< Hosea 11 >

1 Nawkta nathuem ah Israel to ka palung, Izip prae thung hoiah ka capa to ka kawk.
“When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.
2 Nihcae to ka kawk naah, nihcae loe kangthla aep ah caeh o: Baalnawk khaeah hmuen tathlanghaih to a sak o moe, krangnawk khaeah hmuihoih a thlaek o.
They called to them, so they went from them. They sacrificed to the Baals, and burnt incense to engraved images.
3 Ephraim caeh thaih hanah ka patuk, anih ih ban ah ka patawnh moe, ka hoih; toe kai mah ngan ka tuisak, tito nihcae mah panoek o ai.
Yet I taught Ephraim to walk. I took them by their arms, but they didn’t know that I healed them.
4 Nihcae to poeknaemhaih hoiah ka zaeh moe, amlunghaih hoiah ka zaeng; kai loe nihcae hanah tahnong ih hnam kakhringh pae kaminawk baktiah ka oh, nihcae to buh ka pacah.
I drew them with cords of a man, with ties of love; and I was to them like those who lift up the yoke on their necks; and I bent down to him and I fed him.
5 Nihcae loe dawnpakhuem o ai pongah, anih loe Izip prae ah amlaem mak ai, Assyria kami loe anih ih siangpahrang ah om tih.
“They won’t return into the land of Egypt; but the Assyrian will be their king, because they refused to repent.
6 Anih ih vangpuinawk thungah sumsen alaekhaih to om tih, angmacae sak atimhaih baktih toengah, a ohhaih ahmuen to amro ueloe, nihcae to amrosak tih.
The sword will fall on their cities, and will destroy the bars of their gates, and will put an end to their plans.
7 Kai ih kaminawk loe kai hnuk angqoi taak ving hanah poek o: nihcae mah to Kasang Koek, tiah palawk o, toe Anih to mi mah doeh pakoeh o ai.
My people are determined to turn from me. Though they call to the Most High, he certainly won’t exalt them.
“How can I give you up, Ephraim? How can I hand you over, Israel? How can I make you like Admah? How can I make you like Zeboiim? My heart is turned within me, my compassion is aroused.
9 Kanung parai palung ka phuihaih hoiah hmuen to ka sah mak ai, Ephraim to kam rosak mak ai: kai loe kami na ai, Sithaw ni; nangcae salakah kaom Ciimcai Sithaw ah ka oh; to pongah vangpui amrosak hanah kang zo mak ai.
I will not execute the fierceness of my anger. I will not return to destroy Ephraim, for I am God, and not man—the Holy One amongst you. I will not come in wrath.
10 Nihcae mah Angraeng to patom o tih: Anih loe kaipui baktiah hang tih: Anih hangh naah, a caanawk tasoeh o ueloe, niduem bang hoiah angzo o tih.
They will walk after the LORD, who will roar like a lion; for he will roar, and the children will come trembling from the west.
11 Nihcae loe Izip prae ih tavaanawk baktih, Assyria prae ih pahuu baktiah, tasoehhaih hoiah angzo o tih: to naah nihcae to angmacae im ah ka ohsak han, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
They will come trembling like a bird out of Egypt, and like a dove out of the land of Assyria; and I will settle them in their houses,” says the LORD.
12 Lok amlaihaih hoiah Ephraim mah kai ang takui, Israel imthung takoh mah alinghaih hoiah kai ang takui: toe Judah loe oep kaom Ciimcai Sithaw, Sithaw khae hoiah loklam amkhraeng ving boeh.
Ephraim surrounds me with falsehood, and the house of Israel with deceit. Judah still strays from God, and is unfaithful to the Holy One.
