< Hosea 9 >
1 Aw Israel anghoe hmah; minawk kalah baktiah anghoe hmah. Nang loe na Sithaw koeh ai ih tangzat zaw kami khaeah na caeh. Cang atithaih ahmuen kruekah tangzat to na zawh, tangzat zawhhaih phoisa hoiah poek na nawm.
Rejoice not, O Israel, neither make merry, as [other] nations: for you have gone a-whoring from your God; you have loved gifts upon every threshing floor.
2 Cang atithaih hoi misurtui pasawhhaih mah nihcae to pacah mak ai, misurtui kangtha mah anih to amtimsak tih.
The threshing floor and wine-press knew them not, and the wine disappointed them.
3 Nihcae loe Angraeng prae thungah om o mak ai, toe Ephraim loe Izip prae ah amlaem let ueloe, Assyria prae ah ciimcai ai buhnawk to caa tih.
They lived not in the Lord's land: Ephraim lived in Egypt, and they shall eat unclean things amongst the Assyrians.
4 Angraeng khaeah misurtui to paek o mak ai, anih loe nihcae mah paek ih hmuen hoiah palung anghoe mak ai. To tiah a sak o ih hmuen loe nihcae han palungsae kaminawk ih takaw baktiah ni om tih; to buh kacaa kaminawk loe amhnong o boih tih. Nihcae ih takaw loe angmacae hing haih ah om tih, Angraeng imthung ah angzo haih mak ai.
They have not offered wine to the Lord, neither have their sacrifices been sweet to him, [but] as the bread of mourning to them; all that eat them shall be defiled; for their bread for their soul shall not enter into the house of the Lord.
5 Angraeng ih poih ni hoi atue khaehhaih niah timaw na sak o han?
What will you do in the day of the general assembly, and in the day of the feast of the Lord?
6 Khenah, nihcae loih o langlacadoeh, Izip kaminawk mah nihcae to naeh o let tih; Memphis mah nihcae to aphum tih. A tawnh o ih atho kana sum kanglung loe phroh thungah anghma ueloe, nihcae ih im doeh soekhring mah khuk khoep tih.
Therefore, behold, they go forth from the trouble of Egypt, and Memphis shall receive them, and Machmas shall bury them: [as for] their silver, destruction shall inherit it; thorns [shall be] in their tents.
7 Danpaekhaih ni loe angzoh boeh; atho pathokhaih ni loe zoi daek boeh. To hmuen to Israel mah panoek tih: pop parai na zaehaih hoi pop parai kalen hnukmahaih to na tawnh o pongah, tahmaa loe amthu moe, muithla hmuen paekhaih tawn kami doeh palungha ai, tiah na thuih o.
The days of vengeance are come, the days of your recompense are come; and Israel shall be afflicted as the prophet that is mad, as a man deranged: by reason of the multitude of your iniquities your madness has abounded.
8 Ephraim khenzawnkung loe Sithaw mah ni patoeh; toe tahmaa loe a caehhaih loklam ah thaang mah pakaa moe, angmah Sithaw imthung ah hnukmahaih to oh.
The watchman of Ephraim [was] with God: the prophet is a crooked snare in all his ways: they have established madness in the house of God.
9 Gibeah dung ih kaminawk baktiah, nihcae loe kating ai ah amro o boeh. Toe anih mah nihcae zaehaih to panoek pae ueloe, a zae o haih baktih toengah danpaek tih.
They have corrupted themselves according to the days of the hill: he will remember their iniquities, he will take vengeance on their sins.
10 Israel loe praezaek ih misurthaih baktiah ka hnuk; nangcae ampanawk doeh athai tangsuek thaiduet thaih baktiah ka hnuk. Toe nihcae loe Baal Poer khaeah caeh o moe, angmacae hoi angmacae to ang paek o pongah, azathaih a tong o; a koeh o ih hmuen baktiah panuet kaom ah khosak o.
I found Israel as grapes in the wilderness, and I saw their fathers as an early watchman in a fig tree: they went in to Beel-phegor, and were shamefully estranged, and the abominable became as the beloved.
11 Ephraim lensawkhaih loe tavaa baktiah azawk ving tih boeh; nang loe nawkta tapenhaih hoi zokpomhaih om mak ai boeh.
Ephraim has flown away as a bird; their glories from the birth, and the travail, and the conception.
12 Nihcae mah nawkta sah o langlacadoeh, nihcae to palung ka setsak han, anghmat kami om ai ah ka lak pae boih han: ue, ka caehtaak naah loe nihcae khosak bing o tih!
For even if they should rear their children, yet shall they be utterly bereaved: therefore also there is woe to them, [though] my flesh is of them.
13 Ephraim loe ahmuen kahoih ah thling ih, Tura baktiah ka hnuk boeh; toe Ephraim loe kami humnawk khaeah a caanawk to caeh haih tih.
Ephraim, [even] as I saw, gave their children for a prey; yes, Ephraim [was ready] to bring out his children to slaughter.
14 Aw Angraeng, nihcae hanah tih maw na paek han? Caa amrohaih maw, to tih ai boeh loe tahnutui kaanghaih maw to paek ah!
Give them, O Lord: what will you give them? a miscarrying womb, and dry breasts.
15 Gilgal ah kahoih ai hmuen to a sak o pongah, nihcae to ka hnukma. Kasae hmuen a sak o pongah, nihcae to ka imthung hoiah ka haek han; nihcae nuiah amlunghaih ka tawn mak ai boeh. Nihcae ukkung angraengnawk loe misa angthawk kami ah oh o boih boeh.
All their wickedness is in Galgal: for there I hated them: because of the wickedness of their practices, I will cast them out of my house, I will not love them any more: all their princes are disobedient.
16 Ephraim loe mitong boeh, tangzunnawk doeh zaek boih boeh; athaih doeh athai mak ai boeh: ue, nihcae mah ca sah o mangh cadoeh, a kawt o huek ih a caanawk to ka hum pae ving han.
Ephraim is sick, he is dried up at his roots, he shall in no wise any more bear fruit: therefore even if they should beget [children], I will kill the desired [fruit] of their womb.
17 Nihcae mah Angraeng ih lok tahngai o ai pongah, kai ih Sithaw mah nihcae to takhoe ving tih; to naah nihcae loe prae kaminawk salakah avak rumram kami ah om o tih.
God shall reject them, because they have not listened to him: and they shall be wanderers amongst the nations.
