< Hosea 10 >

1 Israel loe athaih kahoih misurkung ah oh, angmah han ih ni athaih to athaih; pop parai athaih to athaih naah, anih mah pop aep hmaicam to sak; a prae to hoih pongah, kahoih aep sakcop ih krangnawk to a sak o.
A luxuriant vine is Israel. He bore fruit lavishly. In proportion to the increase of his fruit he increased altars to idols. In proportion to the beauty of his land he made beautiful the sacred pillars.
2 Nihcae loe poekhaih hnetto ah ampraek pongah, a sak o ih zaehaih atho to hnu o tih. Anih mah nihcae ih hmaicamnawk to paro pae ueloe, nihcae ih krangnawk doeh phrae pae tih.
Their heart is false, now they must be punished. God himself will break the necks of their altars, he will destroy their sacred pillars.
3 To naah nihcae mah, Angraeng saiqathaih a tawn o ai pongah ni, siangpahrang doeh a tawn o ai; siangpahrang a tawnh o aep to mah, siangpahrang mah aicae hanah tih hmuen maw na sah pae thai tih? tiah a thuih o.
Yes, soon they will be saying, ‘We have no king, for we have not revered the Lord, and a king, what could he do for us anyway?’
4 Nihcae loe lokmaihaih to sak o, toe a thuih o ih lok baktiah pazui o ai; to pongah nihcae mah toenghaih hoiah lokcaekhaih to laikok ah kamprawk kasoe kaom phroh baktiah angcoeng o sak.
Speaking words, perjuring themselves, making agreements, and litigation springs up like a poisonous weed in a ploughed field.
5 Samaria ah kaom kaminawk mah Beth Aven ih maitaw caa ih krang to zit o: toe lensawkhaih nihcae khae hoi tacawt ving boeh pongah, to ih krang pongah qaimanawk tasoeh o ueloe, to ih kaminawk mah krang to qah o haih tih.
The inhabitants of Samaria will tremble with fear for their calf of Beth-aven. Its people will mourn over it, and so will its priests, who had rejoiced for its glory, now departed from it.
6 To krang to siangpahrang Jareb tangqum ah paek hanah, Assyria prae ah sin pae o tih: Ephraim loe azat paw ueloe, Israel doeh azathaih tong tih.
It will be carried off to Assyria as a present to the patron king. Disgrace will Ephraim bear and Israel will be ashamed of its idol.
7 Samaria hoi anih ih siangpahrang loe tuipoep baktiah payawk ving tih.
As for Samaria, her king will disappear, like foam on the face of the waters.
8 Aven ih hmuensangnawk hoi Israel zaehaih to paro pae tih. Nihcae ih hmaicam nuiah soekhring hoi akhring kaom thing to amprawk tih; to naah nihcae mah maenawk khaeah, Kaicae hae khuk khoep ah, tiah naa o ueloe, maesomnawk khaeah, Kaicae hae taet hmoek ah, tiah naa o tih.
And the high places of Aven will be destroyed, the shrines of Israel’s sin, thorns and thistles will grow on their altars, and they will say to the mountains, ‘Cover us,’ and to the hills, ‘Fall upon us.’
9 Aw Israel, na zaehaih loe Gibeah dung nathuem hoiah ni oh boeh; nihcae loe to ah angdoet o. Gibeah ah misatukhaih mah sethaih sah kaminawk to pazawk mak ai maw?
From the time of Gibeah, Israel has sinned. There they took their stand. Will not war overtake them in Gibeah because of the wicked?
10 Ka koeh naah nihcae to ka thuitaek han: zaehaih alet hnetto a sak o pongah, nihcae to danpaek moe, taoengh hanah kaminawk nawnto amkhueng o tih.
When I please, I will punish them. Nations will gather against them to chain them for their double crimes.
11 Ephraim loe cang atit kakoeh, hraem ih maitaw tala baktiah oh; toe khet kahoih qui to tahnong ah ka suek pae han, Ephraim to ka mongh han, Judah mah long atok ueloe, Jakob mah long kae to pakhoih tih.
Ephraim indeed was a trained heifer that loved to thresh grain, and I myself laid a yoke upon his fair neck, I made Ephraim draw and Judah must plough, Jacob must turn the soil for himself.
12 Nangmah hanah toenghaih to tuh ah; palungnathaih to aat ah; Angraeng pakronghaih atue loe vaihi phak boeh; anih angzoh moe, na nuiah toenghaih kho angzo ai karoek to, atok vai ai ih long to atok ah.
Sow for yourselves righteousness, reap the fruits of love. Break up your fallow ground, for it is time to seek the Lord, so righteousness may come to you.
13 Toe nang loe sethaih to tuk moe, sethaih to na aah: nang loe nangmah ih tha to nang oep haih, thacak kaminawk to nang oep haih pongah, alinghaih athaih to na caak boeh.
But you have ploughed wickedness, iniquity have you reaped. You have eaten the fruit of lies. Because you have trusted in your own path, in the multitude of your warriors,
14 To pongah nangmacae kami thung hoiah misa angtuk koehhaih lok to tacawt tih, to naah loe nangcae misa abuephaih doeh amro boih tih, Shalman mah Beth Arbel ih kaminawk paro boih baktih toengah, misa angtukhaih niah amno hoi a caanawk nawnto long va o haih tih.
the alarm of war will sound in your cities and all your fortresses will be ruined, as Shalman laid in ruins Beth-arbel in the day of battle, when mothers were dashed to pieces over their children.
15 Na sethaih len hmoek boeh pongah, Bethel mah nang to to tiah sah tih: akhawnbang phak naah loe, Israel siangpahrang to hum tih.
Thus will I do to you, Bethel, because of the enormity of your wickedness. When dawn breaks, so will the king of Israel be broken.
