< Isaiah 1 >

1 Judah siangpahrang, Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz hoi Hezekiah cae mah prae uk o nathuem ah, Amos capa Isaiah mah Jerusalem hoi Judah kawng pongah hmuen hnusakhaih to hnuk.
The vision of Isaiah [Salvation of Yah] the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah [Praised] and Jerusalem [City of peace], in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah [Praised].
2 Aw vannawk tahngai oh! Aw long nang, tahngai ah! Angraeng mah, Caanawk to ka pacah moe, ka qoengsak tahang, toe nihcae mah kai laisaep o thuih.
Sh'ma ·Hear obey·, heavens, and listen, earth; for Adonai has spoken: “I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled to break away from authority thus breaking relationship against me.
3 Maitaw tae mah tawnkung to panoek, laa hrang mah doeh pacahkung ih lok maat; toe Israel mah loe kai to na panoek ai, kai ih kaminawk loe khopoek o ai, tiah thuih.
The ox knows his owner, and the donkey his master’s crib; but Israel [God prevails] does not know, my people don’t consider.”
4 Aw kasae acaeng, zaehaih hoiah koi kami, kahoih ai hmuen sak koeh caanawk, kamro caa ah ni a oh o boeh! Nihcae mah Angraeng to caeh o taak, Israel Ciimcai kami to palungphui o sak moe, hnuk angqoi o taak ving boeh.
Ah sinful ·deviant (from the standard goal)· nation, a people loaded with depravity (moral evil), offspring of evildoers, children who deal corruptly! They have forsaken Adonai. They have despised haKadosh Isra'el [the Holy One of God prevails]. They are estranged and backward.
5 Tipongah nihcae to nganbawh kana ka paek aep loe? Tikhoe kanung aep ah na laisaep o loe? Na lu loe ahmaa caak boih boeh moe, na palung doeh thazok boih boeh.
Why should you be beaten more, that you revolt more and more? The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.
6 Na khokpadae hoi na lu khoek to cuemhaih ahmuen roe om ai; ahmaa caakhaih, athii kaduk hoi ahnai cing ah ni oh boeh; ahnai loe pasae ai, zaeng doeh zaeng ai, tasi doeh nok ai.
From the sole of the foot even to the head there is no soundness in it: wounds, welts, and open sores. They haven’t been closed, neither bandaged, neither soothed with oil.
7 Na prae loe pongsut boeh, na vangpuinawk doeh hmai hoiah thlaek o boih boeh; na lawknawk doeh na mikhnuk ah prae kalah kaminawk mah caak o boih boeh, prae kalah kaminawk mah paro o moe, kami doeh angqai krang boeh.
Your country is desolate. Your cities are burned with fire. Strangers devour your land in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.
8 Zion canu loe misur takha thung ih buk baktih, payae thaih patithaih takha thung ih buk baktih, takui khoep ih vangpui baktiah oh sut boeh.
The daughter of Zion [Mountain ridge, Marking] is left like a shelter in a vineyard, like a hut in a field of melons, like a besieged city.
9 Misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng Sithaw mah anghmat kaminawk to pathlung ai nahaeloe, Sodom baktiah ni a om o ueloe, Gomorrah hoiah anghmong o tih boeh.
Unless Adonai Tzva'ot [Yahweh Commander of heaven’s armies] had left to us a very small remnant, we would have been as Sodom [Burning]; we would have been like Gomorrah [Rebellious people, Tyrants].
10 Nangcae Sodom ukkungnawk, Angraeng ih lok to tahngai oh; nangcae Gomorrah kaminawk, kaicae Sithaw patukhaih lok to tahngai oh!
Sh'ma ·Hear obey· Adonai’s word, you rulers of Sodom [Burning]! Listen to the Torah ·Teaching· of our God, you people of Gomorrah [Rebellious people, Tyrants]!
11 Angraeng mah, pop parai ah nang paek o ih angbawnhaih hmuennawk loe kai hanah atho timaw oh? tiah thuih; hmai angbawnhaih ah sak ih tuu taenawk hoi kathawk parai moithawk hoiah zok kam hah boeh; kai loe maitaw taenawk, to tih ai boeh loe tuucaanawk, to tih ai boeh loe maehnawk ih athii pongah anghoehaih ka tawn ai.
“What are the multitude of your sacrifices to me?,” says Adonai. “I have had enough of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed animals. I don’t delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs, or of male goats.
12 Ka hmaa ah nang zoh o moe, ka imthung ih longhma to cawh hanah nang zoh o naah, hae baktih hmuennawk sin hanah mi mah maw ang hnik o?
When you come to appear before me, who has required this at your hand, to trample my courts?
13 Tidoeh avang ai hmuenpaekhaih to sin o hmah! Hmuihoih doeh ka panuet boeh; khrah kangthanawk, Sabbath hoi kaminawk amkhuenghaih doeh ka panuet boeh; kaciim amkhuenghaih ahmuen ah sethaih hoiah na sak o ih hmuen to ka pauep thai ai boeh.
Bring no more vain offerings. Incense is an abomination to me; new moons, Shab'totay ·Intermissions·, and convocations: I can’t bear with vain striving of iniquity in assemblies.
14 Nangcae ih khrah kangtha hoi na sak o ih poihnawk doeh ka hinghaih mah hnukma boeh; to baktih hmuennawk loe kai han raihaih ah ni oh, pauep loiah kang pho sut boeh.
My soul hates your New Moons and your appointed feasts. They are a burden to me. I am weary of bearing them.
15 Lawkthuih han ban na payangh o naah doeh, mik kang tamuep o taak ving han; ue, pop parai ah lawk na thuih o cadoeh, kang tahngai pae o mak ai; nangcae ih ban loe athii hoiah koi.
When you spread out your hands, I will hide my eyes from you. Yes, when you make many prayers, I will not sh'ma ·hear obey·. Your hands are full of blood.
16 Nangmacae hoi nangmacae to tui hoi amsae oh loe, ciimcai ah om oh; na sak o ih kasae hmuennawk to ka hmaa hoi va oh! Hmuen kasae sakhaih to toengh oh,
Wash yourselves, make yourself clean. Put away the evil of your doings from before my eyes. Cease to do evil.
17 kahoih hmuen to sak amtuk oh! Toenghaih to pakrong oh loe, pacaekthlaek ih kaminawk to loih o sak ah; ampa tawn ai kaminawk to angdoe o haih ah loe, lamhmainawk to abom oh.
Learn to do well. Seek mishpat ·justice·. Relieve the oppressed. Judge the orphan. Plead for the widow.”
18 Vaihi angzo oh, nawnto kho poek o noek si, tiah Angraeng mah thuih; na zae o haih loe thim ding cadoeh, dantui baktiah anglung tih; kathim car ah om cadoeh, tuumui baktiah om tih.
“Come now, and let us reason together,” says Adonai: “Though your crimes deserving penalty, sins ·missing the goal· be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow. Though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
19 Lok tahngaih na koeh o nahaeloe, prae thung ih kahoih koek hmuen to na caa o tih;
If you are willing and sh'ma ·hearing obedient·, you shall eat the good of the land;
20 toe nang maak o moe, lok na aek o nahaeloe, sumsen hoiah na dueh o tih; Angraeng ih pakhaa mah thuih boeh.
but if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured with the sword; for the mouth of Adonai has spoken it.”
21 Oep kaom vangpui loe kawbangmaw tangzat zaw kami ah oh ving? Toenghaih hoiah kakoi, katoeng kaminawk to vangpui thungah oh o; toe vaihi loe kami hum kami ah oh o lat boeh!
How the faithful city has become a prostitute! She was full of mishpat ·justice·; righteousness lodged in her, but now murderers.
22 Na phoisa loe aek mah caak boih boeh moe, na misurtui doeh tui hoiah angbaeh boeh;
Your silver has become dross, your wine mixed with water.
23 nang ukkungnawk loe laisaep thaih kami ah oh o moe, kamqunawk hoi amyok o boeh; ukkung angraengnawk loe tangqumta hoi paek ih bokhaih hmuen to koeh o moe, tangqum paekhaih to amtoemh o; nihcae mah ampa tawn ai kaminawk to angdoe o haih ai moe, lamhmainawk abomhaih tok doeh sah o ai.
Your princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves. Everyone 'ahav ·affectionately loves· bribes, and follows after rewards. They don’t judge the orphan, neither does the cause of the widow come to them.
24 To pongah misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng, Thacak Israel Sithaw mah, Ah, ka misanawk nuiah lu ka lak han boeh, ka misanawk pongah dawnrai ka tonghaih hoihkhang tih boeh, tiah thuih.
Therefore 'Adonay Adonai Tzva'ot [Lord, Yahweh Commander of heaven’s armies], the Mighty One of Israel [God prevails], says: “Ah, I will get relief from my adversaries, and avenge myself on my enemies;
25 Na nuiah ban ka phok moe, panuet thok aeknawk to kang pasaeh pae han, sum aek baktiah na qong ukhaih to kang ciimsak bang han.
and I will turn my hand on you, thoroughly purge away your dross, and will take away all your tin.
26 Nang lokcaek kaminawk loe kaom hmaloe hmuen baktiah ka ohsak moe, nang han kahoih poekhaih paek kaminawk to tangsuek nathuem ih baktiah ka ohsak let han; to pacoengah loe nang to, Toenghaih vangpui, oepthok vangpui, tiah na kawk o tih boeh.
I will restore your judges as at the first, and your counselors as at the beginning. Afterward you shall be called ‘The city of righteousness, a faithful town.’
27 Zion loe toenghaih hoiah ka krang moe, vangpui thungah kaom dawnpakhuem kaminawk doeh toenghaih hoiah ka krang han.
Zion [Mountain ridge, Marking] shall be redeemed with mishpat ·justice·, and her converts with righteousness.
28 Toe zaehaih sak koeh kaminawk hoi zae kaminawk loe nawnto amro o hmaek tih, Angraeng pahnawt kaminawk loe amro o boih tih.
But the destruction of the rebellious who break away from authority thus breaking relationship and people who sin ·intentionally miss the mark goal· shall be together, and those who forsake Adonai shall be consumed.
29 Nangcae loe na koeh o ih oak thing pongah azathaih na tongh o ueloe, na qoih o ih takhanawk pongah mikhmai na sae o tih.
For they shall be ashamed of the oaks which you have desired, and you shall be confounded for the gardens that you have chosen.
30 Nangcae loe aqam kangmuen oak thing baktiah na om o ueloe, tui kaom ai takha baktiah na om o tih.
For you shall be as an oak whose leaf fades, and as a garden that has no water.
31 Thacak kami loe khawkqui baktiah om ueloe, anih ih toksah kami doeh kangqong hmai baktiah om tih; nihnik loe hmai mah kang hmaek tih, mi mah doeh paduek thai mak ai.
The strong will be like tinder, and his work like a spark. They will both burn together, and no one will quench them.”
