< Hosea 1 >
1 Judah siangpahrang, Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, Hezzekiah hoi Israel siangpahrang, Joash capa Jeroboam siangpahrang ah oh nathuem ah, Beeri capa Hosea khaeah Angraeng ih lok to angzoh.
The Lord’s message to Hosea son of Beeri during the reigns of Kings Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah of Judah and during the reign of King Jeroboam, son of Joash of Israel.
2 Hosea patohhaih rang hoiah Angraeng mah lokthuih naah, Angraeng mah Hosea khaeah, Caeh ah loe, tangzat zaw kami hoi tangzat zaw kami ih caanawk to zu ah la ah, prae mah tangzat zaw kami hoiah zaehaih sak boeh pongah, Angraeng khae hoi amkhraeng o boeh, tiah a naa.
When the Lord began to speak through Hosea, he said to him: “Go marry an unfaithful woman who will bear you children by her adultery, for like an adulterous wife the land is unfaithful to the Lord.”
3 To pongah anih loe caeh moe, Diblaim canu Gomer to zu ah a lak; a zu loe loe zokpom moe, anih hanah capa to sak pae.
So he married Gomer, the daughter of Dibliam, and when she conceived and bore him a son,
4 To naah Angraeng mah anih khaeah, anih ih ahmin to Jezreel, tiah sah ah; Jezreel ah kami athii palonghaih oh pongah, Jehu ih imthung takoh nuiah akra ai ah lu ka lak moe, Israel siangpahrang ukhaih prae to ka boengsak han.
the Lord said: “Call him ‘Jezreel,’ for in a little while I will punish the dynasty of Jehu for the blood shed at the valley of Jezreel, I will cause the kingdom of Israel to cease.
5 To na niah loe Jezreel ih azawn ah Israel ih kalii to ka khaeh pae han, tiah a naa.
On that day, I will break Israel’s bows and arrows in the valley of Jezreel.”
6 Anih loe zokpom let moe, canu maeto sak. To naah Sithaw mah anih khaeah, Israel imthung takoh nuiah palungnathaih ka tawn mak ai, nihcae to ka lak ving han boeh, to pongah ahmin ah Lo-Ruhamah, tiah sah ah, tiah a naa.
When she conceived again and bore a daughter, the Lord said to Hosea: “Call her Lo-Ruhamah – ‘No-Compassion’ for I will no longer have compassion on Israel, certainly not spare them.
7 Toe Judah imthung takoh nuiah loe palungnathaih kam tuengsak han, nihcae loe kalii, sumsen, misa angtukhaih, hrangnawk hoi hrang angthueng kaminawk mah pahlong mak ai, angmacae ih Angraeng Sithaw mah ni pahlong tih, tiah a naa.
But on Judah I will have compassion, I will deliver them by the Lord their God, but I will not deliver them by bow nor by sword, nor by battle nor by horses nor by horsemen.”
8 Lo-Ruhamah tahnu amphi pacoengah, anih loe zokpom moe, capa maeto sak let.
After she had weaned No-Compassion, and when she conceived and bore a son, he said:
9 To pacoengah Sithaw mah, Nangcae loe kai ih kami ah na om o ai, kai doeh nangcae ih Sithaw ah ka om mak ai boeh, to pongah anih ih ahmin to Lo-Ammi, tiah sah ah, tiah a naa.
“Call him Lo-Ammi – ‘Not-My-People’ for you, Israel, are not my people, and I indeed am not your God.”
10 Toe Israel caanawk loe tuipui ih savuet baktiah, tah thai mak ai ueloe, kroek doeh kroek thai mak ai. Vaihi nihcae khaeah, Nangcae loe kai ih kami na ai ni, tiah kawk o e, nangcae loe kahing Sithaw ih capa ni, tiah kawk o tih.
Yet the number of the Israelites will be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured or counted, and where they were told, “You are not my people,” they will be called, “children of the living God.”
11 Judah caanawk hoi Israel caanawk loe nawnto amkhueng o ueloe, nihcae zaehoikung kami maeto qoi o tih; nihcae prae thung hoi angthawk o naah loe, Jezreel hanah kalen parai niah om tih, tiah thuih.
The Judeans and the Israelites will join together again, will appoint for themselves one leader, will return to their own land. Great will be the day of Jezreel!
