< Hosea 8 >
1 Mongkah to ueng ah! Kaminawk mah ka lokmaihaih to phraek o moe, ka patuk ih lok to aek o pongah, Anih loe angraeng ih im taek hanah tahmu baktiah angzo tih.
Set the trumpet to thy mouth. [He cometh] as an eagle against the house of Jehovah, because they have transgressed my covenant, and rebelled against my law.
2 Israel mah kai khaeah, ka Sithaw, nang to kang panoek! tiah hang tih.
They shall cry unto me, My God, we know thee; [we], Israel.
3 Toe Israel mah kahoih hmuen to pahnawt pongah, misa mah anih to patom tih.
Israel hath cast off good: the enemy shall pursue him.
4 Kai naakrakhaih om ai ah, ukkung siangpahrangnawk to a suek; nihcae mah ukkung angraengnawk to qoih o, toe to kaminawk to ka tapom pae ai. Angmacae amro hanah sui, sum kanglung hoiah krang to a sak o.
They have set up kings, but not by me; they have made princes, and I knew it not; of their silver and their gold have they made them idols, that they may be cut off.
5 Aw Samaria, maitaw caa krang to na sak pongah palung ka phui; ciimcai hanah nasetto maw akra vop tih?
Thy calf, O Samaria, hath cast [thee] off; mine anger is kindled against them: how long will they be incapable of purity?
6 To baktih hmuennawk loe Israel mah na ai maw sak! To hmuen loe bantok sah kop kami mah sak rumram ih hmuen ah ni oh, Sithaw na ai ni; Samaria mah sak ih maitaw caa krang loe koi phaeng tih.
For from Israel is this also: — a workman made it, and it is no God: for the calf of Samaria shall be [broken in] pieces.
7 Nihcae loe takhi to haeh o moe, takhi kamhae to ni a aah o. Akung loe aquih om ai; natuek naah doeh athai mak ai. Athaih athai langlacadoeh prae kalah kaminawk mah caa o boih tih.
For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: it hath no stalk; should it sprout, it would yield no meal; if so be it yield, strangers shall swallow it up.
8 Israel loe paaeh ving boeh; nihcae loe vaihi koeh koi kaom ai sabae baktiah Gentelnawk salakah oh o boeh.
Israel is swallowed up: now are they become among the nations as a vessel wherein is no pleasure.
9 Nihcae loe taw ah angmabueng kaom laa hrang baktiah ni, Assyria ah caeh o; Ephraim loe tlangainawk khaeah angmah hoi angmah to ang zawh.
For they are gone up [to] Assyria [as] a wild ass alone by himself: Ephraim hath hired lovers.
10 Ue, nihcae loe prae kaminawk salakah angmah hoi angmah ang zaw langlacadoeh, vaihi nihcae to ka pakhueng let han; ukkung angraengnawk pacaekthlaek pongah, nihcae loe palungsethaih tong o tih.
Although they hire among the nations, now will I gather them, and they shall begin to be straitened under the burden of the king of princes.
11 Ephraim loe zaehaih hmuen tathlang hanah pop parai hmaicam to sak, toe to hmaicamnawk loe zaesakhaih ahmuen ah ni oh.
Because Ephraim hath multiplied altars to sin, altars shall be unto him to sin.
12 Anih han kalen parai ka paek ih lok to ka tarik pae boeh, toe nihcae mah hmuen kalah ah poek o.
I have prescribed unto him the manifold things of my law: they are counted [as] a strange thing.
13 Nihcae mah kai hanah moi paekhaih to sak o moe, moi to a caak o, toe nihcae mah paek ih hmuen to Angraeng mah tapom pae ai. Vaihi anih mah nihcae zaehaih to pakuem ueloe, nihcae mah sak o ih zaehaih baktih toengah danpaek tih. To pacoengah nihcae loe Izip prae ah amlaem o tih.
They sacrifice flesh [for] the sacrifices of mine offerings, and eat it; Jehovah hath no delight in them. Now will he remember their iniquity, and visit their sins: they shall return to Egypt.
14 Israel loe angmah Sahkung to pahnet ving boeh, tempulnawk to a sak boeh; Judah mah kapop vangpui pakahaih sipae to sak boeh; toe anih ih vangpui nuiah hmai to ka patoeh han, to naah anih angraenghaih ahmuen to hmai mah kangh boih tih.
For Israel hath forgotten his Maker, and buildeth temples; and Judah hath multiplied fenced cities: but I will send a fire upon his cities, and it shall devour the palaces thereof.
