< Hosea 12 >
1 Ephraim loe takhi caak hanah, ni angzae bang ih takhi to patom; anih mah alinghaih hoi raihaih to ni thokkruek pungsak. Assyria hoi lokmaihaih to a sak o moe, situi to Izip ah a pahwh.
Ephraim feedeth on wind, and followeth after the east wind: he continually multiplieth lies and desolation; and they make a covenant with Assyria, and oil is carried into Egypt.
2 Angraeng mah Judah to lokcaek hanah suek, a caehhaih loklam baktih toengah Jakob to danpaek tih; a toksakhaih baktih toengah anih mah pathok let tih.
The LORD hath also a controversy with Judah, and will punish Jacob according to his ways; according to his doings will he recompense him.
3 Anih loe amno zok thungah amya ih khok tahmawh to patawnh moe, a thacakhaih hoiah Sithaw apanh kami ah oh:
In the womb he took his brother by the heel; and in his manhood he had power with God:
4 ue, anih loe van kami hoiah angpanh moe, anih mah payawk; a qah moe, a koehhaih to sak pae hanah anih khaeah hnik. Anih to Bethel ah a hnuk moe, to ah aicae hoi lok apaeh;
yea, he had power over the angel, and prevailed: he wept, and made supplication unto him: he found him at Beth-el, and there he spake with us;
5 Anih loe misatuh Angraeng Sithaw, panoek han koi Anih ih ahmin loe Angraeng, tiah oh.
even the LORD, the God of hosts; the LORD is his memorial.
6 To pongah nang loe na Sithaw khaeah amlaem ah; tahmenhaih hoi toenghaih to patawn ah loe, na Sithaw to zing poe ah.
Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment, and wait on thy God continually.
7 Anih loe hmuen zaw kami ah oh moe, a ban ah katoeng ai hmuenzit tahhaih to sinh; anih loe alinghaih koeh kami ah oh.
[He is] a trafficker, the balances of deceit are in his hand: he loveth to oppress.
8 Ephraim mah, kai loe angraeng boeh, kaimah hanah hmuenmae to ka hak boeh; ka sak ih hmuen boih nuiah nihcae mah ka zaehaih to hnu o mak ai, tiah thuih.
And Ephraim said, Surely I am become rich, I have found me wealth: in all my labours they shall find in me none iniquity that were sin.
9 Kai loe Izip prae hoiah nang zaehoikung, Angraeng na Sithaw ah ka oh; poihsakhaih ni nathuem ih baktih toengah, imthung ah kang ohsak let han.
But I am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt; I will yet again make thee to dwell in tents, as in the days of the solemn feast.
10 Tahmaanawk rang hoiah lok ka thuih, hnuksakhaihnawk to kang pungsak, tahmaanawk toksakhaih rang hoiah patahhaihnawk to ka paek.
I have also spoken unto the prophets, and I have multiplied visions; and by the ministry of the prophets have I used similitudes.
11 Gilead ah sethaih oh maw? Nihcae loe tidoeh na ai ni. Nihcae mah Gilgal ah maitaw taenawk to angbawnhaih ah paek o, toe nihcae ih hmaicamnawk loe laikok thung ih kangpop thlung baktiah ni om o tih.
Is Gilead iniquity? they are altogether vanity; in Gilgal they sacrifice bullocks: yea, their altars are as heaps in the furrows of the field.
12 Jakob loe Syria prae ah cawnh; Israel loe zu lak hanah tok to sak, zu lak hanah tuu to a toep.
And Jacob fled into the field of Aram, and Israel served for a wife, and for a wife he kept [sheep].
13 Tahmaa rang hoiah Israel to Angraeng mah Izip prae hoiah zaeh moe, tahmaa rang hoiah anih to pathlung ah oh.
And by a prophet the LORD brought Israel up out of Egypt, and by a prophet was he preserved.
14 Toe Ephraim mah Anih to kanung parai ah palungphuisak; to pongah Angraeng mah, a sak ih zaehaih baktih toengah athii palonghaih anih nuiah omsak ueloe, kasae thuihaih to a nuiah phasak let tih.
Ephraim hath provoked to anger most bitterly: therefore shall his blood be left upon him, and his reproach shall his Lord return unto him.
