< Hosea 2 >
1 Nangmacae ih namyanawk khaeah, Ammi (kai ih kami), tiah thui oh loe, na tanuhnawk khaeah, Ruhamah (palungnathaih amtuengsak), tiah thui oh.
“On that day you will call your brothers Ammi, and you will call your sisters Ruhamah.
2 Nam no to thuitaek ah, zoeh ah; anih loe kai ih zu na ai ni, kai doeh anih ih sava na ai ni. A mikhmai hoi tangzat zawh han khethaih to va ving nasoe loe, anih ih tahnu salak hoiah zae sakhaih to va ving lai nasoe;
Condemn your mother, condemn her because she is not my wife and I am not her husband. Tell her to stop looking like a prostitute—get rid of the makeup and the provocative clothing.
3 to tih ai nahaeloe bangkrai ah oh hanah anih to khukbuen ka khring pae moe, tapenhaih ni nathuem ih baktih toengah, bangkrai ah ka ohsak han, anih to praezaek baktiah ka sak moe, long karoem baktiah ka suem ueloe, tui anghaehhaih hoiah ka duehsak moeng tih.
Otherwise I will strip her naked as the day she was born, and make her like a desert, a barren land, and let her die of thirst.
4 Nihcae loe tangzat zaw kami ih caa ah oh o pongah, a caanawk nuiah tahmenhaih ka tawn mak ai.
I will have no pity on her children because they are children of prostitution.
5 Anih mah, Kai han buh hoi tui paek kami, tuumui hoi puu ngan khukbuen paekkung, situi hoi naek koi paek kami ah kaom, kaimah ih tlangainawk hnuk ah ka caeh han, tiah a thuih. Nihcae ih amno loe tangzat to zawh moe, azat koi kaom ah khosakhaih hoiah ni nihcae a pomh.
For their mother was a prostitute who conceived them in a shameful way. She said, ‘I'll run after my lovers who give me my food and water, my wool and flax and olive oil, and my drink.’
6 To pongah khenah, Na caehhaih loklam to soekhring hoiah ka pakaa khoep moe, sipae kang thungh pae khoep han, to naah loe anih mah caehhaih loklam to hnu mak ai boeh.
That is why I am going to block her path with thorn bushes, and build a stone wall to stop her so she won't find her way.
7 Anih mah angmah ih tlangainawk to patom tih, toe kae mak ai; anih mah nihcae to pakrong tih, toe hnu mak ai. To naah anih mah, Ka caeh moe, hmaloe ih ka sava khaeah kam laem let han, to tiah ni vaihi pongah khosak ka hoih kue tih, tiah thui tih.
When she runs after her lovers she won't catch up with them; she'll look for them but she won't find them. Then she'll say, ‘Let me go back to my former husband, because it was better for me then than now.’
8 Kai mah ni anih hanah cang, misurtui hoi situinawk to ka paek, nihcae mah Baal han patoh o ih sui hoi sum kanglung doeh kai mah ni ka paek, tiah anih mah panoek ai.
She doesn't consider that it was me who gave her grain, new wine, and olive oil; the silver and the gold which I gave her abundantly that they made into an idol of Baal.
9 To pongah kam laem moe, atue mah phak naah kaimah ih cang hoi misurtui to ka lak pae ving han; anih bangkrai ah ohhaih to khuk hanah, ka paek ih kaimah ih tuumui hoi puu ngan khukbuen doeh ka lak pae let han.
So I will take back my ripened grain and my new wine I gave at harvest time. I will take back my wool and my flax I provided to cover her nakedness.
10 To pongah vaihi anih ih tlangainawk mikhnuk ah, anih azathaih to kam tuengsak han, mi mah doeh kai ih ban thung hoiah anih to loih o sak thai mak ai.
I will strip her naked while her lovers watch; no one will be able to rescue her from me.
11 Anih ih poihsakhaih, poihsakhaih ninawk, khrah kangthanawk, Sabbath ninawk hoi kalah amkhuenghaih poihnawk boih doeh ka boengsak han.
I will put a stop to all her festivities: her feasts, new moon celebrations, special Sabbaths—all her festivals.
12 Anih mah, Hae loe ka tlangainawk mah tha pathokhaih atho ah paek ih hmuen ah oh, tiah thuih ih angmah ih misurkung hoi thaiduetkungnawk to kam rosak han: to ahmuen to taw ah kang coengsak moe, moisannawk to ka caaksak han.
I will destroy her vines and fig trees that she said were given to her as payment for being a prostitute. I will turn them into scrub-land; only wild animals will eat the remaining fruit.
13 Baalnawk khaeah hmuihoih a thlaekhaih aninawk pongah, anih to ka thuitaek han. Anih loe bantuek, naa tangkraeng, atho kana hmuen hoiah amthoep moe, angmah ih tlangainawk hnuk ah a caeh, kai ang pahnawt sut boeh, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
I will punish her for all the times she offered incense to Baal, dressing herself up, putting on rings and jewelry, going after her lovers, but forgetting about me, declares the Lord.
14 To pongah khenah, anih to ka zoek moe, praezaek ah ka caeh haih pacoengah, lok kanaem ka thuih pae han.
See what I'm going to do! I will win her back, taking her into the desert where I will speak to her heart-to-heart.
15 To ah anih han misur takhanawk to ka paek let moe, Akhor Azawn to oephaih khongkha ah ka sak pae han; nawkta nathuem ih baktih, Izip prae hoi angzohhaih ni thuem ih baktih toengah, anih mah to ahmuen ah laa to sah tih boeh.
There I will return her vineyards to her and make the Valley of Achor a door of hope. There she will respond to me as she did when she was young, as in the time when she left the land of Egypt.
16 To na niah loe, Nang mah, Baali (ka angraeng), tiah nang kawk mak ai, Ishi (ka sava), tiah ni nang kawk tih boeh.
Then on that day, says the Lord, you will call me ‘my husband’ and not ‘my Baal.’
17 Baal ih ahminnawk to anih ih pahni hoiah ka lak pae ving han, nihcae ih ahminnawk panoek lethaih om mak ai boeh.
I will stop her appealing to the Baals—their names won't be mentioned ever again.
18 To na niah loe moisannawk, van ih tavaanawk, long ah kavak hmuennawk hoiah misa angcoeng han ai ah, nihcae han lokmaihaih ka sak pae han. Nihcae kamding rue ah ohsak hanah, misatukhaih kalii hoi sumsen to long nui hoiah kam rosak han.
At that time I will make a solemn agreement with the wild animals and the birds of the sky and the creeping things of the ground. I will do away with the bow and the sword; I will abolish war from the land so you can lie down in safety.
19 Nang loe kaimah khaeah kang suek poe han, ue, toenghaih hoi kamsoem ah lokcaekhaih, tahmenhaih hoi amlunghaih baktiah, nang to kaimah khaeah kang suek poe han boeh.
I will make you my wife forever; I will make you my wife in goodness and justice and love and mercy.
20 Oepthohhaih hoiah kaimah khaeah kang suek poe han: to naah loe Angraeng to na panoek tih boeh.
I will be faithful to you, my wife, and you will know me as the Lord.
21 To na niah loe na lok kang tahngaih pae han, vannawk ih lok to ka tahngaih pae han, nihcae mah doeh long ih lok to tahngai o toeng tih.
On that day, declares the Lord, I will answer the heavens and they will answer the earth.
22 Long mah, cang, misurtui hoi situi ih lok to tahngai pae ueloe, nihcae mah doeh Jezreel ih lok to tahngai pae o tih.
The earth will answer the grain, and the new wine, and the olive oil, and they shall answer, ‘Jezreel’ (God sows).
23 To pacoengah anih to kaimah hanah long ah ka patit moe, palungnathaih tawn ai kami nuiah palungnathaih to kam tuengsak han; Kai ih kami ah kaom ai kami khaeah, Nangcae loe Kai ih kami ah na oh o, tiah ka naa han; to naah nihcae mah, Nang loe ka Sithaw ni, tiah thui o tih boeh, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
I will ‘sow’ her for myself in the earth. I will love Lo-ruhamah (unloved) and I will say ‘you are my people’ to Lo-ammi (not my people), and they will say ‘You are my God.’”
