah amtim tih.
He will clear the forest thickets with an axe, and Lebanon will fall before the Mighty One.
